Teresa “Terry” M. Arbuckle, age 58 of Cumming, Georgia passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at Hospice Atlanta. She was preceded in death by her father, C.L “Cap” Myers.
She was a loving and devoted mother and wife. As a young woman she enjoyed competing in beauty pageants and was crowned Miss Fairest of the Fair, and First Runner up in the Miss Greene County pageant. Terry became a woman not just of beauty, but with strength, grace and a loving and caring nature that encompassed everything and everyone around her. She will be greatly missed and will leave a space that can never be replaced.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph “Lucky” Arbuckle of Cumming; sons, Joseph Jr. and Blake Arbuckle of Cumming; mother, Peggy Myers of Greeneville, TN.; brothers, Ronnie (Lovy) Myers of Palmetto, GA., Phil (Joy), Steve and Lee Myers of Greeneville, TN.; sister, Tammy (Dale) Bunce of Afton, TN.
Funeral Services will be held 11a.m. Tuesday, September 9 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Father Peter Rau officiating. iIntermentwill follow at the Georgia National cemetery in Canton. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 7, 2008 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Byars Funeral Home.

Mrs. Vern Margaret Ammerman age 89 of Cumming passed away Saturday February 2, 2008. Graveside services will be in Grand Blanc, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her Husband David Ammerman in 1981 and a Daughter Beverly Weiss in 2003. Survivors Include: Daughter and Son-In-Law Lois & John Beigle of Suwanee, Daughter Carol LaLonde of Flint, Michigan. 9 Grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Gladys E. Wilson, age 97 of Melbourne, Florida formally of Marietta, Georgia passed away Monday, March 16, 2009. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Wilson who passed in 2006.
A graveside service will be held at Marietta National cemetery on Friday, March 19, 2009 AT 2p.m. Survivors include his daughter, Martha Wilson of Portland, Maine.

Jeromine Lees Vassil
Jeromine Lees Vassil, 73, of Cumming, Georgia passed away on Friday, May 16, 2008 after battling acute myeloid leukemia for four months. “Jerry” is originally from Scranton, PA. Born in 1935, she was the daughter of the late Gertrude Faatz Lees and the late Edward T. Lees. She graduated from Scranton Central High School and attended Marywood College in Scranton. She married
Victor Mackie Vassil, her high school sweetheart. Jerry, Vic and family have been residents of Georgia since 1974. After raising their six children, Jerry worked in the medical field for over twenty years.
Jerry is survived by her loving husband, Victor; three sons, Tim (Donna), Jim (Marie) and Vince (Dina); three daughters, Margo Kirschner (Bob), MaryBeth Gibson (Mac) and Christine Smith (Pete); and 18 grandchildren, Matthew and Brandon Vassil; Robby, Christen, and JP Kirschner; Victor, Gerry and Evie Vassil; Andrew, Ryan, and Julia Vassil; Madeleine, Amanda, and John Gibson; and Victoria, Brogan, Regan, and Branston Smith. Jerry is also survived by her cousin, Marianne McTighe, and her sister-in-law, Carol Hudak, both of Scranton, PA.
Jerry, a devoted mother to her six children, was the pillar of her family whom she loved and cared for so deeply. She had a passion for life, which she passed on to her children. Family was the center of Jerry’s daily activities. Jerry was a treasure to her family and her many friends with whom she enjoyed spending time. She loved gardening, visits to the beach, and cooking her personal recipes for the myriad of gatherings she hosted throughout her life. She also enjoyed attending services at her parish, Saint Brendan Catholic Church. She was an avid walker for many years and participated in her fist Peachtree Road race at age 72. Jerry will be missed very much by all who knew her, loved her and whose lives she has touched.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Saint Brendan Catholic Church, 4633 Shiloh Rd., Cumming, Georgia 30040. The family requests that no flowers be sent. Those so wishing may send contributions to Saint Brendan Catholic Church/Memorial Garden.

Connie Sue Stokes age 53 of Lawrenceville passed away Tuesday April 15th, 2008. She was preceded in death by her mother Shirley Dinsmore.
Survivors include her father James Dinsmore, Sr. of Lawrenceville; husband Billy Stokes of Lawrenceville; son Ronnie & Candy Mann of Lawrenceville; brother James Dinsmore, Jr. of Marietta; sisters Tina Lee Dinsmore of Lawrenceville and Anita Ann Lowman of Cumming. Two grandchildren Dustin Cole Mann and Travis James Mann. Several extended family members also survive.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday April 18th at Providence Baptist Church cemetery in Alpharetta. The family will receive friends on Thursday April 17th from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Byars Funeral Home in Cumming, Georgia.

Mary Sue Stewart age 60 of Gainesville passed away Wednesday February 6, 2008. Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her Brother Robert David Strunk.

William (Bill) Louis Stephens
William (Bill) Louis Stephens passed away on November 14th 2009 after a long struggle with prostate cancer. Bill, an Atlanta native, attended elementary school at Christ the King and later graduated from Marist College (On Ivy Street). Bill attended Emory University and graduated with a BBA in Business Administration, was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and the Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity.
Following graduation, Bill attended the Naval Officers Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. Following graduation he was assigned to flight school at Pensacola Naval Air Station where after a brief stay was assigned to New Studies at the Naval Air Intelligence School in Washington, DC. After graduation, he joined the Air Group at the Ocean Naval Air Station in Virginia Beach, Virginia. During the next few years he served aboard three different aircraft carriers, the USS Bennington, the USS Forrestal, and the USS Ranger serving in both the Atlantic Ocean and Far East as an assistant Air Intelligence Officer.
Following his naval service he returned to Atlanta to begin a career in the family insurance business. After several years he changed careers joining the Adams-Cates Company, becoming a Vice President specialist in commercial, office and leasing and land sales. Bill later became a consultant/associate with REII assisting in the liquidation of several hundred dollars in foreclosed properties. During the last few years he reopened his own brokerage company. Bill was an avid golfer and valued the business and personal friendships he sustained over the years. He loved to read and listen to classical and country music.
His proudest achievements are his five children and eleven grandchildren and the contributions they continue to make with their lives. Bill is survived by his children, Lida Chenoweth, Tricia Bradshaw, Kate Gutierrez, John Stephens, and Beth Stephens. The past six years have been lovingly shard with his beloved fiancée, Barbara Weeden who has been his true love and constant companion. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Hospice Center of Atlanta. A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, November 23rd, 2009, at The Cathedral of Chris the King on 2699 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, Georgia 30305. On line condolences can be made here.
