Terry Dean “T.D.” Smith, age 65, of Cumming, Georgia passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2009.
Survivors include his wife, Joy Smith; children, Todd, Scotty, and Terry Jean; sisters, Frankie Mae and Patsy. Nine grandchildren also survive.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2009 at Byars Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family request that contributions be made to his medical expenses.

Tabitha Jean Scurry
Tabitha Jean Scurry, age 34 of Dawsonville passed away Sunday, March 29th, 2009. Tabitha was a loving mother devoted to her kids and her family and spent most of her spare time helping out friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her step-mother, Linda Davis in April of 2007.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Scurry of Dawsonville; children, Victoria Davis, Benjamin McBrayer and Angel McBrayer; father, Allen Davis of Gainesville; mother, Diane Lowe; sister, Melissa Lowe; brother, Dewayne Summey; grandfather, Earl Davis; step-grandmother, Martha Davis; grandmother, Mary Kepner.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2009 at New Hope Methodist Church with Pastor Larry Patton officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until service time. iIntermentwill be in the New Hope Methodist Church Cemetery.

Bertha Schultz, age 90 of Gainesville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2009.

Hermalee Samons
Mrs. Hermalee Samons, age 84 of Alpharetta formerly of Paintsville, Kentucky passed away Saturday, July 11, 2009. Hermalee was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Samons in 1994 and she was the daughter of Lesta and Charles E. Preston and sister of Ray E. Preston, Charles D. Preston and Hansel Preston.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharyn Hauri; granddaughter, Kimberley Hauri both of Alpharetta; son, Larry R. Samons and wife Marcia of Mason, Ohio and their children, Shelley & Kevin McCullough of California, Julie Samons of North Carolina and Amy Samons of California.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 15th at Byars Funeral Home in Cumming, Georgia. The family will receive friends at 12 Noon until service time. iIntermentwill be in Sawnee View Gardens cemetery in Cumming.

Yolanda Sagona
Mrs. Yolanda Sagona, age 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2009, at Northside Forsyth Hospital. She was born Oct. 24, 1930, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was the daughter of Anthony and Beatrice Giorlando. Yolanda was preceded in death by her husband, Peter in 2006; brother, Stephen; and sister, Agnes.
Yolanda earned a bachelor's degree from long Island University and a master's degree from St. John's University. She married
Peter Sagona on May 9, 1953. The couple had two sons, Peter Joseph Sagona and Stephen Anthony Sagona. After a career as a teacher with the N.Y. City Board of Education, Yolanda retired to Florida, where she lived for 12 years before relocating to Forsyth County in 2002.
She is survived by her son, Stephen of Flushing, N.Y.; son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Randi of Cumming; grandchildren, Robby and Kristi of Cumming; sister, Gloria Blanco of Jamaica Estates, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, at Good Shepherd Church with Father Frank Richardson officiating. iIntermentwill be at Georgia National cemetery in Canton.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (www.leukemia.org).
