Judy Edwards
Judy Edwards of Cumming, Georgia, passed away December 13th at the age of 64, after a short illness. Born in Dayton, Ohio, Judy entered the medical field as a Certified Paramedic. She held an Associate Degree in nursing from Sinclair University in Dayton, Ohio, a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of South Florida, and a Masters degree, in Health Services Administration from the University of Saint Francis. Judy was a Certified Emergency Nurse as well as holding a Certification in Homeland Security at Level V (CHS-V). She was a member of the Nursing Honor Society Sigma Theta Tau. Prior to becoming a nurse Judy was a Professional Dog Handler from 1966 – 1974, and in 1972 with a Smooth Coat Chihuahua she was showing, she took Best in Show at Westminster.
For 8 years, Judy served as the Commander for the GA-3 Disaster Medical Assistance Team under the Department of Health and Human Services, Medical Response Branch. She participated in numerous federal deployments including responses to the Pentagon and the World Trade Center on 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina. She also served as a consultant to the British governments to evaluate emergency services in the British Island of Tortula.
Judy joined the Hospital Corporation of American (HCA) in 1988, working as the Assistant Director in the Emergency Department at Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center in Ft. Myers, Florida. In December of 1993 she moved to Atlanta to become the Director of Emergency Services at Emory Dunwoody Medical Center and in the following years also became the Director of Critical Care and Medical Surgical Services. In May of 2003 she assumed the role of Corporate Director of Emergency Preparedness, for which she was responsible for emergency preparedness and emergency operations planning for 190 acute care facilities and 150 Ambulatory Surgery Center. In 2003 Judy joined First Water Systems as Business Development Director for Healthcare.
As distinguished of a career that she had, Judy was greatly loved as a daughter, sister, mother, wife and grandmother. preceded in death by her parents Jacob Thomas Smith and Minnie Ethel Carpenter Smith, Judy left behind her husband of 25 years Bob Edwards of Cumming, Georgia; whom she met when he was her Paramedic Instructor in Dayton, Ohio, daughter Gretchen Carlson (Paul) of Clermont, Florida, Step children Todd Edwards (Kathy) of Lilburn, Georgia, Chris Edwards (Becky) of Reston, Virginia and Shelly Budak (Paul) of Dayton, Ohio. Judy will be remembered as a wonderful grandmother by Sydney Grace Carlson, Jordan & Zachary Edwards, Gavin Edwards. She also leaves loving sister, Joyce Tuxhorn (Geno) of Naples, Florida and Niece Dr. Keri Mason of Pooler, Georgia.
In lieu of Flowers the family has requested that donations be made for the GA-3 Disaster Medical Assistance Team. Donations need to be payable to the World Water Relief, 3750 Crestwood Place, Cumming, Georgia 30041.
A Celebration of Life & visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, December 16 from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM at Byars Funeral Home. Following this, a Memorial service will be held at Grace Chapel, Cumming, GA at 5:30 PM.

Martha Pearl Duling age 47 of Cumming passed away October 21st, 2009. Visitation will be 5pm to 8 pm on Saturday with Services on Sunday 2 pm at Byars Funeral Home. Survivors include: Husband Jim Duling, Son Chris McKenzie, Daughter Sarah Duling all of Cumming. Aunt Betty Adams of Flowery Branch.

David Joseph Raynes
David Joseph Raynes, age 22, of Atlanta passed away suddenly on Friday, October 17, 2008, at his residence. Mr. Raynes was born in Atlanta, GA. and was currently a student at Georgia Perimeter College. He was predeceased in death by his grandfather, Julian Raynes and uncle, Ricky Raynes.
He is survived by his parents, Theodore and Margo Raynes, sister, brother-in-law and nieces, Jillian and Ben Nielsen and Jasmine and Jaden Raynes, all of Seattle, WA; grandmother, Roselle Raynes of Atlanta. Many cousins also survived.
Graveside services will be held, Thursday, October 23, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Crestlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the College Fund for Jasmin and Jadin Nielson, c/o Jan Nielsen, Twin County Credit Union, Olympia, WA.

Mr. William D. Ferguson age 87 of Cumming passed away Tuesday February 12, 2008. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Friday February 15th at Byars Funeral Home. Mr. Ferguson was preceded in death by his Wife Anne Ferguson in 2001, Parents George and Mary Ferguson, Son Michael Ferguson. Survivors Include: Son and Daughter-In-Law Tim & Nubia Ferguson of Cumming, 3 Daughters Jennifer Ferguson of Cumming, Dianne Inglett of Lincolnton, Georgia and Faith Parsons of Bloomfield, CT. 11 Grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mr. Ferguson was a Pearl Harbor Survivor and Veteran of the Army. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion, he and his wife also volunteered at local nursing homes in Cumming. James Arthur DeSana, age 83 of Cumming, GA, passed away Friday, December 12, 2008 at Embracing Hospice House in Cumming.
Mr. DeSana is survived by his daughters, Susan Warren Beatty of Boulder, Colorado and Jane Warren Beatty and husband, Andy Richards of Portland, Oregon.

Susan Rose Wylie Datelle
Susan Rose Wylie Datelle, age 66 of Atlanta Ga. formerly of Waterbury Ct. passed away June 6th, 2009 with her husband Ralph, family and grandchildren by her side. She was employed by Colonial Bank of Boston in Waterbury, Ct. for 17 years. She leaves her husband Ralph of 18 years and caregiver for the last five years. She also leaves a daughter Tara Libretto of Jacksonville, NC. & Two sons, Richard Kellas of Oakville, Ct. and Michael Datelle of Atlanta, Ga., a sister Joyce Cappiello of Old Saybrook, Ct. and brother Donald Fortier of Beverly Hills, Florida, seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Susan was a very outgoing person. She loved meeting people young & old. Her greatest enjoyment was her grandchildren and going to Atlantic Beach in N.C. to fish to her heart's content. Susan will be deeply missed by her husband, family and friends. There will be no calling hours.
