Beatrice R. Clay
Services for Beatrice R. Clay of McRae were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 16 at Steward Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Wheeler County with interment in Pine Acres Cemetery.
The Rev. William Horne officiated.
Clay, 96, died Sunday, May 9, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Bill and Ella Richerson and was the widow of Henry Clay.
She was a native of Telfair County and was a housewife.
Survivors include her daughters, Euthera Horne of West Palm Beach, Fla., MIldred Cooper of McRae and Pearlie Mae Edwards of McRae; stepdaughter, Annie C. Harris of McRae; 15 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.
A.L. Spaulding Funeral Home of Eastman was in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Conley
Services for Ruth Conley of Rhine were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 16 in Hopewell Baptist Church with interment in Hopewell Cemetery.
The Rev. Randy Conley and Mr. Bobby Ryals officiated.
Conley, 61, died Thursday, May 13 , 2004. She was the daughter of Lucille Justice Teagle of Cochran and the late Richard Thompson and was married to Buford Conley of Rhine.
She was a native of Pulaski County, but had resided in Dodge County for the past 38 years. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
In addition to her mother and her husband, survivors include her daughter, Keva Sheffield of Abbeville; son, Michael Conley of Athens; sisters, Willene Rye of Mississippi, Phyllis Brown of Monroe and Mary Smith of Cochran; brother, Ronnie Thompson of Warner Robins; granddaughter, Makenzi Conley.
Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home of Eastman was in charge of arrangements.

Louise Boothe Comer
Services for Louise Boothe Comer of Cordele were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 16 at Cordele First United Methodist Church with interment in the Sunnyside Cemetery.
The Layman Lee Guerry, the Rev. Tommy Mason and the Rev. Carroll Crosby officiated.
Comer, 97, died Thursday, May 13, 2004. She was the daughter of the late William Hugh and Fannie Wood Boothe and was the widow of Jack Grace Comer.
She was a native of Telfair County, resided in Cordele for over 70 years and has spent the past five years as a resident in Macon. She was the oldest member of the Cordele First United Methodist Church , where she had been attending for over 75 years and was a member of the Fellowship Sunday school class.
Over the years, she held many positions in the church from president of the Missionary Society to circle leader, Sunday school teacher, youth group leader and choir member. She was past president of the Cordele Symphony Club. She was a graduate of South Georgia College in McRae and started her speech teaching career in the McRae-Helena Public Schools and later at Wheeler County High School. She also taught speech and operated a school of tap dancing for many years in Cordele.
Survivors include her daughter, Jacquelyn C. Poole of Macon; son, William Hugh Comer of Tullahoma, Tenn.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Rainey Family Funeral Services was in charge of the arrangements.

William K. Fawcett, Jr.
Graveside services for William K. Fawcett, Jr. of Atlanta were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15 in Oakgrove Cemetery in McRae. A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 16 at Northside United Methodist Church in Atlanta.
The Dr. G. Gil Watson officiated.
Fawcett, 75, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004. He was the son of the late William K. Fawcett, Sr. and Marion Daniels Fawcett and was married Emily C. Fawcett of Atlanta.
He was a native of Atlanta. A graduate of Boys High School, he attended the University of Georgia and Georgia Institute of Technology. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He received his commission and wings with the U.S. Air Force in the Air Force with the Atlantic Division of MATS.
He began work with Guardian Chemical Company in 1956. He retired as President/CEO in 2002.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his son, John King Fawcett; grandson, John William Fawcett; granddaughters, Rosemary Katherine Fawcett and Caroline Bailey Fawcett.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northside Methodist Church, 2799 Northside Drive NW, Atlanta, Ga. 30305.
Vaughn Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.

Lee Edward “Gin” Johnson
Services for Lee Edward “Gin” Johnson of Helena were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15 at Centilla Missionary Baptist Church in Helena with interment in the church cemetery.
The Rev. William Jackson officiated.
Johnson, 69, died Thursday, May 6, 2004. He was the son of the late Archie Johnson and Rena Wooten Johnson and was married to Irma Jean Johnson.
He was a native of Dodge County and was retired from Golden Peanut Company.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his children, Glenn Johnson of McRae, Maxine Johnson of Helena, Alethia Grannville of Newberry, S.C., Elizabeth Williams of Helena, Vince Johnson of Dublin, Michelle Johnson, Tiffany Johnson and Marion Johnson, all of Helena; sisters and brothers, Eloise Simmons of Helena, Rufus Wooten of McRae and John Robert Allen of Helena, Jimmy Woodard of Merritt Island, Fla., Evangelist Lawrence Lemon of Brunswick, Joe Melvin of Helena, J.W. Melvin of Millen, Tammie Paulk and Alberta Ray of Phoenix City, Ala.; 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Fred L. (Sharkey) Nobles
Services for Fred L. “Sharkey” Nobles of Alamo were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 5 at the Alamo United Methodist Church of Alamo with interment in the Telfair Memorial Gardens in McRae.
The Rev. Alvin Lewis officiated.
Nobles, 76, died Monday, May 3, 2004. He was the son of the late James Earnest Nobles and Clara Grimes and was married to Dorothy Nobles of Alamo. H e was preceded in death by his daughter, Suzanne Nobles Cook.
A native and lifelong resident of Wheeler County, he was a salesman for Dixie Lily Milling Company and was of the Baptist Faith.
Towns Funeral Home of Alamo was in charge of arrangements.

Oris T. Pittman
Graveside services for Otis T. Pittman of McRae were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13 in the Telfair Memorial Gardens.
The Rev. W.R. Connell officiated.
Pittman, 80, died Thursday, May 13, 2004. He was the son of the late Glenn W. and Lucretia Brown Pittman and was married to Jeanette Pittman of McRae.
He was a native of Wheeler County, and a resident of Telfair County for 23 years. He was a retired truck driver with Ryder Truck Lines and had served his country as a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was of the Methodist Faith.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his sons, Ronnie Pittman of McRae and Larry Pittman of Lumber City; brothers, John E. Pittman and Hearn Pittman, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; sisters, Annie Thomas of Alamo and Hazel Peters of Okeechobee, Fla. and two grandchildren.
Vaughn Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.

Estell Jones Stovall
Services for Estell Jones Stovall of McRae were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 18 in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with interment in the New Red Hill Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery.
The Rev. Roy Grimes, the Rev. Alvin Lewis and the Rev. Sonny Stovall officiated.
Stovall, 102, died Sunday, May 16, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Mike and Bessie Turman Jones and was the widow of Benjamin J. Stovall.
She was a native of Wilkes County, had lived in Wheeler County and had lived in Telfair County for the past 14 years. She was a homemaker and had been a member of New Red Hill Holiness Baptist Church since she was 23.
Survivors include her daughter, Ernestine Stovall of McRae; sons, Malette Stovall of McRae and Clinton (Martha) Stovall of Alamo; daughter-in-law, Lutrell Stovall of Milan and children, Janet and Phillip Price and Christy of Martinez and Wesley and Donna Strom, Bryan and Kim of Milan; great-grandson, Tyler Young of Alamo; grandson-in-law, Tony (Darlene) Young of Alamo and children, Jarred and Ryan.
Contributions may be made to the New Red Hill Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Opel Grimes, Rt. 2 Milan, 31060.

Dora Yancey Owens
Services for Dora Yancey Owens of Rhine were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 13 in Oak Grove United Methodist Church with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery.
The Rev. Emory Corbitt and the Rev. Roy Williams officiated.
Owens, 83, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004. She was the daughter of the late L. D. Yancey and Jessie Dowdy Yancey and was the widow of Samuel Pete Owens.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Dodge County and was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. She was a retired certified nursing assistant and dietary manager of McRae Manor Nursing Home.
Survivors include her son, Lewis “Sonny” Stanley of Rhine; sisters, Girlie Anderson of McRae and Pearl Howell of Macon; brothers, Willard Yancey and Jack Yancey, both of Rhine; 16 nieces and nephews.
Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home of Eastman was in charge of arrangements.
