Jimmye Conley Yancey
Services for Jimmye Conley Yancey of Rhine were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 18 in Hopewell Baptist Church with interment in Hopewell Cemetery.
The Rev. Michael Pollard and Mr. Bobby Ryals officiated.
Yancey, died Sunday, May 16, 2004. She was the daughter of the late James T. “Buster” Conley and Christine Harrell Conley and widow of Max Yancey.
She was a native of Dodge County. A member of Hopewell Baptist Church, a retired school teacher and florist.
Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn Y. Waller of Rhine; granddaughters, Marla Y. Pittman and Mori Y. Contreras.
Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home of Eastman was in charge of arrangements.
Rose Walker Allen
Services for Rose Walker Allen of Temple Terrace, Fla. were held at noon followed by internment at 2 p.m. at Zion Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
Allen, 77, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004. She was married to Selmer Allen. A native of Telfair County, she was employed by Sears for 32 years.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her sons, Richard Donald and Charles Kenneth; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Lowe’s Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of local arrangements.
Chris Dickerson
Services for Petty Officer 3rd Class Chris Dickerson of Eastman were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8 in Sweet Home Baptist Church with interment in Sweet Home Cemetery with full military honors.
Dickerson, 33, died Friday, April 30, 2004. He was the son of Gayle Revels and Jeffrey Dickerson and was married to Tracy Graham Dickerson of Eastman. He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Margaret B. Dickerson.
He was a native of Suffork County, New York. He was a maintenance supervisor for Telfair Regional Hospital in McRae, a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church. He attended Jay Bird Springs Baptist Church and served as a deck equipment operator with the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 14 of the U.S. Naval Reserves headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1992 and spent five years on active duty and reenlisted in the reserves in April 2003.
In addition to his wife and parents, survivors include his daughter, Skylar Dickerson of Eastman; stepfather, Ricky Revels; stepmother, Karen Dickerson; sister, Sherri Carmack; stepbrothers, Daniel Revels, Keith Revels, Richard Peacock and Rawn Peacock.
Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home of Eastman was in charge of arrangements.
Lee Edward Johnson
Services for Lee Edward Johnson will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15 at Greater Centilla Missionary Baptist Church of Helena with interment in the church cemetery.

Robert William Routh
Memorial services for Robert William Routh of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 15 at St. Peter Episcopal Church in New Smyrna Beach, Fla.
A local memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 29 at the McRae United Methodist Church.
Routh, 60, died Sunday, May 2, 2004. He was the son of the late Robert Henry and Robbie Campbell Routh and was married to Rebecca “Becky” Phillips Routh of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.
A native of Telfair County, he had resided in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. for many years. He was an international pilot with TWA for 22 years; a well respected attorney with a law practice in St. Marys for 10 years.
A member of the Bar in Georgia and in Washington, D.C., he was a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand, the only American admitted to the New Zealand bar in September of 1994. He was a recipient of a Masters in Law Degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. A well loved professor at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University for 10 years, specializing in Aviation Law, he was an innovative Dean of the School of Aviation at Universidad Interamericana in Puerto Rico, the largest private University in the Caribbean; an enthusiastic Scuba instructor, sailor and pilot.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his son, Hank of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; daughter, Laura of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. and sister, Libby Vaughn of McRae.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask contributions be made to Robert W. Routh Memorial Fund at St. Peter Episcopal Church, 4220 Saxon Drive, New Smyrna Beach, Fla. 32169.
Lelan A. Watkins
Services for Lelan A. Watkins of Milan were held at 3 p.m. Friday, May 7 in Sand Grove Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Hal Dickson and the Rev. Donald Whitman officiated.
Watkins, 76, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004. He was the son of the late Elvis Watkins and Georgia Peterson Watkins and was married to Javene Watkins of Milan.
He was a lifelong resident of Dodge County and a member of Sand Grove Baptist Church. He was the owner/operator of L.A. Watkins Inc., Jones-Sanders Builders Supply and L.A. Watkins Angus Farm.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughters, Pam Knowles and Deidre Greer, both of Milan; sons, Tim Watkins, Mike Watkins and Terry Watkins, all of Milan; sister, Sylvia Ann Stuckey of Orange Park, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Clifford M. Yawn
Services for Clifford M. Yawn of Eastman were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 9 at Eastman First Baptist Church with interment in Zion Hope Cemetery.
Dr. Jerry Peele and the Rev. Michael Pollard officiated.
Yawn, 81, died Thursday, May 6, 2004. He was the son of the late James Theo Yawn and Ruby Lou Strickland Yawn and was married to Gerry Dorsey Yawn. He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Sailor Kate Lee.
He was a native of Dodge County, a member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church. A World War II Veteran of the U. S. Navy, he was a retired civil service employee of Warner Robins Air Force Base.
He was a founding father and volunteer for the Christian Life Goodwill Center, a volunteer for meals on wheels and was instrumental in acquiring 911 for Dodge County. He was author of Yawn’s Yarns for the Times-Journal, a wedding photographer and was chairman of board of Election officials for many years.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his son, Clifford Randall Yawn Sr. of Helena; daughter, Kay Yawn of Denver, N.C.; sisters, Nell Grimsley and Pat Lundberg; brother, Charles Jack Yawn; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Lois Rebecca Wilson Williams
Services for Lois Rebecca Wilson Williams of Miami, Fla. were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 8 at Mayfield Zion AME Church of Alamo with interment in the Pine Acres Cemetery.
The Rev. Lodenia W. Coleman officiated.
Williams, died Sunday, May 2, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Willie and Susie J. Wilson and was the widow of Percy G. Williams.
She was a native of Wheeler County and was retired from the Jackson Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse in Miami, Fla.
Survivors include her sisters, Dr. Maudecca L. Wilson of Albany, Mattie B. McCloud of Jacksonville, Fla., Mary Joyce Wright of Douglas and Pansy W. McLendon of Dublin; brothers, Woodrow Wilson of Alamo and Carnell Wilson of McRae.
A.L. Spaulding Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.
David M. Billing
Services for David M. Billing of Armuchee were held at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2 in the Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with interment in the St. John Mausoleum of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The Honor Guard of Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion performed full military rites.
The Rev.Jay Greener and the Rev. Michael Dunbar officiated.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced in the McRae United Methodist Church.
Billing, 77, died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at his home. He was the son of late Hilding Billing and Hildegard Perrson Billing and was married to Vivian Coalson Billing. He was also preceded in death by his twin brother,Hank Billing.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., he spent his youth and young adult life in Southhampton,N.Y., graduating from Southhampton High School in 1944 as valedictorian. He attended Virginia Military Institute in 1944 and graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1949.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving from 1944-1946 in the Army Signal Corp. From 1949-1952, he was consultant engineer with Kurt Salmon Associates,Inc., before becoming Vice-President for Manufacturing with Roydon Wear, Inc. in McRae. He retired in 1992 with 40 years service to the Company. In 1996, he and his wife moved to Rome, Ga. to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
He was very active member of the McRae United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday School for many years. For the past seven years, he had been a faithful servant of the Lord at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Rome. He served on the Board of Directors for Security State Bank in McRae and Farmers State Bank in Dublin. He also was very active in civic organizations in McRae, being President of the Rotary Club, the Lions Club and Jaycees and chairman of the Telfair County Hospital Authority for eight years. His hobbies included building and repairing things for others, working in the yard, but most of all spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved following his children and grandchildren’s school and sporting activities.
In addition to his wife, survivors include daughters, Elaine Cooper of Rome, Lynn Boger of Woodstock and Diana Billing of Atlanta; sister Elsa Drake of Rome and six grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to McRae United Methodist Church, McRae, Ga. 31055, to Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 1818 Kingston Rd., Rome, Ga. 30161 or Heyman Hospice Care, P.O. Box 163, Rome, Ga. 30162.
