STILLMORE--Funeral for Sybil S. Pierson will be held Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Rev. Louis Pearce and Dr. Barry Owens officiating. Burial will be in Stillmore City Cemetery. She died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2004 at Swainsboro Nursing Home.
Mrs. Pierson was a native of Stillmore, a homemaker and the oldest member of Stillmore Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Frances Pierson Creech of Stillmore; and Judy Earls of Stillmore; a sister, Mary Clyde Ellison of Ninety Six, S.C.; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James Creech, Tim Creech, Joseph Earls, Timothy Creech Jr., Jonathan Creech and Dewayne Gallagher.

Jerry Fann Sr., 57
TWIN CITY--Funeral for Jerry Fann, Sr, 57, was held at 11a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005 at the Rountree Grove Baptist Church in Twin City. Burial was in the church cemetery. He died Friday, Dec. 31, 2004 in the Candler County Hospital after an extended illness.
Mr. Fann was a native of Emanuel County and a member of Rountree Grove Baptist Church in Twin City. In 1966, he joined the United States Army. He was honorably discharged after a tour of duty in Vietnam.
Survivors include, his mother, Marion Fann of Twin City; four sons, Anthony Fann of Baltimore, Md.,; Romulus Fann of Augusta; Jerry Fann, Jr. of Twin City; and Jamal Fann of Millem; three daughters, Tomeka Fann McNeely of Augusta; and Marcus Ann Williams and Tyronda Mack, both of Twin City; one brother, Perry Fann of Twin City; one sister, Gail Fann of Twin City; and 12 grandchildren.

Horace C. Cavanah Jr.
SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Horace C. Cavanah Jr. was held Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Rev. Bunny Hudson and Rev. Louis Pearce officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery. He died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004 at University Hospital in Augusta.
Mr. Cavanah was born in Effingham County but had lived here most of his life. He retired from the state of Georgia and was a member of Friendship Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brother, Guy Cavanah.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Cavanah of Swainsboro; three sons, Gary Cavanah of Twin City; Jerry Cavanah of Macon; and Bill Cavanah of Swainsboro; a brother, Joseph Cavanah of Cochran; two sisters, Florence Bailey of Macon; and Sarah Russell of Swainsboro; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Kirk Cavanah, Brian Cavanah, Jamie Edenfield, Roy Chester Jr., Bill Lewis and Allen Amerson.

Ellis Mosley, 61
TWIN CITY--Funeral for Ellis Mosley, 61, was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005 at the W.H. Whitaker Memorial Chapel at Whitaker Funeral Home in Metter. Burial was in the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church cemetery in Emanuel County. He died Thursday, Dec.30, 2004 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro.
Mr. Mosley was a native and lifelong resident of Emanuel County. For many years he was employed by the United Postal Service and Hendley Transfer Company. He attended Full Deliverance Church in Swainsboro.
Survivors include his wife, Mozelle Mosley of Twin City; two sons, Gregory Jordan of Twin City; and Fabian Jackson of Boston, Mass.; two daughters, Tammi Marion of Swainsboro; and Christine Pullens of Hephzibah; three brothers, Johnny Mosley of Twin City; Nathaniel Rozier of Moultrie; and James Palmer of Augusta; three sisters, Mary Tillman of Swainsboro; Eliza Lawrence of Cambridge, Mass.; and Juanita Mosley of Portal; and five grandchildren.

Rebecca Taylor Schwabe, 82
SWAINSBORO--Funerall for Rebecca Taylor Schwabe, 82 was held Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne DeFore and Rev. Susan Blair officiating. Burial was in Swainsboro City Cemetery. She died Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, at her residence after an extended illness.
Mrs. Schwabe, a native of Peach County, taught school in Fitzgerald, Metter and Swainsboro for 30 years. She was twice honored as Star Teacher and was a charter member and first president of the Beta Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a member and former Regent of the David Emanuel Chapter of the Daughters of The American Revolution and received her 50 year membership certificate this year. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Wesleyan Bible Study Circle. She was wife of the late Ed Schwabe, Sr.
Survivors include three sons, Francis Edward Schwabe, Jr. of Swans Island, Maine; Charles Taylor Schwabe of Swainsboro; and Jonathan Schwabe of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four grandchildren, Clarke Schwabe and Phillip Schwabe of Swainsboro, Kate Schwabe of New York, N.Y. and Lt. Clay Schwabe of Ft Carson, Colo.

Marguerite H. Stephens, 76
ADRIAN--Funeral for Marguerite Hutchinson Stephens, 76, was held Thursday April 21, 2005 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary with Elder Franklin Bryant officiating. Burial was in Mt.Zion Primitive Baptist Church cemetery near Adrian. She died Tuesday April 19, 2005 at Fairview Park Hospital after an extended illness.
Mrs. Stephens was a native of Emanuel County, a homemaker, retired from Mohawk Carpets in Dublin, and a Primitive Baptist. She was the wife of the late Perry Jack Stephens.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-inlaw, Cathy and Joe Hall of Adrian; Kandis and Bobby Coxwell of Adrian; and Martha Neal of Adrian; one brother, Thurmond Hutchinson of Adrian; seven grandchildren, Candi Coxwell of Adrian; Stephen Coxwell of Adrian; Nichole and James Bond of Lizella; Jodi Hall Hardy of Adrian; Buffy and Stacy McLendon of Adrian; Charlotte Neal of Kite; and Jeff Neal of Adrian; and five great-grandchildren

John L. Culbreth, 51
SWAINSBORO--Funeral for John L. Culbreth, 51, was held Saturday, April 16, 2005 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Mosley’s Funeral Home with Pastor Amos Handsom officiating and Elder D.G. Mosley assisting. Burial was in Willow Spring Cemetery.
Mr. Culbreth was born Jan. 25, 1954 to the late Ira Pearl Culbreth and Naymon Culbreth. He was a native of Emanuel County. He attended Emanuel County Institute and was a veteran of the U.S.. Army.
Survivors include his stepmother, Sherbie Jean Culbreth of Twin City; five brothers, Jimmy Gerald Daniels of West Palm Beach, Fla.; Thomas Daniels of Lawrenceville; Otis Culbreth of Twin City; Naymon Culbreth Jr. of Statesboro; and Andrew Culbreth of Twin City; five sisters, Betty Jean Taylor of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Willene Williams, Joann Bell, Pamela Culbreth and Sherlyn Brown, all of Twin City.

Mildred Peacock Cowart, 80
STATESBORO--Funeral for Mildred Peacock Cowart, 80, was held Sunday, April 10, 2005 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Chapel with Rev. Stewart Moody officiating. Burial was in Twin City cemetery in Twin City. She died Thursday, April 7, 2005 at Heritage Inn Nursing Home.
Mrs. Cowart was a native of Treutlen County and a member of First Baptist Church of States-boro where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of Magnolia Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.R. (Dick) Cowart and her brother, Freddie Peacock.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Cowart Wilson of Blue Ridge; and Lynne Cowart of States-boro; three sons, Richard James Cowart of Brooklet; and Randy M. Cowart and Wendell R. Cowart Jr., of Statesboro; two brothers, Harold Peacock of Napa, Calif.; and Bobby Peacock of Twin City; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Buddy Olliff, 57
METTER--Funeral for William Lewis "Buddy" Olliff, 57, was held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2005 at Morgan Family Funeral Home with with Rev. Gordon D. Dukes, Jr. and Elder Tommy Roun-tree officiating. Burial was in the Rosemary Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. He died Thursday, April 7, 2005.
Mr. Olliff was a Candler County native and lived most of his life in the Metter and Ollifftown areas. He was a member of New Beulah United Methodist Church. He worked for over 25 years in the logging industry and on his farm with the cows. He loved to work in his garden, fish, watch his grandsons race motorcycles, and be a friend to everyone.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Lee Olliff, of Metter; sons Ashley Olliff and Adam Olliff of Metter; mother, Sybol Olliff Toole of Metter; sister Martha Farrow of Midville; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Lee Durden, Jeff Durden, Tommy Hunt, Clint Colley, Brinson Lanier, Ike Webb, Bill Mercer, Ronnie Ponder, Dean Monroe, Blake Monroe and Troy Oglesby. Honorary pallbearers were Edenfield’s Morning Coffee Bunch and the Metter High School Class of 1966.

Joan Collins, Leggett, 71
METTER--Funeral for Joan Collins Leggett, 71, was held Friday, March 25, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Metter Primitive Baptist Church with Elder John Sheldon Mikell and Mike Whelchel officiating. Burial was in Lake Cemetery. She died Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at her home.
Mrs. Leggett was a Candler County native and lifelong resident. She was retired from Agriculture Department of Farm Service Agency (ASCS) with over 30 years of employment. She was a member of the National Republican Committee, Metter Primitive Baptist Church and Trapnell-Dekle Sunday School Class. She was an avid gardener and loved the farmers of Candler County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hoke Leggett.
Survivors include four sons, Van Williams of Talladega, Ala.; Stevie Williams and Paul Williams of Metter; Benjie Williams of Douglas; her mother, Eunice Collins of Metter; brothers, Bobby Ray Collins of Twin City; and Joey Collins of Metter; sisters, Joyce Watson of Twin City; June Jarriel of Centerville; and Jam Bowers of Metter; a special friend, Ben Gray; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Fredia R. Abney Poole, 82
ADRIAN--Funeral for Fredia Roberta Abney Poole, 82, was held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2005 in the chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Rev. Morris Brantley, Rev. Jesse Yawn and Pastor Kevin Farmer officiating. Burial was in Holton Chapel cemetery in Treutlen County. She died Monday, April 4, 2005.
Mrs. Poole was a native of Walker County and was the daughter of the late W. Luther Abney Sr. and Maude Victoria Williams Abney. She was married
to the late Henry Clyde Poole. A retired school teacher of 37 years, she was voted the 1977 Teacher of the Year in the Adrian School System. She was a member of the Emanuel County Retired Teachers Association and Adrian Garden Club; a member of Adrian Baptist Church, where she served as music director for 42 years; and member of the WMU.
Survivors include a daughter, Suzanne Poole of Adrian; four sisters, Mary Ella Smith, Virginia Ezell and Myra Wilhelm of LaFayette; and Martha Fricks of Rome; and a brother, Ray Abney of LaFayette.
Pallbearers were Jon Mills, Tyson Stephens, Johnny Crosby, Larry Henry, Perry Poole, Doug Hutchinson, Terry Eden-field and Sonny Stephens. Honorary pallbearers were members of Marie Harrison Sunday School Class, Adrian Baptist Church Choir and former teachers who taught her.

MOULTRIE--Graveside service for J.W. "Jimmy" Sanderson, 67, was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Sanderson cemetery in Dillon, S.C. with Rev. Archie Prevatt officiating. He died Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Sanderson was a former resident of Swains-boro. He was a resident at Sunrise Nursing Home and was previously self-employed as an insurance adjuster. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a Baptist. He was the son of the late James E. Sanderson and Lessie Jane Sanderson.
Survivors include sisters, Jane Sanderson Led-ford and husband B.F. of Union, S.C.; and Doris Sanderson Sirosky of Darlington, S.C.; sisters-in-law, Ann Sanderson of Moultrie; Jean Sanderson of Greenville, S.C.; Gene Sanderson of Florence, S.C.; and Johie Sanderson of Grand Rapids, Mich.; niece and nephew, Cindy Sanderson Newsome and husband Wayne of Moultrie; and Jeff Sanderson and wife Teresa of LaGrange; and great-nephews Taylor and Cory Newsome and Will Sanderson.

James L. "Sammy" Hutchinson, 91
DUBLIN--Funeral for James Lambuth "Sammy" Hutchinson, 91, was held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2005 at First United Methodist Church, Dublin with Rev. Gene Cochran and Dr. Jack Key officiating. Burial was in Kea’s United Methodist Church cemetery in Adrian. He died Tuesday, April 5, 2005.
Mr. Hutchinson was a native of Adrian and was the son of the late Joseph Brown Hutchinson and the late Seffie Lucille Fountain Hutchinson. He graduated from Adrian High School and attended Young Harris College and graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science, Nashville, Tenn. He moved to Dublin in 1948 with Adams Funeral Home. Later, he opened the Best Furniture Co. Inc. and was President and Manager for 22 years until he retired. He was active in the church and community life and was a member of First United Methodist Church, administrative board for many years and served as chairman. He was past president of Friendship Sunday School Class, member of the Chancel Choir and led the Sunday Evening congregational singing for many years; past president and charter member of the Key Memorial Foundation; past president of the Lions Club; served on the Dublin City Council; and was a member of the Laurens County Historical Society.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Lou (Billie) Sumner Hutchinson of Dublin; son, Larry Sumner Hutchinson and wife Karen of Adrian; daughter, Mary Ann Hutchinson Vessey and husband Don of Staunton, Va.; sisters, Kathryn Hutchinson McLaughlin of Chamblee; and Seffie Lee Hutchinson Hunter of Fitzgerald; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Garbutt Fountain, Bobby Fountain, George B. Hutchinson, John Sellers, Tommy Proctor, Neil McCord.
