METTER--Funeral for Joan Collins Leggett, 71, was held Friday, April 1, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Metter Primitive Baptist Church with Elder John Sheldon Mikell and Mike Whelchel officiating. Burial was in Lake Cemetery. She died Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at her home.
Mrs. Leggett was a Candler County native and lifelong resident. She was retired from Agriculture Department of Farm Service Agency (ASCS) with over 30 years of employment. She was a member of the National Republican Committee, Metter Primitive Baptist Church and Trapnell-Dekle Sunday School Class. She was an avid gardener and loved the farmers of Candler County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hoke Leggett.
Survivors include four sons, Van Williams of Talladega, Ala.; Stevie Williams and Paul Williams of Metter; Benjie Williams of Douglas; her mother. Eunice Collins of Metter; brothers, Bobby Ray Collins of Twin City; and Joey Collins of Metter; a special friend, Ben Gray; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mike Donaldson, Allen Thigpen, John Paul Johnson, Carlton Clifton. Bill Patterson and Lamar DeLoach. Honorary pallbearers were Trapnell-Dekle Sunday School Class.

Pauline Moore Edenfield, 86
METTER---Funeral for Pauline Moore Edenfield, 86, was held Monday April 4, 2005 2 p.m. at Antioch Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. William Garrett, Rev. Inman Gerrald and Rev. Wilmer Hall officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. She died Friday April, 1 2005 at the Candler County Hospital.
Mrs. Edenfield was a native of Emanuel County and lived most of her life in Candler County. She was a member of Scarboro Missionary Baptist Church, a homemaker, great cook and loved to work in her yard and garden. The love of her life was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband R. J. Eden-field, Sr.; and grandson Robert J. Edenfield, III.
Survivors include two sons and Bobby Edenfield of Metter; and Jerry Eden-field of Swainsboro; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Toby Wells, Luther Bell, Tommy Woods, Johnny Wells, Donny Wells and John Bill.

James Dean Edenfield, 42
ADRIAN--Funeral for James Dean Edenfield, 42, was held Saturday, April 2, 2005, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary with Elder Tommy Rountree officiating. Burial was in Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. He died Wednesday, March 30, 2005 in Gwinnett County.
Mr. Edenfield was a native of Emanuel County, employed with Ohoopee Contractors and was son of the late Ivey Edenfield.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Gregory Edenfield of Adrian; his mother, Lady Screws Scar-boro of Twin City; three daughters, Brandi Wilkerson and Mandy Wilkerson of Adrian; and Nicole Fortescue of Swainsboro; three stepdaughters, Jan Hope Slater of Swainsboro; Celita Michelle Slater of Canoochee; and Jamie Akridge of Florida; one son, Shannon Wilkerson of Twin City; three sisters, Leila Brown of Twin City; Valerie Edenfield of Texas; and Jeannie Kirby of Swainsboro; one brother, Daniel Edenfield of Swainsboro; and eight grandchildren.

Ray J. Lee
SANDERSVILLE--Funeral for Ray J. Lee was held Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Rathburn and Rev. Allen Meeks officiating. Burial was in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. He died March 27, 2005 at Washington Regional Medical Center in Sandersville after a brief illness.
Mr. Lee was born in Emanuel County to William Edward and Sara Sumner Lee. He had lived all his life in Johnson County and worked at metal fabrication with Ben Ross. He was preceded in death by his father, William Edward Lee; and son, T.J. Lee.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Sara Lee of Kite; a daughter, Jill Lee of Milledgeville; and two brothers, Sammy Lee and Bennie Lee of Kite.
Pallbearers were Tim Lee, Matthew Lee, Robert Lee, David Lee, Nolan Mimbs, Mickey Mimbs, Donnie Price and Johnny Price.

Clarence Newman, 75
GRAY--Funeral for Clarence Newman, 75, was held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 4, 2005, in the chapel of Bridges Funeral Home with Dr. Ron Mc-Clung officiating. Burial was at Middle Georgia Memory Gardens. He died Friday, April 1, 2005, in a local nursing home after an extended illness.
Mr. Newman was the son of the late William Newman and Mattie Sumner Newman. He was born on Oct. 11, 1929 in Emanuel County and had lived in Gray for the past 40 years. He retired as a supervisor with Eastside Lumber Company in Macon and was a member of Haddock Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Grace Newman of Gray; stepdaughters Elizabeth Davis and Deloris Martin, both of Gray; and Pat McAlum of Asheville, N.C.; three brothers; three sisters; and seven step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.

Lula McDaniel, 82
ADRIAN--Funeral for Lula McDaniel, 82, was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2005 in the chapel of Sammons Funeral Home of Soperton with Rev. Inman Gerrald officiating. Burial was in Northview cemetery in Dublin. She died Wednesday, March 30, 2005.
Mrs. McDaniel was born in Emanuel County and lived in Tifton for 41 years before moving to Adrian seven months ago. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Leila Ricks Spell. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Reba Grace Stephens and Betty Ruth Rogers. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church of Tifton.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas B. McDaniel; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Garnette and Claudine Stephens of Adrian; J.D. McDaniel of Lake Sinclair; and Scharlene M. Moore of Dudley.

Lucille Davis Shuemake, 85
SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Lucille Davis Shue-make, 85, was held Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Mount Moriah A.M.E. Church with Rev. James Days officiating. She died March 25, 2005.
Mrs. Shuemake was born in Garfield to the late Missouri and John Davis. She attended school in Emanuel County. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Mt. Moriah A.M.E. Church where she served on the Ushers’ Board and various auxiliaries. Preceding her in death were five siblings and two stepchildren, Bobby Shuemake and Patricia Shuemake.
Survivors include a son, Moses Shuemake; a sister, Fannie Rawls; a brother, Charlie Thomas; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were cousins, nephews and friends of the family.

Roscoe A. ‘Rocky’ Youmans
BRUNSWICK--Funeral for Mr. Roscoe A. “Rocky” Youmans, will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at the chapel of BWK Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in BWK Memorial Park cemetery with full military honors. The Rev. Michael Batten will officiate.
He died Sunday, March 6, at Hospice at Golden Isles.
Mr. Youmans was a resident of Glynn County since 1969 and a native of Swainsboro. He was retired from the US Air Force after 22 years service. He served in three wars.
Survivors include his wife Betty Youmans of Brunswick; a sister, Frankie Keil of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, George Youmans of Swainsboro; and several nieces and nephews.

GARFIELD--Funeral for Audrey Louise Kay Oglesby, 78, was held Thursday, March 3, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Garfield Baptist Church. Burial was in Hebron Cemetery. She died Tuesday, March 1, 2005.
Mrs. Oglesby was a native of Emanuel County and retired from Atkinson Pecan Products. She was a member of Garfield Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie L. Oglesby.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra O. Cowart of Garfield; two sisters, Imogene Turner of Statesboro; and Willie Bell Bishop of Garfield; a brother, Roy Kay of Augusta; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Barnett Ely, 75
SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Barnett Ely, 75, will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Eastwood Church of God with Rev. Bruce Flowers and Elder Tommy Rountree officiating. Burial will be in Eastbrook Cemetery. He died Monday, March 7, 2005 at his residence.
Mr. Ely was born in Johnson County but had lived all his life in Swainsboro. He served in the United States Army, was a retired truck driver and a member of Eastwood Church of God. He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ely; and a brother, Jimmy Ely.
Survivors include three sons, Ricky Ely of Dellwood; Danny Ely of Swainsboro; and Rev. Gregory Ely of Great Falls, Mont.; a daughter, Cheariea Ely of Swainsboro; three brothers, James Ely of Blackville; H.B. Ely of Dellwood; and Leland Ely of Soperton; two sisters, Ruby Canady of Swainsboro; and Doris Thigpen of Swainsboro; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

J.C. “Muggs” Daniels, 51
SWAINSBORO--Funeral for J.C. “Muggs” Daniels, 51, was held Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at 1 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Alfred Cason officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. He died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005.
Mr. Daniels moved to New York in 1966. He moved back to Swainsboro in 1978 and was employed with Johnson’s Construction as a mason for many years. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Preceding him in death was his wife, Nelly Gatson; a sister and three brothers.
Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Holmes of Jersey City, N.J.; and Kashelle Barnes of Atlantic City, N.J.; five sons, Shannon Stevens of Swainsboro; Glenn Daniels, Jerome Daniels, Tyrone Daniels and Jerry Daniels, all of Jamaica, N.Y.; Nancy Colbert of Barstow, Calif.; seven brothers, Bennie Daniels, Hartman Daniels and Charles Daniels of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Velma Daniels of Jamaica, N.Y.; Ronnie Daniels, Thomas Daniels and Eddie Daniels of Swainsboro; and 13 grandchildren.

Nina M. Faulkner, 91
COLUMBUS--Memorial service for Mrs. Nina M. Faulkner was held Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005 at 4 p.m. at Rose Hill Baptist Church. Burial followed in Parkhill Cemetery.
She died Monday, Feb. 14, in Charlotte, N.C.
Mrs. Faulkner was born in Emanuel County on February 22, 1918, daughter of the late Thomas Allen Meeks and Rosalee Thigpen Meeks. She had lived in Columbus since 1948 and was an active member of Rose Hill Baptist Church for the past 50 years where she served in the nursery for more than 24 years. Her husband Grover Lynn Faulkner and her son Jimmy Faulkner preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynn Viets of Clover, S.C.; a son, Charles Faulkner of Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Laura Love of Swainsboro; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
