Peggy Kate Bell, 52
TWIN CITY--Funeral for Peggy Kate Bell, 52, was held Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Emanuel County Institute Auditorium with Rev. Bennie Brinson officiating and Rev. Alfred Cason assisting. Burial was in Phillips cemetery in Lexsy. She died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005 after an extended illness.
Mrs. Bell was born on Feb. 26, 1952 in Emanuel County to the late H.S. Phillips Sr. and Clara Phillips. She was active in many organizations throughout the community including PIN Club, Gospel Singing Association. She was also the first female city council member of Twin City. She worked with Mosley’s Funeral Home staff for many years. She was a 1970 graduate of Swainsboro High School and a graduate of Brewton Parker College. She was employed by Emanuel County Board of Education as a family support provider for Swainsboro Middle and High schools. She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Lexsy where she served as president of the J.B. Gospel Singers for 32 years. She was preceded in death by her brother, Rufus Phillips.
Survivors include her husband, Willie Lee Bell of Twin City; three daughters, Valarie and Clarissa Bell of Statesboro; and Danielle Bell of Twin City; two brothers, H.S. Phillips Jr., and Leroy Phillips of Stillmore; three sisters, Verlie Bobbitt and Dessie Mae Woods of Stillmore; and Geneva Wadley of Swainsboro; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were from Parents in Action Club and the Gospel Sing Association of Emanuel County.

Harry E. Flanders Sr., 90
THOMASTON--Funeral for Harry E. Flanders Jr., 90, was held Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Thomaston with Rev. Bill Barber and Dr. Edwin L. Cliburn officiating. Burial was in Swainsboro City cemetery at 4 p.m. He died Feb. 16, 2005 at Providence Health Care in Thomaston.
Mr. Flanders was a native of Emanuel County and born in Swainsboro on Sept. 28, 1914. He was the son of the late Charlton F. Flanders and Anne May Shelton. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was superintendent of the Thomaston Water and Waste Department from 1956 to 1978. He received the William H. Weir Award from Georgia Water and Sewage Association in 1961. He also received an award for the most improved water facility in the United States from American Water Works Association in Toronto, Canada in 1964. He received the Herman F. Wideman Award from American Waste Water Association in 1966 for the best water treatment system and the outstanding service award from the city of Thomaston in 1977. Mr. Flanders was a member of First Baptist Church and an officer and member of the Men’s Bible Class. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Hunnicutt Flanders.
Survivors include his daughter, Harriet Hickman of Rapidan, Va.; two sons, Harry E. Flanders Jr. of Augusta; and James G. (Jim) Flanders of California, Md.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Barbara Ann Hood, 49
KITE--Funeral for Barbara Ann Hood, 49, was held Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Oak Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Jenkins and Rev. Lamar Kersey officiating. Burial was in Moxley Cemetery. She died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005 at her residence.
Mrs. Hood was born on Jan. 2, 1956 in Emanuel County to Clarence and Louise Hall Stapleton. She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Stapleton.
Survivors include her husband, Wadell Hood of Kite; her mother, Louise Stapleton of Kite; two sons, Chris Hood of Atlanta; and Randy Hood of Kite; two stepsons, William Hood and Dean Hood, both of Kite; a stepdaughter, Eloise Hodges of Kite; two brothers, Clarence Stapleton Jr. of Kite; and Irvin Stapleton of Swainsboro; two sisters, Charlene Stapleton and Geraldine Riner, both of Kite; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Johnny R. “Ray” Holder, 62
CAMILLA--Funeral for Johnny Raymond “Ray” Holder was held Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Camilla United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Trawick and Rev. Glen Yelverton officiating. Burial was at Oakview Cemetery. He died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005 at Mitchell County Hospital.
Mr. Holder was born on Jan. 30, 1943 in Chatham County. He was vice president and general manager of Alabama Crown Distribution Company in Montgomery, Ala. for 20 years and retired as vice president and general manager of Georgia Crown Distributing Company of Albany after five years of service. He was a member of Camilla United Methodist Church, Camilla Rotary Club, American Legion Post 141 and United Methodist Men’s Group. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved training dogs. He attended Troy State University on a football scholarship. He was the son of the late Johnny Raymond Holder Sr. and Mary Virginia Dyson Holder.
Survivors include his wife, Ouida Good Holder of Camilla; a son, Daniel Collin Holder and wife Dayo Williams Holder of Jacksonville, Fla.; a granddaughter, Morgan Elizabeth Holder of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Billy G. Holder and wife Linda of Swainsboro; a nephew, Mickey T. Holder of Independence, Va.; and a niece, Billie Jean Holder of Atlanta.

Willie Gene Patterson, 80
NUNEZ--Funeral for Willie Gene “Shag” Patterson, 80, was held Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005 at Ohoopee Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Stanley Moore officiating. Burial was in Flat Ford Cemetery. He died Jan. 27, 2005 at Candler Hospital in Savannah after an extended illness.
Mr. Patterson was born on July 4, 1924 in Emanuel County to Ellis and Fannie Patterson Sr. He lived in Emanuel County for 80 years and was a member of Ohoopee Grove Baptist Church in Nunez. He was preceded in death by his father, Ellis Patterson Sr.; his mother, Fannie Patterson; a son, Leotis Patterson; sisters, Leomia Gordon and Pernessa “Dut” Jones; brothers, Jimmy Lee Patterson, Ellis Patterson Jr., Fred Patterson and Henry Patterson Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Dora Lee Patterson; nine children, Shirley Newton of Millen; Lorine Gordon of Stillmore; Willie Patterson Jr. of Swainsboro; Lettie Allen and Thomas Patterson of Stillmore; Ellis Patterson of Statesboro; Don Patterson and Tennie Phillips of Metter; and Felicia Byrd of Decatur; two brothers, Aster Patterson of Massillon, Ohio; and Wylie “Sherman” Patterson of Salem, Ohio; three sisters, Fannie “Tink” Smith, Wilma Bennafield and Ruby “Dee” George, all of Canton, Ohio; 30 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Carvie “Buddy” Claxton Jr., 58
SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Carvie “Buddy” Claxton, Jr., 58, will be held Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the Eastwood Church of God with Rev. Jerry Greer and Rev. Billy Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Union Primitive Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Bruce Flowers officiating. He died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, at his residence after an extended illness.
Mr. Claxton was a native of Emanuel County and served in the US Marines for 8 years. He was a mechanic for McGowan Motors, worked in maintenance for the City Of Swainsboro and with Roberts Service Station. He attended Eastwood Church of God and was son of the late Thelma Gregory Claxton.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Faye Flanders Claxton of Swainsboro; his father, Carvie Claxton, Sr. of Swainsboro; three sons, Carvie Claxton, III, Travis Cameron Claxton and Caleb Morgan Claxton of Swainsboro; five sisters, Mary Wilson of Kingsland; Patricia Radford of Augusta, GA, Jeannene Sumner of Guyton, GA, Gloria Scarboro and Linda Scarboro both of Swainsboro; and one brother, Robert Glenn Claxton of Lithonia.

Martha Nell (Mixon) Warnock, 84
SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Martha Nell (Mixon) Warnock, 84, was held Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Swainsboro with Rev. Robert Anderson and Dr. Robert Blankenship officiating. Burial was in the Tarrytown Cemetery. She died Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, at her residence after an extended illness.
Mrs. Warnock was a native of Montgomery County and a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Agape Sunday School Class, the Adult Choir, the Happy Rovers and a volunteer at the Emanuel Medical Center. She was predeceased by her husband, James Tillman Warnock.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jim and Paulette Warnock and Bill Warnock of Soperton; and Ken and Denise Warnock of Swainsboro; two sisters, Judy M. Harris of Cordele; and Fannie Bell M. Warnock of Terrytown; six grandchildren, J. T. Warnock of Soperton; Tina Parham and Brittney Warnock both of Marietta; Brooke McBride of Twin City; Brandi Warnock of Statesboro; and Cameron Warnock of Swainsboro; and four great-grandchildren; and two special friends, Emma Brown and Sara B. Waters.

James Colen Corbin, 52
SWAINSBORO--Graveside service for James Colen Corbin, 52, was held Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Corbin Family cemetery near Oak Park. He died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, at his residence.
Mr. Corbin was a native of Toombs County, a long haul truck driver with Schneider National Trucking Co. and a Baptist. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Vietnam.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Becki and Ken Clifton of Swainsboro; one son, Don Michael Corbin of Swainsboro; his mother, Mary Kirby Corbin of Swainsboro; one grandson, Ean Clifton of Swainsboro; and a special friend, Nikki McKinstry of Swainsboro.

Raymond Grant, 66
KITE--Funeral for Raymond Grant, 66, will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 3 p.m. at Rehoboth Baptist Church with Rev. James Willis, Rev. James Covington and Rev. Sammy Hall officiating. Burial will be in Corinth Methodist Church Cemetery.
He died Sunday, July 10, 2005 at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin after a brief illness.
Mr. Grant was born on Jan. 26, 1939 and has been a lifelong resident of Johnson County. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Perry Grant and Annie Crabb Grant.
Survivors include his wife, Gale Hall Grant; three daughters, Patricia Woods and husband, Aaron; Teresa Hutcheson, Lisa Wilcher and husband, Wayne, all of Kite; two brothers, Billy Grant of Kite; and Sammy Grant of Beach Island, S.C.; two sisters, Quida Buchanan of Waynesboro; and Margie Howard of Martinez; six grandchildren, Brian and Brint Woods, Tiffany and Kayla Webb, Lewis Fortner and Hali Wilcher.

Sandra B. Parrish, 67
SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Sandra B. Parrish, 67, was held Sunday, July 10, 2005 at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Elder Gary Johnson officiating. Graveside service was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at Edgewater New Smyrna cemetery in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. She died Thursday, July 7, 2005 at Candler County Hospital in Savannah.
Mrs. Parrish was formerly of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. and was born in Georgia. She was a retired bank teller and attended Bethel Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Parrish Sr. of Swainsboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Hal Waggoner of Mechanicsburg, Ill.; three sons, Greg Gilbert of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; Kenneth Parrish Jr. of Titusville, Fla.; and Anthony Parrish of Raleigh, N.C.; a sister, Margaret Richardson of Douglasville; and six grandchildren.

Eathel R. Sconyers Curry, 92
SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Mrs. Eathel Rich Sconyers Curry, 92 were held Monday, July 11, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary with Rev .Ben Edwards officiating. She died on Thursday, July 7, 2005 at the Emanuel Medical Center Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Mrs. Curry was a native of Emanuel County, a retired nurse and Advent Christian. She was the daughter of the late William Allen and Lillie Parrish Rich and mother of the late James Sconyers and wife of the late Walter Sconyers and Julius Curry
Survivors include one daughter, Ellen Miller of Brazil, Ind.; two sons, George Sconyers of Alhambra, IL. and Bill Sconyers of Swainsboro; one step-son: David Curry of Mt. Vernon; 10 grandchildren and 20 greatgrandchildren.

Kelly Phillips III, 32
SWAINSBORO-- Funeral for Kelly Phillips III, 32, was held Saturday, June 25, 2005 at 2 p.m. at First Church of God in Christ in Soperton. He died June 18, 2005 at Shands Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla. Burial was in Boiling Springs cemetery in Soperton.
Mr. Phillips was born on March 13, 1973 to Kelly Phillips II and the late Beauty Bell (Telfair) Phillips in Swainsboro. He attended Swainsboro Elementary School before moving to Jacksonville, Fla. where he attended Andrew Jackson Senior High School. He joined Greater New Mount Lilla Missionary Baptist Church under pastorship of Rev. Samuel Norris.
Survivors include his daughter, Kayla T. Phillips; four sisters, Deborah Jenkins and Shana Phillips, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; Kathy Phillips of Statesboro; and Effie Phillips of Augusta; three brothers, Curtis Phillips and Jeffery Phillips of Jacksonville. Fla.; and Carlton Howard of Swainsboro.
