Obituary: Mrs. Amy Ruth Herrin Fuller, 90, of Powder Springs formerly of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at Portsbridge Hospice in Austell. She was born October 17, 1915 in Carroll County, Georgia the daughter of the late Mr. Samuel Moses Herrin and the late Mrs. Emma Lee Hackney Herrin. She married
John Thomas “J.T.” Fuller on October 17, 1931 in New Georgia. She was a member of White Oak Springs Baptist Church. She was a seamstress for Camp Cap Company. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James “J.T.” Thomas Fuller; son, Samuel Thomas Fuller; sisters, Euretha Fuller, Zema Howard, Grace Herrin, Zelma Herrin; brothers, Paul Herrin, Willie Grissom Herrin, Bernard Herrin, and Carl Herrin. She is survived by three grandchildren, Patricia and Joel Fortenberry of Powder Springs, Joni Petty of Lithia Springs, Kenneth and Twana Worthan; 7 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, February 2, 2006 at 2:00 PM from the Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel with Brother Joel Fortenberry officiating. Obituary: Mr. Frank Foster Sims, 79, of River Bend Court, Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Monday, January 30, 2006 at his residence. He was born April 4, 1926, in Birmingham, Alabama. He was the son of the late John Lewis Sims, II and the late Cora Applegate Foster Sims. Mr. Sims was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II. He was a member of the Temple United Methodist Church in Temple, Georgia. Mr. Sims was a member of the Lions Club in Hiawassee, Georgia having served as President. He was also a member of the Temple Masonic Lodge #322 F&AM and a Shriner. Mr. Sims was retired from Goodyear Tire Company as an inventory manager. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. June Crenshaw Sims of Villa Rica; his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Sims McIntosh and Richard J. McIntosh of Temple; brother and sister-in-law, John Lewis Sims, III and Annie Laura Sims of Birmingham, Alabama; 2 grandchildren, Jennifer and Jammey Townsend and Matthew McIntosh; 3 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Foster McIntosh, Joslyn Lenora Townsend and Joshua Foster Townsend; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at 10:00 AM from the Temple United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Williams officiating. She was the daughter of the late William Thomas Smallwood and the late Ludelia Hembree Smallwood. Mrs. Swanston was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Temple, Georgia. She enjoyed gardening and was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Swanson was preceded in death by her husband, William Reese Swanson; her daughter, Gloria Jean Swanson; her sons, Thomas Watson Swanson and Gary DeWayne Swanson; and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Lanham of Temple; her son and daughter-in-law, Elwyn and Helen Swanson of Carrollton; sister, Opal Price of Senoia; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Obituary: Mr. Velmon E. Ward, 72, of North Hilton Road, Winston, Georgia passed away Thursday, February 2, 2006 at Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica, Georgia. He was born August 25, 1933 in Douglas County, Georgia. He was the son of the late Thomas Ward and the late Irene Fields Ward. Mr. Ward worked as a timber dealer in the forestry industry. He enjoyed restoring 1936 Chevy cars. He served in the National Guard. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Phyllis Allen Ward of Winston; his daughters and son-in-law, Lynda Camp of Panama City Beach, Florida, Kim Rushing of Decatur and Brandie and Chris Huddleston of Carrollton; step-daughter and her husband, Alison and Michael Turner of Canton; sons and daughter-in-law, Randy and Marian Ward of Temple and Rodney Ward of Temple; step-son and his wife, Darrell and Olga Kreis of Villa Rica; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Johnny Echols of Winston and Carolyn and Robert Cheek of Winston; brothers and sister-in-law, Bernon “Pete” and Brenda Ward of Winston and John and Sue Ward of Temple; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Obituary: Mr. William Monroe Martin, 82, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Saturday, June 10, 2006 at Pine Knoll Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carrollton, Georgia. He was born September 20, 1923 in Carroll County, Georgia. He was the son of the late Mr. Samuel Benjamin Martin and the late Mrs. Martha Ann Boyd Martin. Mr. Martin served in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict for twelve years having achieved the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Martin was an active member of Flat Rock Baptist Church having served as a Deacon, choir member, Training Union teacher and Sunday School teacher for many years. He worked in Vacation Bible School every year. He was a paper handler for Data Graphics. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Cheely Martin; sisters, Mandy Ovie Perren, Annie Lula Martin, and Esther Ethel Martin. He is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Mrs. Lou Ellen Fendley and Bobby Fendley of Villa Rica, one brother and sister-in-law Robert and Louise Martin of Villa Rica; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at 11:00 AM from Flat Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronnie Puckett and Rev. He was born March 18, 1983, in San Diego, California. He was the son of Manny A. Reyes and Pauline Q. King. Mr. Reyes carried a great big smile and love with him that was so beautiful and contagious. He touched the lives of his family and friends in a very charismatic way. Mr. Reyes worked in the retail industry for Cosco. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Rosario M. Reyes. Survivors include his mother and step-father, Pauline Q. and Roger W. King of Lilburn; his father and step-mother, Manny A. and Annie D. Reyes of San Diego, California; his maternal grandmother, Remedios F. Quinene; his paternal grandfather, Manuel C. Reyes; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, step-brothers and step-sisters also survive. She was born February 4, 1929, in Carroll County, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Aaron Lumpkin Yearty and the late Mattie Ethel Brooks Yearty. Mrs. Garner was a member of Utopia Baptist Church in Villa Rica, Georgia. She had retired after over 30 years of service as a seamstress for Sewell Manufacturing. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Garner was preceded in by her son, Randall Wayne Garner; her brother, Marion Yearty; sisters, Phoeby E. Waddell, Frances Bishop and four infant sisters; son-in-law, Don Coleman; and brothers-in-law, Garvin Gentry and Mack Bishop. Survivors include her husband, Jerrill E. He worked as a Telecommunications Engineer for Engineer Associates. In addition to his parents he was prececeded in death by his sister, Barbara Williams.
