She was born September 3, 1941, in Cocolalla, Idaho. She was the daughter of the late Charles Logan and the late Bessie Ellen Hayden Logan. Mrs. Hammond was of the Christian faith. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hammond was preceded in death by her husband, Noah Franklin Hammond, Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Nantz of Carrollton; her son and daughter-in-law, Barry Franklin and Dawn Hammond of York, South Carolina; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Violet and Frank Reed of Yakima, Washington, Dorothy Walker of Yakima, Washington, Edith and Richard Pontow of Dalles, Oregon, Virginia and Ed Pontow of Seattle, Washington, Rosae and Don Jewitt of Yakima, Washington and Lucille and Al Domon of Vancouver, Washington; brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Judy Logan of Oregon City, Oregon; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was born May 30, 1954 in Austell, Georgia the daughter of Mrs. Patsy Meadows Abernathy and the late Mr. Doyle Darnell Abernathy. She attended Mount Paran Church of God. She married James Roger Jones on March 16, 1973. She worked as a hairdresser at Elaine’s Hair Care in Douglasville. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, James “Jim” Roger Jones of Lithia Springs; one daughter, Melissa Carol Jones of Douglasville; one son and daughter-in-law, Andrew Darnell and Kourtney Jones of Villa Rica; her mother, Patsy Meadows Abernathy of Douglasville; one brother and sister in law, Doyle D. Abernathy, Jr. and Tonya Abernathy of Douglasville; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews service. Memorial Services will be conducted Thursday, February 2, 2006 at 11:00 AM from the Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel with Pastor David B. Reid and Darnell Jones officiating. He was born July 19, 1928 in Villa Rica, Georgia the son of the late Benjamin Pruitt and the late Mrs. Ida Mae Tolier Pruitt. He was a spot welder for Leggett & Platt Company. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Earnest Pruitt and sister, Cordie Mae Causey. He is survived by his daughter, Judy Mayfield of Carrollton; 2 sons, Randy Pruitt of Douglasville and Bobby Pruitt of Carrollton; brother, Frank Pruitt of Douglasville; 5 grandchildren, Ryan Mayfield, Sr., Randy Pruitt, Jr., Robin Pruitt, Robert Pruitt, and Christy Mayfield; 3 great-grandchildren, Jennifer Mayfield, Ryan Mayfield, Jr., and Chelsa Pruitt; several nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Joel Thomas “Tommy” Coleman, 59, of Eastside Drive, Marietta, GA passed away Thursday, August 19, 2004 at Wellstar Douglas Hospital. He was born March 2, 1945 in Atlanta, Georgia the son of the late James Thomas Coleman and the late Mrs. Lettie Mae Springer Coleman. He did survey and Television Repair and was of the Baptist Faith. He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl “Cheri” Odom of Marietta and Nicolette “Nicki” Kruythoff of Smyrna; sister, Dawn Hankinson of Bremen; three brothers, Lonnie Coleman of Douglasville, Larry Coleman of Forest Park, and Ronald Coleman of Hiram; 2 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, August 21, 2004 at 2:00 PM from Crest Lawn Memorial Park. Mr. Leon Myron Ayers

Mr. Leon Myron Ayers, 76, of Cooper Street, Douglasville, GA passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice following an extended illness. He was born November 13, 1927 in Bremen, Georgia the son of the late Isaac Ayers and the late Mrs. Florence Wilson Ayers. He married Stella Viola Bragg on October 15, 1956. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a carpenter. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Viola Bragg Ayers on March 25, 2004 and son, Charles Ayers. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Joe Smith of Douglasville, Carol and Dick Davis of Texas and Cathy and Greg Brown of Texas; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Tammy Ayers and Eddie and Diane Ayers all of Douglasville; sister, Opal Ayers of Villa Rica; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews also survive. He was born December 29, 1929 in Jasper, Alabama the son of the late Miles Alton and Rosi Henslee. He was a carpenter and of the Baptist Faith. He is survived by his two daughters and son-in-law, Lillian and Brian Neel of Villa Rica and Penny Camp of Winston; one son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Wanda Henslee of Villa Rica; one sister, Catherine Henslee of Douglasville; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Little Miss Abigail Rose Collins, infant daughter of Brian and Valerie Ward Collins of Douglasville passed away Thursday, July 18, 2002 at Tod Children’s Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio. She was born June 30, 2002 at Salem Community Hospital in Salem, Ohio. In addition to her parents she is survived by two brothers, Brian Collins, Jr., and Christian Ray Collins both of Douglasville; maternal grandparents, Ray and Joanne Ward of Salem, OH, and Martha Ward of New Waterford, OH; paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Mary Ann Collins of Williamsburg, VA.; great grandparents, Sally Hosey of Williamsburg, VA, Janice Ward of Highgate Springs, VT and Agnes Ward of Jay, NY; sever aunts, uncles and cousins. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, July 27, 2002 at 10:00 AM from Sunrise Memorial Gardens with Pastor Mike Adams officiating. Mr. Cecil "Perk" Glen Perkey

Mr. Cecil "Perk" Glen Perkey, 67, of Walker Road, Villa Rica passed away on Friday, July 26, 2002 at the VA Medical Center in Atlanta following an extended illness. He was born on September 24, 1934 in Hamblen County, TN the son of the late William Fred Perkey and the late Mrs. Katy Ruth Long Perkey. He was a member of Gateway Baptist Church in Villa Rica and was a diesel mechanic. He served in the U.S. Army for over 10 years. He was a busdriver for several different gospel music groups and he helped with the maintainance of the gospel buses. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daugther, Fannie Ruth Perkey and his brothers, Charlie William Perkey and Eugene Perkey. He is survived by his wife, Vennia “Val” Novella Archer Perkey of Villa Rica; 3 daughters and sons in law, Frances and Claude Ellis of Powder Springs, Joyce and Jim Lanier of Buford, and Wilma and Jimmy Dangar of Douglasville; son and daughter in law, Tony and Tessia Perkey of Douglasville; 6 grandchildren; and brother in law, Ed Way of Rogersville, TN. Mr. Charles Otis Taff

Mr. Charles Otis Taff, 71, of Phenix City, AL passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2002 at his residence. He was born on September 12, 1930 in Phenix City the son of the late Otis W. and Katie Sellers Taff. He was a member of First United Methodist Church for over fifty years and served on various boards and committees. He was a member of Friendship Sunday School Class and coached the church softball and volleyball teams for many years. As a child and teenager Charles worked at C.M. Taff Grocery with his grandfather and father. After the death of his grandfather the store became Taff Grocery, owned by Otis Taff. In 1969, Taff Thriftown was built and Charles worked there with his father until his father’s death and then the store became Charles'. He operated it until his retirement in 1986. Mr. Taff is survived by his wife of fifty years, Mary Jones Taff of Phenix City, AL; daughters and sons in law, Amy and Ken Duncan of Villa Rica and Jan and Lamar Horne of Phenix City, AL; son and daughter in law, Barry Charles and Virginia Taff of Phenix City; 7 grandchildren, Wesley Charles Taff of Phenix City, Brian Lamar Horne of Phenix City, Katie Taff of Phenix City, Brett Thomas Horne of Phenix City, Haleigh Taff Duncan of Villa Rica, Forrest Wynn Duncan of Villa Rica and Kara Tate Duncan of Villa Rica; nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at 2:00 PM from the First United Methodist Church of Phenix City with Rev. Steve Smith, Rev. Joel Jones, and Dr. Frank Hyles officiating. She was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church in Winston and was a homemaker. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Clinton “W.C.” Raiden; sisters, Sadie Liner, Mary Jane Maxwell, and Gertrude Hogue; and brothers, Clifford Broome, Bobby Broome, John Thomas Broome, Clyde Broome and James Broome. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Samples of Winston; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Penny Shiflett of Macon; sister and brother-in- law, Dorothy and John Curry of Chattanooga; brothers and sister-in-law, Doyle and Marcel Broome of Cedartown, Charles Broome of Cedartown, and James Broome of Summerville; 6 grandchildren, some of Carroll County; 12 great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
