Essie Mae Gove
Mrs. Essie Mae Gove, 82, of Dahlonega, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at Gold City Community Living Center in Dahlonega, following an extended illness.
A Stillwell, Okla., native and former resident of Brandon, Fla., Mrs. Gove had lived in Lumpkin County for the past 15 years.
She was the daughter of the late William C. and Nora Holland Dolby. At the age of 2 years, Essie was orphaned and was raised by her aunt, Florence Holland Van Matre Gibbs in Cape Giradeau, Mo. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Ann Montgomery, and a son, Donald Ray Armstrong.
Mrs. Gove was a member of Dahlonega Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Mr. Philip Gove, Dahlonega; daughter, Christine Armstrong Walters, Rock Falls, Ill.; son, Larry Armstrong, Anamosa, Iowa; stepdaughter, Bonnie Lee Mae, Lakeland, Fla.; stepson, John W. Gove, Lakeland, Fla.; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
At her request, Mrs. Gove was cremated and a memorial services was held March 20 at Dahlonega Baptist Church with the Rev. William D. Hutcheson and the Rev. Robert D. Green officiating.
The family requests that flowers be omitted and contributions be made to Dahlonega Baptist Church Building Fund, 199 Choice Avenue, Dahlonega, Ga. 30533.

Anna K. Folger
Mrs. Anna K. Folger, 90, of Gainesville, died Tuesday, March 26, 2001, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness.
A native of Tollesboro, Ky., Mrs. Folger had lived in Gainesville since 1976. Previously she had lived in Dahlonega for 24 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Dahlonega United Methodist Church. Other memberships include the Chattachoochee Ladies Golf Association and the former Dahlonega Garden Club.
Mrs. Folger was preceded in death by a son, Walter Folger.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas T. Folger Sr., Gainesville; sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas T. Jr. and Millie Folger, Gainesville, Philip D. and Doris Folger, Dahlonega; daughter-in-law, Martha Lee Folger, Gainesville; 10 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services were held March 29 at Little-Davenport Chapel with the Rev. Gerry Davis officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorial Service/Eddie Mae Todd Burke
The Todd brothers, Bud and George, and sisters, Nell, Elsie and Thelma, will hold a memorial service for their sister, Eddie Mae Todd Burke Saturday, April 14, at 2 p.m. at the gravesite in Suches at Zion Baptist Church.
Mrs. Burke died in 1952 and was buried in Rome, Ga. The family recently had her remains moved and reinterred in Suches.
Inez Crane Shope
Mrs. Inez Crane Shope, 65, of Dawsonville, died Thursday, June 7, 2001, at Chestatee Regional Hospital in Dahlonega following a short illness.
A lifelong resident of Lumpkin County, she retired from Wachovia Bank after 10 years of service. Mrs. Shope was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Herman L. Shope; parents, Dillard and Esta Mae Crane; and a grandson, Jason Robert Jones.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie Peck, Dawsonville, Rita and Leon Foster, Dahlonega, Donna and Marty Cain, Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law, Jewell and Net Crane, Dawsonville; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and other relatives.
Services were held June 9 at Mill Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Stradley, the Rev. Charles Grant and the Rev. Marcus Boling officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Martha Opaline Lingerfelt
Mrs. Martha Opaline Lingerfelt, 70, of Tallahassee, Fla., died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville following a sudden illness.
Mrs. Lingerfelt was a native of Maiden, N.C., who had lived in Tallahassee, Fla. for the past 30 years. She was a retired daycare worker and was a member of Christian Heritage Church in Tallahassee.
She was the daughter of the late John P. Thornburg and Mandy Ella Williams. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Thornburg and Billy Thornburg.
Survivors include her husband, Roland Lingerfelt, Tallahassee, Fla.; sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Jill Lingerfelt, Snellville, Ron and Maggie Lingerfelt, Suches, Randy and Lauri Lingerfelt, Woodstock; brother, Johnny Thornburg, Maiden, N.C.; sisters, Jean Thompson, Joyce Anders, both of Maiden, N.C.; grandchildren, Jason and Anna Richards, Aslamorada, Fla., Matthew Lingerfelt, Snellville, the Rev. Jamie and Angela Lingerfelt, Dahlonega, Magdalene and Robert McDonald, Gainesville, Christina Graves, Lydia Lingerfelt, both of Woodstock; great-grandchildren, Brittany Richards, Cody Richards, Faith Lingerfelt, Josiah McDonald; and several other relatives.
Services were held June 7 at The Rock Christian Fellowship in Dahlonega with the Rev. Jamie Lingerfelt officiating. Burial followed in Zion Baptist Church cemetery in Suches.

Eva Sara Coble
Mrs. Eva Sara Coble, 82, of Murrayville, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at Gold City Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Coble was born in DeKalb County, the daughter of the late George Franklin and Pheonie Jackson Greer. She had lived for the past 16 years in Murrayville. She was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Lee Coble, and son, Raymond Lee Coble.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Tim Hicks, Jo and J.B. Ash, Jackie and Billy Fountain, all of Murrayville; brothers, Sam Greer, Conyers, James Greer, Stone Mountain, Franklin Greer, Powder Springs; sisters, Edna Bowman, Marietta, Mary Cole, Griffin; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held June 8 at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Dahlonega with the Rev. Walter Green, the Rev. Tim Hicks, the Rev. Phillip Robinson, the Rev. Stephen Gerrells and the Rev. Robert Martin officiating. Burial followed at Centerville cemetery in Snellville.

Linda Ann Freeland
Mrs. Linda Ann Freeland, 51, of Buford, and formerly of Lumpkin County, died Friday, June 8, 2001, at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Freeland was a native of Lumpkin County who had lived in Buford for the past four years. She had lived in Lilburn-Stone Mountain area for 29 years prior to moving to Buford. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her father, Johnny Gilleland; sister, Shelia Gilleland; and father-in-law, Charlie Freeland.
Survivors include her husband, Jarrett N. Freeland Sr., Buford; sons and daughters-in-law, Buddy and Tina Freeland, Duluth, John and Heidi Freeland, Lawrenceville; brother, Leon Gilleland, Lilburn; mother, Janie Crump, Dahlonega; grandson, Jarrett Freeland III, Duluth; mother-in-law, Cora Freeland, Dahlonega; and several other relatives.
Graveside services were held June 12 at Siloam Baptist Church cemetery in Lumpkin County with the Rev. Lyman Caldwell officiating.

Johnnie Franklin Adams Sr.
Mr. Johnnie Franklin Adams Sr., 85, of Cleveland, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at Lanier Park Hospital in Gainesville, following an extended illness.
Mr. Adams was a native of Hall County and former Lumpkin County resident who had lived in White County since 1970. He lived in Tampa, Fla., for 23 years prior to moving to White County. He was a retired longshoreman, served as a master sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of Emmanuel Gospel Fellowship in White County.
He was the son of the late Tom and Necie Lance Adams and was also preceded in death by a son, Johnnie F. Adams Jr.; a grandson, Jesse W. 'Will' Adams; three brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Adams, Cleveland; son, Jesse Adams, Cleveland; daughter, Billie Jean McRae, Tampa, Fla.; brothers, Homer Adams, Dahlonega, William H. Adams, Marietta; sister, Rosebud Harkins, Dahlonega; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a large number of other relatives.
Services were held June 12 at Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega with the Rev. George Wooten officiating. Burial followed in Hightower Baptist Church cemetery in Lumpkin County.

Dewitt Talmadge White
Mr. Dewitt Talmadge White, 71, of Dahlonega, died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at Chestatee Regional Hospital in Dahlonega, following a sudden illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County, Mr. White was the son of the late William Henry White and Martha Ann Eaton White.
Mr. White was a self-employed farmer, was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict, and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Kenny Thomas, Dahlonega; sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Sue White, Dean and Annette White, Lamar and Adrian White, all of Dahlonega; sister, Mrs. Nancy Ann Hurd, Dahlonega; grandchildren, Kelly White, Rodney White, Raelynda Adams, Lacey White, Deana White, Stephanie White, and Benjamin White; and several other relatives.
Services were held June 12 at Community Chapel Church in Lumpkin County with the Rev. Charles Allison officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Phillip Boston
Mr. Phillip Boston, 51, of Dahlonega, died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at his residence following a sudden illness.
Mr. Boston was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County, a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Lumpkin County, and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was the son of the late Elda Boston and Bessie Garrett Towe.
Survivors include his sons, Frank Boston, Steven Boston, both of Dahlonega; sister, Mary Boston, Dahlonega; brothers, Frank Gibson, Flower Mound, Texas, Herbert Boston, Murrayville; and several other relatives.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. June 13 at Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega. Burial will follow in Mt. Gilead Baptist Church cemetery in Lumpkin County.
