Funeral services for Donald Everett Free, 67, of Lula were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel. The Rev. Billy Autry and the Rev. Scott Ledbetter officiated with burial in White Hall Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Free died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Born in Hall County on Aug. 28, 1934, he was employed as a truck driver with CWT Farms with 44 years of service. Mr. Free was a member of White Hall Baptist Church and attended Cornelia Congregational Holiness Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Free; and sister, Lillie Mae Campbell.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Stanley Free of Lula; mother, Louise Baugh Free Lynch of Gainesville; son, Jerry Free of Alto; granddaughters, Robin Free, Sandy Free, Amy Dailey, all of Alto.

Dianne Roberts Callenback
Funeral services for Dianne Roberts Callenback, 47, of Clarkesville were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Cornelius E. Church Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Clarence Reynolds officiated with burial in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, in the Batesville community.
Mrs. Callenback died Wednesday, July 31, 2002.
Born in Habersham County, she was a 1973 graduate of Habersham Central High School. She was a loving mother and homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter, Angilesia Callenback of Clarkesville; son, Jeramia Callenback of Clarkesville; mother, Jean Roberts Chesebro of Demorest; sister, Patsy Roberts Savage of Batesville; brother, Lamar Roberts of Clarkesville; fianc', James R. Croy of Clarkesville; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

G. Richard Waldrep
Funeral services for G. Richard Waldrep, 88, of Gainesville were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, at New Holland Baptist Church. The Rev. Clack Stubbs, the Rev. Sam Parsons and the Rev. Mike Taylor officiated with burial in Alta Vista Cemetery.
Mr. Waldrep died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Waldrep was a lifetime resident of Hall County. He was a member of Gideon International, former member of Gainesville Lions Club and National Auctioneers Association. Mr. Waldrep was music director for New Holland Baptist Church for 40 years, where he also served as a deacon and member. He served as interim music director within the Chattahoochee Baptist Association and numerous other churches.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Avie Waldrep.
Survivors include his son, Gary Waldrep of Grand Prairie, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Alae Risse and Bob Thomas of Cornelia, Virginia and George Roberts of Clermont; grandson, Joey Roberts of Gainesville; sisters-in-law, Wynell Reynolds of Watkinsville, Mozelle Ramsey of Birmingham, Ala., Cozetta Reynolds, Evelyn Bassett, Eunice Waldrep, all of Gainesville; brother-in-law, George Dunagan of Clermont; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Joseph Biro
Funeral arrangements for Joseph Biro, 81, of Clarkesville are incomplete at this time.
Mr. Biro died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at his residence following a period of declining health.

Walter R. Moore
Funeral services for Walter R. Moore, 60, of Baldwin will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel. The Rev. Sanford Kimbrell will officiate.
Mr. Moore died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
Born in Habersham County on May 25, 1942, he was the son of the late Cecil B. and Susie Shirley Moore. He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank W. Moore; and a sister, Clara Ruth Gamez.
Mr. Moore was retired from Wilbanks Lumber Company with 32 years of service. He attended Higher Ground Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Dophine Moore of Baldwin; sister, Emma Maxwell of Mt. Airy; brothers, Billy Joe Moore of Mt. Airy, Phil Moore of Baldwin; and four grandchildren.

John ‘Jack’ E. Clark
A memorial service for John “Jack” E. Clark, 76, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Grace-Calvary Episcopal Church, Clarkesville. The family will greet guests in St. Julian Hall immediately following the service.
Mr. Clark died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at Stephens County Hospital from complications of lung cancer.
Born on March 7, 1926, Mr. Clark lived in Atlanta’s Buckhead area most of his life. He graduated from Georgia Military School in Milledgeville. At the age of 17, he joined the Navy and was a 20mm anti-aircraft gunner on a Merchant Marine ship. This teenage “Son of the South” found himself on two Murmansk, Russia, convoys heading over the Arctic Circle. He stood duty on the bow of his ship in a wind chill of 55 degrees below zero. German U-boats scattered his convoy and some ships were lost but his ship, the S.S. Owen Wister, came through safely.
After returning from World War II, he graduated from the University of Georgia in 1950 with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. He was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity.
When he completed college, he maintained his love of the sea by serving 29 years in the Naval Reserve, retiring as a captain. During his business career in Atlanta, he served as president of the Navy League of the United States, Atlanta chapter, and organized the first Sea Cadet program; was president of the Downtown Chamber of Commerce, member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club and many other community and military organizations.
During his membership at St. Philip Episcopal Cathedral he was Scoutmaster and Explorer adviser for 14 years. His devotion to the Scout program continued for many years as he served on the executive committee of the Atlanta board of Boy Scouts. He lived the life of a good Scout in his love of God and country, as well as family and friends.
For many years, he was an active member of St. Bede’s Episcopal Church and served on the Vestry and other committees. After retirement to Clarkesville, he attended Grace-Calvary Episcopal Church, where he made many friends.
His entire business career was in the building industry in both sales and business development. He was the founder and developer of the retirement community, Lenbrook Square, which is one of the premier projects in the United States. His dream was to have an excellent retirement community that would be desirable for his parents.
Continuing his enthusiastic love of people and life, upon retirement Mr. Clark became involved with the Senior Citizens Center where he taught the use of computers to anyone who was interested. He expanded his concerns for the senior citizens of the community by representing Habersham County on the Legacy Link board of directors. His other interest was centered around the Habersham Community Theatre where he served on the board of directors and helped in publicity and advertising.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Catherine Phillips Clark; daughter and son-in-law, Kaye and Paul TeRonde; son and daughter-in-law, Phillip A. and Tessa Clark; grandchildren, Dawne Nicholson Gilboy, Patrick Nicholson, Scott TeRonde, Jennie TeRonde Wiggins, Britta Marie Clark; great-grandchildren, Catherine Marie Gilboy, Andrew Wiggins, Allyssa Wiggins; special nieces, Dale Clark Farran, Lucinda Carlstom; brother, Paul Franklin Clark, and his four daughters.

Kathleen Coker Lailer
Funeral services for Kathleen Coker Lailer, 78, of Cumming, formerly of Habersham County, were held Monday, Oct. 7, at L.W. McDonald & Son Funeral Home chapel, Cumming. Burial was in North Atlanta Memorial Park.
Mrs. Lailer died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002.
Mrs. Lailer was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Frances Alton Lailer. She was a member of University Baptist Church, Brookhaven. She loved gardening, flowers, working in the yard and living on Lake Lanier.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Wayne Barrett of Powder Springs; grandchildren, Dr. Keith Alan Barrett of Vidalia, Dr. Bryan Wayne Barrett of Baton Rouge, La.; great-grandchildren, Robert Glen Barrett, David Lee Barrett, Jacob Alan Barrett.

Earnest Strickland
Funeral services for Earnest Strickland, 72, of Cornelia will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Mt. Airy. The Rev. Oliver Dorsey and the Rev. Joe Banks will officiate, with burial in Level Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Strickland died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Atlanta.
Born the son of Jesse and Essie Williams Strickland, he was the husband of the late Willie Ruth Strickland.
Survivors include his daughter, Earnestine Trimiar of Cornelia; sisters, Winnie Smith Banks of Cornelia, Dolly Wood of Seneca, S.C.; brothers, Marion Lee Smith of Decatur, James Johnson of Greenville, S.C., Willie Strickland of Willingburg, N.J.; and a very special brother, Carl Brown of Fort Wayne, Ind.

Zachary Lynn Ansley
Funeral services for Zachary Lynn Ansley, 16, of Clarkesville were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at Hillside Memorial Chapel, Clarkesville. The Rev. Dee Dillon officiated with burial in Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery, Hollywood.
Mr. Ansley died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at Habersham County Medical Center from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born in Hall County on May 28, 1986, he lived all of his life in Habersham County. Mr. Ansley was a junior at Habersham Central High School, where he was a member of the Band of Blue, Future Farmers of America, the Habersham County Show Team and was the representative for the FFA National Convention.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Autum Ansley; and grandfathers, Earl Sims and Harold Adams.
Survivors include his parents, Chris and Pennie Sims Ansley of Clarkesville; sister and brother-in-law, Menissa and Dexter Worley Jr. of Clarkesville; niece and nephew, Chelsey Lynne Worley, Austin Lee Worley; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Jo Adams of Clarkesville; and paternal grandparents, Lin and Coralee Ansley of Cornelia.

Mr. Addis died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at Habersham County Medical Center from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born in Hall County on Sept. 30, 1985, he lived all of his life in Habersham County. Mr. Addis was a junior at Habersham Central High School, where he was active with the Band of Blue, the Future Farmers of America, and Technology Students Association. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Sautee. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Buford Benfield; and grandmother, Marie Walls Addis.
Survivors include his parents, Ronnie and Lisa Benfield Addis of Clarkesville; sister, Hollie Addis of Clarkesville; maternal grandmother, MaryBelle Cantrell Benfield of Clarkesville; paternal grandparents, J.B. and Virginia Addis of Clarkesville.
