Funeral services for Ruth Shuler, 81, of Alto, were held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 28, at B.C. Grant Baptist Church. The Rev. Billy Harris, the Rev. John Cooley and the Rev. Charles Hopkins officiated, with burial in Memorial Park cemetery in Gainesville.
Mrs. Shuler died July 26, 2003, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
Born in Gwinnett County on Nov. 10, 1921, she was the daughter of the late James Neal and Bunie Daniel Baugh. She was a waitress at Shoney's for 13 years and a member of B.C. Grant Baptist Church. Mrs. Shuler loved to fish and was a Braves baseball fan.
Survivors include her husband, Candler Shuler of Alto; daughter, Becky Baugh of Alto; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald Lee and Patsy Baugh of Gainesville; grandson, Jerry Baugh; granddaughter and husband, Rhonda and Ken Conner; one great-grandson; sister, Cora Sargent of Lula; sisters-in-law, Theresia Baugh of Clarkesville, Maudie Mae Cape of New Holland; brother-in-law, D.W. Sargent of Lula; special friend, Georgetta Brooks of Keysville; and special niece, Hilde Rice of Toccoa.
Mrs. Shuler was preceded in death by brothers Clyde, J.D., Mark and Ervin Baugh; sister, Ida Mae Humphries; and grandson, Ronald Ervin Baugh.

Stephanie Whitaker
Funeral services for Stephanie Whitaker, 32, of Cornelia, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 28, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home. The Rev. Winston Fournier officiated and burial followed in Level Grove Cemetery.
Ms. Whitaker died Friday, July 25, 2003, at her residence following a brief illness. Born in Habersham County on Dec. 31, 1970, she was the daughter of the late George Whitaker. She was a security guard at Ethicon with Allied Security, a member of Faith Baptist Church in Blairsville and loved to write poetry.
Survivors include her mother, Barbara B. Whitaker of Cornelia; brothers, Scott Whitaker of Clarkesville, David Whitaker of Demorest, and Daniel Whitaker of Nokomis, Fla.; sisters, Joyce Colley of Crescent City, Fla., Patricia Vallies of Blairsville, Faye Graff, Carolyn Balmer and Cindy Whitaker of Savannah, also a special friend, Ann Smith of Cornelia.

Ruth Free Reabold
Funeral services for Ruth Free Reabold, 78, of Clermont and formerly of Cornelia, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home. The Rev. Furman Lewis and the Rev. Robert L. Ramsey officiated. Burial followed in the VFW Memorial Cemetery.
Ms. Reabold died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Habersham County Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Born in Hall County, she was preceded in death by her husband, retired U.S. Marine Johnny Reabold. She was a homemaker and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Clermont and Cornelia United Methodist Church.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Martha Lewis Reabold of Clarkesville; two grandsons, Geoffrey and Greg Reabold; a brother, two sisters, and several nieces and nephews.

Lathan Bennett
Funeral services for Lathan Bennett, 78, of Alto, were held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 25, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home. The Rev. Leon Brown and the Rev. Clyde Garrison officiated, with burial in Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the DAV Rabun County Chapter No. 15 and the American Legion Post No. 84.
Mr. Bennett died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville following an extended illness.
Born in Franklin County April 12, 1925, he was the son of the late Henry and Ada Beaty Bennett. Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
He was a self-employed painter and a bus driver for the Habersham County School System. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II, a member of the Rabun County DAV Chapter No. 15 and the American Legion Post No. 84. He was a member of Alto Baptist Church and an avid gardener.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Chapman Bennett of Alto; daughters, Terri Jones and Kathy Bennett, both of Trion; brothers, Horace Bennett and C.D. Bennett, both of Alto, Paul Bennett of Cornelia; sister, Elnora Gailey of Alto; mother-in-law, June Wiggins Hicks of Demorest; and three grandchildren.

Tommie T. Thompson
ASHBURN - Funeral services for Tommie Teal Thompson, 83, of Ashburn, formerly of Waterloo, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, at the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Terrell Roberts and the Rev. Scott Tidwell officiating. Burial will be in Waterloo Cemetery.
Ms. Thompson died Monday, July 28, 2003, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Born May 28, 1920, in Heard County, she was the daughter of the late Jerome R. and Fannie Mae 'Mamie' Hester Teal. She was preceded in death by a son, Keith Thompson; a brother, Nathan Teal; and a sister, Hazel Teal.
She was a retired school teacher, a member of Waterloo Baptist Church and a strong supporter of Waterloo Home Demonstration Club. She was a longtime resident of Waterloo.
Survivors include her husband, Amos Nelson Thompson of Ashburn; son and daughter-in-law, Farris and Judy Thompson of Waterloo; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryle and Kenneth Bryan of Sycamore, and Karen and Ronnie Shiflett of Cornelia; a brother, J.R. Teal Jr. of Heard County; a sister, Agatha Janney of Heard County; a daughter-in-law, Gail Thompson of Ashburn; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Evelyn B. Thomas
Funeral services for Evelyn B. Thomas, 69, of Smyrna, were held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at Hillside Memorial Chapel in Clarkesville with the Rev. Johnny Daniels officiating. Burial was in Amy’s Creek Baptist cemetery in Clarkesville.
Mrs. Thomas died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, in Smyrna.
She was a Cobb County resident for more than 30 years. She was a member of the church choir and was active with the senior adults, a member of Central Baptist Church, Smyrna, and a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, James Thomas of Smyrna; son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Alisa Thomas of Marietta; sisters, Pam York and Argen Thomas, both of Clarkesville; and grandchildren, Natalie and Drew Thomas.

Hazel Hogan
Funeral services for Hazel Hogan, 78, of Tucker, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, with the Rev. John Humphries and Dr. Doug Maloney officiating. Burial was in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Hogan died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003.
She was a native of Clarkesville and was a member of Northwood Baptist Church. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 21 years where she received the esteemed Albert Gallatin Award.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton William Hogan, and her daughter, Diane Hogan.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, John and Toni Hogan of Tucker; grandchildren, Matt Hogan of Bethlehem and Heather Hogan of Dunwoody; one great-grandson, Matthew Riley Hogan of Bethlehem; and sister, Reba Duren of St. Petersburg, Fla.

Eulalia Diego Francisco
Funeral services for Eulalia Diego Francisco, 24, of Cornelia, will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Dec. 5, at St. Mark Catholic Church with Father Luis Zarama officiating. Burial will be in Guatemala.
Ms. Francisco died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at Emory University Hospital.
She was born Aug. 15, 1979, in Aldea Cheche, Guatemala. She was the daughter of Jose Diego and Melchora Francisco. She was a homemaker.
Survivors in addition to her parents include her husband, Juan Andres Matias; daughter, Micaela Diego of Guatemala; sons, Jose Diego and Francisco Diego Matias, both of Guatemala, and Rudi and Samuel Matias, both of Cornelia; sisters, Catarina Diego Francisco of Monteray, Tenn., and Juana Diego Francisco and Matilda Diego Francisco, both of Guatemala; and brothers, Domingo Diego Francisco and Miauel Diego Francisco of Cornelia.

Mr. Hope died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.
Born in Banks County on June 6, 1914, he was the son of the late George and Maggie Jones Hope. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a parts manager at Haynes & Gailey and loved working on old cars and small engines. He was an active member of Hickory Flat United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Sue Garrison Hope; brother, Clarence E. Hope; and sister, Fay Garrison.
Survivors include his sister-in-law, Mattie Garrison of Lula; nieces and nephews, Peggy Hope Etheridge of Lavonia, Jimmy Hope of Homer, Linda Hickman of Lula, Elaine Dawson of Williamsburg, Va., Maria Poole of Commerce and Katheryn Sweiger and Jane Evans, both of Gainesville.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today, Dec. 5.

Born in Sylva, N.C., on April 19, 1960, he was the son of the late Doyle Holland. He was employed by Pizza Hut in Cornelia with seven years of service. He was an avid fan of golf, football and baseball - especially the Atlanta Braves. He attended Mountain Resources and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Britta Lee Holland and Inez Cope Clontz.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Marlene (Cope) and Marvin Cantrell of Mt. Airy; brothers, Steve Holland of Baldwin, Keith Holland of Mt. Airy, Andy Holland of Cleveland; grandfather, Claude Holland of Cullowhee, N.C.; numerous aunts and uncles; and numerous nieces and nephews.
