Graveside services for Anita Herring York, 79, of Hayesville, N.C., will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at Yonah Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Hollis Benfield officiating.
Mrs. York died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, in Demorest.
She was born in Elbert County on July 28, 1925. She was a retired secretary with the Probation Department with the State of North Carolina with 25 years of service. She was a member of the Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Luther and Roxie Carrington Herring; her husband, Charles Raymond York; and sister, Doris Fowler.
Survivors include her sisters, Odessa Brock of Duluth, Eloise York of Cornelia and Linda H. Benfield of Mt. Airy.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8.

Rev. William S. Morris
Funeral services for the Rev. William S. Morris, 73, of Alto, were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Sam Ragan, the Rev. Donald Tritt and the Rev. Ralph O. Smith officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Morris died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at Habersham County Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was a retired minister and was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Morris Fowler.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Rose Morris of the home; his father, Travis Morris of Lula; sons, Stan and Glenn Morris of Alto and Melvin Morris of Lula; brother, Branson Morris of Gillsville; sister, Cathy Staton of Lula; two grandchildren raised in the home, Steve and Michelle Fowler; 12 other grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Jacklynn Camron Ledford
Funeral services for infant Jacklynn Camron Ledford, 3-1/2 months old of Batesville, were held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, in the chapel of Barrett Funeral Home with the Rev. Sanford Kimbrell officiating. Burial was in Yonah View Memorial Gardens.
Baby Ledford died Monday, Oct. 5, 2004, at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born June 21, 2004, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Survivors include her parents, Jerry and Beth Ledford of Batesville; brothers, Eric and Sabastion Ledford of Batesville; sister, Ashleigh Ledford of Batesville; maternal grandparents, Judy Moretz and Joe Bergeron of Helen; paternal grandparents, Hazel and Travis Smith of Habersham County; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

William Harold Sims
Funeral services for William Harold Sims, 63, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Alto will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel with Pastor O.L. McCullough, the Rev. Eddie A. Watson Sr. and the Rev. Eric Hulsey officiating. Burial will follow at Yonah Memorial Gardens with Pastor Jacob Armour officiating at the graveside.
Mr. Sims died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, in Jacksonville, Fla., following an extended illness.
Born in White County on Jan. 27, 1941, he was a son of Mrs. Zell Rogers Sims of Cornelia, and the late William Frank Sims. He was a graduate of North Habersham High School and was a retired employee of Canteen Vending Company with several years of service. He was a member of AARP and Shepherds Fold Church of God in Jacksonville.
Surivivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Lanelda Wade Sims of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Zell Doarietha Miller of Jacksonville, Fla.; son, William Dale Sims of Alto; sisters, Betty Gunn of Baldwin and Bernice Campbell of Cornelia; grandchildren, Melody Miller, Elizabeth Miller and Michael Miller, all of Jacksonville, Fla.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27.

Steve Oliver
Funeral services for Steve Oliver, 46, of Mt. Airy, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at Hazel Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Burrell and the Rev. Trent Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Oliver died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, at Habersham County Medical Center from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Born in Hall County on Aug. 7, 1958, he was the superintendent of Skitt Mountain Golf Course. He enjoyed playing golf, riding motorcycles and fishing. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Lathan Oliver of Mt. Airy; stepdaughter and husband, Rhonda and Marshell Parson of Banks County; parents, Wiley and Lois Gilstrap Oliver of Clermont; brother, Kevin Oliver of Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Tanya Oliver of Helen; stepgrandchildren, Taylor and Trisha Parson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eugene and Louise Lathan Allen of Mt. Airy; and several nieces and nephews.

William T. 'Bill' Alexander

Mr. Alexander died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at his residence following an extended illness.
Born in Floyd County on Sept. 30, 1919, he was retired from the city of Rome and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Floyd County. He was also a member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Emily B. Alexander of Mt. Airy; daughters, Charlotte Kell of Mt. Airy and Nellie Duke of Carrollton; son, Tommy Alexander of Powder Springs; brothers, Henry Alexander of Rome and Charles Alexander of South Carolina; sister, Pearlie Freeman of Florida; 13 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
The body will be placed in the church at 3:30 p.m. today, Aug. 27.

Mrs. Cole died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at a private healthcare facility following an extended illness.
Born in Oak Grove, La., on April 2, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Mount. She was a homemaker and a member of Fairfield Baptist Church.
Survivors include John R. Cole of Demorest; daughter, Libby Anna Cole of Little Rock, Ark.; mother, Ershell Rose Schwarz of Little Rock, Ark.; brothers, the Rev. Samuel C. Rose of Cumming and Cary P. Mrs. Whiting died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, at Embracing Hospice in Snellville following an extended illness.
Born at Lake Burton on July 5, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Bailey and Rachel Barron Elrod. She was retired from the Clayton County Parks and Recreation Department where she was an administrative secretary and was a former member of Jonesboro United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Holli Davenport of Douglasville; brother, Charles Elrod of Lexington, S.C.; sister, Sandra Biggio of Powder Springs; and one granddaughter.

Beverly Boles Gaddis

She was born Aug. 5, 1927, in Augusta. She was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Jessie Mozelle Bonnett Boles and also was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert T. Widgeon; and brothers, Charles H. Boles Jr. and Colden Boles.
Mrs. Gaddis was a high school graduate and attended Maryland University. She was retired from Humana Hospital in Augusta and she was a Baptist.
Survivors include her former husband, Jerry Gaddis of Lula; daughters, Susan Y. Widgeon of Commerce, Lisa W. Miller of Maysville; son, Bruce W. Widgeon of Edgefield, S.C.; brother, Gene Boles of Augusta; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Gragg died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville following an extended illness.
Born on Sept. 11, 1938, she was a lifelong resident of Habersham County. She was the daughter of the late William Jock and Lois Welborn Worley Whitworth. She was employed by North Georgia Technical College and was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Garrison Worley.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia G. and Preston Zimmerman of Demorest; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Susan Gragg of Demorest; son, Joel Gragg of Mt. Airy; brothers, Arthur, Morris and Swain Worley, all of Clarkesville, and C.T. Worley of Sharpesville, Ind.; sisters, Elizabeth Whitworth, Gertrude Kinney, Elmina Gosnell and Maxine Nicholson, all of Clarkesville; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
