Memorial services for Hugh D. Johnson, 74, of Cornelia, will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, at Faith Lutheran Church in Cleveland with Pastor Mike McCormack officiating.
Mr. Johnson died Thursday, April 8, 2004, at his residence.
He was born on Jan. 2, 1930, in Princeton, Ill. He was the son of the late Hugh A. and Helen Doran Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a United States Navy veteran. He was a salesman with the United States Chamber of Commerce and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Cleveland.
Survivors include his very special friend and former wife, Jacqueline Johnson of Cleveland; son, Michael Johnson of Belton, S.C.; daughters, Marcia Farrell of Summerville, S.C., Marilyn Welch of Franklin, N.C.; Maureen Acevedo of Bogart; Michelle Black of Cleveland; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Earline Boles Barker
Funeral services for Earline Boles Barker, 71, of Clarkesville, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Demorest with Dr. Rudy Patton officiating. Burial will be at Bethlehem Baptist Church cemetery in Clarkesville.
Mrs. Barker died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at her residence following an extended illness.
Born on Oct. 25, 1932, in Pelham, she was the daughter of the late Eason and Emma Barrett Boles. She was a graduate of Hapeville High School, the Georgia Baptist School of Nursing and of Marshall University in West Virginia. Mrs. Barker was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Demorest, and previously she was employed by the North American Mission Board. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Monroe Boles.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, the Rev. Russell T. Barker of Clarkesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Sheri and Dusky Green of Canton, Lisa and Art Ridgway of Rutledge, Tenn., Cathy and Ron Swenson of Cumming; a sister, Virginia Pollock of Albany; grandchildren, Michael Hendricks, Holli Roe, Katie Hendricks and Kimberly Swenson; and one-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, April 8, and from 7-9 p.m. Friday, April 9.

Memorial services for Tetyana Y. Aguirre, 44, of Demorest will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, at the Piedmont College Center for Worship and Music with the Rev. Ashley Cook officiating.
Mrs. Aguirre died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Born on May 15, 1959, in Russia, she was a student at the Medical College of Georgia.
Survivors include her husband, Juan Aguirre of Demorest; her mother, Lydia Yakymenko of Ukraine; and her daughter, Oleksandra Yakymenko of Ukraine.

Funeral services for Betty Jo Dodd Elrod, 72, of Cleveland will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 12, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Luther Williams officiating.
Mrs. Elrod died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at a private healthcare facility following a brief illness.
Born in Hall County on Dec. 20, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Clothe Lynch Dodd. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Elrod; brother, Monroe Dodd; and sisters, Lois Crocker and Nellie Thomas.
Survivors include her sons, Jerry Hulsey, Randy Hulsey, Terry Hulsey and Jody Hulsey, all of Atlanta; and sisters, Gladys Crocker and Sue Standridge, both of Cornelia, Evelyn Murray of Dacula and Bernice Owensby of Commerce.

Howard Burton Cheek
Funeral services for Howard Burton Cheek, 79, of Clarkesville, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at Hillside Memorial Chapel in Clarkesville with the Rev. George Deadwyler, Jim Marlowe and Dr. Bill Cashion officiating. Burial followed in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Full military honors were provided by The Habersham County American Legion Post 84 and The Rabun County Disabled American Veterans Chapter 15.

Carol B. Cooper
WATKINSVILLE -- Funeral services for Carol B. Cooper, 75, of Watkinsville will be held at 2 p.m. today in Arthur Bowick's Oconee Chapel in Watkinsville. Burial will follow in Oconee Memorial Park. Drs. Stewart Simms and Ray Austin will officiate the services, directed by Arthur Bowick's Oconee Chapel Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Cooper died Thursday, July 5, 2001.
A native of Cordele, she was the daughter of the late Jackson Brown and Sara Smith Brown. She was a former resident of Commerce where she served as pianist and organist for more than 20 years for the Commerce First Baptist Church and the Commerce Presbyterian Church. She co-founded the Joy Hallmark Shoppe in Commerce. After moving to Watkinsville in 1984, she became associated with the Oconee Public Library and was an active member of the Beech Haven Baptist Church in Athens where she was a member of the ladies Joy Class.
Survivors include her husband, O. Grady Cooper; three daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Jimmy Calamia and Rebecca and Vince Pearson all of Watkinsville, and Kathy and John Wolfe of Athens; three sisters, Edythe B. Noble of Warner Robins, Betty B. Edge of Cordele, and Mary B. Owens of Pelham; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

CORDELE -- Funeral services for Betty C. Ward, 75, of Cordele were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2001, in the Cordele First United Methodist Church. Bob Ward, her son, gave a eulogy. Burial followed in Sunnyside Cemetery. The Rev. Tommy Mason officiated the services, directed by Hughes & Wright Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ward died Friday, July 6, 2001, in Phoebe Putney Hospital.
Norma Turton accompanied Shearer Turton as he sang "Amazing Grace" and "In The Garden." The congregation sang "What A Friend We Have In Jesus."
Pallbearers were Lamar Perlis, Bill Griffin, Robert Bright, Dr. Perry Busbee, Sam Powers Sr., Sam Powers Jr. and Steve Ingram.
A native of Carroll County, she was a homemaker and a member of the Cordele First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Marianne W. Temple of Albany; a son, Robert L. "Bob" Ward Jr. of Atlanta; a sister, Mara Ann Loftin of Marietta; a brother, Charles Craven of Carrollton; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert L. Ward.

WARWICK -- Funeral services for Louis Richard Brewer Jr., 49, of Warwick will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2001, in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Brewer died Friday, July 6, 2001, in Crisp Regional Hospital.
A native of Huntsville, Ala., he was a facilitator with International Paper.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Brewer of Warwick; two daughters, Summer Brewer and Kaylee Brewer both of Warwick; his mother, Cornelia Brewer of Warwick; a brother, Terry Tribble of Augusta; and a sister, Maurine Smith of Rome.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Faustelle Story Worley
ARABI -- Funeral services for Faustelle Story Worley, 81, of Arabi were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Dekle Funeral Home. Burial followed in Bay Spring cemetery in Arabi. The Rev. Sonny Dorminey officiated the services.
Mrs. Worley died Friday, July 6, 2001.
Barbara Brysch played soft music for the services.
Pallbearers were Daryl Lewis, Wray Reid, Danny Story, Jay Story, Jerry Story and Keith Story.
A native of Arabi, she was the daughter of the late Johnny Jackson Story and Alice Louise Spires Story, and the widow of the late Robert W. Worley. She was a lifelong member of Bay Spring Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Alice W. Nutt and Charles L. Nutt of Arabi; two grandsons, David William Worley and Robert Stephen Worley both of Arabi; a granddaughter, Denise Worley Melcher of Arabi; a great-granddaughter, Lauren Nicole Melcher of Arabi; and a great-grandson, Keith Wayne Melcher.
She was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Wayne Worley and Marilyn Coleman Worley.
