ABBEVILLE -- Funeral services for John D. "Jack" Adkinson, 72, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2003, in the M.G. Frazier Memorial Chapel of Frazier & Son Funeral Home in Rochelle. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Forest Lawn cemetery in College Park. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today, June 26, 2003, at the funeral home.

Mr. Hamilton died Thursday, June 19, 2003, in Detroit.
William 'Bill' Burnette
FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. -- Funeral services for William "Bill" Burnette of Fernandina Beach and Cleveland, will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2003, in the Pitts United Methodist Church, Pitts. Burial will follow in the Pitts Cemetery. Barrett Funeral Home of Cleveland, and Frazier & Son Funeral Home of Rochelle have charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Burnette died Monday, May 26, 2003, at his residence in Florida following an extended illness.
A native of Wilcox County, he was born Aug. 30, 1935, to George Edward and Ethel Cantrell Burnette. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he held state and local offices in the Postal Clerks Union. He was a representative of the United Family Life Insurance Company and was preceded in death by his brothers, James Burnette, Ferrell Burnette, Lonnie Burnette, John Burnette and Hubert Burnette, and sisters, Bessie Wright and Edna Cook.
Survivors include his wife, Janice McGhee Burnette; a daughter, Lori D. Burnette; son, Mark T. Burnette, and son and daughter-in-law, Bart A. and Sharon R. Burnette; a brother, W.E. Burnette; and sisters, Geneva Nutt, Lillian Wright and Mae Simmons.
The body will be placed in the church at 12 p.m. the day of the funeral where the family will receive friends.
Major Harden
NEW YORK -- Funeral services for Major Harden, 63, will be held at 3 p.m. today, July 31, 2003, in the chapel of Bentley Carson Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery.
Mr. Harden died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, in New York.
A native of Glynn County, he was the son of the late Obie Brown and Ola Mae Gaskin. He worked as a carpenter.
Survivors include nine children, Venise A. Brown Taylor of Virginia Beach, Va., Obie Brown, Debra Ann Baez, Kim L. Barnes, Allen Harden and Felicia C. Brown all of Long Island, N.Y., Lakatasha Echols of Lithonia, Jershonda F. Hartsfield of Los Alamitos, Calif., and Kenorsha L. Herbert of Fayetteville, N.C.; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six aunts, Ruby Butler, Beatrice Clark, Ella Mae Paul, Alberta Troutman and Willie Lee Williams all of Cordele, and Yvonne Brown of South Miami, Fla.; and one uncle, Andrew Brown Jr. of Cordele.

Mildred Bragg Griffin
WARWICK -- Mildred Bragg Griffin, age 86, of Warwick died at her residence in Warwick on Tuesday, July 29, 2003.
She was born on Saturday, Jan. 6, 1917, in Dooly County, the daughter of the late Jake Byron Bragg and Minnie Mae (Goodman) Bragg. She was retired from Coastal States Life Insurance as an insurance sales agent.
Funeral services will be held at Warwick United Methodist Church on Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, at 11a.m. with burial to follow at Warwick Methodist Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, Tommy (Judy)Griffin of Cordele, and Jimmy (Betty) Griffin of Blakely; three sisters, Dorothy Lamberth of Perry, Janie Joyner and Melba Mullis both of Fort Valley; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Alvin Griffin. Visitation will be at Rainey Family Funeral Services, Inc. today from 6-8 p.m.
The family is meeting at the home of Tommy and Judy Griffin, 283 Ray Rd., Cordele.

BYROMVILLE -- Funeral services for Emma Mae Lester will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, in Macedonia Baptist Church in the Drayton Community. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Church cemetery in Byromville. The Rev. William Felton will officiate the services.
Mrs. Lester died Thursday, July 24, 2003.
The Rev. Felton will lead the processional and the Macedonia Baptist Church Senior Choir will sing "Trouble In My Way, " followed by a prayer by her son-in-law, the Rev. Johnny Sutton. Scripture will be read by Rev. Felton and Brother Otis James will sing a solo. Reflections will be offered by Sister Katie Killings and Sister Freddie Mae McKenzie. The choir will then sing "Amen" and Deacons Nathaniel Haugabrook and Eddie Daniels Sr. will offer words of reflections. Sister Robin Brown will perform a solo and Rev. Felton will give the eulogy. The family will then be presented with an heirloom bible from the staff of J.W. Williams Funeral Home.

The infant died Sunday, July 6, 2003, in North Carolina.

Mrs. Morris died Monday, July 21, 2003.
She was born in Laurens County, living in Dublin for the past 13 years. Mrs. Wilkinson was employed as a teacher for Wilkinson County Primary.
Survivors include her husband, Wesley Morris of Dublin; her father and mother, Lawrence and Gloria Nobles of Danville; a son, Drew Morris of Dublin; a sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Bill Methvin of Dublin; and her grandmother, Lavera Rickerson of Danville.

CORDELE -- Gladys Chandler Boss, 93, of Cordele, died in Crisp Regional Hospital Wednesday, July 23, 2003.
Born Saturday, Aug. 21, 1909, in Haralson County, she was the daughter of the late Enoch Philo Chandler and Beatrice Maude (Muse) Chandler. She was a homemaker and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at Ebenezer Baptist Church today, July 25, 2003, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery.
She is survived by one nephew, Ira "Sonny" N. (Carolyn)Ivey; and two nieces, Net Chandler (Dub) Lewis and Janet Chandler (Curtis) Lowery all of Cordele.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Rilla (Chandler) Ivey and Iva Chandler; brother, Tommy Chandler; and niece, Louise (Chandler) Allen.

Mr. Childs died Friday, July 18, 2003.

CORDELE -- Funeral services for Chad Williams were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2003, in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. The Revs. Royce Freeman and Danny Courson officiated the services. A poem was read by Mr. Williams' sister, Courtney Davis. Burial followed in Sunnyside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were members of the Crisp County High School ROTC: Col. Ryan Rouse, Sfc. Richard Welch, Cpt. Demarcus Henderson, Pfc. Charles Burrough, Csm. Dustin Stephenson, Maj. Charles Pheil, Ssg. Matthew Hutton, and Ssg. Christopher Jones. Sfc. Royzell Cooper NCOIC headed up the funeral detail.
Marcene Freeman, pianist, provided soft music for the service. Mrs. Freeman also accompanied Rev. Freeman and herself as they sang "Go Rest High On That Mountain." Billy Boyd sang "Serenaded By Angels."
