CORDELE -- James E. Sanders, 76, of Cordele died at Kindred Hospital in Atlanta, Friday, May 30, 2003.
He was born on Saturday, June 5, 1926, in Cordele. He was the husband of Effie Sanders. He was employed by Harris Waste Management Ret. as an equipment operator. He served in the Navy and was a W.W.II veteran. He was a member of Northern Heights Baptist Church.
Service will be held in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services, Inc. at 2 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2003. Burial will be at Mars Hill in Vienna.
He is survived by his wife, Effie Sanders of Cordele; a sister, Thelma Varnadoe of Cordele; a niece, Shirley Shaffer of Cordele; a step-son, James A. Carlisle of Amsterdam, N.Y.; a sister, Dora Bell Moore of Fort Myers, Fla.; a brother, John H. Sanders of Columbus; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Rainey Family Funeral Services, Inc. from 6-8 p.m. Sunday.

ASHBURN -- Funeral services for Thomas Carlton Pearce, 80, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Bethel Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Perry Funeral Chapel had charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Pearce died Thursday, May 29, 2003, at his residence.
Donald Kimsey
UNADILLA -- Funeral services for Donald Kimsey, 64, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2003, in the chapel of Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Unadilla. Burial will follow in Harmony-Smyrna Cemetery. Dr. Bob Murphy will officiate the services.
Mr. Kimsey died Friday, May 30, 2003, in a Warner Robins hospital.

UNADILLA -- Graveside services for Joe Mason, 47, were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2003, at Walnut cemetery in Unadilla. Dr. Bob Murphy will officiate the services, directed by Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Unadilla.
Mr. Mason died Friday, May 30, 2003, in a Hawkinsville hospital.

Clyde Gordon
MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Memorial services for Clyde Gordon, 89, will be held at 3 p.m. today, April 23, 2003, at South Brevard Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Mr. Gordon died Saturday, April 19, 2003.
Born in Pitts, Ga., he moved to Melbourne from Buckhead Ridge in Okeechobee, Fla., having formerly lived for nearly 40 years in Miami, Fla. He loved his family and enjoyed the Moose Lodge in Okeechobee and Melbourne, dancing, gardening and fishing. He came from a family of 11 brothers and sisters, and eight half-brothers and half-sisters.
Survivors include his son, Jack C. Gordon, and his wife, Joy; siblings, Alice, James and Geraldine; grandchildren, Jack Gordon and his wife, Lynn; Cheryl Culpepper and her husband, Tom; and John Gordon and his wife, Sue; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Ariana, Ryan, Brandon, James, Jenna, Blake and Mitchell; and a great-great-grandson, Aidan.
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Willie Joe 'Beaver' Hardrick
VIENNA -- Funeral services for Willie Joe "Beaver" Hardrick of Vienna will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Turkey Creek Baptist Church, Lilly. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery, Byromville. Alvie Coes Funeral Home of Unadilla has charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Hardrick died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, in Crisp Regional Hospital.
A native of Dooly County, he was the son of the late Warren Hardrick Sr. and Bessie Hardrick. He worked as a farmer and a gardener.
Survivors include his siblings, Annie Wiggins, Katie Felton, Ella (John P.) Sanders, Johnny (Lillie) Hardrick, Jeanette (Walter) Felton, Conrid (Mary) Hardrick Mary (James) Bennett, Betty Hardrick and Julia (Larry) Hardrick all of Vienna, and Charlie (Amelia) Hardrick of Hawkinsville; and a host of aunts, uncles and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The body will be placed in the church at 12 p.m.

Lou Elon Chambers
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Funeral services for Lou Elon Chambers, 85, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2003, at Southside Hewell Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. Neal Howard officiated the services. Southside Hewell Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Chambers died Friday, April 18, 2003, at the Palm Garden Home in Jacksonville.
She was the daughter of the late Alva L. and Elmer Lou Griffin Williamson.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Bridges McNeil of Polk City, Fla.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Zelda W. (James) Gleaton of Arabi, and Nedra Garwood of Tallahassee, Fla.
Staff Sgt. Steven L. Felton
FORT HOOD, Texas -- Funeral services for Staff Sgt. Steven Lamar Felton, 32, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Turkey Creek Baptist Church, Lilly. Burial will follow in the Vienna City cemetery with full military honors. Alvie Coes Funeral Home of Unadilla has charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Felton died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, in Fort Hood.
A native of Dooly County, he was a graduate of Dooly County High School and joined Turkey Creek Baptist Church at an early age. He enlisted in the United States Army in October 1989, where he served for 13 years. His military assignments include Germany, Kuwait (Operation Desert Storm), Fort Stewart, Ga., Fort Mammoth, N.J., Fort Polk, La., Haiti, South Korea, Fort Benning, Ga., Fort Hood, Texas, and Operation Enduring Freedom. He was on active duty and had received the following awards: a meritorious service medal, two Army commendation medals, seven army achievement medals, national defense service ribbons, an Army service ribbon and two overseas service ribbons. He attended Troy State University at Fort Benning, and Central Texas College at Fort Hood. He served as a chaplain assistant in the Army.
Survivors include his wife, Veronica Jones Felton; a daughter, Cameron Felton; his parents, Walter and Jeanette Felton of Lilly; his siblings, Rosie Hardrick, Vanessa Felton, Laverne Felton and Keith Felton; and a host of other relatives.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.

Mrs. Willard died Friday, March 28, 2003, at Crisp Regional Hospital.
She was born on Thursday, April 1, 1926, in Wilcox County to the late William Allen and Ada Essilee (Coats) Gibbs. She was a member of Third Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Sally (Willard) Outen of Cordele and Ada Lee (Willard) Cabell of Fayetteville, N.C.; son, Jimmy Willard of Woodstock; sister, Louise (Gibbs) Akins of Cordele; 11 grandchildren, Melanie Nipper of Cordele, Joseph Outen of Roswell, Steve Willard, Wesley Willard, Jimmy Willard and Jessie Willard, all of Acworth, Kristen Brooke Willard of Woodstock, Amber Danielle Willard of Woodstock, Michael Cabell of N.J., James Cabell of Fayetteville, N.C. and Frank Day Jr. of Eatonton.
Visitation was held at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
