M.T. 'Bo' Wennerbom
CENTER, Texas -- Graveside services for M.T. "Bo" Wennerbom, 79, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2003, at Oaklawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Keefe Cropper will officiate the services, directed by Watson & Sons Funeral Home of Center, Texas.
Mr. Wennerbom died Wednesday, July 2, 2003, in Center after a lengthy illness.
Active pallbearers will be Max Alvis, Randy McLeroy, James Crelia, Billy Bob McAdams, Patrick Godin and Ray Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be Perry Brittain, Dock Watson, Bernard Wood, Joe Lewis Jones, Jerry Pinkston, W.I. Davis, James Campbell, T.G. Carroll, Wilbur Alexander, J.C. Leggett, Tommy Specter, Walter Knighten, Robert Scarber, Deloyd Livingston, Bill Bowen, Weldon Boles, Neilson Davis and Mike Bird.
Mr. Wennerbom was a dedicated leader who embodied the highest ideals in his personal, community, professional and spiritual life. With love, grace, honor and fairness, he nurtured his family, friends, employees and colleagues. After serving as a B-24 pilot in World War II, he graduated from Texas A&M; in 1950. He was an outstanding member of the Aggie Alumni Association for 30 years. Bo championed "Quality of Life for Others" by giving back to those who helped him and by employing thousands of people, both nationally and in Europe. His credentials include president and CEO of Schindler Haughton Elevator Company in Toledo, Ohio; American Division of Schindler Elevator, Lucerne, Switzerland, including more than 80 offices in the United States; president of Haughton Elevator; vice president of Reliance Electric Company in Cleveland, Ohio; vice president of American Hoist and Derrick Company in St. Paul, Minn.; president of Harris Press and Shear Corp., a subsidiary of American Hoist and Derrick, in Cordele; chairman of Harris Economy Ltd. in Bridgend South Wales, United Kingdom, a subsidiary of American Hoist and Derrick Company.
Previously, he managed heavy manufacturing plants that produced trains and ships which included ferries for Staten Island; rough-terrain cranes and heat exchangers for the military, requiring him to have the highest level of civilian security clearance. In 1982, Forbes Magazine published an article about Bo and his successful management of Schindler Haughton Elevator.
Belonging to numerous professional organizations, he was most honored by the National Elevator Industry as director/president in New York, N.Y., and by the National Construction Employers Council as director/chairman. Upon his retirement, he received numerous letters of recognition from national leaders, including Presidents Carter, Ford and Reagan, and then vice-president Bush. The most recent correspondence from the White House came to the Wennerbom's in the form of a card on June 19, for their 58th wedding anniversary.
Bo's long tradition of service to the community included numerous scholarships for higher education and countless fundraising projects. After his retirement in Shelby County, he chaired the Shelby County Pride Committee to "clean up" the county litter, and he participated on planning committees to get a vocational school, bring more industry into the county and provide cleaner water.
In 2000, Bo and Perry Brittain, another former CEO, saw the completion of the Shelby County Courthouse renovation. The two of them volunteered their time and worked tirelessly for three years to present this landmark to the people of Shelby County.
Survivors include his wife, Doris; a daughter, Susan; sister-in-law, Joyce Weatherall, and her sons, and their families, Bill and Shenell, Trevor, Kaitlyn and Bailey; a brother and his families, Dr. John and Shirley, Andrew, Annette and Marie; four daughters; and numerous friends and other loved ones.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Texas.
Matthew Hughes
CORDELE -- Funeral services for Matthew Hughes will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2003, in Greater Morris Tabernacle Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. The Rev. Kenneth M. Williams will officiate the services, directed by J.W. Williams Funeral Home.
Mr. Hughes died Monday, June 30, 2003.
The processional will be led by the Rev. K.M. Williams and music will be rendered by the Greater Morris Mass Choir. Prayer will be offered by the Rev. Nathaniel Jackson Sr. and scripture will be read by Brother Leon Hughes and Rev. Jackson. Brother Jack King will perform a solo and reflection will be given by church members, family and friends. Diane Singletary will do a reading and the staff of J.W. Williams Funeral Home will present the family with a family heirloom bible as a keepsake.

Hamilton of Cordele, and Ed Hamilton of Philadelphia, Pa.; eight aunts, Louise Hughes and Eroyce Davis both of Cordele, Odessa (John) Wiley of New York, Marie Harris of Albany, N.Y., Ethel M. (Jessie) Brown, Willie M. (Theodore) Phinzce and Angeline (Simon) Washington all of Vero Beach, Fla., and Josephine (A.J.) Johnnie D. Parker
LEVITTOWN, Pa. -- Funeral services for Johnnie D. Parker, formerly of Cordele, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2003, in the sanctuary of the Community Baptist Church in Levittown. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2003, at Bethel cemetery in Cordele. J.W. Williams Funeral Home has charge of local arrangements.
Mr. Parker died Sunday, June 29, 2003.
Deacon Emory Wright will sing a hymn and scripture will be read by Evangelist Deborah Miller and Pastor Johnny B. Dean Jr. Brother Jack King will sing a solo and the Rev. Mr. Parker was the son of the late John Parker Gertrude Thompson. He was the father of Arthur L. Parker, general manager and owner of J.W. Williams Funeral Home of Cordele and Vienna.

Parker of Vienna, Celie Mae Trice of Saint Petersburg, Fla., Patricia Powell, Johnnie Parker Jr. and Larry Parker all of Macon; five loving sisters, Lillie Mae Byron of Pinehurst, Bishop Dorothy Snelling, the Rev. Ruthie Holloman and Ceola Cutliff all of Levittown, and Rose Fredricks of Opa Locka, Fla; his caring nieces and nephews, Helen Sanders, Mattie Mae Parker, Irene Dean, Minnie Lee Parker, Louise Royal, Joe Parker, Ruby Nell Collier, and Betty J. Emmitt Bernard Herndon
CORDELE -- Funeral services for Emmitt Bernard Herndon, 85, were held at 4 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2003, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. Burial followed in Sunnyside Cemetery. The Revs. Don Howell and Brian Cason officiated the services.
Mr. Herndon died June 11, 2003, at his residence in Dooly County.
Ray Faircloth, pianist, played soft music and accompanied Tracy Black as she sang "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art."
Pallbearers were Brian Cason, Brent Cason, Jeff Taylor, Michael Beck, Matthew Herndon and Edwin McGlamory.
Travis Peavy
CORDELE -- Funeral services for Travis Peavy, 30, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2003, in Mars Hill Baptist Church in Vienna. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Hughes & Wright Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Peavy died Saturday, June 14, 2003.
A native of Crisp County, he was a brick mason.
Survivors include his step-father and mother, Hank and Judy Brown Spivey of Cordele; brothers, Clint Spivey of Cordele, Todd Spivey of Vienna, and Hank Spivey Jr. of Tallahassee, Fla.; sisters, Lisa Elliott of Arabi, and Valarie Peavy of Orlando, Fla.; a son, Toby Peavy of Cordele; a daughter, Megan Peavy of Cordele; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Charles 'Frank' Harris
MACON -- Funeral services for Charles "Frank" Harris were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2003, in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Ricky T. Brantley and Dr. Ron Crump will officiate the services.
Mr. Harris died Sunday, June 15, 2003.
Mr. Harris was born June 27, 1927, in Wilcox County to the late Sherrill H. and Lucy Reid Harris. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. He was retired from Georgia Kraft Company and was a member of Lawrence Drive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Loyd Harris; two sons, Tim (Robin) Harris and Mark (Tracy) Harris both of Lizella; two brothers, James Delma (Joyce) Harris of Melbourne, Fla., and Homer H. (Barbara) Harris of Cordele; and one grandson, Brandon Harris.

W.O. Odom
SYCAMORE -- Graveside services for W.O. Odom, 83, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Perry Funeral Chapel has charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Odom died Monday, June 16, 2003, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Roger H. Woodard
CORDELE -- Funeral services for Roger H. Woodard were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2003, in Morningside Baptist Church. Burial followed in Sunnyside Cemetery. The Revs. Joey Boney and Sonny Dorminey officiated the services, directed by Hughes & Wright Funeral Home.
Imogene Gilliam, pianist, accompanied Eula Jo Sheffield, Peggy Haralson and Julie Partain as they sang "Beulah Land" and "Come Morning." Mrs. Haralson also sang "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" and Mary Peavy sang "At The Midnight Cry."
Pallbearers were Mike Cox, Todd Helms, Thomas Musselwhite, Frank Miller Jr., Hunter Odom, Chad Jones, Josh Canterbury and Joey Carter.

Juanita Passmore
VIENNA -- Funeral services for Juanita "Nita" Passmore will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2003, in St. Mark Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Vienna City Cemetery. The Rev. J.C. Baker will officiate the services, directed by Alvie Coes Funeral Home of Unadilla.
Ms. Passmore died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at her residence.
She was a graduate of Vienna High and Industrial School, was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church and had worked for the Georgia Pacific Corporation and the Georgia Department of Transportation.
Survivors include a companion, Starlin "S.T." Lundy of Vienna; her children, Donita (Russell) Brown, Jerome Lundy and Demetrious (Karen) Passmore all of Vienna; two grandchildren whom she reared, Lashaunda Passmore and Mikeshaund Passmore both of Vienna; her father, Otis Passmore of California; two sisters, Laverno Cobb of Vienna, and Shirley (Frank) Lewis of Conyers; a brother, Willie B. (Nadine) Harvey of Vienna; five grandchildren; her step-father, Willie G. Killings Sr. of Vienna; and a host of aunts, uncles, sisters and brothers-in-laws, nieces, nephews, special friends and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her mother, the late Thelma Killings.

Mr. Lawson died Monday, June 9, 2003, in Austell.
He was a native of Houston County.
