Eugene 'Bill' Raines
CORDELE -- Funeral services for Eugene "Bill" Raines of Cordele will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, in the sanctuary of Beulah Land Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Hardshell Cemetery. The Rev. D.L. Brown will officiate the services.
Mr. Raines died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003.
The processional will be led by Rev. Brown who will also give the prayer and scripture. Music will be rendered by Norris Mathis. A poem will be read by Sharon Raines and words of reflection will be given by family members and friends. The funeral home staff will present the family with a family heirloom bible as a keepsake.

WARWICK -- Funeral services for Ruth Porter of Warwick will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, in the sanctuary of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Fort Early Cemetery. The Ivory J. Corbin will officiate the services.
Mrs. Porter died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003.
Pastor Corbin will lead the processional and the Mt. Moriah Church choir will sing a selection. Deacon Sammie McGill will offer prayer and the Rev. Donnie R. Hall Sr. will read scripture. Sister Ella Mae Walker and others desiring will give words of reflection and Pastor Corbin will give the eulogy. Mr. Arnold died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, in Archbold Medical Center following a brief illness.
John 'Johnny' Harrison Cape
CORDELE -- Funeral services for Johnny H. Cape, 62, were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at Morningside Baptist Church. Burial was in Penia Baptist Cemetery. Rainey Family Funeral Services was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Cape died Nov. 17, 2003, at his residence.
The Rev. Joey Boney, Rev. Eve Tomberlin and Rev. Jan Conner conducted the services. Music was provided by Imogene Gilliam, pianist. Billy White sang "Sweet Beulah Land." The service was closed with the congregation singing "Victory in Jesus." Pallbearers were Mikel Sewell, Carl Sewell, Rob Whitehead, Johnny Rickerson, Wade Cape and Mitch Mitchell.
Almetia Johnson Anderson
ATLANTA --Funeral services for Almetia Johnson Anderson, 65, formerly of Vienna, will be held at 12 p.m. today, Nov. 30, 2003, in the Free Providence Baptist Church in Vienna. Burial will follow in the Vienna City Cemetery. The Rev. W.G. Carter will officiate the services.
Mrs. Anderson died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, in the South Atlanta Medical Center in East Point.
She was born in Seville to the late Willie and Trudie Cross Johnson. She was a homemaker and had worked as a seamstress and cook. She was educated in the local area schools and attended the Free Providence Church before moving to Pennsylvania where she joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Pete Anderson of Vienna; four children, Jerome Anderson of Atlanta, Almetia Anderson Jr., Tommy J. (Thelma) Anderson and Terry (Elois) Anderson all of Vienna; four sisters, Willie M. (Johnnie) Colter, Ethel Westbrook and Dorothy D. Butts all of Lancaster, Pa., and Edige M. Butts of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three brothers, Sammy (Nellie) Johnson and Willie L. Johnson of Lancaster, Pa., and Haywood Johnson of Greenville, S.C.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one aunt, Lena B. Jones of Albany.

James Troy Pitts
PITTS -- Funeral services for James Troy Pitts, 90, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 30, 2003, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. Burial will follow in Seville Cemetery.
Mr. Pitts died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, in Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Born Sept. 29, 1913, in Telfair County, he was the son of the late Styles Victor Pitts and May Wilson Pitts, and was the widower of the late Loaine Gordon Pits. He was a 1936 graduate of Pitts High School and attended Middle Georgia College. Mr. Pitts entered the U.S. Navy in 1937, and served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor, stationed aboard the USS Honolulu. He retired as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force in 1958. He was a retired farmer and a retired bus driver for the Crisp County School System.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynn Pitts of Cordele; and a son, Tom Pitts of Oakfield.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack Pitts and Glenn Pitts; and a sister, Edna Pitts Mason.

CORDELE -- Funeral services for Loron L. Wiley were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial followed in Sunnyside Cemetery. Dr. John Smith and Rosebud McMurray gave the eulogy.
Eula Jo Sheffield, pianist, accompanied Charles Clark who led the congregation in singing "Blessed Assurance" and "Count Your Blessings."
Pallbearers were Hal Carter, Pete Peebles, Bub Denham, Charles Clark, Harry Hurt and Wesley Turton.

UNADILLA -- Funeral services for Curtis Lamar Lawson, 40, of Houston County, formerly of Unadilla, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, in the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church near Unadilla. Mr. Lawson died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, in Peach County.
He was the son of the late Ethel Mae and Arthur Lawson Sr. of Dooly County. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and was educated in the Dooly County Public Schools. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps earning the rank of sergeant, worked with the U.S. Postal Service and was a #1 car salesman.
Survivors include three sons, Corey, Craig and Christopher Lawson all of Warner Robins, his mother, Rosa L. Lawson of Unadilla; a brother, Arthur (Chanel) Lawson Jr. of Tampa, Fla.; three sisters, Eloise (Andre) Spivey, Patricia (Keith) Brown both of Warner Robins, and Josephine Lawson of Cordele; and his grandparents, Miller and Mary Frances Lawson of Unadilla.
