Services for Charles Clark Jones of Helena, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5 in the chapel of Lowe’s Funeral Home with with interment in New Bethel Church Cemetery.
The Rev. Sonny Harrell officiated.
Jones, 56, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004. He was the son of the late Archie and Mary Purvis Jones.
He was born in Dodge County and was a retired meat cutter.
Survivors include his son, Doug Jones of Dublin; daughter, Pam Jones Logue of Helena; brother, Lenard Harrelson; sisters, Harvelyn Howard and Willie Mae Burch, both of Helena; and seven nieces and nephews.

Alice Beatrice Fletcher McRae
Services for Alice Beatrice Fletcher McRae of Telfair County, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 at Wesley Chapel C.M.E. Church with interment in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Robert Haywood officiated.
McRae, 65, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Fletcher and Rosa Bell Cooper and was the widow of Vasco McRae Sr. She was preceded in death by two children, Eschol and Ida Lee McRae.
She was a faithful member of Temple Chapel C.M.E. Church where she served on the stewardess board and enjoyed singing in the choir.
Survivors include her children, James McRae, Vasco McRae, Lewis McRae, Marie Pierce, Matilda Scott and Ronald McRae; brothers, Clifford Washington, Oris Fletcher and Leroy Fletcher; sister, Shirley Williams; 26 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Billy R. Pennington
Services for Billy R. Pennington of Rhine, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7 in Rhine United Methodist Church with interment in Bay Springs Cemetery.
Pennington, 79, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004 at his residence. He was the son of the late Prentis Pennington and Willie Dollar Pennington and was married to Leneta Dennis Pennington. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Hagwell and a brother, Keith Pennington.
He was a native of Lamar County, Ala. and was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, as former executive director of Wilcox County ASCS Office and a past member of Dodge County Golf Club. He was a Sunday school teacher, lay speaker, member and former chairman of Official Board of Rhine United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughters, Beth Wilker of Atlanta, Melissa Brown of Rhine, and Olivia Dunaway of Dallas, Texas; sister, Ruth Molloy; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Eugene E. Smith
Services for Eugene E. Smith of Helena, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30 at Lowe’s Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Zion Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.

Smith, 80, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004. He was the son of the late Joseph Herman and Eva Lois Poole Smith. He was retired from Champion International of Lumber City.
Survivors include his sisters, Eunice Coleman of Green Cove Springs, Fla., Maude Thompson of Helena, and Connie Stroble of Gainsville, Fla.; one brother, Henry B. Smith of Mays Landing, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.

Elsie A. Tripp
Services for Elsie A. Tripp of Eastman, were held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30 at Eastside Baptist Church with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.
The Rev. Albert Lyles and the Rev. Mike Fitzpatrick officiated.
Tripp, 74, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Henry Grady Allen and Mary Elizabeth Shadix Allen and was the widow of William Tripp Sr. She was preceded in death by a son, Donnie Tripp.
A native of Telfair County, she was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Tripp and Mary Ann McLeod, both of Eastman and Brenda Graham of Cadwell; son, William Tripp Jr. of Eastman; sisters, Vena Sheffield of Chauncey, Vestula Maddox of Florida, Dollie Dixon of Savannah, Myrtle Allen of Springfield and Helen Smith of Eastman; brother, Johnnie Allen of Springfield; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Ruth Whitehead Stanley
Services for Ruth Whitehead Stanley of McRae, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2 at Millcreek Baptist Church with interment in Milan Cemetery.

Stanley, 81, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004 in the Telfair Regional Hospital. She was the daughter of the late John and Sarah Whitehead and was the widow of Albert Felton. She was preceded in death by a son, Eddie Lee Felton.
She was retired from McRae Manor Nursing Home.
Survivors include her son, Artist Felton, Tom’s River, N.J.; a daughter, Betty Jean McRae of McRae; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Allie Myrtice Taylor Yawn
Services for Allie Myrtice Taylor Yawn of Jacksonville, Fla., were held Tuesday, Sept. 7 in Gray Gables Baptist church with interment in the Jones Cemetery.
Yawn, 77, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004. Born in Telfair County, she was the widow of Julian Hobson Yawn.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda Mullis and Priscilla Irwin, both of Callahan, Fla.; brothers, James Taylor of Fernandina Beach and Warren Taylor of Warner Robins; a sister, Blanche Deen of Green Cove Springs, Fla; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Eula Green Powell
Services for Eula Green Powell of McRae, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24 at Macedonia Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.

Powell, 99, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Archie and Mary Studstill Green and was the widow of James Burl Powell.
Born in Telfair County, she was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and a retired seamstress with Quality Cleaners in McRae.
Survivors include her son, Jimmy Powell of McRae; two daughters, Adell Hamilton of St. Mary’s and Annette Guin of Macon; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren.

William (Bill) DoDaddy Wilkes
Services for William (Bill) DoDaddy Wilkes of Lumber City, were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29 in the chapel of Miles Funeral Home with interment in Fishing Creek Cemetery in Telfair County.
The Rev. Joe McLeod and the Rev. W.J. Hargrove officiated.
Wilkes, 65, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004. He was the son of the late Olith Doll Wilkes and Ruby Alice Baggett Wilkes and was married to Donna Varnadoe Wilkes. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Paul L. Varnadoe and a brother, Doyle Wilkes.
A native of Grady County, he had lived in Telfair County most of his life. He was a previous manager of Louisiana Pacific.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his sons, Keith Wilkes of Glenwood, Matthew Varnadoe of Hazlehurst, Andrew Varnadoe, Daniel Varnadoe, and James Varnadoe, all of Lumber City; sister, Earlene Ouzts of Cario; and two grandchildren.

D.G. (Geter) Bellflower
Services for D.G. (Geter) Bellflower of McRae, were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18 in the chapel of Lowe’s Funeral Home with interment in Helena City Cemetery.

Bellflower, 91, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004. He was the son of the late Jesse and Rebecca Purvis Bellflower. He was the widower of Grace Lester Bellflower and was preceded in death by a sister, Isabelle Yeomans and three brothers, Melton, Kenny and Johnny Bellflower.
Born in Dodge County, he was retired from Southern Cotton Oil Co. and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his daughters, Mildred Jones of Helena and Bobbie Wells of Bryon; one grandson, Jonathan Hall of Cumming; and two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Jon Hall of Cumming.
