CORDELE -- Funeral services for Hugh Daniel "Danny" Smith, 51, of Cordele will be held at 2 p.m. today, April 18, 2004, at Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Creek Cemetery.
Smith died at Crisp Regional Hospital Friday, April 16, 2004.
He was born Wednesday, Sept. 10, 1952, in Americus and was the son of the late Loice Carl Smith and Viola Faircloth Smith. Mr. Smith was employed by Ace Hardware. He was a member of Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church and a faithful member for 15 years of the Crisp County Chapter of AA.
He is survived by his children, Fran Smith and Loice Chuck Smith, both of Cordele; three brothers, Allan R. Smith of Cordele and Gerry M. Smith and Loice "Butch" Smith, both of Shelby, NC; two sisters, Karen "Kitty" Ballew of Phoenix, Ariz. and Jackie S. Lang of Marietta, Ohio; and a dear friend, Cathryn Garner of Cordele.
Memorials may be made to the Crisp County Chapter of AA, Agilis House, 502 East 11th Avenue, Cordele, Ga. 31015. The family received friends at Rainey Family Funeral Services Saturday, April 17, 2004, from 6-8 p.m.

David Guy Fitzgerald
ROCHELLE -- Graveside services for Chief David Guy Fitzgerald, 89, of Rochelle will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, April 19, 2004, in the Morningside Cemetery. The Rev. Talmadge Wilcox and Rev. Jim Wiley will officiate. Firefighters honors will be rendered by the Laurens County Fire Department Honor Guard and the Centerville Fire Department Pipes & Drums Corps.
Mr. Fitzgerald was born in Wilcox County May 5, 1914, where he had lived his entire life. He was the son of the late David Wright Fitzgerald and Ethel Barrett Fitzgerald. He was a member of the First Baptist Church Adults men's Bible Class and the Veteran of Foreign Wars. He was a World War II Navy Veteran.
He and his wife were retired owners and operator of the City Service Station in Rochelle for 41 years, and he served as chief of the Rochelle Volunteer Fire Department since 1946.
He is survived by his wife, Imogene Land Fitzgerald of Rochelle and a nephew, Jimmie Lee Land of Griffin.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. today in the funeral home. Frazier & Son Funeral Home of Rochelle has charge of arrangements.
Deacon Joe Eddie Tookes
VIENNA -- Funeral services for Deacon Mr. Joe Eddie Tookes of Vienna will be held at noon Monday, April 19, 2004, in the J.W. Williams Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William Felton officiating. Burial will follow in the Vienna City Cemetery.
Mr. Tookes died April 14, 2004.
Survivors include his children, Lydia (James) Wilson of Vienna, O.C. Tookes of Flint, Mich., Vickie (Mike) Tate of Dorchester, Ma.; grandsons, Alonzo, Timothy, Dwight, Andre, Vaughn; granddaughters, Linda, Kathy, Mona, Ashlyn; very special nieces & nephew whom he reared, Theodis Williams, Dorothy Carter, Queen Jones; and special friend, Ida Waters.

Sallie Mae Hayes
CORDELE -- Funeral services for Sallie Mae Hayes, 87, of Cordele will be held at 3 p.m. today, April 18, 2004, at the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery.
She died Friday, April 16, 2004, at her residence.
She was a native of Crisp County and worked as a seamstress with Cordele Uniform. She was a member of the Third Street Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sisters, Bernice Faircloth of Cordele and Doris Grogan of Snellville; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Saturday, April 17 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Claire W. Chambless
LILLY -- Funeral services for Claire W. Chambless, 80, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 5, 2004, in the Lilly United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Lilly City Cemetery.
Mrs. Chambless died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, in an Albany hospital.
Born in Dooly County, she was the daughter of the late John William Woodruff and Hattie Bowen Woodruff. She graduated from Andrew College, retired from Forest Mills where she was a payroll clerk and was a member of Lilly United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Merilyn (Lee) Guerry of Cordele; a son, Pete (Edie) Chambless of Summerville; sisters, Margaret Bailey of Douglas, Ellen (Jack) Stanford of Snellville, and Grace (Albert) Mason of Clearwater, Fla.; grandchildren, Emily Guerry of Charleston, S.C., Guy Chambless of Rome, and Joel Guerry of Rochester, N.Y.; and great-grandchildren, Ella Claire Chambless and Emmie Chambless both of Rome.

Lester Thomas Dorenkamper
CORDELE -- Lester Thomas Dorenkamper, 86, died at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004.
He was born Monday, July 23, 1917, in Kelliher, Minn., the son of the late Freddrick John Dorenkamper and Mary Alice Gehlert Dorenkamper. He was a retired farmer and a United States Air Force veteran, having served during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Hilda Gehlert Dorenkamper of Cordele; two daughters, Jan Dorenkamper Kvilhaug of Arabi, and Catherine Barata of Buford; two sisters, Adelaide Johnson of Hoyt Lakes, Minn., and Pearl Schmidt of Kelliher, Minn.; six grandchildren, Ronald Barata and Raymond Barata both of Atlanta, Ann Carter of Cumming, Jeffery Kvilhaug of Big Lake, Minn., Kim Weldon of Hanceville, Ala., and Michelle Brazel of Arabi.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Dorenkamper and a sister, Rita Lundin.

Mrs. Munoz died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Louise Williford
UNADILLA -- Funeral services for Louise Williford, 81, of Unadilla will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2004, in First Baptist Church in Unadilla. Dr. Bob Murphy will officiate and burial will follow in Walnut Cemetery. Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Unadilla has charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Williford died Tuesday, Feb. 24.

Lucile Avery Tucker

Mrs. Tucker died Monday, March 15, 2004, in Tift Health Care following a lengthy illness.
Lois Ruth Clayton
AMERICUS -- Funeral services for Lois Ruth Clayton, 76, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2004, in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services. Burial will follow in Midway Church cemetery in Crisp County. The Rev. Mike Jarvis will officiate the services.
Mrs. Clayton died Tuesday, March 16, 2004.
A native of Crisp County, she was born Feb. 16, 1928, the daughter of the late James Rhollie Timmons and Nannie Mae Thomason Timmons. She was a homemaker, a bookkeeper for her husband's business, Clayton Plumbing and Electric in Americus for many years, and worked in the business office at Georgia Southwestern State University. She was a charter member of Morningside United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Parks Hollis "Bill" Clayton of Americus; a daughter, Janis Warren of Americus; a son and daughter-in-law, Hollis and Peggy Clayton of Americus; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ethel and Jackie Willard and Faustine and Grady Wiley all of Cordele; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Jean Timmons and Marvin and Sharon Timmons all of Cordele; three grandchildren, Daniel Warren and Wendy Clayton both of Americus, and Kim Debose of Marion, Ill.; and two great-grandchildren, Dillon Debose and Brooke Debose both of Marion, Ill.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Dan "Danny" Warren.

James S. 'Jim' Dalrymple
SEVILLE -- Funeral services for James S. "Jim" Dalrymple, 92, of Seville will be held at 2 p.m. today, April 4, 2004, at Seville Baptist Church, with interment to follow at Seville Cemetery.
Mr. Dalrymple died at his residence Friday, April 2, 2004.
Born Tuesday, Sept. 26, 1911, in Wilcox County, he was the son of the late George David Dalrymple and Maggie Lee Barefoot Dalrymple. Mr. Dalrymple was a mechanic (RET) and a member of Seville Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Odessa Dalrymple of Seville; two daughters, Doris Shirah and Ann Parker, both of Seville; a son and daughter-in-law, James C. "Bud" and Jackie Dalrymple of Sycamore; a step-son and his wife, Owens and Shirley Edge of San Luis Potosi, Mex.; a step-daughter, Reta Allen of Cordele; a brother and sister-in-law, Bo and Betty Dalrymple of Cordele; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Nell Pollock Guthrie
BUENA VISTA -- Mrs. Nell Guthrie, age 89, died early Friday morning, April 2, 2004, at Marion Memorial Nursing Home in Buena Vista.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., today, April 4, 2004, at Sunnyside cemetery in Cordele with Rev. Jon Earls officiating.
A native of Dooly County, Mrs. Guthrie was born November 6, 1914, daughter of the late Ed Pollock and Ellen Porter Pollock. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
