Lynn Howard
SYCAMORE -- Funeral services for Lynn Howard, 36, of Sycamore, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2004, at Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow in Bethel Cemetery.
Ms. Howard died Saturday at Tift Regional Hospital following a brief illness.
Ms. Howard was born in Tifton and had resided in Turner County most of her life. She was the daughter of the late James "Jim" B. Howard and Ellen Rooks Bullington of Sycamore. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and was a bus driver for the Turner County Board of Education.
She is survived by two sons, Casey Weldon and David Whittle, both of Sycamore; one daughter, Callie Carswell of Sycamore; mother and father, Ellen and Delmer Bullington of Sycamore; two brothers, Dr. Drew Howard and Scott Bullington of Sycamore; one sister, Joy Hill of Ashburn; maternal grandparents, Fred and Josie Rooks of Ashburn; paternal grandmothers, Christine Ross and Mildred Bullington, both of Sycamore.
Visitation will be today from 6 - 8 p.m. at Perry Funeral Chapel, Ashburn.
Sarah Pearl Fedrick
JONESBORO -- Funeral services for Minister Sarah Pearl Fedrick, formerly of Cordele, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2004, in the A.S. Clark School Auditorium. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Pastors Hosea Clay and Arlene Davis will officiate the services.
Ms. Fedrick died Wednesday, March 24, 2004.
Survivors include her children, Lastavoien K. Sutton of Atlanta, Tamora (Cedric) Sutton-Jones of Covington, Johnny K. Sutton Jr. of Palmetto, Johnvette K. Sutton, Nelson F. Fedrick and Ozzie R. Louvenia M. Brown
ABBEVILLE -- Funeral services for Louvenia M. Brown, 42, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2004, in Springfield Baptist Church in Abbeville. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Connie K. Graham will officiate the services, directed by Ferguson Funeral Home of Rochelle.
Ms. Brown died Thursday, March 25, 2004, in Dodge County Hospital in Eastman.
Elizabeth Wallace Thrower
CORDELE -- Funeral services for Elizabeth Wallace Thrower will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2004, in Holly Grove Baptist Church in Pinehurst. Burial will follow in Big Poplar Springs cemetery in Unadilla.
Ms. Thrower died Sunday, March 28, 2004, in an Albany hospital.
A native of Ben Hill County, she was the daughter of the late Sol Wallace and Moriah Kinchen Wallace. She was a homemaker and member of Holly Grove Baptist Church where she served as vice president of the Missionary Society.
Survivors include a daughter, Annie Lois Wallace of Cordele; siblings and their spouses, Allene Cantrell of Cordele, Catherine Wallace of Macon, C.J. (Annie Eva) Wallace of Unadilla, Samuel Wallace of Robbins, Ill., the Rev. Solomon (Aldon) Wallace of Vienna, and Aaron (Mary) Wallace of Riviera Beach, Fla.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

ASHBURN -- Graveside funeral services for infant Landon Chay Blalock, infant son of Kelley Hires of Leesburg, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 25, 2004, in Rose Hill cemetery in Ashburn. The infant died Monday, March 22, 2004, in Atlanta hospital.

CORDELE -- Funeral services for Linda A. Hunt will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, in the sanctuary of Macedonia Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Macedonia Church Cemetery. The Rev. Charles Perry Jr. will officiate the services.
Mrs. Hunt died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004.

PINEHURST -- Jennifer Kent, 17, of Pinehurst, died Friday March 5, 2004.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today, March 7, 2004, in Byromville Baptist Church with burial in Forehand Cemetery.
Born in Americus, she was a member of Byromville Baptist Church and was a junior at Fullington Academy. Jennifer loved sports and played tennis, softball, and basketball at Fullington. She was also on the track team. The basketball teams she played on finished this season as runner-up in the region and won the region championship the past three seasons. She won the award for best defensive player on the basketball team this year, the award for best offensive player on the softball team this year and was the MVP of the track team.
In addition to her academic and athletic accomplishments, she enjoyed working as a tutor in the Learning Center.
She is survived by her parents, Joe and Patricia Kent of Pinehurst; a brother, Josh Kent of Pinehurst; maternal grandparents, Jane DeLoach of Byromville and Ben and Leila DeLoach of Montezuma; and paternal grandparents, Thomas and Jean Kent of Pinehurst.

Rev. James Harold Rowland Sr.
WAYNESBORO -- The Rev. James Harold Rowland, Sr., 72, of 116 Lake Bluff Drive, Waynesboro, died Friday, March 5, 2004, at Burke Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today, March 7, 2004, at First Baptist Church in Waynesboro with Dr. J. Truett Gannon and the Rev. Father Gary Abbott presiding. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Visitation was from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2004, at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home in Waynesboro.
Rev. Rowland was a native of Cordele and a resident of Waynesboro for 47 years. He was educated at Mercer University in Macon and graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He was pastor of First Baptist Church in Waynesboro, First Baptist Church in Washington, Lake Toxaway in North Carolina and First Baptist Mission Church in Marietta. He was also instrumental in establishing Rosemont Heights Baptist Church in Waynesboro and served in various positions of the Georgia Baptist Convention.
Rev. Rowland was mayor of the City of Waynesboro from 1992 to 1995 and served as president of the Burke County Chamber of Commerce.
He was president of the Waynesboro Rotary Club in 1963 and Washington Rotary Club and received the distinguished honor of Paul Harris Fellow. He was a charter member the International Fellowship of Flying Rotarians and a former weekly columnist of the Washington News-Reporter and a weekly columnist for The True Citizen in Waynesboro until his death. He was an avid golfer and hunter.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joan Thompson Rowland; three children, James Harold Rowland, Jr. of Grovetown, Cheryl R. Henderson of Beech Island, S.C. and Ernest E. Rowland of Augusta; five grandchildren and a great- grandson; and a sister, Mrs. Faye Gregory of Stern, N.C. Pallbearers will be William Harold Rowland, Ernest Hampton Rowland, John Creighton Henderson, Jr., John Creighton Henderson, Sr., Brian Rowland Henderson, and James Jeffrey Goff.

Catherine Bush Howard
LESLIE -- Catherine Bush Howard, 86, of Leslie, formerly of Cordele, died at Flint River Community Hospital in Montezuma Thursday, March 4, 2004.
She was born Wednesday, Dec. 12, 1917, in Fitzgerald, and was the daughter of the late Thomas Clifton Bush Sr. and Eula Malinda Turner Bush.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 7, 2004, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services with interment to follow at Leslie cemetery in Leslie.
She is survived by her daughter, Malinda Howard of Providence, R.I.; her son, William (Brenda) Chadwick of Rossville; a brother, Dr. Thomas Clifton Bush Jr. of Cordele; and grandchildren, Karen Denise Chadwick of Rossville, Lynn (Anthony) Byrd of Ringgold, Catherine E. Weiner of Los Angeles, Calif., Mark S. Weiner Jr. of Providence, R.I., and Robert A. Gammino III of Providence, R.I.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Margaret M. McMillan Boyd
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Margaret M. McMillan Boyd, 91, of 3100 Shore Drive, passed away March 6, 2004.
Mrs. Boyd was born in Turner County and was the daughter of the late Talley and the late Clara Cone McMillan. She grew up in Arabi with her two sisters, the late Mildred McMillan Slappey and the late Myra McMillan Smith. She was graduated from Cordele High School in June of 1930. She received an associate's degree from Georgia Southwestern College in Americus in 1937. She received her bachelor's degree in education from Georgia Teachers College (now Georgia Southern University) in Statesboro in 1943. She began her teaching career in Crisp County. After her marriage to the late Lt. Col. Randolph W. Boyd, Mrs. Boyd and "Randy" had many assignments around the world before settling in Arlington, Va., for over 40 years. She was an active member of the Clarendon Baptist Church and in her neighborhood of Ashton Heights.
Mrs. Boyd touched the lives of many young children for over 30 years as a first grade teacher. She retired in 1975 from the Devonshire Elementary School in Arlington County, Va. "Aunt Margaret, " as she was lovingly known to many, moved to Virginia Beach in 1998 to enjoy her final years near family and friends at Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay. She became a member of Bayside Presbyterian Church and was active with Circle 9. Her smile, laugh and wit were beloved by all that knew her.
An inspiration and joy to everyone she met, Mrs. Boyd is survived by her nephew, Capt. (USN, retired) Emmett W. Smith and his wife Suzanne of Virginia Beach, a niece, Sandra Smith of Musella, Ga., along with four great nieces, Jennifer Smith, Stephanie Smith and Amber Smith of Chesapeake, Virginia and Gloria Smith of Birmingham, Ala.; five great nephews, Clint Smith and Mike Smith of Birmingham, Ala., Randy Smith of Chesapeake, Bryan Wolfram and Trey Guion of Virginia Beach; a great-great niece, Kassidy Rachel Smith of Chesapeake; and four great-great nephews, Zachary Smith, Jesse Smith and Quinton Smith of Birmingham, Ala. and Aidan James Smith of Chesapeake, Va. She is preceded by her nephew Luther L. (Mac) Smith, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., March 9, 2004, in the chapel at Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay, 3100 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach. A reception will follow for family and friends in the Anderson Bayview Room. Internment will be Friday, March 12, 2004, at 9 a.m. in Arlington National Cemetery.
The family extends its most sincere appreciation to the entire staff of Westminster-Canterbury for the many kindness shown to Aunt Margaret during her six-year residency. We especially thank the staff of the Health Care Center and Angela Davis for their loving and special care over the last year of her life.

Perry Roy "Bud" Gill
CORDELE -- Perry Roy "Bud" Gill, 74, of Cordele died at Cordele Health & Rehab Saturday, February 14, 2004. He was born Wednesday, March 27, 1929, in Detroit, MI and was the son of the late Herschel Gill and Agnes Neaks Gill.
Mr. Gill was a truck driver. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Lillian Sokolowski Gill of Cordele; two step-daughters, Sharon Flanders of Cordele and Janet Tritschler of Perry; a step-son, Thomas Clark of Cordele and four grandchildren.
A service was held held on Monday evening at7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services with Rev. Randy Mathis officiating.
