CORDELE -- Funeral services for Buford Carter, 54, of Cordele, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at New Oat Grove Baptist Church and burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Bentley Carson Memorial Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Carter died Saturday, May 17, 2003, at a local hospital.
He was a native of Crisp County and a seasonal farm worker. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church.
He is survived by his mother, Fannie C. Stewart; sisters and brothers, Jerry Stewart, Buford (Betty) Stewart, Brenda (Greg) Shilo, Retha (Willie Joe) Whitest, Willie Stewart, all of Cordele, Kathy (Curtis) Gilbert of Blakely; aunts and uncles: James (Melba) Carter, Isiah (Hattie) Carter, Paul (Lois) Carter all of Cordele, Elijah Carter, Arthur Carter, Dorothy (Johnny) Mack all of Chiefland Fla. a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

E.T. Parham Jr.
CORDELE -- Funeral services for E.T. Parham Jr., 88, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2003, in the Pitts Church of God. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery.
Mr. Parham died Wednesday, May 21, 2003.
A native of Crisp County, he was a member of the Pitts Church of God and was employed with the field maintenance department for the FFA.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Cantrell Parham of Cordele; two sons, George Ricky Parham of Peachtree City, and Danny Robert Parham of Flowery Branch; a daughter, Josie Elaine Parham of Monroe; a step-daughter, Betty Odom of Sylvester; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Geraldine Carter Hickman
ASHBURN -- Funeral services for Geraldine Carter Hickman, 76, will be held at 2 p.m. today, June 4, 2003, in Harrell Faircloth Funeral Home in Moultrie. Burial will follow in Brushy Creek cemetery in Ocilla. The Rev. Mark Jordan will officiate the services.
Mrs. Hickman died Monday, June 2, 2003, in Ashburn Healthcare Center.
A native of Coffee County, she was the daughter of the late Andrew C. and Verna Willie Anderson Carter, and the widow of the late Monroe F. Hickman. She was a homemaker and a member of Riverside Holiness Church in Moultrie.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha (Dale) Allen of Cordele; a sister, Maude Carter of Blackshear; three grandchildren, Michael Mullis, Michelle Allen and Timothy Allen; and three great-grandchildren.
Doris Odum George
CORDELE -- Graveside services for Doris Odum George were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2003, at Smoak cemetery in Crisp County. The Rev. Emory Howell officiated the services, directed by Rainey Family Funeral Services.
Mrs. George died June 4, 2003, in Cordele Health and Rehab.
Amanda McKinney
CORDELE -- Funeral services for Amanda McKinney, 22, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2003, in the First Baptist Church of Cordele. Burial followed in Ebenezer Cemetery. The Rev. Stewart Moody of Statesboro officiated the services, directed by Rainey Family Funeral Services.
Miss McKinney died June 5, 2003, in Butts County.
Lynn Hansen, pianist, played soft music. The opening prayer was given by Tandy Brannan.
Pallbearers were Lyle McKinney, Stuart McKinney, Zack McKinney, David Glass, Bill Alderman and Joseph Shuford.
Lola Jackson, 98, of Vienna died Monday, June 9, 2003, in Crisp Regional Hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Alvie Coes Funeral Home of Unadilla.
Rev. John Wesley Archibald
CORDELE -- Funeral services for the Rev. John Wesley Archibald will be held at 3 p.m. today, June 3, 2003, in Shady Grove Baptist Church. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2003, in Dudley Memorial cemetery in Dublin. The Rev. M. Sven "Karl" Colquitt will officiate the services, directed by J.W. Williams Funeral Home.
Mr. Archibald died Friday, May 30, 2003.
Pastor Gregory L. Homer Sr. will lead the processional and prayer will be offered by the Rev. Fred Harriell. Scripture will be read by the Rev. Isaiah Archibald and Gregory L. Homer Sr. Words of reflection will be given by Samuel "Levey" Garrison, Lester Monroe and the Rev. Samuel Hendricks. A solo will be sung by M.R. Williams and the Rev. Colquitt will deliver the eulogy. The staff of the funeral home will present the family with an African-American heirloom bible as a keepsake.
A native of Chattahoochee County, he was born Oct. 24, 1907, to the late Julia Fluellen Archibald and the late Rev. Judge Archibald. He was a graduate of the public schools of Muscogee County, and attended Morris Brown College in Atlanta. Under the leadership and mentoring of the late Bishop W.A. Fountain, Rev. Archibald entered the ministry and devoted a 55-year career in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. His pastorates include churches in Savannah, Waycross, Quitman, Bainbridge, Moultrie, Valdosta, Douglas, Eastman and Cordele. He also served as presiding elder in the Old Dublin District.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Lois Mathis Archibald; a daughter, Odessa Maria Archibald of Atlanta; a sister-in-law, Leola Archibald of Columbus; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Willie Ben Ruis
CORDELE -- Funeral services for Willie Ben Ruis, 75, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2003, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. Burial followed in Sunnyside Cemetery. The Rev. Tommy Mason and Layman Lee Guerry officiated the services.
Mr. Ruis died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at his residence.
Jeff Ellis, trumpeter, played "Amazing Grace" as the family entered the chapel. Norma Turton, pianist, provided soft music for the service. She accompanied Angie Carr and Scott Hearn as they sang "It Is Well With My Soul" and Hearn as he sang "How Great Thou Art."
Pallbearers were Charles Miller, Dean Smith, Bill Grimes, Bob Bennett, Bobby Hunt and Henry Pridgen.
Members of the Wesley Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church served as honorary pallbearers.
At the close of the service, Charles Miller led the congregation in singing "Love, Mercy and Grace."

Mr. Sanders died Friday, May 30, 2003, in Kindred Hospital in Atlanta.
Larry Varnadoe, pianist, played soft music and accompanied Rev. Hanson as he sang "Amazing Grace." Varnadoe closed the service by singing "How Great Thou Art."
Pallbearers were Marvin Lewis, John Varnadoe, Mike Varnadoe, Bobby Davis, Jim Urquhart and Ken Lewis.

ALBANY -- Funeral services for Joe C. Moore, 74, of Leesburg, will be held at 11 a.m. (CST) Thursday, June 5, 2003, at Wilcox Funeral Home in Carthage, Miss. Burial will follow in Pearl Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Bobby Harrell will officiate the services, directed by Mathews Funeral Home.
Mr. Moore died Sunday, June 1, 2003.
A native of Edenburg, Miss., he had resided in Leesburg since 1999. He was retired from Multicraft Industries and was formerly employed with Plantation Pecans in Leesburg. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Leesburg, where he attended the Bobby Harrell Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Moore of Leesburg; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles R. and Sherry Moore of Leesburg; two daughters and their husbands, Patsy and Rickey Ivey of Leesburg, and Scharla and Scott Bivings of Ridgeland, Miss.; a brother, Billy J. Moore of Kileen, Texas; a sister, Janie Meggs of Jasper, Ala.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Ray Moore and Jimmy Frank Moore.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Wilcox Funeral Home.
Edward Harris Brown
ASHBURN -- Funeral services for Edward Harris Brown, 67, will be held at 3:30 p.m. today, June 3, 2003, in Perry Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Sunnyside cemetery in Cordele.
Mr. Brown died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at his residence following a brief illness.
A native of Crisp County, he had resided in Turner County for the last 43 years. He was the son of the late Calvin Harris and Cordelia Thompson Brown. He was a retired financial systems analyst at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Clements Chapel Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Roberts Brown of Ashburn; a son, George Brown of Albany; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Pat Caton of Ashburn, Cordelia and Danny Rosazza of Avondale, Pa., and Sylvia Brown of Mesquite, Texas; a sister, Ethel Rose Cline of Coshocton, Ohio; and grandchildren, Nicole and Calvin Caton of Ashburn, Rebecca and Sara Rosazza of Avondale, Pa., and J.D., Amber, Justin and Bristol Cox of Albany.
C.L. Jackson
TIFTON — Funeral services for Mr. C.L. Jackson, 70, formerly of Turner County, will be held Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the Amboy Baptist Church in Turner Co. iIntermentwill follow in the Rose Hill cemetery in Ashburn.
Mr. Jackson passed away Tuesday at his residence following a lengthy illness.
The son of the late Wade Hampton and Thelma Louise Ambrose Jackson, he was a member of the Amboy Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Music Director, Former Sunday School and Training Union Teacher. He was retired Bookkeeper for the Turner Co. Board of Commissioners. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a longtime resident of Turner Co. before moving to Tifton 10 years ago.
Survivors include his wife, Ann McCurdy Jackson of Tifton; a sister in law, Margaret Sumner of Tifton; a niece Dr. Loraine Sumner of Macon and a large number of cousins. His special caregivers, Ruby Brown and Judie Cooper both of Tifton.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 till 9 at Perry Funeral chapel.
