Judy Dianne Arnett
CORDELE — Funeral services for Judy Dianne Arnett were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. The Rev. Billy Robertson conducted the service and Mrs. Arnett’s brother, Rickey McAfee gave the eulogy.
Ruth Cantrell, pianist, played soft music and accompanied the Gospel Echoes as they sang “Amazing Grace” and “He Touched Me.” A taped rendition of “We Had It All” was also played.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Owens, William Arnett, Tim Arnett, Greg Aultman, Todd Noyes and Shannon Aultman. Burial was in Cedar Creek cemetery in Crisp County.
Mrs. Arnett, 55, died at Crisp Regional Hospital Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005. She was born Sunday, Sept. 25, 1949, in Cordele and was the daughter of the late James Wiley McAfee and Bertice Lucille McAfee Thompson. She is survived by her husband, Tommy Arnett of Cordele; two daughters, Kimberly Vonier and Pam Hill, both of Cordele; two sons, Michael Arnett and Rusty Arnett and his wife Rhonda, all of Cordele; a brother and his wife, Rickey and Retha McAfee of Fayetteville, N.C.; a sister, Donna Garren of Montezuma; grandchildren, Will Vonier, Kayla Arnett, Samantha Kidd, Lakyn Arnett and Logan Arnett, all of Cordele, Zachary Hill of Cumming, and Megan Arnett of Cordele and her step-father, Leon Thompson of Oglethorpe. The family received friends at the funeral home Monday, Jan. 31, 2005 from 6-8 p.m
Marvin Lafay Young
CORDELE — Funeral services for Fay Young, 66, were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. The Rev. Ray Freeman conducted the service.
Soft music was provided by Marcene Freeman, pianist. Taped renditions of “Mansion Over The Hilltop” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain” were played during the service.
Pallbearers were Daniel Brown, Brad Jackson, Devin Fortson, Bo Duckworth, David Bellamy and Brandon Bellamy.
Burial was in Sunnyside Cemetery.
Lottie Mae Sutton
CORDELE — Funeral services for Lottie Mae Sutton were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, in the Chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. The Rev. Ray Sullivan officiated the services. Burial followed in Sunnyside Cemetery.
Marcene Freeman, pianist, provided soft music for the service. She also accompanied Rev. Royce Freeman and herself as they sang “Lily of The Valley", "In the Garden" and "Blessed Redeemer."
Pallbearers were Kerry Sutton, Korey Sutton, Jamie Davis, Gene Mixon, Jody Mixon and Keith Murphy.

Peggy Jane Casey
WINDER — The funeral service of Peggy Jan Casey, 58, of Winder, GA., who died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at Gwinnett Medical Center, will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Terry Hawkins will officiate. iIntermentwill follow in Riverside Cemetery.
A native of Americus, Mrs. Casey had resided in Winder for the past three years, moving there from Lawrenceville. She was retired from Bell South, a member of The Telephone Pioneers of America and the daughter of the late Roy W. and Helen Sinquefield Gladney. She was a member of Bethabra Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Casey of Winder; two daughters, Rhonda Burnett and Renee’ Knox both of Winder; five grandchildren, Christopher Ferrell, Casey Burnett, Mark Knox, Jr., Callie Knox and Allison Burnett all of Winder; two sisters, Sarilyn Beason of Aiken, SC, and Martha Waller of Chula; and a brother, David Gladney of Cordele.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
The family will be at the residence of Homer and Juanita Casey, 541 15th. Avenue, Albany, GA.

Lottie Mae Sutton
AMERICUS — Funeral services for Lottie Mae Sutton, 73, of Americus will be conducted today at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery.
Mrs. Sutton died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, at Sumter Regional Hospital.
She was a native of Crisp County, a member of the Cordele First Baptist Church and a retired Super 10 salesclerk. She was the wife of the late Ruby Brown "Sonny" Sutton, Jr. She was the daughter of the late Ottis Lawson Mixon and the late Zula Lottie Akridge Mixon.
Survivors include her sons: Dan Sutton of Americus and Billy Sutton of Vidalia; her daughter: Deborah Young of Americus; her brother: Winston Mixon of Cordele; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at the funeral home.

Thomas Clayton Keene
VIENNA — Funeral services for Thomas Clayton Keene, 55, will be held at 3 p.m. today in Smyrna Baptist Church. Rev. Jerry Jarrell will officiate and burial will follow in Pinehurst City Cemetery.
Tom was born in Ira, Virginia, on Dec. 4, 1949, and served as a Marine Corps pilot in the Vietnam War. He attended Smyrna Baptist Church and was a carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Keene of Vienna; one daughter, Shonda (Steve) Vidovich of Browns Summit, NC; his mother, Marie Keene of Clinton, NC; two sisters, Patricia Daughtry and Diane Keene, both of Clinton, NC; two brothers, Ronnie Keene of Greensboro, NC and Harrison Keene, Jr. of Winston-Salem, NC; and two grandchildren, Mason Vidovich and Danielle Vidovich.

Dorothy Rogers Adair
ASHBURN — Funeral services for Dorothy Rogers Adair, 87, will be held today at 11 a.m. at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Adair died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at Ashburn Health Care following an extended illness.
She was born in Dakota, Turner County, and was the daughter of the late Dr. Frank and Willie (Peedie) McGill Rogers. She had lived all of her life in Turner County. She was a lifelong member of the Ashburn First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the church choir. She was a member of the Ashburn Chapter of the Eastern Star. She was an active member of the Ashburn community. She was a retired teacher of the Turner County School System and retired after 38 years in 1973.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, James Cecil Adair of Ashburn. She was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyne Rogers Jackson and her husband, Justin; her godchild, Dianne Bacon, her husband, Ed and daughter, Helen of Ashburn.
Also surviving are Janice Cooke and husband Brian of Jacksonville, Fla and their sons Justin, Jeremy and wife Susan, Dorothy Ray and husband James of Gulfport, Miss. and their children Jim and wife Winnie of Salt Lake City, Utah and their children, Frank Ray and wife Kate of Rochester, Minn. and son Frank. Other survivors include David Ray and Claudia, Jan Peleaz and children of Gulfport, Miss., her sister-in-law Mildred Wiley of Eastanollee and her son Hendrix and Liz of Watkinsville and their children. Mary Adair and Tom Mullin of Cocoa beach, Fla and their children and Tim Pittman and children of Commerce are also survivors.

Charles Adam Schofill
FITZGERALD — Graveside services for Charles Adam Schofill, 56, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Mt. Olive cemetery in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Bobby Stone officiating.
Mr. Schofill died Sunday, January 30, 2005, at his residence.
Born June 8, 1948, in Cordele, he was the son of the late W.A. and Alma Thompson Schofill. A self-employed carpenter and mechanic, he lived in the community most of his life. Mr. Schofill was an avid fisherman and of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Schofill is survived by a daughter, Amber Schofill of Fitzgerald; two brothers, William T. “Bo” Schofill of Dawson and Virgil L. Schofill of Cordele; Five sisters, Laura Mashburn and Linda Drawdy, both of Albany, Patricia White of Hogansville, Faye Chitwood and Shirley Dill, both of Ocilla; and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Buddy Schofill and a sister, Frances Genelle Clark.
Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald is in charge of arrangements.
Gladys Goodman Lewis
CORDELE — Gladys Goodman Lewis, 83, of Cordele, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, in Crisp Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be today, Jan. 16, 2005, at 3 p.m. in Penia Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Lewis was a native of Crisp County, a resident of Blackshear Villas and member of Penia Baptist Church. She was the wife of the late Clinton Lewis. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ady Carlton and Mary Ester Goodman, and brothers, William R. Goodman and Earl Goodman.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and June Lewis of Cumming; her daughter and son-in-law, Gwen L. and Jerry Bush of Pinehurst; four grandchildren, Jason Lewis, Blake Lewis, Lee Bush and Jennifer (Brandon) York; a great granddaughter, Seaver York; and her sister, Leola Walls of Cordele.

Alvin M. McDuffie, Jr.
ROCHELLE — Alvin M. McDuffie, Jr., 75, of Rochelle, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 15 at the Pineview Health Care Nursing Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17 at Christian Hill Free Will Baptist Church. The Rev. Jimmy McDuffie will officiate. iIntermentwill be in the church cemetery.
Mr. McDuffie was born on August 14, 1929 in Wilcox County. He was the son of the late Alvin M. McDuffie and Ethel Adams McDuffie. He was retired from civil service from Robins Air Force Base. He was a member of Christian Hill Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Rochelle Masonic Lodge #190, where he received his 50 year membership pin in 2004. He was a Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by a son, Al McDuffie, in 1993.
Survivors include his wife, Nell McDuffie of Rochelle; one son, Steve McDuffie of Rochelle; one daughter, Nancy (Robert, Jr.) Graham Of Abbeville; one brother, Rev. Jimmy McDuffie of Ocilla; one sister, Mary Frances Brown of Abbeville, and four grandchildren.

Mary Smith Brown
CORDELE – Mary Smith Brown of Cordele, died at Wesley Woods Budd Terrace in Atlanta on Thursday, January 13, 2005.
Born Tuesday, April 10, 1923 in Ocilla, she was the daughter of the late James Colin and Mamie Huff Smith and the widow of Marcus Courtney Brown. She was a graduate of Georgia College at Milledgeville where she received a BS Degree in Business Administration. Mrs. Brown was the Crisp County Director (RET) of the Georgia Department of Family and Childrens Service where she was employed for 34 years. She also served on the Advisory Board after her retirement. She was a member of Cordele First United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Funeral services will be held at Cordele First United Methodist Church Sunday, January 16, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. iIntermentwill follow at Sunnyside Cemetery. She is survived by three sisters, Virginia Boland of Decatur, her twin sister and her husband, Elizabeth and William B. Stalvey of Roswell and Ruth Smith of! Atlanta; nephews, Gary Stalvey and his wife, Pam, and Billy Stalvey; a niece, Jeanne Boland and two great-nieces, Emily and Allison Stalvey; a great-nephew, Chet Knight and a great-great-nephew, Bretton Knight. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Brown.

ARABI – On Friday, January 14, 2005, God called Lithia Lavenia Spires home. Mrs. Spires, 88, of Arabi died at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele. She was born Monday, March 13, 1916 Worth County and was the daughter of the late William Henry and Henrietta Anderson Byrd and the widow of Thomas Jackson Spires. She was a member of Haw Pond Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at Rainey Family Funeral Services Monday, January 17, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. iIntermentwill follow at Bay Spring cemetery in Crisp County. She is survived by a son and his wife, Rev.
