Terry George Brooks
Graveside services for Terry George Brooks of Milan, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18 at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The Rev. Ralph Horne officiated.
Brooks, 49, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004. He was born in Laurens County.
Survivors include his daughter, Shelly Ann Howard of Dublin; one sister, Christine Wood of Dublin; three brothers, Edgar Brooks of McRae, Nelson and Seburn Brooks, both of Dublin.
Lowe’s Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of arrangements.
Doris Overstreet Hester
Services for Doris Overstreet Hester of McRae, were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 17 in the chapel of Lowe’s Funeral Home with interment in Telfair Memorial Gardens.
The Rev. Lawton Sammons and Dr. Billy Lee officiated.
Hester, 66, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004. Born in Jeff Davis County, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Pearl McLeod Overstreet. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Dodge County and was retired from the Telfair County Tax Commissioner’s Office. She was married to Horace Hester.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Alan Berry of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brothers, Joe Overstreet of Alma and Roy Overstreet of Dunwoody; sister, Saralyn Overstreet of Hazlehurst; and one granddaughter, Madison P. Berry of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Lowe’s Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of arrangements.
Aaron Hicks
Services for Aaron Hicks of Lumber City, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14 at the Full Gospel Church of God in Lumber City with interment in Green Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The Rev. William Hollis officiated.
Hicks, 77, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004 at Fairview Park Hospital. He was the son of the late Sherman Hick and Viola Brown of McRae and was the widower of Emma Hicks. Two brothers, Moses and Nathaniel McRae preceded him in death.
Born in Tampa, Fla., he retired from Champion International Corp. of Lumber City after 17 years of service.
Survivors include his children, Nancy Conaway of Knoxville, Tenn., Claretha Jordan of Warner Robins, Aaron Hicks of Lumber City, Carl and Emma Hicks of Lumber City, Shirley McRae of Hazlehurst, Quin Hicks of Jacksonville, Fla., Carolyn White of Hazlehurst, Jeffery Hicks of Atlanta, Michael McRae and Milton McRae, both of Hazlehurst, Angela Faye Russell of Baxley and the Rev. Marvin McRae of Augusta; two sisters, Bernice Tomblin of New York and Jeanelle Norwood of Warner Robins; brothers, Artis McRae of South Carolina, Willie McRae, Clarence and Robert McRae, both of New York; 25 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
A.L. Spaulding Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.
Bessie Stuckey Ryals
Services for Bessie Stuckey Ryals of Rhine, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23 in Rhine Baptist Church with interment in Bay Springs Cemetery.
Ryals, 77, died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004 in Dodge County Hospital. She was the daughter of the late John Oscar Stuckey and Annie Rebecca McCranie Stuckey and was married to Tommy Ryals of Rhine.
She was a lifelong resident of Dodge County, a member of Rhine Baptist Church and was retired from the Rhine Elementary School after 30 years of service.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her daughter, Pam Peavey of Hawkinsville; son, Tommy Barron of Conyers; sisters, Annie Laurie Maloy of Albany and Mary Ida Addison of Abbeville; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home of Eastman is in charge of arrangements.
John Edward “Edd” Snuggs
Graveside services for John Edward “Edd” Snuggs of McRae, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19 at Telfair Memorial Gardens in McRae.
The Rev. Robert Bean and the Rev. Bill McKinnon officiated.
Snuggs, 79, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004. He was married to Hazel Snuggs of McRae.
Born in Holmes County, Fla., he has resided in McRae for many years. He was a WWII veteran of five campaigns, retired from the Southern Railway after 35 years of service and was a mason.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his sons, Robbie Snuggs of Berkeley, Calf. and Ronnie Snuggs of Augusta; two sisters and two brothers.
Memorials may be made to McRae Presbyterian Church, College St., McRae.

Sara Burkhalter Williams
Memorial services for Sara Burkhalter Williams of East Point, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21 at the East Point Presbyterian Church with interment at 1 p.m. in the Spring Hill Cemetery Wednesday, Sept. 22.
She was born in Spring Hill but had resided in East Point since 1961. She taught school in the Fulton County school system for more than 30 years, was a member of the East Point Presbyterian Church and was married to George L. Williams Jr. She was preceded in death by a sister, Christine Burkhalter Pitts and a brother, Jeff Burkhalter.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her sons, George L. Williams III of Fort Pierce, Fla., Craig J. Williams of Columbus, and Tom Williams of Tucker; daughter, Jennie Williams Dodge of Atlanta; and eight grandchildren.
Lowe’s Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of local arrangements.
Cliffola Morrison Browning
Services for Cliffola Morrison Browning of Glenwood were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1 at Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Glenwood Chapel with interment in Glenwood City Cemetery.
The Rev. Connie Walker and the Rev. Jimmy Gilbert and Cheryl Faulk officiated.
Browning, 98, died Saturday, Oct. 30 in Tifton after an extended illness. She was the widow of Robert Lee Browning. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Clifton (Tip) Taylor; two son-in-laws, Howard Doss and L.B. Chambers.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Wheeler County, a retired clerk and bookkeeper with Brown Ford Company of McRae, Firestone in McRae and retired from Martin Furniture Company in Milan. She was a very faithful and active member of the Glenwood United Methodist Church and the Ladies Fellowship Sunday school class. She taught Sunday school and played the piano for many years.
Survivors include her daughters and son-in-laws, Jeanette Chambers of Lake Sinclair, Sarah Doss of Tifton, Catherine and Harold Cravey of Milan and Willie Jay Taylor of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren and spouses, Grady Doss, Glen and Phyllis Doss, Robert and Deborah Chambers, Susan and Darrell Sammons, Belinda and Franklin Brantley, Dorcas and Randy Christian, Cheryl and Dan Faulk; great-grandchildren, Kasey Painter, Katie Chambers, Suzanne Conley, Edward Sammons, Claire Doss, Marlissa Doss, Luke Christian, Dory Christian, Jason Brantley and Rodney Brantley; great-great-grandchildren, Anna and Taylor Conley; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service of Glenwood Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Bertha Yeomans King
Services for Bertha Yeomans King of Eastman were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29 in Southerland Funeral Chapel with interment in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
The Rev. Fred Parker and the Rev. Wayne McDaniel officiated.
King, 81, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004 in Northside Hospital in Macon. She was the daughter of the late A.J. Yeomans and Lessie Brannan Yeomans and the widow of E.C. King. A native of Telfair County, she was a homemaker and attended Antioch #1 Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Elizabeth K. Dunn and Bonnie K. Turner, both of Eastman and Helen K. Brown of Macon; sons, Dwayne King of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Randy King of Eastman; sister, Vera Lee Brewer of Eastman; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Robert Hughey Brewer
Services for Robert Hughey Brewer of Hazlehurst was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23 in the Chapel of Miles Funeral Home with interment in the Riverside Cemetery in Lumber City.
The Rev. Keith Yawn and Brother Don Roberts officiated.
Brewer, 89, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004 in the Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins. He was the son of the late Charles Arthur and Aliff Powell Brewer and was married to Addis Clark Brewer of Bonaire.
A native of Telfair County he was a World War II Veteran and was a retired aircraft mechanic from Robins Air Force Base.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughter, Diane Pope Ison; son, Robert Charles Brewer and three grandchildren.
Miles Funeral Home of Hazlehurst was in charge of arrangements.
Dewey Edison ‘Jimmy’ Cravey
Services for Dewey Edison “Jimmy” Cravey of Alamo were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24 at the Wheeler County High School Gym with interment in the Helena City Cemetery.
The Rev. Steve Frazier and the Rev. Donnie Swanson officiated.
Cravey, 66, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004. He was the son of Gertrude Cravey the late Herman Dewey Cravey and was married to Patricia Tribble Cravey of Alamo.
A native of Wheeler County, he was retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Administration. He was chairman of Wheeler County Board of Education for 26 years, served on Board of Directors for the Heart of Georgia Technical College, member of Southside Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and treasurer.
In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include his daughter, Jill Cravey of Alamo; sons, Paul Cravey of Oahu, Hawaii, Kirk Cravey of Alamo and Kip Cravey of Eastman; brother, Milton Cravey of Alamo; three grandchildren.
