ABBEVILLE — Raymond H. Peavy, beloved husband and father, 82, of Abbeville died Monday Dec. 27, 2004, in the Coliseum Medical Centers in Macon. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, in the Abbeville First Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Faircloth and the Rev. Tim Hill will officiate. Burial will be in the Friendship cemetery in Pulaski County.
Visitation will be held today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Frazier & Son Funeral Home in Rochelle has charge of arrangements.
Addie Kitchens Jones
AMERICUS — Funeral services for Addie Kitchens Jones, 91, of Americus will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at Cheek Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Houston Berry officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Jones died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004, at her residence.
She was born March 4, 1913 and was the daughter of the late Virgil Calvin Kitchens Sr. and the late Jessie Clark Kitchens in Houston County. She was a graduate of Georgia Southwestern College. She was a registered nurse for the Georgia Department of Health until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of Cheek Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors includes two daughters and son-in-law Laverne Pringle, Sue Bivins and Stanley Bivins of Americus; four sons and daughter-in-laws Horace “Buddy” Summerlin, David W. Summerlin and Wynell, Joel Steve Summerlin and Donald Summerlin and Sandra all of Americus; two sisters and a brother-in-law Jewel Turk of Pineview, and Edna Bobo and Quinton of Cordele; also surviving is 17 grandchildren, Michael “Mike” Calies, Stanley Bivins Jr., Bruce Bivins, Sharon McFather, Walter Bivins, Roger Bivins, Marnie Eason, Steve Summerlin II, Eva Marie Albritton, Becky Licona, Dawn Busbee, Javonne Spence, David Summerlin Jr., Lisa Summerlin, Vicki Holmes, Marc Morris and Lisa Higley; 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Jones; a daughter, Doris Summerlin; and two sisters, Annie Willie Coker and Fannie Mae Holloway and four brothers, Roy Kitchen, Marvin Kitchens, Woodrow Kitchens and Junior Kitchens.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at Aldridge Funeral Services and other times at residence 441 Georgia Highway 49 North.

CORDELE — Funeral services for Evangelist Mary Merrell will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, in the A.S. Clark Elementary School Auditorium. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Pastor Andrew Walker will officiate the services.
Mrs. Merrell died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004.

A.M. ‘Coon’ Helms
CORDELE — A.M. “Coon” Helms, 80 of Cordele died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, at Crisp Regional Hospital.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired maintenance engineer and a member of Peavy Memorial United Methodist Church. Mr. Helms was the son of the late Deason Isom Helms and the late Hester Lorene Parr Helms.
He is survived by his wife, Inez (Suggs) Helms; a daughter and son-in-law, Clarice and Ronald Bailey of Federal Way, Wash.; a son and daughter-in-law, Chester Ethane and Cheryl V. Helms of Middletown, R.I.; two sisters, Lora Thompson of Cordele, and Viola Royal of Arabi; and a granddaughter, Cassie Helms of Middletown, R.I.
Arrangements are being handled by Rainey Family Funeral Services of Cordele where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 25, 2004.
Funeral service will be in the chapel of Rainey Funeral Services at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004. iIntermentwill be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
Odessa Paulk Spires
CORDELE — Mrs. Odessa Paulk Spires, 81, of Cordele died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004, in North Broward Hospital in Pompano Beach, Fla.
A native of Coffee County, Mrs. Spires was born Oct. 20, 1923, the daughter of the late Homer and Ethel Baisden Paulk. She was a retired nursing assistant.
Survivors include daughters, Ethel Parks and son-in-law James Parks, Lighthouse Point Fla., Jeanette Jones and husband, R. L. Jones, Cordele; sisters, Nellie Lindsey and Geraldine Paulk, Douglas, and Carolyn Mancil, Nicholls; brother, Curtis Spires; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at Sims Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Japuntich officiating.
Soloist, Samuel Watson sang “Mama’s Prayer”, “Go Rest High On That Mountain” and “I’m Changing Houses.” Also the congregation sang, “Amazing Grace” accompanied by Lois Mills, pianist.
Burial followed in the Salem Church cemetery near Douglas Georgia.
Active pallbearers were Jeff Lindsey, Jason Mancil, Mark Mancil, David Lindsey, Jimmy Robert Sears and Lindsey Wolfe.

Timothy Ray Dennard Sr.

Mr. Dennard died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at his farm in Ben Hill County near Rebecca.

Mr. Lewis died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004.

Florene Lamunda
HAPEVILLE — Funeral services for Emily Florene Bradley Lamunda, 86, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Atlanta. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park.
Mrs. Lamunda died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Born June 16, 1918, in Bonita, La., she met and married
her husband of almost 63 years in Little Rock, Ark. After military service, they and their two girls settled in Hapeville in 1952. Her husband, children and grandchildren were a vital part of her life. She was an active member of the Hapeville Service League and Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Jay Lamunda; children, Betty Jo Copelan and Jayne and Ed Hudson; grandchildren, Jeff and Gwen Copelan, David and Melinda Copelan, Jay and Beverly Copelan, Keri and Calvin Reykdal, Jenny and Darran Edwards and Michael and Stacy Copelan; and great-grandchildren, Alye, Megan, Christopher, Rachel and Sara Katherine Copelan.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Donehoo-Lewis Funeral Home, 736 S. Central Ave., Hapeville. Also, the family will hold a reception after the graveside service at 4:30 p.m. at the family home in Hapeville.
