VIENNA — Graveside services for Lee Johns, 69, of Vienna will be held at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 5, 2004, at Waters cemetery in Steinhatchee, Fl.

Johns died Friday, Dec. 3 at his residence.

Brannen-Nesmith Funeral Home of Vienna has charge of arrangements.

Herman Black

TIFTON — Funeral services for Herman Black of 2411 Chula-Brookfield Rd Tifton will be held at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 5, 2005 at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Black died Friday, Dec. 3 at his residence.

Perry Funeral Chapel, Inc. has charge of arrangements.

Rudolph Henderson

ABBEVILLE — Funeral services for Rudolph Henderson, 83, of Abbeville were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, in the M.G. Frazier Memorial Chapel of Frazier & Sons Funeral Home. Burial was held the Bethlehem cemetery in Ben Hill County. The Rev. Tim Hill and Rev. Chuck Taylor officiated.

Henderson died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at his residence.

Frazier & Sons Funeral Home in Rochelle had charge of arrangements.

Ruby Thompson Youngblood

CORDELE — Funeral service for Ruby Thompson Youngblood, 93, of Cordele will be at Chapel Of Rainey Funeral Services at 2 PM Monday, Dec. 6, 2004. Burial will follow at Sunnyside cemetery in Cordele.

Mrs. Thompson died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at Pinehill Nursing Home in Byromville.

Mrs. Youngblood was retired from the Cordele Uniform Company as a seamstress. She was the daughter of the late Grace Laney Thompson and Edward Thompson.

She is survived by her son and daughter in law Harold and Janette Youngblood of Cordele, a brother Roy Thompson of Plains, grandson David Youngblood of McDonough and grandson and wife Keith and Angelique Youngblood, Great-grandchildren Lindsey and Allison Youngblood all of Cordele.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today.

Arrangements are being handled by Rainey Family Funeral Services, Inc.

Emmie A. McGlamry

PITTS — Graveside services for Emmie A. McGlamry, 86, of Pitts will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at Pleasant View Cemetery. The Rev. Tommy Brett will officiate.

Mrs. McGlamry died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at Crisp Regional Hospital.

Mrs. McGlamry was born in Heard county on August 24, 1918. she had lived the greater part of her life in Wilcox County. She was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Hunt and Martha Susan McDowell Hunt. She was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Neil “Hubert” McGlamry, and a son, Mike McGlamry.

She is survived by four sons, Robert Neal McGlamry of Vienna, Ronald E. (Nell) McGlamry of Eastman, Harry T. (Linda Sue) McGlamry of Pitts, and David H. (Jamie) McGlamry of Pitts; a daughter, Jamie (Royce) Rhodes of Pitts; a sister, Corene Davidson of Pitts; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today at Frazier & Sons Funeral Home.

The family may be contacted at the McGlamry residence at 1537 Cardinal Rd., Pitts.

Frazier & Sons Funeral Home in Rochelle has charge of arrangements.

Larry Taylor

UNADILLA — Funeral services for Larry Taylor will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at Brown Chapel Baptist Church. The Rev. Andrew Brown will officiate the services.

Mr. Taylor died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004.

Survivors include his children, Larry Taylor Jr. of Atlanta, and Arlisia Taylor of Vienna; five sisters, Ruthie Whitaker of Atlanta, Jeannette Taylor, Teresa Taylor and Patsy Taylor all of Unadilla, and Dora (Kenneth) Williams of Elko; five brothers, Clifford (Gwendolyn) Taylor of Unadilla, Rev. Robert (Rosa) Taylor of Fitzgerald, Edward Taylor of St. Petersburg, Fla., Milton Taylor of Warner Robins and Stevie Taylor of Cordele; one aunt, Minnie Wheeler of Perry; one uncle, Grady Taylor of Unadilla; one grandchild, Jacqueline Hosley; and special friends, Ricky Smith, Tim Hicks, Sylvester Quarterman, Melvin Bowen and Tony Woodard.

J.W. Williams Funeral Directors of Cordele and Vienna has charge of the arrangements.

Joseph Thomas Turner

ORLANDO, Fla. — Funeral services for Joseph Thomas Turner of Orlando, formerly of Byromville, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at Bethlehem Baptist Church. The Rev. Carlton Martin will officiate the services. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Church Cemetery.

Mr. Turner died November 25, 2004.

Born in Dooling, he attended Union Academy and played baseball with the Negro Baseball League. He was married to the late Rosa Lee Smith for 52 years. He lived in Roselle, N.J., for 63 years and retired from Singer Manufacturing Company after 37 years of service. While with Singer, he was the vice president of their 8, 000-member union. He was elected into the Union County Baseball Hall of Fame and was a 63-year-plus member, deacon and trustee of Union Baptist Church in Elizabeth, N.J. After retiring to Orlando, he joined Shiloh Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, the late Lafayette T. Turner.

Survivors include his children, Elnora Boston of Detroit, Mich., Freda T. Morris of Burbank, Calif., and Edward J. Turner of Orlando, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Deacon Army (Bertha) Lester of Byromville; a sister-in-law, Alberta (Deacon Henry) King of Cordele; and a host of other relatives and friends.

J.W. Williams Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

Joe Farmer

UNADILLA — Graveside services for Joe Farmer, 69, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Walnut cemetery in Unadilla. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Unadilla has charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Farmer died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, in a Perry hospital.

V.C. Hilliard

WARWICK — Funeral services for V.C. Hilliard, 91, of Warwick will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Rhine Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004 at 11a.m. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Hilliard died at his residence Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004.

Born on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1913 in Dodge County, he was the son of the late Samuel Lee Hilliard and Annie Lee Brown Hilliard. He was retired from the retail grocery business having owned and operated Hilliard's Grocery in Rhine for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Flanders Hilliard of Warwick; two sons and their wives, Cliff and Jennie Hilliard of Warwick and Van and Sue Hilliard of Dacula; a brother, Roy Hilliard of Abbeville; a sister, Nell Williams of Rhine; a granddaughter and her husband, Amy and Bob Arch of Cherokee, N.C. and grandsons, Samuel Jacob Hilliard of Warwick, and Wesley Hilliard of Dacula. He was preceded in death by brothers, Stan Hilliard, Tal Hilliard, Archie Hilliard, Sam Hilliard, Jr. and Ray Hilliard.

The family will receive friends at Rainey Family Funeral Services, Inc. on today from 6 until 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 until the hour of the service.

Roger Thomas Stubbs

CORDELE — Funeral services for Roger Thomas Stubbs, 61, of Cordele will be held at Union Baptist Church today at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Seville Cemetery.

Stubbs died at Tift General Hospital in Tifton, Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004.

Born Friday, Apr. 16, 1943 in West Palm Beach, Fla., he was the son of the late Henry Livingston Stubbs and Ella Jane Howle Stubbs. He was employed by Georgia Pacific as a Purchasing Agent and a member of the Union Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Brenda Burnette Stubbs of Cordele; a daughter and son-in-law, Kristy and Brad Henderson of Savannah; a brother, Marvin Stubbs of Windsor, Ca.; and a granddaughter, Audrey Grace Henderson of Savannah. The family requests that memorials be made to Union Baptist Church Youth Ministry. Arrangements by Rainey Family Funeral Services, Inc.

Charles Crisp Fulghum Jr.

ABBEVILLE — Funeral services for Charles Crisp Fulghum Jr., 87, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 2, 2004, in the Abbeville First Baptist Church. The Revs. Tim Hill and Jim Faircloth will officiate the services. Burial will follow in Stubbs Cemetery.

Mr. Fulghum died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, following a brief illness.

Born Jan. 7, 1917, he was the son of the late Charles Crisp Fulghum Sr. and Myrtle Bowen Fulghum. After graduating from Abbeville High School, he earned a bachelor of arts degree in business administration from Mercer University in 1937, and was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

Mr. Fulghum served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a lieutenant in the Naval Supply Corps. Much of his service time was spent in the Phillipines on the island of Samar. After returning to Abbeville following his military service, he resumed the operation of the Fulghum Company Farm Supply Store and the Farmer’s Gin Company and Warehouse. He served as Postmaster in Abbeville from 1956-1983.

Mr. Fulghum was a lifelong member of Abbeville First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for more than 60 years and Sunday School Superintendent for 25 years. He was a member of the Brotherhood, Adult Choir and Men’s Sunday School Class. He also was a charter member of the Abbeville Lions Club and served on the Wilcox County Library Board for many years. He was widely known as an avid historian, especially local and Civil War history.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Gladine Culpepper Fulghum of Abbeville; a daughter and son-in-law, Edie and Clark Beusse of Dawsonville; a grandson, Charles Beusse of Dawsonville; a granddaughter, Emily Beusse of Dawsonville; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Abbeville First Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Jack Hammond, 10662 Highway 129, Abbeville, Ga., 31001.

Samuel Ulysses Collins

CORDELE — Graveside services for Samuel Ulysses Collins were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at Arabi Cemetery. The Revs. James Spires and Tim Clark conducted the service and Rainey Family Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.

Buford Calhoun sang “Amazing Grace” and “O Come Angel Band” a cappella. The Rev. Danny Ray gave the closing prayer.

Pallbearers were Chad Wadford, Ken Hauesler, Jim Collins, Phil West, James Pate and Vernon Smith.

James Smith, Hewlett Hauesler, George Hauesler, John Holloway, Marvin Helms, Gerald Calhoun, Tom Weeks, David Freeman, Joe Collins, Clarence Cross and Wayne Moore served as honorary pallbearers.

Benjamin Scott Malpass

CORDELE — Graveside services for Benjamin Scott Malpass were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at Sunnyside Cemetery. The Rev. Teddy Hubbard conducted the service and Rainey Family Funeral Services was in charge of the arrangements.

Rev. Hubbard played the guitar as he and Judy Hubbard sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain.”
