CORDELE — Funeral services for Tommy Melvin Griffin were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. The Rev. Eve Tomberlin and the Rev. Jan Conner conducted the service.
Jill B. Gibbs, pianist, played “How Great Thou Art” as the prelude and accompanied Vicky Cape as they sang “Sweet, Sweet Spirit.” She also accompanied the congregation as they sang “Amazing Grace” and played “The Battle Hymn Of The Republic” as the postlude.
Pallbearers were Christopher Cape, Michael Griffin, James Woodward, Sonny Sangster, John Causey and Charles Stephens.
iIntermentwas in Sunnyside Cemetery. The service closed with “Taps.”
Cindy Renee Wilkinson
CORDELE — A graveside service for Cindy Renee Wilkinson, 36, was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, at Cedar Creek cemetery in Crisp County. The Rev.. Tim Clark conducted the service.
Mrs. Wilkinson died at Crisp Regional Hospital Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004.

Thelma Marie Pearce
CORDELE — Funeral services for Thelma Marie Pearce, 90, were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at Union Presbyterian Church in Scottsville, N.Y. Pastor Jane Bender conducted the service. iIntermentwas in Oatka Cemetery.
Mrs. Pearce died at Crisp Regional Hospital Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004. Born Sunday, Nov. 16, 1913, in Buffalo, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late John Leroy Bradfield and Edna Anna Josephine Lange Bradfield and the widow of Ralph Benjamin Pearce, Jr. Mrs. Pearce was a past member of Gates-Chili Women’s Auxiliary, Scottsville Women’s Auxiliary, Monroe County Fire Exempts and the Wheatland Senior Citizens Group. She was also a volunteer at the Danforth Center in Rochester, N.Y. and Pali Momi in Hawaii.
She is survived by her children, Judy Pearce of Pearl City, Hawaii, Richard Pearce and his wife, Ruth Ann of Rochester, N.Y. and Nancy Peck and her husband, Chet of Cordele; grandchildren, Timothy Pearce and wife, Connie, and Todd Pearce and wife, Tracy, all of Rochester, N.Y. and Karri Ann Newman and husband, Chris of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and five great-grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Scottsville Fire Department in Scottsville, N.Y. 14546. Local arrangements are being handled by Rainey Family Funeral Services, Inc.

CORDELE — A memorial service for Annie Louise Brewer, 59, was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Service. Leo Pouliot conducted the service. Bobby Usry, soloist, sang “Sheltered In The Arms Of God.” iIntermentwas in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Americus.
Mrs. Brewer died at her residence Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004.

Ernest Andrew Stilwell, Sr.
CORDELE — A graveside service for Ernest Andrew Stilwell, Sr. was held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Danny Stilwell conducted the service. A taped rendition of “Angel” was played.
Mr. Stilwell, 70, died at Crisp Regional Hospital Friday, Nov. 5, 2004. He was born Saturday, April 28, 1934, in Turner County and was the son of the late Virgil Clarence Stilwell and Martha Jemima Kennedy Stilwell. He was a farmer and a member of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by two daughters, Tina Peavy of Cordele and Barbara Newman of Brewton, Ala.; two sons, J. C. Stilwell and Andrew Stilwell, both of Cordele; two brothers, Albert Stilwell of Arabi and Milton Stilwell of Lakeland, Fla.; three sisters, Louise Pate of Lakeland, Fla., Bertha Arnett of Cordele, and Ann Sills of Cusseta; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Stilwell.
The family received friends at the funeral home Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, from 2 p.m. until time for the service.

Catherine Rose ‘Katie’ Allen
CORDELE — Funeral services for Catherine R. “Katie” Allen were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at Cordele First Baptist Church. Dr. John G. Smith, III conducted the service.
The eulogy was given by Ed Northrop. Organist, Beth Watson, played soft music. Billy White, soloist, sang “I Can Only Imagine” and “Sweet Beulah Land". Mrs. Watson accompanied Mr. White as he sang “The Lord’s Prayer” at the close of the service.
Pallbearers were M.H. Allen, Danny Spires, Brent Northrop, Todd Northrop, R.C. Chatting and Leonard Fletcher.

Russ Harris Jones
CORDELE -- Memorial services for Russ Harris Jones, 83, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at Christ Episcopal Church.
Mr. Jones died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at his residence.
A native of Crisp County, he was a retired pharmacist and member of Christ Episcopal Church. He volunteered for the Crisp Regional Hospital Auxiliary for many years and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy M. Jones of Cordele; two sons, Dr. Edd Jones of Fitzgerald, and Guy M. Jones of Montgomery, Ala.; a daughter, Nancy J. Dupree of Red Hill, Ala.; a sister, Fran Beamer of Naples, Fla.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, 408 S. First St., Cordele, Ga., 31015 or Crisp Regional Hospice, 906 N. Fifth St., Cordele, Ga., 31015.

ASHBURN -- Funeral services for Edna Kennedy Ward, 79, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, in the Ashburn First Baptist Church. Burial followed in Rose Hill Cemetery. Perry Funeral Chapel of Ashburn had charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Ward died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, in the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon from injuries sustained in an automobile crash.
Dana Ellen Andrews
ROCHELLE -- Graveside services for Dana Ellen Andrews, 40, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at Morningside Cemetery. The Rev. Jim Tillery and Brother Louie Tripp will officiate the services, directed by Frazier & Son Funeral Home.
Mrs. Andrews died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004.

ASHBURN -- Funeral services for Estele S. Guy, 78, of Ashburn will be held Tuesday, Nov. 2 2004 at 11 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church in Tift County. iIntermentwill follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Guy passed away Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at her residence after an extended illness.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-9 p.m. at Perry Funeral Chapel.
Debra Onita Kendrick Adams
UNADILLA -- Funeral services for Debra Onita Kendrick Adams of Unadilla will be held Monday at 3 p.m. in the Little Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Byromville. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Montezuma. Rev. Lee Willie Hall will officiate.
Ms. Adams died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004 at her residence. She attended Dooly County Schools and was previously employed at Lanier Manufacturing Company.
Survivors include her husband, John Adams, a daughter, Onita C. Adams, her mother, Constance Spicer Kendrick, a brother, Johnny Pate Kendrick, Jr (wife, Cynthia) all of Unadilla, a sister, Beverly D. Hunt (husband, David) of Philadelphia, Pa., Mother-in-law, Catherine Lewis of Byromville, and a host of relatives.

Alexia Shamiyah Merrell
Alexia Shamiyah Merrell, age 6 of Vienna, died Friday, Oct. 29 at the Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele.

Catherine R. ‘Katie’ Allen
CORDELE — Catherine R. “Katie” Allen, 72, of Cordele died in Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany on Monday, Nov. 1, 2004.
Born Saturday, March 26, 1932, in Sault Sainte Marie, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Albert Massey and Jane Isabell O'Neil Massey. Mrs. Allen was a member of Cordele First Baptist Church and was retired as manager of Burger King. She was an Elder of the Chippewa Indian Tribe in Sault Sainte Marie, Mich.
Funeral services will be held at Cordele First Baptist Church Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at 3 p.m. and interment will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Hoover Allen of Cordele; two sons and daughters-in-law, John S. and Monica Allen, and Mark and Nannette Allen of Cordele; a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Bobby McGinnis of Cordele; four brothers, Albert Massey of Austin, Texas, Buck Massey of Engadine, Mich., Robert Massey of Phoenix, Ariz., and John Massey of Sault Sainte Marie, Mich.; three sisters, Verna Lawrence of Sault Sainte Marie, Mich., and Mary Formolo and Evie Heldt both of Naubinway, Mich. She was preceded in death by a son, Henry Robert Allen.
The family will receive friends at Rainey Family Funeral Services Inc. today from 7-9 p.m.

John W. Wright
PERRY — John W. Wright, 71, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004.
Funeral services wil be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, in Watson-Hunt Chapel with interment following at Perry Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Wright was the son of the late Jasper and Jurrell (Walls) Wright. He was born in Greene County where he attended school and Walker Methodist Church. After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, he worked for the FBI for several years before joining the Georgia State Patrol in 1960. Survivors include his wife, Janette Moon Wright; daughters, Sarah Wright (Glen) Musselwhite of Warner Robins, and Yvonne Wright Williams of Cordele; sons, John Christopher Wright of Greensboro, and Joseph Thomas (Sherry) Wright of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Wendy Musselwhite (Ben) Purvis of Perry, Sarah Elizabeth Williams of Athens, Mary Jeff Williams (Lance) Richards of Cordele, and Cody Wright of Warner Robins; step-children, Walt (Teddie) Lay of Conyers, Terry Lay Murphy of Snellville, and Jimmy Lay of Atlanta; and great-grandchildren, Bristol Purvis of Perry, and Alex Miller of Covington.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Sarah Mullins Wright; and a grandson, Brian Musselwhite.
The family requests donations be made to the donor’s church or favorite charity.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
