Jamie Bernard Lawrence Sr.
DOUGLASVILLE — Funeral services for Jamie Bernard Lawrence Sr., formerly of Cordele, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, in the sanctuary of the Greater Morris Tabernacle Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery. Evangelist Scarlet Webb will give the eulogy and the Rev. Isaac H. Owens will officiate the services.
Mr. Lawrence died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006.
The processional will be led by Rev. Owens and the Greater Morris Tabernacle Church Choir will render music. Prayer will be given by Rev. Owens and Scripture will be read by Evangelist Webb. Bessie Thornton will perform a solo and reflections will be given by family members and friends. A solo will be performed by Evangelist Webb and the family will be presented with an African-American heirloom Bible as a keepsake from the funeral home staff.
Survivors include a son, Jamie Bernard (Michelle) Lawrence Jr. of Douglasville; his mother, Willie Mae Lawrence of Albany; sisters, Gwendolyn Dent and Mary Martin both of Albany; a grandson, Jamie Bernard Lawrence III of Douglasville; nieces, Stephanie, Rachel, Lori, Amber, Jaquerian and Gwendolyn; cousins, Jasmine, Cori, Isaiah and Jonathan; and many other relatives and friends.

Charles Allen ‘Chuck’ Gray
CORDELE — Funeral services will be held for Charles Allen “Chuck” Gray at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. today.
Mr. Gray died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at his residence.
Born in Sumter County, he was son of George Gray and the late Opal Lynch Gray. He grew up in Cordele and lived in Panama City Beach, Fla., for 25 years until moving back to Cordele in June 2005. A floor tile installer, Mr. Gray was a member of the Morningside Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Dukes Gray of Cordele; his father, George Gray of Cordele; step-children, Jonathan Jones and Shana Ward both of Panama City, Fla.; sisters, Connie Shadeed of Jacksonville, N.C., and Rita Gray of Cordele.
The family suggests donations be made to the Morningside Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.

Edwene Jones Boston
VIENNA — Funeral services for Edwene Jones Boston, 50, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, in St. Mark Baptist Church in Vienna. Burial will follow in the Vienna City Cemetery. The Rev. Leonard Boston will officiate the services.
Mrs. Boston died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, at her residence.
A native of Dooly County, she was the daughter of the late A.C. Collier, Florene Collier and Nig Lewis. She was a 1973 graduate of Dooly County High School and had worked as a custodian for the Dooly County School System.
Survivors include her husband, Julius E. Boston Sr. of Vienna; five children, Petronia (Cedrick) Jones, Kikinda (Sheena) Jones boston, Julius E. (Aisha) Boston Jr., Bernard Boston and Michael (Tanisha) Boston all of Vienna; three brothers, Wayne Anderson, Larry Hooks and Kenneth (Johnnie Mae) Jones all of Vienna; one sister, Laura Grace of Vienna; five grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

ROCHELLE — Funeral services for Anthony C. Sheard, 42, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, in Evergreen Baptist Church in Rochelle. Burial will follow in Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Butch Dupree and Pastor Doris Coney will officiate the services, directed by Ferguson Funeral Home of Rochelle. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Sheard died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006.
Robert T. Neal Jr.
CORDELE — A memorial service and a time of remembrance by family and friends for Robert Tooke “Bob” Neal Jr. will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at Sunnyside cemetery in Cordele. Rainey Family Funeral Service of Cordele has charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Neal died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, in Savannah.
Mattie Lucy Cooper Reynolds
ARABI — Funeral services were held for Mattie Lucy Cooper Reynolds at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, in the Arabi Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Arabi Cemetery. The Revs. Jerry Jarrell and Ray Burnette officiated the services and Mrs. Reynolds’ husband, Emmett, closed the service with personal remarks.
Tammy Gibbs, pianist, accompanied Gerry Hogan as she sang “How Great Thou Art.”
Serving as pallbearers were her grandsons, Matt Morrison, Michael Morrison, Mitchell Morrison, John Tomlinson, Van Tomlinson, and nephews, Mack McKinney, Ralph Walls and Rick Reynolds.
Mrs. Reynolds was born Sept. 27, 1927, in Turner County, the daughter of the late Edith Lucille McLendon Cooper and the late Alton Greer Cooper. A daughter, Jane Reynolds Tomlinson, preceded her in death. She was a member of the Cordele Garden Club and Arabi Baptist Church, where she had served in the past as pianist. She was also a member of the UMW. She was a retired bookkeeper and a retired salesperson with Belk.
Surviving Mrs. Reynolds is her husband, H. Emmett Reynolds of Arabi; a son, Harold E. Reynolds of Arabi, and his wife, Gail; a daughter, Ann R. Morrison of Ashburn, and her husband, Robley; a son-in-law, Don Tomlinson of Asheville, N.C.; sisters, Carolyn Lee and Lucille McKinney of Arabi, Faye Carter of Sycamore, and Rachelle Smith of Americus; grandchildren, John Tomlinson, Van Tomlinson, Rick Reynolds, Matt Morrison, Michael Morrison, Mitchell Morrison, Scott Hancock and Kevin Hancock; and a great-granddaughter, Keylee Reynolds.

King David Spires
ARABI — Funeral services for King David Spires of Arabi were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Service with the Rev. Boyd Winters Jr. officiating. The Rev. Lynn Polk, granddaughter of Mr. Spires, gave the eulogy and offered words of comfort. Remarks were given by Debbie Stanley, another granddaughter.
Nyckol Goins, pianist and granddaughter, provided music for the service. Tim Perry sang “Sweet Beulah Land” and “I Call It Home.”
Pallbearers were Wes Spires, Danny Spires, Steve Spires, Ryan Barton, Nick Spires and Richard Bolden.
The committal service was held at Bay Spring Baptist Church Cemetery.

Frankie David Posey
ARABI — Funeral services for Frankie David Posey, 85, of Arabi were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Service with the Revs. J.E. Harris and Larry Wilbanks officiating.
Imogene Gilliam, pianist, provided music for the service and accompanied Richard Bolin as he sang “People Need The Lord” and “Sweet Beulah Land.” Billy White sang “I Can Only Imagine” and closed the service with “Go Rest High On That Mountain.”
Pallbearers were Pat Posey, Jon Posey, Billy Greene, Mark Gregory, Paul Gregory and Tommy Gregory.

Mrs. Joyner died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, in Monroe following an extended illness.

UNADILLA — Funeral services for J.T. Thompson, 77, were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2006, in the First Baptist Church of Unadilla. Burial followed in Walnut Cemetery. Mr. Thompson died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, in a Hawkinsville hospital.
Douglas Stephen Hester
ASHBURN — Funeral services for Douglas Stephen Hester, 69, will be held at 3 p.m. today, Jan. 17, 2006, in Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Perry Funeral Chapel of Ashburn has charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Hester died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006, in Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany following a short illness.
Mary Kimbrell Brookshier
ALBANY — Mary Kimbrell Brookshier, 83, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006, in Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors with interment in Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Nathan Godley will officiate.
A native of Albany, she was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. W.V. Kimbrell, two brothers, W.V. Kimbrell Jr. and W.R. “Bob” Kimbrell. She was a member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church and Crepe Myrtle Chapter #163, 0.E.S.
Survivors include her husband, Robert L. Brookshier of Albany; son, Robert L. “Bucky” Brookshier Jr. and wife, Ruby of Cordele; two daughters, Kathy Dohse and her husband, Del of Spotsylvania, Va., and Barbara Hicks and her husband, David of Albany; nine grandchildren, Robin Brookshier, Mary Kay Young, Kevin Dohse, Mike Dohse, Robert L. “Rob” Brookshier III, Laurel Lunsford, Ashley Craven, Felicia McCorvey and Pam Richter; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will by Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Kimbrell-Stern and the family may be contacted at the residence of Barbara and David Hicks, 2106 Chatham Drive.

Sue Blanchard Peterman
CORDELE — Funeral services will be held for Sue Blanchard Peterman at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Seville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Peterman died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2006.
Born Aug. 1, 1934, in Worth County, she was the daughter of the late Winnie Sanders Blanchard and the late Johnson Blanchard.
She is preceded in death by a son, Keith “Bull” Stewart and a step-son, Lamar Register. She was the owner and operater of the Cordele Beauty Shop.
Surviving Mrs. Peterman is husband, Paul Peterman of Seville; three sons, Steve Stewart of Vienna, Duane Register of Ellaville, and Tony Register of Wenona; a step-daughter, Kimberly Bailey of Albany; a brother Alton Blanchard of Folkston; a sister: Mozell Master of Jacksonville, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
