Myzelle W. Gill
CORDELE — Funeral services will be held for Myzelle W. Gill at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, in the Cordele First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-8:30 p.m. today.
Mrs. Gill died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006.
Born March 12, 1924, in Crisp County, she was the daughter of the late Zuma Elmira Stephens and the late David Monroe Wade. She was a member of the Cordele First Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School for 33 years. She was a homemaker and retired bookkeeper for Gill Electric Company.
Surviving Mrs. Gill is her husband of 65 years, Emeral L. Gill of Cordele; and a daughter, Carol G. Serravecza of Rowayton, Conn.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to United Hospice of Cordele, 708 E. 16th Ave., Cordele, Ga., 31015.

Betty Sue Crumley
OMEGA — Funeral services for Betty Sue Crumley, 64, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, in the Union Grove Church of God. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. Ray Dawson, Billy Dawson and Joseph L. Crumley will officiate the services.
Mrs. Crumley died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, in Tift Regional Medical Center.
Pallbearers will be Shane Hill, Terry Butler, Timmy Butler, John Overman, Farris Thompson, Wade Crumley, Gary Crumley and Ross Cargle.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Dorman, Raydean Johnson, Larry Spires, Ray Peele, Gerold Peele, Lindsey Hill, Terry Lewis and Larry Reed.
Born Nov. 24, 1941, in Tifton, she was the daughter of the late LeRoy Oliver and Anna Lee Nation Oliver. She was a lifetime resident of Tift County and was a homemaker and the bookkeeper for Crumley Brothers Painting. She was a devoted and compassionate Christian woman, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and a member of Union Grove Church of God where she served as Sunday School secretary for many years. Mrs. Crumley enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, crafts and making things for her family. She loved the beach and the mountains, collected angels and always put everyone else first. Mrs. Crumley was a child of the most high king.
Survivors include her husband, Jackie R. Crumley of Omega; four sons and four daughters-in-law, Dickie and Shirley Robinson, Donnie and Janice Crumley and Mike and Angie Crumley all of Omega, and Wayne and Deanna Matthews of Cordele; a daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and Charlton Parks of Omega; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Norma Ann and Harry Brewer of Tifton, and Patsy and Jerry Crumley of Omega; her grandchildren, Chad and Katianne Robinson, C.J. Robinson, Melissa Parks, Matthew Crumley, Rebekah Crumley and Tessla Matthews; her great-grandchildren, Hallie Robinson and Heidi Robinson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Leroy Oliver.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will lie in state in the church for one hour prior to the funeral service.

Charles Madison Reynolds
Funeral services for Charles Madison Reynolds of Pitts were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006 at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Wilcox County with Rev. Tommy Brett officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Reynolds died at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006.
Sharon Lavender, pianist, played soft music. During the service she played “The Old Rugged Cross” and “In The Garden.” Pallbearers were Drew Pless, Kyle Pless, Chandler Hartman, Graham Addison and Mason Addison, all grandsons of Mr. Reynolds, and Jonathon Wilson. Honorary pallbearers were J.E. Jones, Scotty Jones, Freddie Thompson, Huck Greene, and members of the Pleasant View Men’s Sunday School Class.
He was born Saturday, May 26, 1928 in Pulaski County and was the son of the late Thurmon Madison Reynolds and Eva Broadaway Reynolds. He was retired from the Albany Marine Corp Supply Center and was a veteran of the Merchant Marines and the United States Army. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and the Rochelle Lodge #190 F&AM.;
He is survived by his wife, Jeannine Howell Reynolds; three daughters and their husbands, Ginger and Andy Pless of Cordele, Sandy and Rick Hartman of Sarasota, FL, and Libby and Chris Addison of Longwood, FL; a sister, Emily Reynolds Ridgway of Eatonton; seven grandchildren, Drew Pless and Kyle Pless and his wife, Jennifer, all of Cordele, Haley Hartman and Chandler Hartman, both of Sarasota, Ivey Addison, Graham Addison and Mason Addison, all of Longwood, FL; and four great-grandchildren, Merrie Katelyn Pless, Andrew Pless, Baylor Pless and Ava Pless. He was preceded in death by a brother, Marcus Gerald Reynolds.

Lamar Black
CORDELE — Funeral services will be held for Lamar Black at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006 at the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Sunnyside Cemetery.
Mr. Black died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006 at the Cordele Health & Rehab Center.
Born Sept. 22, 1930 in Crisp County, Mr. Black was the son of the late Annie Louise Jones Black and the late Troy Lucian Black. He retired after 28 years as an insurance agent with Liberty National Life. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.
Surviving Mr. Black are his wife, Elizabeth R. Black of Cordele; two sons: Randy Black of Pitts and Marty Black of Cordele; three daughters: Debra Parham of Cordele, Pam Dodd of Suffolk Va. and Jackie Wells of Blairsville; two brothers: Troy Leonard Black of Lake Park and Gerald Black of Forest Park; a sister: Karen B. Carter of Cordele; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Black is preceded in death by two grandchildren: Glenn Bartlett and Tammy Renae Black.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 2006.

CORDELE — Funeral services for Julia Ida Musselwhite Gilmore Porter were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Service. Rev. Tommy Calhoun conducted the service. Imogene Gilliam, pianist, played soft music and accompanied Richard Bolin as he opened the service with “Surely The Presence”. After remarks by Rev. Jack Dowdy and Minister Glenn Jarrett he sang “ I Believe” and “In The Garden”. A CD of “Go Rest High On That Mountain” was played and Mr. Bolin also sang “Precious Memories.” The service was closed as he sang “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”. Pallbearers were Ben Musselwhite, Bradley Wright, Mark Olds, Joey Olds, Eugene Raper and Michael Olds. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Bryant Musselwhite, Brad Wright, Donnie Olds and Camilla Mitchell. Burial was in Sunnyside Cemetery.
Velma C. Dennard
ABBEVILLE — Funeral services for Velma C. Dennard, 75, of Abbeville will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 2006 in the Kramer Baptist Church with the Rev. Talmadge Wilcox, Rev. Hicks Brown and Rev. Howard Gibbs officiating.
Mrs. Dennard died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006 in the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.
She was born in Wilcox County March 7, 1930. She was the daughter of the late John M. Cross and Tannie Smith Cross. She was a member of the Kramer Baptist Church, retired from Wilcox Garment Company and was the widow of the late O.L. Dennard.
Survivors include; sons, Wayne (Jewel) Dennard of Eastman and Ronnie (Nancy) Dennard of Abbeville; four grandchildren, Tammy Tripp, Christy Lucas, Joey Dennard and Jordan Dennard; two great-grandchildren, Brilee Lucas and Gabin Tripp.
The family will meet friends at Frazier & Son Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, 2006.
Arthur Green Mathis Sr.
WARNER ROBINS — Funeral services for Arthur Green Mathis, Sr., 67, of Centerville will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 2006 in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Parkway Memorial Gardens. Rev. Tim Millwood will officiate.
Mr. Mathis died Friday, Feb. 10, 2006.
Mr. Mathis, a native of Worth County, was the son of the late Jess and Florene Moore Mathis. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; Peggy Mathis of Centerville; sons, Arthur G. “Art” (Lisa) Mathis Jr. of Centerville, Otis Daniel “Dan” (Lana) Mathis of Warner Robins, Kim (Chad) Day of Byron; siblings, Charles Mathis of Arlington, Janie Little of Cordele; grandchildren, Craig, Brittany, Taylor, A.J. Richard Ervin ‘Dick’ Hegeman
CORDELE — A memorial service for Richard Ervin “Dick” Hegeman will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, in St. Paul Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Hegeman died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, in Phoebe Putney Memorial in Albany, following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Racine, Wis., on Jan. 1, 1915, the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward P. (nee: Ida B. Herman) Hegeman. He played college football for the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, and also played professional football for the Chicago Cardinals for eight years. Mr. Hegeman was an avid all-around sportsman. He proudly served in the U.S. Marines during World War II and was honorably discharged at the rank of technical staff sergeant. After leaving the Marine Corps, Mr. Hegeman owned several businesses and worked in Wisconsin and Florida for the Budweiser Beer Company. After retiring, Mr. Hegeman came to Cordele and worked part-time as a carrier for the Cordele Dispatch for which he won an award in 2005 for being the 2004 Senior Carrier in an eight-state area. He was praised for diligent and faithful service. Mr. Hegeman was a member of St. Paul Presbyterian Church in Cordele.
Survivors include his wife, Oweta Hegeman of Cordele; four step-children, Sharon (Phil) Harris, Sondra (Lawrence) Roberts-Jackson, Karen Turner and Wesley (Verdena) Roberts all of Maryland; a sister, Elaine Kohl of Racine, Wis.; his sister-in-law, Rosa (Ben) Jones of Miami, Fla.; his niece, Cheryl (Keith) Heck of Franksville, Wis.; three nephews, Dick (Lesley) Johnson of Batavia, Ill., Gary (Sandra) Hegeman of East Troy, Wis., and Randall Kohl of Lauderhill, Fla.; two great-nieces, Michelle Kirk of San Francisco, Calif., and Nicole Kirk of Racine, Wis.; several step-grandchildren, several other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Edward Hegeman and Louis Hegeman, and a step-son, Jeffrey Cleveland.

Mary Ann Bodrey
CORDELE — Funeral services will be held for Mary Ann Bodrey at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Arabi Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.
Mrs. Bodrey was born Nov. 16, 1944, in Crisp County, the daughter of the late Cleo Alma Nipper Carpenter and the late Cecil Randall Carpenter. She was a homemaker and manager for Denny’s.
Surviving Mrs. Bodrey are her husband, Lee Bodrey of Cordele; a son, Cecil Bodrey Sr. and his wife, Renee of Cordele; a daughter, Cleo Huett and her husband, Ray of Cordele; and six grandchildren.

Bill Reynolds Sr.
CARROLLTON — Funeral services for William A. “Bill” Reynolds Sr., 76, were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, in the First Baptist Church in Carrollton. Burial followed in the Carrollton City Cemetery.
Mr. Reynolds died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006.
He was born June 22, 1929, in Turner County, the son of the Fred and Anna Wardlow Reynolds. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carrollton, and attended the Ready Sunday School Class. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia, after which time he designed and supervised the construction of Plant Crisp for the Crisp County Power Commission in Cordele. Mr. Reynolds was a member of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, of which he was an ambassador for several years. He organized and was the first president of the Carroll County Cattlemen’s Association, participated in the first A-Day for West Georgia College and volunteered until the last three years — he and fellow Jaycees lighted two ball fields at Lakeshore Park. He was a member of the Carrollton City School Board of Education and during this time he and the city and county school superintendents arranged for the vocational technical school to be in Carroll County. Mr. Reynolds was in construction, was former owner of The Flower Cart and also was a cattle farmer.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Jo Ann Crowley Reynolds; a daughter, Becky (Butch) Nicholson of Alpharetta; sons, Alan (Laura) Reynolds of Clarksville, and Jim (Pat) Reynolds of Carrollton; grandchildren, Katie Nicholson of Washington, D.C., Griffin and Tucker Reynolds of Carrollton, and Emily and Cody Reynolds of Clarksville; a sister, Dot Walls of Cordele; brothers, Dewey (Frances) Reynolds of Ashburn, Emmett Reynolds of Arabi, and Marvin (Margaret) Reynolds of Cordele; and several nieces and nephews.
