Ruthie Proctor, 94, of Cartersville passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Cartersville Heights Care and Rehab. Mrs. Proctor was born in Danville, Alabama on August 10, 1916 and was the daughter of the late Hubert McDonald and the late Rosa Thompson. She is also preceded by her husband, Joseph Chester Proctor; and a son, William S. Proctor.
Surviving Mrs. Proctor are her son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Shelvia Proctor of Cartersville; her grandchildren, Barry Proctor and Sherri Crowder; her brother, Joe McDonald of Tampa, Florida; her great-grandchildren, Robby and Christian Proctor, Melanie, Isaac and Jordon Crowder.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 2, 2010 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Pastor Scott Crowder and Barry Proctor officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1 � 3 p.m., Sunday.
Opal Clark Powell
VIENNA - Funeral services for Opal Clark Powell will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2006 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery.
Mrs. Powell, 63, died Friday, June 9, 2006, at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele.
She was born September 3, 1942 and was the daughter of the late Thomas Lamar and Annie Mae Bowen Holder. Mrs. Powell was employed by Island One as an off property sales consultant and was a member of Lake Blackshear Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Terry C. Powell of Vienna; a son and his wife, Steve and Marcye Lamb of Vienna; a daughter, Valarie Lamb Vonier of Vienna; three step-daughters and their husbands, Tina and Jamie Register of Cordele, Wendy and James Warren of New Market, AL and Amy and Jeff DuBose of Dublin, NH; two sisters and their husbands, Lavonne and Randall Butterworth of Cordele and Michelle and Craig Poole of Ashburn; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Bobby H. Clark, Lamar Holder and David Holder.

Mrs. Viola Dorothy Pavelka, 79, of Cartersville died Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Cartersville Medical Center. Born April 24, 1931 in Lawrence, Nebraska, Viola was the daughter of the late Lawrence H. Ostdiek and the late Emma L. Hoelting Ostdiek.
She was a homemaker and a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Preceding her in death along with her parents are her brother, Bernard Ostdiek; and her sister, Agnes Ostdiek.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin L. Pavelka; her daughters, Arlene Quellet, Bonnie Machin and Cheryl Waples; her sons, Darrel, Lynn and Brian Pavelka; her eight grandchildren; her four great-grandchildren; her brother, Vincent Ostdiek; and her sister, Rita Mazour.

VIENNA - Funeral services for Irene T. Ellis, 88, of Vienna will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2006, in Smyrna Baptist Church in Vienna. Burial will follow at Sunnyside cemetery in Cordele.
Mrs. Ellis died Sunday, June 11, 2006, in Palmyra Medical Center, Albany.
She was born to the late Lula Mae Cromer and George Emmett Lee Taylor on Tuesday, May 14, 1918. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Marvin Ellis.
A native of Crisp County, she was supervisor of Irene's Candy Kitchen at Ellis Bros. Pecan. She was a member of the Smyrna Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Jerry Morris of Vienna; three sons, M. Elliott Ellis and Bobby G. Ellis both of Vienna, and Randy T. Ellis of Cordele; one sister, Ruby Ray of Valdosta; two brothers, Gene Taylor and Otwell Taylor of Cordele; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today, June 13, 2006, at the funeral home.

Fred Daniel Thrasher, 72, of Cartersville passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at his residence.
Born February 3, 1938 in Douglas County, he was the son of the late David Thrasher and the late Dahlia Keaton Thrasher. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Larrochia; and eleven brothers and sisters. Fred was a supervisor for Yellow Freight and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Estes Thrasher; his children, Greg Thrasher, Clay Thrasher and his wife Sara, Danny Snow and his wife Tammy, Sharon Bryson and her husband Derrick, Ramona Hood and her husband Bryan, and Alicia Flemons and her husband Justin; his grandchildren, Rachael Duarte, Brandon Bryson, Matthew Bryson, Kala Snow, Luke Snow, Haley Hood, Bradley Hood, Ava Flemons, Ryder Flemons, and Heather Thrasher; his great-grandchild, Adriana Debra Duarte; and his sister, Carol Watson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 1, 2010 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Dr. Joe E. Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the Providence Cemetery.

MELBOURNE, Fla. - Funeral services for Lilly B. Evans will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2006, in the sanctuary of Gethsemane Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Macon. The Rev. L.D. Cobb Sr. will officiate the services.
Ms. Evans died Wednesday, June 7, 2006.
The processional will be led by Rev. Cobb and Stephanie McCray will sing a solo. Prayer and Scripture will be offered by Rev. Cobb and reflections will be given by family members and friends. Oren J. Evans will sing a solo and the family will be presented with an African-American heirloom Bible as a keepsake from the funeral home staff.

Mrs. Green died Monday, June 12, 2006, in Pineview Health Care Center.
Born March 5, 1933, in Hillsborough County, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Grady Atwood and Hattie Bell Stewart Atwood. She was retired from Rochelle State Bank and was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith and had fought 30-plus year battle with multiple sclerosis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Green.
Survivors include a sister, Odelia Atwood Land and her husband, Cawley, of Stockbridge; several nieces and nephews; and a cousin and her husband, Betty and Bill McBryant of Pitts.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
