ABBEVILLE - Funeral services for Lucy H. Wilson, 73, will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2006 in the Siloam Baptist Church. The Rev. James Faircloth, Rev. Talmadge Wilcox and Rev. Tommy Baker will officiate. iIntermentwill be held in the Siloam Cemetery.
Mrs. Wilson died Saturday at her residence.
Born in Wilcox County on November 12, 1932, she was the daughter of the late William Henry Hunter and Eula Mae Conner Hunter. She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church and was a retired civil service employee from Robins Air Force Base. She was a former librarian for the Wilcox County Library System and delivery person for the Macon Telegraph.
Survivors include her daughters, Karen (Kenny) Croft of Ocilla, Kathy (Jerry) Harvey of Abbeville and Tina (Donnie) Keene of Abbeville; sisters, Thelma Padgett of Kathleen, and Sara Gibbs of Abbeville; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2006 at Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle.

Opal Clark Powell
VIENNA - Funeral services for Opal Clark Powell will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2006 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery.
Mrs. Powell, 63, died Friday, June 9, 2006, at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele.
She was born September 3, 1942 and was the daughter of the late Thomas Lamar and Annie Mae Bowen Holder. Mrs. Powell was employed by Island One as an off property sales consultant and was a member of Lake Blackshear Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Terry C. Powell of Vienna; a son and his wife, Steve and Marcye Lamb of Vienna; a daughter, Valarie Lamb Vonier of Vienna; three step-daughters and their husbands, Tina and Jamie Register of Cordele, Wendy and James Warren of New Market, AL and Amy and Jeff DuBose of Dublin, NH; two sisters and their husbands, Lavonne and Randall Butterworth of Cordele and Michelle and Craig Poole of Ashburn; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Bobby H. Clark, Lamar Holder and David Holder.

CORDELE - Graveside funeral services for Bobbie W. Railey, 92, will be held at 11 a.m. today, June 1, 2006, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery in Rebecca. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of the services at the graveside. Perry Funeral Chapel of Ashburn has charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Railey died Wednesday, May 31, 2006, in Crisp Regional Hospital.
Charles E. 'Gene' Crenshaw
ROCHELLE - Funeral services for Charles E. 'Gene' Crenshaw, 48, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2006, in Christian Hill Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Christian Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Wayne Martin will officiate the services, directed by Frazier & Son Funeral Home of Rochelle. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Crenshaw died Thursday, June 1, 2006, in Ashburn.
Carlton Boston Bohannon
CORDELE - Funeral services for Carlton Boston Bohannon will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2006, in the A.S. Clark School Auditorium. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery. The Rev. Donnie R. Hall will officiate the services.
Mr. Bohannon died Wednesday, May 31, 2006.

Leonard (Lucille) Boston of Vienna, and Patricia (Percey) Sutton of Killeen, Texas; an aunt, Gertrude (Irvin) Butler of Miami, Fla.; an uncle, Lease Daniels of Atlanta; his mother-in-law, Betty Reese of Cordele; special friends, Ora Morgan, Larry Coleman, Killings Rogers, Mattie Fields, Zack Appling, Willie Griffin, Buddy Pickens, Bobby Green and J.W. Cleve Elam Jones
CORDELE - Graveside services for Cleve Elam Jones, 78, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2006, in Pope City cemetery in Wilcox County with the Rev. Paul Hock officiating.
Mr. Jones died Sunday, May 28, 2006.
A native of Wilcox County, he was a member of the Christian faith. He was a truck driver and a mechanic.
Survivors include his daughters, Linda Sanchez of Hialeah, Fla., Brenda Sue Jones and Viriginia Fay Jones both of Belle Glade, Fla., and Sylvia Rose Jones of Canal Point, Fla.; his ex-wife, Lorena Jones of Belle Glade, Fla.; a sister and brother, Nellie Hitson of Seville, Raymond Jones of Cordele; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Nettie Luetrell Burnette
CORDELE - Funeral services for Nettie Luetrell Burnette of Cordele will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2006, in Union Baptist Church in Wilcox County with interment to follow at Seville Cemetery.
Mrs. Burnette died in Crisp Regional Hospital Tuesday, May 30, 2006.
Born Tuesday, July 1, 1924, in Dodge County, she was the daughter of the late Hershel Ray Tedders and Nettie Lee Smith Tedders and the widow of Ferrell Ellis Burnette. She was a homemaker and a member of Union Baptist Church.
Mrs. Burnette is survived by her children, Brenda B. Stubbs of Cordele, and the Rev. Ray Burnette and his wife, Rose of Cordele; her grandchildren, Anthony Burnette and his wife, Christina of Mableton, Kristy Henderson and her husband, Brad of Savannah, and Daniel Burnette and Kelly Burnette both of Cordele; great-grandchildren, Audrey Grace Henderson, Cole Burnette, Caleb Burnette, Cameran Burnette, Caiden Crenshaw and Ella Faye Henderson; two brothers, Bobby Tedders of Arabi, and James Tedders and his wife, Neva of Rochelle; and a special nephew, Al Tedders.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Roger Stubbs; her siblings, Annie Lois Barrs, Ellen T. Barrs, Mary T. Judge, Verna McClain, Leroy Tedders and Roscoe Tedders.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Howard W. 'Pop' Butler
UNADILLA - Funeral services for Howard W. 'Pop' Butler, 94, were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2006, in the Unadilla United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Walnut Cemetery. The Rev. Grady Vance officiated the services, directed by Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Unadilla.
Mr. Butler died Thursday, June 1, 2006, in Perry hospital.
Christine McGahee Barrow
CORDELE - Christine McGahee Barrow, 91, died Friday, June 2, 2006, in Crisp Regional Nursing and Rehabilitation.
She was born on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1914, in Crisp County, to the late Gurley B. and Mary Edge McGahee. She is preceded in death by three brothers, Edge B. McGahee, Charles W. McGahee and Thomas McGahee, Jr. and is the widow of the late M.A. Barrow Jr. Well known for her kindness and generosity, Mrs. Barrow was a loyal member of Third Street Baptist Church where she served in various capacities. An avid genealogist, she had an immense interest in researching her family's history. She had retired a number of years ago as a sales lady with Belk. She was a member of numerous clubs and organizations including Cordele Chapter 793 of United Daughters of the Confederacy where she had served as president; Daughters of the American Revolution and The American Legion. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club and had been named Woman Of The Year.
Surviving her are several nieces, Jeannine Spann of Birmingham, Ala., Margaret (William) Beier of Ft. Pierce, Fla., Laura (Norbei) Weithaus of Erlangen, Germany, and Billie Jean (Gordon) Stallings of Columbus; several nephews, John L. McGahee of Monroe, Clyde T. (Eleanor) McGahee of Greenville, S.C., Marcus (Carolyn) McGahee of Richmond, Va., Stephen (Rosalee) McGahee of Hamonton, N.J., John Barrow of New York, and Charles McGahee of Sylvester; and a sister-in-law, Jane McGahee of Birmingham, Ala.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

CORDELE - Funeral services for L. Michael 'Mike' Morgan were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2006, in the Cordele First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Warren Williams and Lee Guerry conducted the service and Rainey Family Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
Irene T. Ellis
VIENNA - Funeral services for Irene T. Ellis were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2006, in Smyrna Baptist Church. Burial followed in Sunnyside Cemetery. The Rev. Rodney Bradford officiated the services. Mrs. Ellis' grandson, Mike Ellis, and great-grandson, Tucker Ellis, gave eulogies.
Mrs. Ellis' daughter-in-law, Connie Ellis, played the prelude and postlude on the organ. Eula Jo Sheffield, pianist, accompanied The Slade Family as they sang 'Because He Lives.'
The following grandsons served as pallbearers: Jason Ellis, Jarrold Ellis, Kyle Ellis, Bill Ellis, Michael Ellis, Brad Ellis, Keith Ellis and Tripp Smith.

Lizzie Lou Bridges James

Mrs. James died at her residence Saturday, July 8, 2006.
A native of Coffee County, she was born Monday, June 10, 1918 and was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Bridges and Nancy Ann Champion Bridges and the widow of Johnny Aultman James. Mrs. James was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Robert Stanley James and his wife, Mary, Glynes Hurt and her husband, Dr. Robert T. Hurt, Jr. and Randall A. James, all of Cordele and Samuel R. James and his wife, Vicki of Marietta; one sister, Emma B. Simmons of Albany; nine grandchildren, Dr. Gina Lanelle Hurt-Hodgson and her husband, Wayne, Dr. Robert T. Hurt, III and his wife, Joycelyn, Jennifer James, Craig James, Allen James Jackson, Stacie James Stonehill and her husband, Sean, Katherine Marie James, Jessica E. James and Samuel A. James; and 11 great-grandchildren, Ashley Lanelle Deadwyler, Sutton Claire Waller, Braxton Chance Peterson, Wayne Hodgson, III, Robert T. Hurt, IV, William Cole Hurt, Aultman James Hurt, Matthew Aultman James, Zackary Austin James, Brittany Amerson and Morgan Stonehill. She was preceded in death by a son, Joel Charles James, brothers, Thomas Daniel Bridges, Benjamin Franklin Bridges, Zachariah Pete Bridges, Joe Bridges, Richard Bridges, and Henry Bridges and a sister, Mamie Vickers.
