Micah Levi Godfrey

VIENNA - Funeral services for Micah Levi Godfrey, 26, of Vienna will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2006, in the Vienna First Baptist Church.

Mr. Godfrey died Tuesday, July 11, 2006, in Dooly County.

He was born to the Lisa Henley Slade and Michael Lamar Godfrey on Friday, Nov. 30, 1979, in Houston County. Micah was a computer technician with Calltech Communications.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Lisa and Dwaine Slade of Cordele; his father, Michael Lamar Godfrey of Unadilla; a brother, Zach Godfrey of Vienna; and maternal grandmother, Marilyn Henley of Vienna.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. today. At other times, the family may be contacted at the home of Micah's grandmother, Marilyn Henley, 111 N. Fourth St., Vienna.

Hughes & Wright Funeral Home is entrusted with these arrangements.

Cleo Pitts Fowler

CORDELE - Funeral services for Cleo Pitts Fowler, 82, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2006, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services with interment to follow at Sunnyside Cemetery.

Mrs. Fowler died at her residence in Cordele Friday, July 14, 2006.

Born Tuesday, Jan. 1, 1924, in Turner County, she was the daughter of the late Henry W. Pitts and Ida Haralson Pitts, and the widow of Will Fowler. Mrs. Fowler was a homemaker.

She is survived by her children, Janice Hendrix and her husband, Kirby of Yulee, Fla., Willard Fowler and his wife, Tisa of Snellville, Peggy Scott and her husband, Charles of Cobb, and Steven Fowler and his wife, Alice of Cordele; six grandchildren, Jason Fowler, Julie Fowler, Brian Hendrix, Brett Hendrix, Lindsay Scott and Megan Scott; two great-grandchildren, Brittnie Hendrix and Brian Hendrix; two brothers, J.C. Pitts and his wife, Eve of Portal, and Harold Pitts and his wife, Faye of Savannah; and a sister, Opal Jennings and her husband, John of Warner Robins.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lossie Freeman and Gwynnie Horton, and a brother, Jack Pitts.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Quentin A. Bobo

CORDELE - Funeral services were held for Quentin A. Bobo at 2 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2006, in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial followed at Sunnyside cemetery where the United States flag was presented to Mrs. Bobo. The Revs. Mark Stone and Damon Fountain officated the chapel service and Mr. Bobo's great-nephew, the Rev. Calvin Bobo, officiated the graveside service.

Cyledia Mixon, pianist, play the prelude and postlude. Rev. Calvin Bobo sang 'Amazing Grace' and 'The Solid Rock' a cappella.

Serving as pallbearers were Public Safety Director Dwain Orrick, Maj. Wes Spires and Lt. Lloyd Anderson of the Cordele Police Department; Sheriff Donnie Haralson, Col. Billy Hancock and Sgt. Mike Mitchell all of the Crisp County Sheriff's Department.

Ethameaze “Measy” Simmons Patrick

CORDELE — Funeral services for Ms. Ethameaze “Measy” Simmons Patrick will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2006 in the chapel of the Nance and Son Mortuary. The Rev. James Mcbourrows, pastor of the Agape’ Baptist Church will officiate. Deacon Charles Mumphrey will lead a prayer.

Ms. Patrick passed away Friday, June 16, 2006 from Crisp Regional Hospital.

She was born on November 30, 1958. She was proceded in death by her father, John Simmons Sr.; a brother, John Simmons Jr.; two uncles, Walter Davis and Willie Davis; and two aunts, Johnnie Harvey and Mary Cherry.

Survivors include her children, Raquella Simmons, Boderick Royal, both of Cordele, and Breuna Patrick of Atlanta; three grandchildren, Destiny Simmons, Adeliyah Royal and DeJuhn Simmons, all of Cordele; her mother, Otha Lee Simmons; two sisters, Bobbie (Jerome) Simmons of Marietta and Sherran (Lorenza) Mumphrey of Atlanta; two aunts, Fannie Simmons and Rosetta Moore, both of Vero Beach, Fla.; two uncles, J.L. (Carrie) Simmons and Dan (Leslie) Simmons Jr., both of Vero Beach, Gla.; a significant other, Larry Ray of Cordele; very special friends, Wynette Jordan, Carrie Bell (Willie) Lavant and Norma Jean Woodson, all of Cordele and a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends.

Nance and Sons Mortuary of Cordele has charge of these arrangements.

Nancy Bradshaw Ford

CORDELE — A memorial service for Nancy Bradshaw Ford will be held at 4 p.m. today, June 25, 2006, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services in Cordele. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the home of Brad and Mimi Ford, 802 E. 14th Ave., Cordele.

Opal Grace Rogers Head

ASHBURN — Funeral services for Opal Grace Rogers Head, 82, will be held at 2:30 p.m. today, June 25, 2006, in the Ashburn First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Perry Funeral Chapel of Ashburn has charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Head died Friday, June 23, 2006, in Tifton following a lengthy illness.

Alice R. Bruce

ROCHELLE — Funeral services for Alice R. Bruce, 99, will be held at 3 p.m. today, June 25, 2006, in Antioch Baptist Church in Abbeville. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery. The Revs. Talmadge Wilcox and Danny Allen will officiate the services, directed by Frazier & Son Funeral Home of Rochelle.

Mrs. Bruce died Thursday, June 22, 2006, in Pineview Health Care Center.

Stella ‘Ben’ Wilson Craft

ABBEVILLE — Funeral services for Stella “Ben” Wilson Craft, 86, will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2006, in Cannonville Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Stubbs Cemetery. The Revs. James Faircloth, Roy Taylor and Mike Cook will officiate the services.

Mrs. Craft died Friday, June 23, 2006, at her residence.

Born Feb. 3, 1920, in Wilcox County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Jefferson Wilson and Maggie Clements Wilson. She was a member of Cannonville Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Deleon Craft, three children, Judy Dowdy, Earl Craft and Lorene Keene, and a granddaughter, Lorrie Dowdy.

J.D. Rainey, Sr.

CORDELE — Funeral services for J.D. Rainey, Sr. were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2006 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Service with Rev. Warren Williams, Lee Guerry and Rev. Don Howell officiating. Norma Turton, pianist, played soft music for the service. Angie Carr led the congregation in singing Whispering Hope. Ms. Carr also sang Sunrise and Beyond The Sunset. She accompanied herself on the guitar and sang Sweet Hour Of Prayer at the close of the service. Pallbearers were Tony Jackson, John Jackson, Teddy Clifton, William Jones, Cliff Souther and Robert Fudge. The committal service was in Sunnyside Cemetery.

Joel A. Grantham

Funeral services for Joel A. Grantham will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Unadilla. iIntermentwill follow in Magnolia Park cemetery in Warner Robins.

Mr. Grantham of Unadilla, died Monday, July 24, in a Perry hospital.

Mr. Grantham was born in Dooly County, and was the son of the late Joel W. Grantham and Elizabeth Nutt Grantham. Mr. Grantham was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a former insurance salesman, and a Baptist.

Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Davis of Unadilla, a sister, Christene Johnson of Vienna, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Unadilla has charge of arrangements.

The family will greet friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Betty Jean Conner

PITTS — Funeral services for Betty Jean Conner, 68, will be held at 10 a.m. today, Aug. 2, 2006, in the Christian Home Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Pitts Cemetery. The Revs. Jack Dowdy and David Clark will officiate the services, directed by Frazier & Son Funeral Home of Rochelle.

Mrs. Conner died Monday, July 31, 2006, in the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.

Evelyn S. Lilly

LILLY — Funeral services for Evelyn S. Lilly, 91, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, in Lilly Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Lilly City Cemetery.

Mrs. Lilly died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006, at her residence.

Born in Dooly County, she was the daughter of the late John Erastus Sullivan and Willie Jane Murray Sullivan. Mrs. Lilly was a longtime member of Lilly Baptist Church where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class, the WMU, served as church treasurer and played the piano for more than 50 years. She was also active in numerous civic activities including the Lilly Woman’s Club and served on the Dooly Arts Council’s committee to renovate the Lilly School.

Survivors include her sisters, Helen Sullivan Clark of Winter Haven, Fla., and Earline Sullivan Smith of Warwick; grandchildren, Catherine Lilly Nelson and Lynn Lilly Smith both of Vienna, Beth Lilly Brown of Macon, John Alexander Lilly Jr. of Savannah, Marcia Lilly Hawley of Charlotte, N.C., and Melinda Lilly Canucci of Jacksonville, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lindon Lilly, and her sons, John Alexander Lilly and Robert Malcolm Lilly.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lilly Baptist Church, c/o Jana Beavers, 5095 Highway 90, Vienna, Ga., 31092.

Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Vienna has charge of the arrangements.

Carnike Nuketa Lucas Williams

UNADILLA — Graveside services for Carnike Nuketa Lucas Williams, infant son of Victoria Williams and Castonia Lucas of Unadilla, were held at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 30, 2006, in Turkey Creek cemetery in Lilly.

Master Williams died Wednesday, July 26, 2006, in Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville.

In addition to his parents, survivors include his brothers, Santrevian Collier, Castonia Lucas Jr., Jermall Lucas, Rashard Lucas and Tijae Lucas; his sisters, Jaquisha Lucas, Q’nya Lucas and Makayla Lucas; grandparents, Willie Burke, Gloria J. Lucas, Eddie Buckles and Bernice Buckles great-grandparents, Pearlie Mae Lucas, Willie B. Webb and Flossie Buckles; and a host of other relatives.

Alvie Coes Funeral Home of Unadilla had charge of the arrangements.

George L. Dwight

MACON — George L. Dwight, 70, died Sunday, July 30, 2006.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, in Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in the Zion Hope cemetery in Cordele. Pastors Robert Baldwin and Fred Gordon will officiate. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue and may be contacted at the residence.

Mr. Dwight was born in Cordele, and was retired from Butler Toyota. He was a member of Macon Corinth Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. Dwight was the widower of Sara Rawlins Dwight, the son of the late Franklin L. and Lillie Childers Dwight and was preceded in death by a son, Morgan Freddie Wright.

Mr. Dwight is survived by daughters, Brenda Tyson (John) of Deatsville, Ala., Patricia Hall of Macon, Joy Mills (Jerry) of Milledgeville, and Gaye Benefield (Wayne) of Gray; grandchildren, Missie Mills of Macon, Gy. Sgt. Jerry Mills Jr. of Canton, Kim Tyson of Lawrenceville, and Justin Benefield of Gray; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Dwight (Nancy) of Gainesville; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations be made to Macon Corinth Primitive Baptist Church, 3265 Ridgeland Ave., Macon, Ga., 31204.

Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue has charge of the arrangements.
