CORDELE — Funeral services for Sara Griffith Hardegree, 88, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, in the Cordele First United Methodist Church. Lee Guerry officiated the service and Rainey Family Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
Soft music was provided by Ray Faircloth, pianist. He also accompanied Sandra Windham as she sang “It Is Well.”
Pallbearers were Bubba Hardegree, Jason Spires, Matthew Spires, Roy Bailey, Dan Rook and Hunter Odom.

Thelma Sanders Varnadoe
CORDELE — Funeral services for Thelma Sanders Varnadoe, 93, were held at 1 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, 2006, in the Cordele First Baptist Church. Dr. Ches Smith III, Lee Guerry and the Rev. Ray Sullivan conducted the service and Rainey Family Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
Larry Varnadoe, Mrs. Varnadoe’s son, played soft music on the organ. Lynn Hanson, pianist, and Mr. Varnadoe accompanied the Rev. Roger Hanson as he sang “How Long Has It Been Since You Talked To The Lord?” Rev. Hanson led the congregation as they sang “How Great Thou Art.”
Pallbearers were Mike Varnadoe, Mark Goldwire, Mike Browning, John Dent, Ken Lewis and Donnie Prince.
Members of the Trinity Sunday School Class served as honorary pallbearers.
The committal service, officiated by the Rev. Hanson, was in Sunnyside Cemetery.

CORDELE — Funeral services for Ethel Nipper Jones, 90, of Cordele will be held at 11 a.m. today, Sept. 6, 2006, in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery.

CORDELE — Funeral services for Ethel Nipper Jones were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006, in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial followed in Sunnyside Cemetery. The Revs. Billy Nipper and James Kelley officiated the services.
Tommie Jean Beacham, pianist, provided soft music for the service.
Pallbearers were Juddie Pate, James Pate, Brandon Hauesler, Jack Warren, Randall Warren and Anthony Brown.
Honorary pallbearers were Virgil Nipper, Junior Purvis, Robert Dooley, Walter Bartee, Howard Rainey and Wayne Nipper.

Annie Merle Holt Estes
ROCHELLE - Graveside services for Mrs. Annie Merle Holt Estes will be held Monday, September 4 at 11:00 AM in the Morningside Cemetary in Rochelle. The Rev. Joyce Harris and Rev. Bill Harris will officiate.
Mrs. Estes, age 95 of 376 Hill St., Rochelle passed away Friday, September 1, 2006 in the Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele.
Mrs. Estes was born on March 19, 1911 in Turner County and had lived the greater part of her life in Wilcox County. She was the daughter of the late William Kelley Holt, Sr. and Maria Studstill Holt. She was affiliated with Rochelle State Bank in Rochelle and was a graduate of Andrew College in Cuthbert. She was a member of the Rochelle United Methodist Church, the DAR, UDC, the Dogwood Garden Club, and the Rochelle Woman’s Club. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Matt W. Estes, a sister, Willie M. Todd and a brother, W.K. Holt, Jr.
Survivors include: son-Matt W. (Janice) Estes, Jr. of Rochelle, sister-Marguerite H. (Leroy) Tippins of Rochelle, and two granddaughters, Jill and Tiffany Estes, both of Athens.
Margaret P. Mitchell
VIENNA — Funeral services for Margaret P. Mitchell, 72, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, in Tippettville Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Tippettville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Vienna has charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Mitchell died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006, at her residence.
Gary C. Jones
ALBANY — Funeral services for Gary C. Jones will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, in the sanctuary of the Greater Cutliff Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Albany. Burial will follow in St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church cemetery in Leesburg. The Rev. McKinley Drake will officiate the services.
Mr. Jones died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, in St. Louis, Mo.
The processional will be led by Rev. Drake and the devotion will be led by Deacons Jimmy Burden and John Phillips. Selections will be given by the church choir and Scripture will be read by the Revs. Gale Harris and H.C. Wilson. Prayer will be given by the Rev. John H. Curry Jr. and a solo will be sung by Deacon Solomon Sanders. Reflections will be given by family members and friends and the choir will sing another selection. The family will be presented with an African-American heirloom Bible as a keepsake from the funeral home staff.

Winifred Donald Zuker
(September 17, 1934 - July 19, 2011)
Mr. Winifred Donald Zuker, age 76, of Cedartown, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2011. He was born in Cedartown on September 17, 1934; he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul and Evie McGee Zuker.
Mr. Zuker is survived by cousins, Janet Nale, Don McGee, Larry McGee, Danny McGee and Randy McGee and also several other cousins survive.
Mr. Zuker is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Mrs. Joan Jolly Zuker.
In keeping with Mr. Zuker’s wishes, he was cremated. A graveside memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, July 22, 2011 at eleven o’clock in the morning in the Northview Cemetery.

Mrs. Loney Williams
ASHBURN - Funeral services for Mrs. Loney Williams, 84, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4 in the New Prospect Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Perry Funeral Chapel of Ashburn has charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Williams died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Eunice Raines Helms
ASHBURN - Funeral services for Mrs. Eunice Raines Helms, 96, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2 in the Rocky Mount Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Perry Funeral Chapel had charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Helms died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, in Tift Regional Hospital.
Juanita Lawrence Browning
DOUGLAS - Mrs. Juanita Lawrence Browning, 98, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, in Summers Landing Retirement Home in Douglas.
Mrs. Browning, a native of Lebanon, Tenn., was born July 09, 1908, the daughter of the late Euless Smith and Daisy Dean Parker Lawrence. She was the widow of the late Leo Hughes Browning and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Douglas, serving in Women in Missions and as a Sunday School teacher. She taught Sunday School in various churches for 70 years. She served as state president for the Garden Club of America, the Women’s Club of Georgia and Col. Dames. Her hobbies were knitting, crocheting and quilting for family and friends. Brothers, Fred Parker Lawrence and James Douglas Lawrence preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan B. (Stan) Rockett of Douglas; sons, Lawrence H. (Rita) Browning of Jacksonville, Fla., Curtis E. (Patsy) Browning of Cordele, and Roger E. (Wanda) Browning of Lakeland; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, 2006, in the First Baptist Church in Douglas.
Soloist Diskin Morgan sang “Amazing Grace” and “The Longer I Serve Him” with accompanists Lewis Sinclair, organist, and Marsha Gilliard, pianist.
Burial followed at 6 p.m. in the Cedar Hill cemetery near Cochran.
Randolph Evans
TAMPA, FL - Randolph Evans died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006 in Tampa, FL. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. from the New Zion Baptist Church in Cobb.
The Rev. Jessie Watts will officiate and burial will follow in New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Also participating in the service will be Deacon Charlie Cutts, Deacon Joe Clark, Rev. Antonio R. Surviving him are his mother, Iola Evans of Cobb; five children, Jacqueline Herring of Bowie, MD, Beverly Evans of Jacksonville, FL, Brenda Richard, Amanda Coleman (Titus) and Michael Evans of Tampa, FL; a stepson, Freddie Hayes Sr. (Gail) of Tampa, FL; five grandchildren, Talicia Nash, Freddie Hayes Jr. (Latoya), Damien Hayes, Breanna Evans, all of Tampa, FL and Brittany Herring of Bowie, MD; an adopted daughter and son, Lisa L. Broderick of Tampa and Jerry Lewis of Jacksonville, FL; two adopted sisters, Glenda Longino and Linda Ward of Jonesboro; three godchildren, Gail Gaynor, Faye and Deborah Williams of Tampa, FL; the mother of his children, Ella Evans of Tampa, FL; several an aunt, uncle, nephew, niece, several cousins and other relatives.

Barbara Jean “Big Barb” Brown
VIENNA - Barbara Jean “Big Barb” Brown died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006 in an Atlanta hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. from Bethel Baptist Church in Vienna with the Rev. Dr. Bobby G. West officiating.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Brown and Mrs. Mary Anderson Brown; two brothers, George Brown Jr. and Russell Brown; two sisters, Molly Mathis and Dorothy Royal and one daughter, Chaka Brown.
Surviving her are two sons, Pernell Brown and Marcus Brown, both of Vienna; three daughters, Tracey Brown, Tina Brown and Tanya Brown, all of Vienna; three brothers, Willie Lee Brown (Carrie) and Calvin Brown (Corene), both of Vienna and Roy Brown of St. Petersburg, FL; three sisters, Mary Nell Lundy and Mary Hall, both of Vienna, Selma Cross (Henry) of Cordele; 14 grandchildren, Kimberly Brown, Tatavious Leyva, Sha’Keem Brown, Shonta Key, Pernell Brown Jr., Shawaitt Brown, Antonio King, Donald Beal, Jaleel Brown, My’Eisha Brown, Jancisha Clark, Ra’Shae Riggins, Zachary King and Kassmere Clayton, all of Vienna and several aunts.

CORDELE — Memorial services for Eva Virginia Kimsey, 71, of Cordele will be held at 1:00 p.m. today in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. Mrs. Kimsey died Friday, September 29, 2006 at Crisp Regional Hospital. Mrs. Kimsey was born Friday, January 11, 1935 in Dooly County. She was the daughter of the late Ernest Lee and Lollie Rebecca Goodwin Faulk. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith. Survivors included her children, Geneva Clements and her fiancee, A.W. Napier of Cordele, Ernest "Buddy" Kimsey and his wife, Bernice of Pavo, Sheila Yawn and husband, Wilbur, Roy Kimsey and wife, Eunice, all of Cordele, and Walter Kimsey and wife, Bonnie of Milton, FL; a brother, Bob Faulk of St. Augustine; five sisters and their spouses, Pat Law of South Carolina, Cornelia and Allen Williams of Hawkinsville, Mary Kersey of Perry, Joyce and Bradley Whittington of Roberta and Earnestine and Buddy Brown of Fort Valley; 21 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren. Myrtice B. Crumley
CORDELE — Funeral services were held for Myrtice B. Crumley, 77, at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2006 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. Rev. Lawton Sammons officiated the service. Burial followed at Sunnyside Cemetary. Marcene Freeman played soft music and accompanied Rev. Royce Freeman and herself as they sang “Amazing Grace” and “I Am Bound For The Promised Land”. The service was closed as they sang “Precious Memories”. Serving as pallbearers were Kasey Crumley, Chris Chappell, Brad Tabor, Todd Crumley, Keith Musselwhite, Dwain Crumley, Gerald Crumley and Jeremy Crumley.
Gail C. Mashburn
PINEHURST — Funeral services for Gail C. Mashburn, 58, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Pinehurst Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Vienna City Cemetary.
Mrs. Mashburn died Saturday at her residence.
She was born in Dooly County on February 20, 1948, she was the daughter of Ralph and Ruth Morris Cason. She was a member of Pinehurst Baptist Church, played the piano and organ, led children’s church, taught Sunday School and was a member of the Praise Sunday School Class. She was also a active in numerous civic activities, serving as an ambassador with the Dooly Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Pinehurst Development Committee and enjoyed reading to children in local schools. She worked at Bank of Dooly as a customer service representative.
Survivors include Husband, Larry Mashburn of Pinehurst, Sons, Todd Mashburn (Skye) of Statesboro, Troy Mashburn (Leslie) of Pinehurst, Parents, Ralph and Ruth M. Cason of Vienna, Sisters, Elaine Culpepper (Rick) of Vienna and Karen Ransom (David) of Unadilla, a Brother, Ray Cason (Jackie) of Vienna, Grandchildren, Ivey, Alex, Will and Abby Mashburn, several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home this afternoon from 4 until 6 p.m.
