Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery. The Rev. Talmadge Wilcox will officiate the services, directed by Frazier & Son Funeral Home of Rochelle. CORDELE — Funeral services for Thomas Jackson “Jack” Davis were held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2006, in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home of Cordele. The Rev. Clark Standard officiated the services. Burial was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2006, in Beulah Baptist Church cemetery in Dothan, Ala.
Imogene Gilliam, pianist, provided soft music for the service. Scott Hearn sang “His Eye Is On The Sparrow” and Billy White sang “Beulah Land.”
Pallbearers were Tommy Mitchell, Dick Mooney, Charles Wells, Harold Jackson, Ferrell Henry, Joel Gilliam and W.M. Davis.

Elaine Vernelle ‘Bunny’ Bailey
CORDELE — Funeral services for Vernelle “Bunnie” Bailey, 84, a long-time resident of Cordele, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. iIntermentwill follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Crisp County.
Mrs. Bailey died in St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens Sunday, Oct. 1.
She was born Monday, July 10, 1922, in Worth County and was the daughter of the late James Ira and Lydia Haseltine Pate James. She was the widow of Arminus Cooper “Shorty” Bailey Jr. Mrs. Bailey was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and was a retired hair dresser. She had also been employed at Adams Drug Store for 30 years.
She is survived by one son and his wife, Derrell Keith and Rebecca Bailey of Athens; a sister, Elizabeth Jordan of Vidalia; two special nieces, Wynette Sirmons and Sue Murphy, both of Cordele; and several other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Magnes Wilner Wade, and two brothers, Vealon James and Clewis James.

Mrs. Virginia Mathis Reynolds, age 87, of Cedartown, Georgia, formerly of Sumter, S.C., passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2011. She was born on January 31, 1924 in Marlboro County, S.C., the daughter of the late J.W. Mathis, Sr. and Dessie Brown Mathis. Mrs. Reynolds is preceded in death by her husband, Craig Reynolds; sisters, Marie Chewing, Elisabeth Blackwood, Agnes Dunlap; and brothers, J.W. Mathis, Jr, Edward Mathis, Donald Mathis, and Ernest Mathis.
She is survived by her daughter and son in-law, Patsy and Ken Wingate; daughter, Deborah Galyon; 5 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service for Mrs. Virginia Mathis Reynolds will be conducted on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at eleven o’clock in the morning in the chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Conner and Rev. Tony Weaver officiating.

Hazel Stephens Williams
PINEVIEW — Graveside services for Hazel Stephens Williams, 84, formerly of Blakely, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, at Blakely Cemetery. The Rev. Jim Wiley will officiate the services.
Mrs. Williams died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, in Pineview Health Care Center.
She was born in Miller County on Jan. 15, 1922, the daughter of the late Tom Watson Stephens Sr. and Lucy Mock Stephens. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and had lived her life in Miller and Early counties. She was the widow of the late Tony Allison Williams.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Kathy and Tom Jennings of Rochelle, and Debra and Russell McNeal of Blakely; a brother, Tom W. Stephens Jr.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Walter George Brown
CORDELE — Funeral services for Walter George Brown, 81, of Cordele will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2006, in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6-8 p.m.
Mr. Brown died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006, at his residence.
He was born in Worth County, the son of the late W.L. Brown and Johnnie Lee Gleaton Brown on Sunday, March 29, 1925. He was a retired surveyor for the Worth County ASCS Office and a member of the Rocky Mount Baptist Church.
Mr. Brown was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II. He is preceded in death by four siblings, Florine Oliver, Frances Murray, Donald Brown and Billy Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Euraline Braziel Brown of Cordele; and four sisters, Tharistine Johnson of Cordele, Caroline Hudson of Vienna, Claire Youngblood of Rochelle, and Mereda Messarra of Texas; and a devoted and loving dog, Muffin.

Eunice Clayton Trapp
(January 5, 1925 - July 31, 2011)
Ms. Eunice Clayton Trapp, age 86, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, formerly of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on July 31, 2011. She was born on January, 5, 1925 in Muscadine, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ervin and Mae Clayton.
Ms. Trapp worked for many years in a torpedo factory during WWII and then retired from a textile and garment business in Providence, RI.
Ms. Trapp is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Diane Rice of Colorado Springs, CO; three grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and friends also survive.
Ms. Trapp is preceded in death by her parents; Ms. Trapp was the youngest and last survivor of eight brothers and sisters.
A graveside service for Ms. Trapp will be conducted on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at eleven o’clock in the morning in the Upper Cane Creek Cemetery, in Fruithurst, Alabama, with Rev. Timothy Lamb officiating.

UNADILLA — Funeral services for Gerald P. Jones, 75, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2006, in First Baptist Church of Unadilla.

James David Childree
STATESBORO - James David Childree, age 54, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11a.m. from the Alma United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Whatley, Rev. Henry Bass, and Rev. Wes Moye officiating.
Visitation in Alma will be conducted from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Alma United Methodist Church on Dixon St.
Graveside services and burial are planned for Friday at 4 p.m. in the Brooklet City cemetery in Brooklet. Visitation there will be conducted from 4:30 until 6 p.m.. at the Brooklet United Methodist Church social hall.
Mr. Childree was born in Fitzgerald, but grew up in Cordele. He was a 1970 graduate of Crisp County High School where he was recognized as an outstanding and gifted athlete, excelling in basketball, football, and especially baseball.
As a youth, Mr. Childree was actively involved in the Pinecrest Baptist Church in Cordele. He moved to Bulloch County in 1970 and attended Georgia Southern College. He was also employed as a boilermaker out of Savannah Union for several years before graduating from Georgia Southern.
He completed his bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology in 1981 and was employed with the Milliken and Company Alma Plant. He was the engineering services manager at the Alma plant for nearly 25 years.
In Alma, Mr. Childree was an active member of the Alma United Methodist Church. While serving as chairman of the Board of Trustees, he initiated plans for the design and building of a new church parsonage. He was, for many years, an active member of the church choir.
Mr. Childree also was a charter member of the Blueberry Plantation Golf Club in Alma. An avid golfer, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities, including GSU Eagle football and tailgating. By nature he was a talented cook and entertained family and friends by sharing his culinary skills and wonderful food.
Mr. Childree’s greatest talent was making people feel loved, appreciated, and special. His sincerity, kindness, generosity and compassion earned him numerous loyal friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Johnie R. Childree and his father-in-law, Dr. C.E. Bohler.
Surviving him are his devoted wife of 27 years, Rene Bohler Childree; his son, Jonathan Childree of St. Simons Island; his daughter, Jeanna Childree of Statesboro; his mother, Loutrelle McMillan Childree of Cordele; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Edwin and Karen Childree of Titusville, FL and Mark Childree of Cordele; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ellen Bohler Anderson and AJ Anderson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., Matt Bohler of Tucker, and Tim and Christy Bohler of Statesboro; and his mother-in-law Billie Bohler of Brooklet.

CORDELE - Robert Austin, 91, of 402 W. 9th Ave. died Monday, Oct. 23, 2006 in Crisp Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. from the sanctuary of Macedonia Baptist Church in Drayton.
Robert “Bob” Lee Laxton
CORDELE - Funeral services for Robert “Bob” Lee Laxton were held Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home.
The Rev. George Nelson officiated, and burial was in Christian Hill Freewill Baptist Church cemetery in Wilcox County. Rev. Nelson also sang “Beulah Land.”
Pallbearers were Randy Welch, Rick Welch, Steven Welch, C. J. Bolton, Frank Roundtree Jr., Danny Williams, David Laxton and Daniel Laxton.
