CORDELE - Mary Alice Mathis of Cordele died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006 in Crisp Regional Nursing and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. from the Greater Morris Tabernacle Baptist Church.
The Rev. Kenneth M. Williams will officiate, and burial will follow in Westview Cemetery. Pastor Williams will lead the processional, then the Greater Morris Choir will present a selection. Pastor Williams will read scripture from the Old and New Testaments, and reflections will be given by family members, church members and friends.
The choir will present another selection, and the funeral home staff will present the family with a keepsake Bible.
Surviving her are a daughter, Mary F. Perry of Cordele; five grandchildren, Charlyne Troutman, Adana Perry and Adrian Perry, all of Atlanta, Charlette Hartage (Fredrick) of Naples, Italy, and Antoinette Williams of Cordele; a sister-in-law, Irene Daniels of Cordele; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

VIENNA - Hattie Mae Bryant Daniels, 73 of Vienna died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006 in an Albany hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. from Macedonia Baptist Church in the Drayton community.
James A. Schmidt
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — James A. Schmidt, 70, of Jacksonville, Fla., died suddenly on Tuesday, May 9, 2006.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2006, at Andersonville National Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Beckham will officiate.
A native of Americus, Mr. Schmidt grew up on the family farm, Hillcrest Dairy in Sumter County. Growing up, he and his family attended the First Baptist Church of Americus. Mr. Schmidt graduated from Americus High School in 1953, and was a football letterman. An Eagle Scout, Mr. Schmidt was active with the Boy Scouts his entire life. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech, and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Mr. Schmidt was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed for 23 years with GE, and also was a licensed real estate agent for more than 30 years. Mr. Schmidt was a resident of Jacksonville, Fla., for more than 20 years and was an avid sailor, earning his yachting license. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, and attended Beach United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Sharon Hart and her husband, Jason of Smyrna; three step-daughters, Christa Anderson of Atlanta, Dee Anderson O’Connor and her husband, Mike of Savannah, and Leslie Anderson Brodnax and her husband, George of Atlanta; three grandchildren, Benjamin Hart, Robert Hart and Virginia Hart all of Smyrna; his former wife, Judy Downing of Savannah; two sisters, including his twin, Jean Schmidt Bowen and her husband, Dr. John M. of Athens, Mary Ann Schmidt Williams and her husband, John C. of Pearson; a brother-in-law, Luther F. Wood of Albany; one niece and seven nephews.
The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern Friday prior to the service from 10-11:30 a.m.
There will be a memorial service for Mr. Schmidt in Atlanta at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 14, 2006, at H.M. Patterson & Son, Spring Hill.

ROBERT HARVELL TAYLOR III
June 12, 1997 - December 29, 2010
Robert Harvell Taylor III, 13, of Cartersville passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2010. Born June 12, 1997 in Springfield, Tennessee he was the son of Robert Harvell Taylor II and Veronica Griego Taylor of Cartersville. He was preceded in death by his Aunt Teresa, his Papa Ross, and his Grandma Nina.
Rob was an eighth grader at Woodland Middle School, he was a member of Atco Baptist Church and loved baseball.
Survivors include his parents; his sisters, Leanne, Erika, and Monique; his niece Isis; his grandparents, Robert H. and Margaret Taylor, and Bob and Lucille White; his great-granny Ross; and a multitude of loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral arrangements will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Euharlee Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Digsby, Rev. Mark Curlee, Rev. Keith Dempsey, and Christopher Taylor officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Monday at Osborn Park on Covered Bridge Rd. in Euharlee.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Rob Taylor Memorial Fund at the Bank of the Ozarks at 950 Joe Frank Harris Parkway, Cartersville, GA 30120.

Geraldine B. Dueitt
CORDELE — Funeral services for Geraldine B. Dueitt, 69, of Cordele will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2006 in the chapel Of Rainey Family Funeral Services with Rev. Roy Hicks officiating. Mrs. Dueitt died at her residence Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006.
A native of Worth County, she was the daughter of the late Roy Turner Baker, Sr. and Lilly Lois Hayes Baker. She was a homemaker and a member of Emerald Hill Baptist Church in Moultrie. Mrs. Dueitt is survived by three sons, Willis Mathis, and Aaron Pitts, Sr. and his wife Sondra, all of Cordele, and Edward O. Dueitt, Jr. of Polk City, FL; a brother, Roy T. Baker, Jr. of Lakeland, FL; nine grandchildren, Roy Mathis and his wife, Paige, Troy Pitts, Jr. and his wife, Brandy, Dean Pitts and his wife Heather, Samantha Huckaba, Angela Mathis, Christy Mathis, Blake Pitts, Jacob Burnett and Adam Burnett; eight great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Virginia Baker and Retha Baker, both of Thomasville and several special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Owen Dueitt, Sr. and two brothers, Milford Gene Baker and James F. Baker. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service Monday, Oct. 16, 2006 from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. Arrangements by Rainey Family Funeral Services.
Grace Mae Keen
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — Graveside services for Grace Mae Keen, 85, formerly of Abbeville, will be held at 3 p.m. today, Oct. 15 at Siloam cemetery in Abbeville. The Rev. Mike Cook will officiate for the services which will be directed by Frazier & Son Funeral Home of Rochelle.
Mrs. Keen died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at her home in Winter Haven.
Redith Caroline Folsom
KINGSLAND — Funeral services for Redith Caroline Folsom, 81, formerly of Nashville will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16 from the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home in Nashville. The Revs. Don Howell and B.J. Holliday will officiate for the services. Entombment will be in Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Folsom died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, in Sears Manor in Brunswick.
A native of Berrien County, she was born April 14, 1925, to the late Pearlie Carter Akins. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church. She was the widow of the late William C. Folsom Jr., who died in 2003.
Survivors include four sons, William C. Folsom III and Chris Folsom of Kingsland, Stan Folsom of Americus, and Kirk Folsom of Sugar Hill; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Eileen Helms Bezanson
UPLAND, Calif. — Graveside services for Eileen Helms Bezanson of Upland, Calif., formerly of Cordele will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006. The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 1 p.m Sunday prior to the graveside service at Arabi Cemetery.
Mrs. Bezanson, 57, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, in City of Hope Medical Center in Duarte, Calif.
She was born in Americus on Monday, June 20, 1949, the daughter of Nelta Rentfrow Helms and the late C.H. Helms. She was avid gardener and enjoyed wildlife and her grandchildren. She also was a graduate of California State at Fresno and was an accountant.
She is survived by her husband, Glen Bezanson of Upland, Calif.; her children, Tracy M. Bezanson and her husband, Tim of Rancho Cordova, Calif., and G. Alan Bezanson of Atlanta; her mother, Nelta R. Helms of Cordele; her brothers, William Helms of Atlanta, Walter Helms of Waverly, and Paul Helms of Arabi; and grandchildren, Zack, Kylie and Erin.

Cordele — Graveside funeral services were held for Dorothy Arrighi Brantley at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov, 22, 2006. The Rev. Teddy Hubbard and Associate Pastor Andrew Blanton officiated the service. Burial followed in the Sunnyside Cemetery.
Rev. Hubbard, Judy Hubbard and Christy Blanton sang “Precious Memories, ” “Go Rest High On That Mountain, ” and “I’ll Fly Away” accompanied by Rev. Hubbard playing the guitar. Two selections, honoring their grandmother, were read by Twila Adams and April Broxton.
Serving as pallbearers were Bobby Holman, Kelly Grimsley, Shon Grimsley, Shane Broxton, Clay Holman, Jake Fuller, Oscar Sanders and Johnny McGlamory.

Richard Neil Ford
IDEAL — A memorial service for Richard Neil Ford was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006, in Stillwater Chapel in Ideal. The Rev. Jenny Peterson conducted the service and Rainey Family Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
Remarks were given by several members of the congregation. Bonnie Derrington, pianist, played soft music for the service.
