Alma H. Lane
Services for Alma H. Lane of Rentz were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6 at Baker Baptist Church with interment in the Snow Hill Cemetery.
The Rev. Harrell Rogers and the Rev. Joey Diers officiated.
Lane, 76, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Austin Horne and Essie Lee Evans Horne.
She was a native of Laurens County and was a resident of McRae Manor in McRae for the last six years. She was a member of Baker Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her sons, Eddie Lane of McRae and Russell Lane of Rentz; sisters, Juanita Mullis of Caldwell and Elouise Williams of Rentz; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Townsend Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. of Dublin was in charge of arrangements.
Alma McLean McBride
Services for Alma McLean McBride of Lumber City were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13 at the Lumber City United Methodist Church with interment in the Riverside Cemetery in Lumber City.
The Rev. James Boyd and the Rev. Benjy Varnell officiated.
McBride, 85, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2004 at the Brian Center in Lumber City. She was the daughter of the late John A. and Susie Belding McLean and was the widow of Howard Hugh McBride Sr.
She was a native of Hancock County and had been a resident of Lumber City for the past 75 years. She was a member of the Lumber City United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Hugh McBride Jr. of Lumber City and John C. McBride of Macon and four grandchildren.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home of Hazlehurst was in charge of arrangements.
Matthew McRae Sr.
Services for Matthew McRae Sr. of Helena were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30 at Corinth CME Church with interment in the Pine Acres Cemetery.
The Rev. R.L. Yarbrough Sr. officiated.
McRae, 93, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004 at Columbus Hospice in Columbus. He was the son of the late Rev. William McRae and Janice Scott McRae and was the widower of Jeddie Lee Steele McRae. He was a native of Telfair County.
Survivors include his children, Rev. Ruth Benton of Wellingboro, N.J., Dr. Lillie Mae Sewarcy of Macon, Dr. Matthew McRae, Jr. of Athens, Dr. Freddie Lee McRae of St. Petersburg, Fla., Dr. Sylvester McRae of Columbus and Dr. Keith L. McRae of Gainesville; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
A.L. Spaulding Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.
Fannie Mae Barfield Pullen
Services for Fannie Mae Barfield Pullen of Lumber City were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4 in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with interment at 2:45 p.m. in the Pleasant Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Dublin.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints conducted the services.
Pullen, 86, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004. She was the daughter of the late William Lathan and Alice Pearson Barfield and was the widow of Nelson Pullen.
She was a resident of Telfair County since 1951, a homemaker and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include her daughters, Jeanette Ban of Lumber City; grandchildren, Michael Ban of Lumber City, Karen Fields of Helena, Natalie Colvin of Titusville, Fla., ALice Czappa of Appleton, Wis. and Tiffani Ban of Charlotte, N.C.; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Patsy House, Rt. 1, Box 273B, McRae.
Vaughn Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.
Cliffola Morrison Browning
Services for Cliffola Morrison Browning of Glenwood were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1 at Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Glenwood Chapel with interment in Glenwood City Cemetery.
The Rev. Connie Walker and the Rev. Jimmy Gilbert and Cheryl Faulk officiated.
Browning, 98, died Saturday, Oct. 30 in Tifton after an extended illness. She was the widow of Robert Lee Browning. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Clifton (Tip) Taylor; two son-in-laws, Howard Doss and L.B. Chambers.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Wheeler County, a retired clerk and bookkeeper with Brown Ford Company of McRae, Firestone in McRae and retired from Martin Furniture Company in Milan. She was a very faithful and active member of the Glenwood United Methodist Church and the Ladies Fellowship Sunday school class. She taught Sunday school and played the piano for many years.
Survivors include her daughters and son-in-laws, Jeanette Chambers of Lake Sinclair, Sarah Doss of Tifton, Catherine and Harold Cravey of Milan and Willie Jay Taylor of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren and spouses, Grady Doss, Glen and Phyllis Doss, Robert and Deborah Chambers, Susan and Darrell Sammons, Belinda and Franklin Brantley, Dorcas and Randy Christian, Cheryl and Dan Faulk; great-grandchildren, Kasey Painter, Katie Chambers, Suzanne Conley, Edward Sammons, Claire Doss, Marlissa Doss, Luke Christian, Dory Christian, Jason Brantley and Rodney Brantley; great-great grandchildren, Anna and Taylor Conley; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service of Glenwood Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Bertha Yeomans King
Services for Bertha Yeomans King of Eastman were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29 in Southerland Funeral Chapel with interment in Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
The Rev. Fred Parker and the Rev. Wayne McDaniel officiated.
King, 81, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004 in Northside Hospital in Macon. She was the daughter of the late A.J. Yeomans and Lessie Brannan Yeomans and the widow of E.C. King. A native of Telfair County, she was a homemaker and attended Antioch #1 Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Elizabeth K. Dunn and Bonnie K. Turner, both of Eastman and Helen K. Brown of Macon; sons, Dwayne King of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Randy King of Eastman; sister, Vera Lee Brewer of Eastman; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home of Eastman was in charge of arrangements.
James M. Conley
Services for James M. Conley of Rhine were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28 in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with interment in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
The Rev. Larry Thompson officiated.
Conley, 82, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005. He was the son of the late Calvin Conley and Nettie Spires Conley and the widower of Ouida Selph Conley.
He was a native of Telfair County, a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and a retired logger.
Survivors include his daughter, Judy Myers of Douglas; sons, Lonnie Conley, David Conley, and Randy Conley, all of Rhine; brothers, Pete Conley of Milan, Billy Conley and Ralph Conley, both of Rhine; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home of Eastman was in charge of arrangements.
Razz Davis
Services for Razz Davis of Helena were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29 in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with interment with full military honors in Telfair Memorial Gardens.
The Rev. Alvin Lewis and the Rev. Roy Grimes officiated.
Davis, 68, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005. He was the son of Charlie Fulton Davis and the late Alice Fay Jones Davis and was married to Ann Davis of Helena. He was preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle Van Kleeck, a nephew and a great-nephew.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Telfair and Wheeler Counties. He was an operations supervisor for Perolater Courier and a member of the Red Hill Baptist Church. He proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
In addition to his wife and father, survivors include his daughter, Shirley Webb of Eastman; brothers, Roger Davis and Gordon Davis, both of Chauncey; sisters, Marlene Jeffries of Milan, Jennie Bentley of McRae and JoAnne Miller of Monticello; and three grandchildren.
Vaughn Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.
Nancy Lou Higingbotham
Services for Nancy Lou Higingbotham of McRae were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29 at First Baptist Church in Eastman with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Eastman.
The Rev. Bob Williams and Dr. Jerry Peele officiated.
Higingbotham, 82, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005 at McRae Manor Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late Ira Batts and Viola Davis of Dodge County and was married to Curtis Higingbotham of McRae. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Higingbotham and two grandchildren.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Eastman and was a homemaker.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her sons, Johnny Higingbotham of McRae, Tommy Higingbotham of Santa Cruz, Calif.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Lowe's Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of arrangements.
