Sue Daniell Zuber, age 100, of Luke Circle passed away on September 20, 2004.
A native of Oconee County, Mrs. Zuber was the daughter of the late Osceola and Mollie Sims Daniell. Her husband, William Grier Zuber, preceded her in death. Mrs. Zuber was a long time member of the Bogart First Baptist Church. Her interest were many, over the years she taught many crafts. She made ceramic Bulldogs for the UGA Bookstore for over 20 years, starting the year that Vince Dooley came to UGA. She also had her own ceramic shop and taught ceramics to many of her friends.
Sue loved the community spirit and fellowship Bogart had to offer. She was president of the Bogart High School PTA, Bogart H.S. Alumni, the school where she graduated in 1922. She helped organize the Bogart Home Demonstration Club, the Bogart Community Club and the first Bogart Library.
Sue married
her childhood sweetheart, Grier, a career Navy man. They had a very fulfilling life together, with a son and daughter, Don and Janet. Others left to mourn her death are daughter–in- law, Cora Nell Zuber and granddaughter Cindy and Matt Hardigree, son-in-law Bob Luke and granddaughters Connie and Eddie Thomas and Ginger and Billy Andrews. Six great-grandchildren Shelley and Brittany Baker, Anna Leigh Hardigree, Jenny and Carol Thomas and Luke Andrews.

Funeral services will be held at 3PM Thursday at the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Fite and Rev. Ted Tedder officiating. iIntermentwill follow in Evergreen memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Wednesday at Bernstein Funeral Home.

Mary Patti Berryman, 57, of Tarpkins Road passed away on September 20, 2004
A native of Elbert County, Mrs. Berryman was the daughter of the late Robert and Charlotte Martin Berryman. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband William Berryman, Commerce; daughter Lori dean, Elberton; brother Robert A. Blackman, Elberton and two grandchildren, Bobby and William Dean of Elberton.

Violet L. Brown
CORDELE — Violet L. Brown, 85, of Cordele, died in Crisp Regional Hospital Monday, Jan. 15, 2007.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 17 at the Vienna City Cemetery.
Mrs. Brown was born Sunday, Feb. 6, 1921, in Dooly County, the daughter of the late Frank and Elsie Clark Coffee. She was a homemaker and a member of Third Street Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Katherine and Walter Allen of Vienna, and Sandra and Winton Lowery of Cordele; two brothers, Tracy Coffee of Cordele, and Frank Coffee Jr. of Macon; a sister, Lena Elrod of Montezuma; five grandchildren, Kathi Ann Beavers of Lilly, Clay Lowery of Eatonton, Tracie Morgan of Dublin, Walter Allen of Huntsville, Ala., and Matt Allen of Empire; and three great-grandchildren, Brittany Beavers, Kenneth Beavers Jr., and Mary Kate Beavers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Thomas Brown.

Jeanette Douthit
AMERICUS — A memorial service for Jeanette Douthit, 80, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20 in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home with the Rev. Brooks Partain officiating.
Mrs. Douthit died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007.
Born Aug. 21, 1926, in Graceville, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Charles Peacock and Nora Gomillion Peacock. Her husband, C.T. Douthit Jr., preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1999. She was of the Methodist faith and was a department manager at Belk’s in Albany for many years.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene and John Franklin of Brunswick, Pat and Bob Davis of Americus, and Nora and Mark Frazier of White Lake, MI.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Buddy and Cindy Douthit of Russellville, AL., and Butch and Delana Douthit of Cincinnati, OH; two sisters, Bobbie Nell Young of Havana, FL., and Betty Jean Campbell of Quincy, FL.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the League of the Good Samaritan, 2001 S. Lee St., Americus, Ga., 31709.

Jean Darby Ruff Henry

Jean Ruff Henry, 76, of Camelot Drive, died Wednesday, May 18, 2005.
A native of Madison County, Mrs. Henry was the daughter of the late, Neal and Nell Campbell Darby. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl D. Ruff and William M. Henry and was a member of Oconee Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Debra R. Vernon of Athens, Michael E. Ruff of Winterville and Timothy G. Ruff of Athens; stepson, W. David Henry of Reston, VA; brother and sister in law, Neal and Sara Darby of Acworth; grandchildren, Shoshana M. Vernon and Matthew Ruff.

Pierre John Debs
1927-2005
Pierre John Debs, Professor Emeritus UGA, age 77, of 1270 Robinhood Rd passed away on Monday, May 2, 2005.
Born in Beirut, Lebanon, he was the son of the late John Pierre and Mable Kabalan Debs. Mr. Debs received both his Certificate of Industrial Design and Bachelor of Industrial Design Degree from Pratt Institute of Art and his Master of Science Degree, Interior Design from Florida State University. He began his teaching career at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1966 and joined the University of Georgia Faculty in 1986 where he was Professor, Interior Design, Art Appreciation until his retirement. Mr. Debs served with the United States Marine Corps during WWII and attended Grace Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Viola Brown Debs of Watkinsville; sons John Paul Debs of Boone NC and Pierre Rena Debs of Los Angeles, CA; daughters Tina Marie Erwin of San Diego, Ca and Andrea Roseann Harris of Virginia Beech, VA; step children Jeff Lee and Melissa Sanders of Watkinsville; Craig Lee of Auburn, Ga and Tracey E. Evans, of Athens; sister Nadia Capp of Columbus; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1PM Thursday, May 5, 2005, at the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Strickland and Rev. Darrell Pruitt officiating. The family will receive friends at Bernstein from 7-9PM Wednesday. Emerson M. Smith
HENDERSON — Funeral services for Emerson M. Smith, 83, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20 in Henderson Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Coody-Berryhill cemetery in Cochran.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Unadilla has charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Smith died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, in an area nursing home.
Frankie Mae Hill
ABBEVILLE — Funeral services for Frankie Mae Hill, 100, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 in the chapel of Nance & Sons Mortuary in Cordele.
The Rev. Authur James Nance will officiate and burial will follow in the Mt. Air Baptist Church cemetery in Hawkinsville.
Ms. Hill died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at her residence. She was born March 25, 1906, and was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Hill Sr., three children, Andrew Hill, Frances Miller and Dorothy Early, and a sister, Diana Brazier.
Survivors include her children, Rosie Mae Drane, widow of Andrew Hill and Annie Ruth Hill, both of Miami, Fla., Pearlie (William) Jackson of Columbia, S.C., Steve (Betty) Hill Jr. and Alice Davis of Abbeville, Lois Everson of West Palm Beach, Fla., Bertha Allen of Valdosta, Ruby Roberts of Decatur, and Richard (Pete) Hill of Charlotte, N.C., and Miami, Fla.; 52 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

CORDELE — Funeral services for Earlene Lee McKenzie, 78, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 in the sanctuary of New Oak Grove Baptist Church.
The Rev. Authur James Nance will officiate and burial will follow in Bethel City Cemetery.
Mrs. McKenzie died Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, in Coliseum Medical Centers in Macon. She was born April 27, 1929, and was preceded in death by her parents, J.C. and Gussie Dawson, a brother, W.C. Dawson, and a grandson, Anthony Walker.
Survivors include her companion, Clarence Blinknell of Cordele; five children, Rosie (Terry) McKenzie, Edward McKenzie, Eddie Lee McKenzie Jr., George (Annie) McKenzie and Lula McKenzie, all of Cordele; three sisters, Wynette Jordan of Cordele, Mary White and Lois Brown, both of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, James (Carolyn) Dawson of Oakland, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Niesha McKenzie, Erica McKenzie, Kilesha McKenzie, Nikko Dean, Eddie (Glenda) Hicks, Charles (Sherrie) McKenzie, Jimmy (Sonya) McKenzie and Renalda McKenzie all of Cordele; a granddaughter-in-law, Nicole Walker of Killen, Texas; three devoted friends, Evelyn Gibbs of Vienna, Patricia Paul and Shatoria Curry, both of Cordele; and a host of other relatives and friends.

George Pierce Postell, 85, of Shady Glade Place, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2005.
A native of Birmingham, Alabama Mr. Postell was a retired engineer from Westclock. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Mae Chapell Postell, and his children, George Postell, Jr., Jack Postell and Ethel Postell Schuler.
Survivors include grandchildren, Deshon Williams, Sarah Johnson, Stephen Johnson, Beth Baker, all of Athens, Nicole Postell and Christopher Postell of Orlando, FL; great-grandchildren, Ashley Baker, Abby Williams, and Jackie Postell.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 31 at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery with the Rev. Luther Fouche officiating. The family will be receiving friends Sunday, January 30 from 6:00 to 8:00 at Bernstein Funeral Home.

A native of Newton County, Mrs. Pope was a daughter of the late John Thomas and Lema Stubbs Johnson. Her husband, Howard Daniel Pope, preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and an active member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, Henry Daniel Pope of Forest Park, GA; daughters and sons-in-law: Mae Dolores and Kenneth Dowlen of Fort Worth, TX, Linda and John Verschuren of Athens, Christy Loraine and Charles Ray Howard, Sr. of Forest Park, GA; sister, Mary Helen Butler of Covington; grandchildren: Lisa McGuire, Chad Casey, Charles Ray Howard, Jr., James Daniel Howard, Brian Pope; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2004 in Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Dowlen, the Rev. Bill Ricketts and the Rev. John Verschuren officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Forest Park, GA at 3:00 p.m.
