CORDELE - Funeral services were held for Joe Raines at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at Ebenezer Baptist Church. The Rev. Fred Jones and the Rev. Thurmond Collins officiated the service. Burial followed in the Ebenezer Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Billy Nipper assisting.
Barbara Brysh, pianist, and Gail Smith, organist, played before and after the service. They also accompanied Kim French as she led the congregational singing of “Amazing Grace.” Cory Clark sang “If I Could Only Imagine” to a prerecorded soundtrack.
Pallbearers were William Culpepper, Bubba Smith, Jared Worthy, Justin Nelson, Philip Walls and Craig Perry.

PINEHURST — Funeral services for Mary Celia Williams of Pinehurst were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services with Dr. Dee Shelnutt and the Rev. Tom Teate officiating.
Neil Joiner, pianist, played “O God Our Help In Ages Past” as the family entered the chapel. He accompanied Kay Williams as she sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and the congregation as they sang “How Great Thou Art.” “Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee” was played as the recessional.
Pallbearers were Carl F. Williams IV, John S. Williams Jr., John S. Williams III, Gene Clifton, Tony Clifton and Royce Cross.

COLUMBUS — Funeral services for Carol Renee Lunsford of Columbus will be held today, Jan. 28 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services.
Eva Lou Trice
VIENNA — Funeral services for Eva Lou Trice, 66, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3 in Bethlehem Baptist Church in Dooling. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Aaron Bandy will officiate the services.
Miss Trice died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, in Crisp Regional Hospital.
Born in Dooly County, she received her education in the Dooly County School System. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She moved to Florida as a teenager and returned to live in Vienna in 2004.
Survivors include her mother, Eloise Brown; her step-father, Frank Brown of Cordele; three brothers, Levi (Betsy) Trice Jr. of Rivera Beach, Fla., James Lamar (Ruby) Dunson of Ft. Walton, Fla., and Charles Dunson of Belle Glade, Fla.; two sisters, Barbara Jean Leggett of Unadilla, and Willie Maye Lucas of Vienna; a devoted cousin, Mary Federick of Dooling; and a host of other relatives.

1929-2005
Watkinsville, GA
Jack McDaniel, 75, of Echo Trail in Watkinsville, passed away on Thursday January 13, 2005.
A native of Brunswick, he was the son of the late Adonia Earl and Marie Screws McDaniel, Sr. of Brunswick. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Brunswick and did masonry work for a number of years.
In addition to his wife, Louise McDaniel, he is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Danaria and Don Jesweak of Bogart; and daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Mark Taylor of Waynesville; 2 brothers, A. E. McDaniel, Jr. of Brunswick and Jerry D. McDaniel of Jesup; 2 sisters, Patricia Carr of Lawrenceville and India Ballinger of Brunswick; and 8 grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, January 16, 2005 at Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel in Athens, GA with the Rev. Mark Taylor officiating. iIntermentwill follow at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery in Athens.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Flanders, Jerry McDaniel, Jr., John Gillespie, Byron Flanders, Glenn Doster, Fred Cartey and Homer Hansford.

CORDELE — Funeral services for Daisy Bell Davis Jones will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3 in the sanctuary of Shady Grove Bbaptist Church. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Her nephew, Minister Julius Davis, will officiate the services.
Mrs. Jones died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007.
Survivors include her son, Oscar Jones of Cordele; four grandchildren, Cassandra (Arthur) Jackson and Michelle West of Cordele, Barry Jones of Dallas, Texas, and Marcus Jones of Tallahassee, Fla.; eight great-grandchildren, Lakesha West of Hinesville, Jessica (Lafabian) Coleman, Shaquetta Jones, Ayesha West, Shameka Jackson and Shanteria “Kedy” Jackson all of Cordele, Syreeta (Ernest III) Cooper of Savannah and Jaylon Jones of Arkansas; seven great-great-grandchildren, Tiara Lowe, Khalieh Lowe, Mekhia Lowe, A’jaden West, Ja’Quavion Jackson, A’jameyon West and Jayv’yn Cooper; and a devoted nephew, Minister Julius (Susan) Davis of Miami, Fla.

William A. ‘Tiny’ Gregory
VIENNA — Funeral services for William A. “Tiny” Gregory, 84, will be held at 3 p.m. today, Jan. 7 in the chapel of Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home in Vienna. Burial will follow in the Vienna City cemetery with military honors. Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Vienna has charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Gregory died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2007, at his residence.
Nelle Hill Sullivan
BYROMVILLE — Funeral services for Nelle Hill Sullivan, 81, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Jan. 30 in the Byromville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Edwin Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Vienna City Cemetery.
Mrs. Sullivan died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, in the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.
A native of Dooly County, Mrs. Sullivan was born on Jan. 24, 1926, to the late Bamon F. Hill and Eunice Morgan Hill of Byromville. She graduated from Byromville High School and what was then Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville with a bachelors degree in secondary education.
Mrs. Sullivan began her teaching career at the former Dooly High School in the Tippettville Community and later taught English, history and math at both Macon County High and Junior High Schools. She was a member of Byromville United Methodist Church where she was active in the Loyalty Sunday School Class, the TLC prayer group and United Methodist Women.
She is survived by her daughter, Peggy King and her husband, Raymond of Vienna; her son, Randy Sullivan and his wife, Charlene of Alpharetta; a brother, Bamon Lee Hill and his wife, Ruth of Byromville; two grandsons, Jason Sullivan, a student at Savannah College of Arts and Design, and Jeremy Sullivan of Alpharetta; three sisters-in-law, Edna Sullivan of Byromville, Earline Smith of Warwick and Helen Clark of Orlando, Fla.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family has requested that memorial gifts be made to Byromville UMC, P.O. Box 147, Byromville, Ga., 31007 or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Michael A. Queen
1970-2004
Athens, GA - Michael Alan Queen, 33, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2004.
A native of Fulton County, Michael was born September 27, 1970, to Alfred Lee and Patricia Ann Brigman Queen. He attended Hope Haven and was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to his parents are his brother, Christopher Lee Queen of Cleveland, OH; grandmother, Mary Teal of Thomaston, GA; and a host of loving family and friends.

Norman K. McKinley
PERRY — Norman K. McKinley, 83, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007 in a local nursing home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1 in the Perry Presbyterian Church with interment in Union Baptist Church cemetery in Wilcox County.
The family will receive friends at the residence on Sunset Avenue.
A native of Wilcox County, he was the son of the late Midas L. and Ola Faircloth McKinley. He had lived most of his life in Perry. A World War II Army PFC Veteran, he was in the Normandy Invasion on Utah Beach, the Battle of the Bulge, and the Occupation of Berlin. Mr. McKinley was a retired civil servant, a member of VFW, the DAV, and a member of the Perry Presbyterian Church, where he was the former chairman of the Board of Deacons, and was a member of the Men’s Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Louise W. McKinley of Perry; three sons, Michael Lee McKinley (Carolyn) of Warm Springs, Russell A. McKinley (Lynn), and Ken McKinley, both of Perry; grandchildren, Scott McKinley, Molly McKinley Farmer (Brandon), Matthew A. McKinley and Kelly McKinley.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Keith McKinley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Perry Presbyterian Church Building Fund.

Myrtle Marie Mathis
PENSACOLA, Fla. — A graveside service for Myrtle Marie Mathis, 76, of Pensacola, Fla. will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2 at Shiloh Methodist Church cemetery in Dooly County.
Mrs. Mathis died at Rosewood Manor in Pensacola Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007.
She was born Tuesday, April 15, 1930, in Dooly County and was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Akins and Claudia Estelle Brown Akins.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Jones of Lillian, Ala., and Kathy Todd of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; and a daughter-in-law, Marie Mathis of Americus.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Mathis.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service Friday from 12 p.m. until time to depart for the cemetery.

A memorial service for Florrie Elizabeth Hightower, age 84, formerly of Cordele, Ga. will be held Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 11 a.m. at R. T. Patterson Funeral Home, Lilburn, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her husband Louis Hightower, Jr., brothers Lewis L. Hargrove Jr. and W. Gerry Hargrove Sr. Survivors include Fran Hargrove, Cornelia Hargrove, Harry and Mary Hargrove and many nieces and nephews.
