James E. "Buddy" Hall
James E. "Buddy" Hall, 38, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at his father's residence. He was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area. Buddy managed Rock Creek Sausage Co. and was a great athlete at Northwest Georgia High School in Trenton, Ga., and competed in athletic events in Chattanooga and North Georgia. He was a member of Crawfish Spring Masonic Lodge #300 F&AM and was an avid softball player, playing in both Chattanooga and North Georgia. Buddy also was an avid golfer, marksman and hunter. He shot competition bow in Chattanooga and was a member of the Georgia Cattlemen's Association. Buddy was preceded in death by his mother, Burlene Hall.
Survivors are fiancee, Susan E. Barnett, Chattanooga; father, James W. Hall, and his girlfriend, Lois A. Gladden, both of Lookout Mountain, Ga.; brother, Ted A. Hall, Louisiana; sister, Rebecca J. Moore, Lookout Mountain, Ga.; and niece, Megan A. Hall.

Charles Arthur Holt Jr.
Charles Arthur Holt Jr., age 79, of Athens, TN.; died of Alzheimers on Wednesday, May 29, 2002 in Athens, TN. Mr. Holt was a resident of the Chattanooga area for over 30 years. He served many years as a minister of the Gospel in MS, GA, TN, AL, and TX. He was retired from T.V.A. as a personnel director and was a graduate of U.T.C. of Chattanooga, where he received his Master's and Bachelor's degrees. He was the son of the late Charles A. and Laura Gladys Holt. Charles touched many lives and leaves behind a legacy of love.
He is survived by his wife, Jewel Sanders Holt of Athens, TN., and children, Richard and Diane Holt of Tampa, Fl., Tena and Carrol Deaton of Lufkin, TX., Tony and Julie Holt of Chattanooga, Julie Holt and William Bowers of Athens, TN.; brother, Jack Holt of Tyler, TX.; sister, Frances Holt Farmin of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; cousin, Charlene Shoop of Lufkin, TX.; 11 Grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 03, 2002 at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Terry Gardner and Art Thompson officiating. William “Bill” C. Davis
William “Bill” C. Davis; age 75, of Chattanooga, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at a local hospital. Mr. Davis was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and was of the Methodist faith. He was a graduate of Tyner High School and was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He was retired from the Dupont Corp. with 42 years of service. He played softball for Dupont and Wesley Memorial for many years, and was a member of the Dupont Bowling League and the REA Bowling League for many years. He was an avid fisherman and was the son of the late James W. Davis Sr. and Babe Clark Davis. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sister, James W. Davis Jr. and Robert I. Davis and Virginia Lee Davis Morgan.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Smith Davis; daughters and son-in-laws, Tressa and Donald Bain and Karen and Ron Newman; brothers, Charles E. and Jack C. Davis; sisters, Mabel Davis Ryon and Mary Kate Davis Singleton, grandchildren, Stacey Jackson, Adrian Martin, Kris Bain, and Chasta Newman Burke, all of Chattanooga; 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday at 3 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ted Painter officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or the Cancer Foundation in Mr. Davis’s honor. James A. "Jim" Jernigan
James A. "Jim" Jernigan, 66, of Chattanooga died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, in a local hospital. He worked for Partners for Economic Progress and the Private Industry Council. He served on the board of the Southeast Local Development Corp. A member of the Chattanooga Jaycees, he is credited with starting a "roadblock" fund-raiser for a woman who had to travel to Nashville for kidney dialysis treatment. His dedication to that effort ultimately planted the seed for the formation of the Kidney Foundation of Greater Chattanooga.
He was an active communicant of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and served on the Vestry. He also was a member of the Saturday Lunch Club at Wally's Restaurant. Born in Chattahoochee, Fla., Jim made Chattanooga his home many years ago and attended the University of Chattanooga. Family members who preceded him in death were his parents, Emory Mercer Jernigan and Mattie Ferrell Jernigan; and sister, Naomi Jernigan Crowell.
He is survived by his wife, Marguerite "Maggie"; daughter and son in-law, Mardi and Ron Boone; brothers, Emory Joseph Jernigan of Virginia and Thomas Gerald Jernigan of Homosassa, Fla.; and sister, Mattie Lee Pittman of Marianna, Fla.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, June 4, at noon at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 305 W. Seventh St. downtown, with the Rev. H. Hunter Huckabay Jr. officiating. Committal of ashes will immediately follow in the memorial garden at the church. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 11 a.m. prior to the service. Mary Louise Chapman Brown
Mary Louise Chapman Brown, 90, Tullahoma, Tenn., died Thursday, December 5, 2002, in a local hospital. She was a native of Chattanooga and had lived in Tullahoma since 1952. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Tullahoma First Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, William Looker Brown. Survivors include her son, Edward Chapman Brown, Chattanooga; two grandchildren, Edward Chapman Brown Jr., Wheaton, Ill., and Lisa Brown Hayes, Nashville, Tenn.; two great-grandchildren, Thomas Cooper Hayes and William Brown Hayes, both of\ Nashville, Tenn. Roy Lee Sizemore, Jr.
Roy Lee Sizemore, Jr. 72, Chickamauga, died Wednesday, December 4, 2002, at his home. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 23 years of service and from T.V.A. after several years of service. Mr. Sizemore was a member of the Ridgecrest Baptist Church where he served as the Sunday School Superintendent. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Sizemore. Elvin Vandergriff, 89, Rossville, formerly of Signal Mountain, died Sunday, February 9, 2003, in a local hospital. He was a retired coal miner and a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in World War II. Mr. Vandergriff was preceded in death by a son, Herman Vandergriff and a brother Jack Henry. Lidge Bill Bane Jr.
Lidge Bill Bane Jr., 77, of Hixson, Tenn., died Friday March 28, 2003, in a local health care facility following an extended illness. Born in Seco, Kentucky, in 1925, he served three tours of duty with the U. S. Navy in World War II. Following his discharge from military service, he moved to Chattanooga where he lived most of his life. He operated his own concrete construction company for several years before retiring from the City of Chattanooga Public Works Department. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maggie Bane Carson, father, Lidge Bill Bane Sr., step-father, Tom Carson, and sister Imogene Clay. Vernold S. Barker, 89, of Chattanooga died June 2, 2003 in a local health care center. A longtime resident of Chattanooga, he was a master watchmaker and was former owner of Brainerd Hills Jewelers and also Kirby’s Drive-in- Cleaners. A veteran of the U. S. Navy, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Barker. Hubert Eason
Hubert Eason, 91, of Ringgold, died Sunday, June 1, 2003 in a local hospital. Mr. Eason served his country during World War II as a U. S. Marine. Injured during the retaking of Saipan, he was awarded the Silver Star for bravery above and beyond. Mr. Eason worked at Peerless Woolen Mills before and after the war and was a member of their baseball team. When Peerless closed, he went into the landscaping business and continued this work until he retired. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Augustus Eason and Naomi Jane Martin Eason. Survivors include his wife of 64 ½ years, Mary Sue Spears Eason; one son, John David Eason, Pikeville, Tenn.; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth White, Hixson, Tenn., two granddaughters, Lisa S. Bales, Sara K. Doris Laughter “Granny” Garner
Doris Laughter “Granny” Garner, 82, passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 1, 2003. She was born in Hernando, Mississippi, on February 27, 1921. Mrs. Garner was a resident of the Eastdale area and Chattanooga Tennessee since the early 1940’s. and was a waitress at Gulas Restaurant for over 40 years. She was a devoted mother of two daughters, Barbara Garner Baker, Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., and Bonnie and David Franks, Clarksville, Tenn.; and was the grandmother of three grandchildren, James and Lisa Franks, Ronald Joey Franks and Tracy Daniella Baker.; sister, Jimmye Brotbeck, Chattanooga, Tenn. James Harrison Narey II
James Harrison Narey II, 61, of Ringgold, died Saturday in an Atlanta Hospital. He was a resident of the North Georgia area for the past 20 years, and was a member and Elder of First Christian Church. Jim was a graduate of Auburn University, and worked in Mental Health in Georgia for over 30 years. He had been an active member of the Humane Society of Catoosa County, and was a lifetime member of the Optimist Club International. He was a member of the Chattanooga/LaFayette Emmaus Community. He lovingly adopted through the years many exchange and international families. He will be missed by Gabriel, his beloved Schnauzer. Survivors are his wife, Sharon Bishop Narey; brother, Wayne Narey, Jonesboro, Arkansas; two sisters, Pat Dwyer, Brentwood, Tenn. and Kay (Charlie) Walton, Lilburn, Georgia; in-laws, Hubert and Rebecca Bishop; sister-in-law, Gwen Simmons, of Valdosta, Ga.; and very special nieces and nephews. Charles “Swede” Esloon
Charles “Swede” Esloon, 67, of Rossville, died Sunday morning in a local hospital. He lived most of his life in Ringgold, and was a Korean War Veteran. He served with several posts throughout the State with the Georgia State Patrol. His last position with the State was Captain of Safety Education for North Georgia. He was commander of security for the 1988 Democratic Convention in Atlanta. He served as Post Commander for the LaFayette Post, and served as Adjutant for the Colonel of the Georgia State Patrol. He received several commendations throughout the State of Georgia. He is survived by two sons, Chuck Esloon, Tyrone, Georgia, Chip Esloon, Ft. Oglethorpe; two grandchildren, Ryan and Casey Esloon, both of Tyrone, Georgia. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2003 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Clarence Eugene (Gene) Pearson
Clarence Eugene (Gene) Pearson, 67, of Chickamauga, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, in a local hospital. He was a longtime resident of North Georgia and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Pearson worked at Chattanooga Glass Company where he retired after 39 years. He also worked at Anchor Glass in Warner Robbins, Ga., for eight years. Mr. Pearson was a veteran of the U. S. Army and was an avid Alabama and NASCAR fan. He had been married
for 43 years and was a loving father and husband. Rachel Walker Green, of Rossville, passed away, Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at her home after a long illness. She was a member of the Rossville Church of Christ and retired from Erlanger Hospital. Ruby W. Holcomb
Ruby W. Holcomb, 90, of Fort Oglethorpe, died Friday, June 13, 2003, in a local health care facility. She was a lifelong resident of North Georgia and a member of Lakeview First Baptist Church and the T.E.L. Sunday School Class. Mrs. Holcomb was a member of the OES Pocahontas Chapter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton H. Holcomb, and daughter, Dolores Nolen. Survivors are son, Ben Holcomb, Chattanooga; brother, Paul H. William, Hixson; sisters, Bunny Clark, Anna Grace Shell, both of Ringgold, Nellie Ruth Novak, Cleveland, Tenn.; grandchildren, Douglas M. Dempsey, Bel Air Maryland, Christina Mah, Newark, Delaware; six great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Pascal Lawrence Latuso
Pascal Lawrence Latuso, 92, died Wednesday, June 11, 2002, in a local nursing home. He was the son of the late Joseph A. and Rose Gambino Latuso. He spent most of his life in New Orleans, La. before moving to Chattanooga 15 years ago. He was a former member of Carrollton United Methodist Church in New Orleans, La. and was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, Chattanooga. He was the owner of L & L Fine Foods in New Orleans, La. Survived by his daughter, Maggie Jernigan, Chattanooga; son and daughter-in-law, Pat L. and Janet Latuso, Ruston, La.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2003 in Chattanooga Memorial Park with Rev. Dale Gilbert officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or your favorite charity. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Horne, George Henry Jr. age 69 of East Ridge died June 13, 2006 at a local hospital. He was retired sales representative for Delta-Jay Enterprises, a veteran of the US Navy. He was a member of VFW, American Legion, Elks Club and a Mason. Surviving relatives; Daughter, Beth A. Dudley of Fountain Hills, Ariz. Sister, Marsha Frakes of Norfolk, Virg. Mr. Horne donated his remains to the UT Anatomical Bequest Program. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 12 noon at the East Ridge Retirement Center at 1417 Mack Smith Road. Walter Paul Young Jr., 73, Ringgold, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006, in a local hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and North Georgia and was a Baptist. Mr. Young was a self-employed salesman and worked hard to supply the needs of his family. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janie Cavin. Survivors are wife, Rosalie Young; sons, Edward and Charles Young; grandsons, Charles Paul Young Jr. and David Young; granddaughters, Tammy Louise Young, Stacy Harmon, all of Ringgold; six great-grandchildren.
