SYCAMORE — Funeral services for Ruby Searcy Barry, 99, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7 in the Bethel Baptist Church in Turner County. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Perry Funeral Chapel of Ashburn has charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Barry died Thursday, April 5, 2007, at her residence following a brief illness.
Howard (Buddy) Dillard
1946-2004
Athens, GA
Howard L. (Buddy) Dillard, 58, died Tuesday, July 27, 2004.
A native of Cochran, GA, Buddy was a son of Josie Kate Dillard and the late Reuben H. Dillard. He was a graduate of Cochran High School. He attended the Air Force Academy and graduated from the University of Georgia. He started Dillard Realty in 1976 and continued as its President until his death. During his career, he served as President of the Athens Board of Realtors, President of Clarke Central Touchdown Club, and Alumni Advisor for the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He was a member and avid supporter of the Athens YMCA. Buddy recently received the Life Time Meritorious Service Award from the Athens Area Association of Realtors and the Order of Merit from the Lambda Chi Alpha National Fraternity. In April of this year, the Fitness Center at the Athens YMCA was dedicated to Buddy in honor of his long time support of the youth programs and strong dedication to fitness.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Mickey Dillard; sons: Andy and Joey Dillard; brother, Larry Dillard; sister-in-law, Reesie Dillard; niece and nephew: Amanda and John Michael Dillard; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Emmit and Becky Renfroe of Statesboro; and niece and nephew, Trey and Emily Renfroe.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2004 in the Chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Wednesday at Bernstein Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to the Athens YMCA for the Buddy Dillard Scholarship Fund for the Youth, 915 Hawthorne Avenue, Athens, GA 30606.

Julius Edward Boston Sr.
VIENNA — Funeral services for Julius Edward Boston Sr. will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7 in the sanctuary of Bethel Baptist Church in Vienna. Burial will follow in the Vienna City Cemetery. Dr. Bobby G. West will officiate the services.
Mr. Boston died Thursday, March 29, 2007 in Crisp Regional Hospital.
Born March 17, 1953, he was a lifelong resident of Dooly County and was preceded in death by his parents, the late Annie Ruth Boston and Ben Boston Sr.
Survivors include six sons, LaDerrick (Michelle) Boston Sr., Irvin Bernard Boston and Octavius (Cinderella) Ellis of Cordele, Kinda (Sheena) Jones, Julius Boston Jr. and Michael Boston of Vienna; four daughters, Patrona (Cedric) Young, Virginia Boston, Kimberly Phillips and Kimberly Dawson all of Vienna; a brother, Ben Derrick Boston of Vienna; five aunts, Louise Boston, Frankie Mae West and Lean Walker all of Vienna, Elnora Boston and Carrie (Garland) Pritchett both of Detroit, Mich.; two nieces, Melody Jackson of Montezuma, and Ronesseia Jackson of Decatur; a special cousin, the Rev. Leonard Boston of Vienna; two special friends, James Wise and Gwendolyn Paul of Cordele; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

ABBEVILLE — Funeral services for the Rev. Mike Wilcox, 49, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7 in Antioch Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery. Mr. Wilcox died Wednesday, April 4, 2007, in Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville.

Mr. Boston died on March 29, 2007 at the Crisp Regional Hospital.
Mr. Boston was born March 7, 1953, and was most recently a resident of a local nursing home, but was a lifelong resident of Dooly County. He is preceded in death by his wife, Edwina Boston, father, Ben Boston Sr., and a brother, William Darnell Boston.
Surviving him are four daughters, Virginia Boston, Kimberly Phillips, LaTonya Brown and Kimberly Dawson, and one step-daughter, Patrona Jones, all of Vienna; six sons, La Derrick (Michelle) Boston Sr., Irvin Bernard (Latre) Boston, and Octavius (Cinderella) Ellis, all of Cordele, Kinda (Sheena) Jones, Julius Boston Sr., and Micheal Boston, all of Vienna; a loving mother, Annie Ruth Boston of Vienna; one brother, Ben Derrick Boston of Vienna; five aunts, Louise Boston, Frankie Mae West, and Athlene Walker, all of Vienna, and Elnora Boston and Carrie (Garland) Pritchett, both of Detroit, Mich.; two nieces, Melody Jackson of Montezuma, and Ronesseia Jackson of Decatur; two special cousins, Rev. Leonard (Lucille) Boston and Virginia Mumphery of Vienna; three close friends, James Wise and Gwendolyn Paul, both of Cordele, and Freda Mathis of Vienna; 21 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of other cousins, relatives, and many sorrowing friends.

Arnold Lewis Oxyer
CORDELE — Funeral services for Arnold Lewis Oxyer of Cordele will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Service. iIntermentwill follow at 2 p.m. at Andersonville National cemetery in Andersonville.
Mr. Oxyer died at his residence Friday, April 6, 2007.
He was born Friday, Aug. 13, 1937 in Beards Fork, W.Va., and was the son of the late William and Carrie Liford Oxyer. Mr. Oxyer was a veteran of the United States Air Force and attended Amazing Grace Baptist Church. He was a retired mobile home installer.
He is survived by wife, Rozelle Roberson Oxyer of Leesburg; three sons and their mother, Charles Todd Oxyer of Perry, James Clayton Oxyer and Terry Lewis Oxyer, both of Maryville, Tenn., and Grace Oxyer of Vienna; two step-sons, James D. Hawkins of Ellijay, and Donald P. Hawkins of Virginia Beach, Va.; a step-daughter, Sandra Rozelle Lawson of Leesburg; a foster daughter, Ciretha Wilson of Sylvester; one sister, Priscilla Harder of Canton, Ohio; grandchildren, Matthew Ryan Oxyer, Taylor Leigh Oxyer, Cody Mann, Andy Mann, Britteny Oxyer, Siera Rozelle Hawkins, Christina Diane Hawkins, Lacy Cheyenne Lee, James D Hawkins III, and Mary Nichole Hawkins; and foster grandchildren, Eddie Harpe, Shane Harpe and Nicole White.

Wilfred Jackson Hughey
CORDELE- Funeral services for Mrs. Wilfred Jackson Hughey, 68, will be conducted today at 3:30 p. m. in the sanctuary of St. Paul Presbyterian Church in Cordele with Elder Oweta Hegaman officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery.
Mrs. Hughey died Wednesday at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
She is survived by two adopted sisters, Rhondalyn (Anthony) West and Brenda (Oscar) Ford both of Cordele; an adopted son, Leroy Crane of Cordele; two adopted grandchildren; her devoted friends, Ann Adams Wilcox, Pearle P. Booker, Hattie Pearl Walker, Sherifat Oulafade, Ida Rose Oliver, Vera Lane; her St. Paul Presbyterian Church Family and her Class of 1956 Classmates.

ABBEVILLE - Jeff Dominy, 49 passed away Saturday, April 14, 2007 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 16 at 2 p.m. in the M. G. Frazier Memorial Chapel of Frazier & Son Funeral Home.

ALBANY - Leola Shell Widner, 78, died Friday, April 13, 2007 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted today, April 15 at 2 p.m. from Mathews Funeral Home in Albany.

A native of Arcadia, FL, Mrs. Widner had resided in Albany since 1967 and also had lived in Macon and Cordele. She was a retired telephone operator with Southern Bell and attended Harvest Temple Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin Melvin Widner.

Mr. Coley died Friday, April 6, 2007.

J. Wesley Campbell
1914-2004
Athens, GA
James Wesley Campbell, 90, of 755 Epps Bridge Parkway passed away Saturday, August 7, 2004 after a brief illness.
A native of Centerville, GA, Mr. Campbell was the son of the late James Wesley Campbell, Sr. and Grady Slaughter Campbell. His wife, Edith Fletcher Campbell preceded him in death. He lived many years in Rossville, GA while employed with the TVA for 35 years. Following retirement he moved to Conyers. Mr. Campbell was an avid gardener and Braves fan. While in Centerville he was a member of the Rockbridge Baptist Church and later a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Rossville.
Survivors include two sons: James Campbell of St. Simons Island and Glenn Campbell of Athens; and seven grandchildren: James’ children: Scott, Steve, and Bradley Campbell and Glenn’s children: Gary, Paige, Cassie Campbell and Melissa Campbell Rowe.
Memorial Services will be held 3:30 p.m. Saturday, August 14, 2004 at Eternal Hills Funeral Home Chapel in Snellville, GA with the Rev. Bruce Wyatt officiating.

James ‘Bud’ Dalrymple
SYCAMORE — Funeral services for James “Bud” Dalrymple, 73, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 12 in Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Seville cemetery in Wilcox County.
Mr. Dalrymple died Tuesday, April 10, 2007, in a Macon hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Wilcox County, he was the son of the late James Stafford and Bertha Mae Crumley Dalrymple. He had resided in Turner County since 1968 and was the owner of Bud’s Tire and Wrecker Service. He had been in the wrecker business since 1967, was an avid fisherman and was a member of Seville Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie Davis Dalrymple of Sycamore; his sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Tammy Dalrymple of Sycamore, and Larry and Jayne Dalrymple of Ashburn; his grandchildren, Amy Pierce, Barry Dalrymple and Danielle Dalrymple; a great-grandson, Ashton Pierce; and a sister, Ann Parker of Seville.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ferrell Dixon Knott
CORDELE — Funeral services for Ferrell Dixon Knott, 81, of Cordele will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2007 at Cordele First United Methodist Church. iIntermentwill follow at Cedar Creek cemetery in Crisp County. Mr. Knott died at Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany Monday, April 9, 2007. A native of Crisp County, he was the son of the late Thomas Clifton and Ethel Dixon Knott. Mr. Knott was retired from the United States Army and had served during World War II. He was a member of Cordele First United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was also an active member of the Cordele Lions Club, the VFW and the Bagdad Club. Mr. Knott is survived by his wife, Annette Knott of Cordele; two sons and their wives, Ronald H. and Joyce Knott of Rock Hill, SC and Ferrell Danny and Tess Knott of Cordele; a sister, Mary Nan Braswell of Sylvester; ten grandchildren, Karey Downie and her husband, Kyle, Lucas R. Knott, Gabriel S. Knott, Phillip Knott, Danon Knott, Azyah Knott, Ellen Gruber and her husband, Conrad, Richard Chavez and his wife, Jan, Trey Knight and Sondra Chavez; and seven great-grandchildren, Chelsea Downie, Leah Downie, Brianna Chavez, Bianca Chavez, McKenzie Gruber, Sebastian Gruber and Carlee Rojas. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Clifton Knott and James Raymond Knott.
