Thomas F. Lilly
VIENNA — Graveside services for Thomas F. Lilly will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12 at the Vienna City Cemetery. Dr. Bobby G. West will officiate the services.
Mr. Lilly died Saturday, May 5, 2007.
Educated in Dooly County, Mr. Lilly attended Fort Valley State College and attended school to learn to bake and cook. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired from Warner Robins Air Force Base as a Civil Service supervisor. He was a member of Mt. Zion CME Church and the Masonic Lodge. He was the widower of the late Marie Turner Lilly, whom he was married
to for 60 years.
Survivors include a son, James (Valeria) Brown of Vienna; a sister, Dorothy Weaver of Miami, Fla.; a niece whom he reared, Carolyn Smith of Oklahoma City, Okla.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to include a special granddaughter, Valencia Hamilton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Martha Faye Wade
CORDELE — Funeral services for Martha Faye Wade of Cordele will be held at 2 p.m. today, May 4 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Zion Hope cemetery in Crisp County.
Mrs. Wade, 49, died at her residence Wednesday, May 2, 2007.
She was a native of Crisp County and the daughter of the late Lonnie Thurston and Anna Louise Brown Rooks. She was a homemaker and a member of Oakfield Baptist Church.
Mrs. Wade is survived by her children and their spouses, Regina and Doc Wade, Henry and Jean Hitson and Anna and Richard Holder, all of Cordele, and Susie and Terrell Brown of Ashburn; two sisters, Katherine Rooks of Vienna, and Brenda Payne of Rochelle; a brother, David Rooks of Vienna; grandchildren, Kyle Wade, Haley Wade, Dylan Wade, Nikki Grimes, Hope Hitson, Will Hitson, Lexi Hitson, Austin Hitson, Brittany Hitson, Jessica Johnson, Cheyenne Brown and Sabrina Brown; five step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doc Wade Sr.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from noon until the hour of the service.

Ruth Benfield Vincent
(June 30, 1922 - July 26, 2011)
Ms. Ruth Benfield Vincent, age 89, of Cedartown, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2011. She was born on June 30, 1922 in Cedartown; she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter and Stella Austin Benfield.
Ms. Vincent is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Judy V. Buckner and John; two grandchildren, Karen Heykens, of Jacksonville, FL and Sharon Whitfield of Williamsburg, VA and six great-grandchildren.
Ms. Vincent is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oscar Craton “O.C” Vincent; sister, Margaret Davenport and brothers, C.V. Benfield, Jasper Benfield and J.T. Benfield.
The funeral for Ms. Vincent will be conducted on Sunday, July 31st at three o'clock in the afternoon at The First Baptist Church of Cedartown with Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating.

The family will receive family and friends on Sunday, July 31, 2011 from two o'clock in the afternoon until the funeral hour at The First Baptist Church.

Willie Brown
DOOLING — Funeral services for Willie Brown, 62, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5 in New Bethel Baptist Church in Dooling. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Church Cemetery. The Rev. Lewis Burden Sr. will officiate the services.
Mr. Brown died Wednesday, April 25, 2007, in Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
He was the son of the late Ed and Beulah Brown of Dooling and attended Dooly County Schools. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and had lived and worked in Florida before moving back to Dooly County.
Survivors include his children, Barbara (Arthur) Robinson of Belle Glade, Fla., Melvin J. (Verna) Holmes of Valdosta, and Bertha Kinsey of Homestead, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Charles Rubin Christmas
Charles Rubin Christmas, age 74, of Dushore, PA, died Thursday, in Dushore.
Born in Dooly County, he was the son of the late Elijah C. Christmas and Naomi Mollie Holmes Christmas. He was a US Air Force veteran, a member of Drayton Baptist Church, American Legion Post 202 and a retired farmer.
Survivors include a wife, Joyce G. Christmas of Dushore, PA; a son, Charles Rubin Christmas, Jr. of Vienna; daughters, Gay Bowden of Unadilla, Dawn Nipper and Heather Howard, both of Vienna, and Christy Christmas and Jamie Christmas, both of Brunswick; a sister, Ruth Turner of Vienna; 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.
His sister, Verna Mae Whittington, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Drayton Baptist Church with interment following in Lane Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

VIENNA — Funeral services for Rose S. Langston, 53, will be held at 5 p.m. today, May 15 in the chapel of Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Vienna. Burial will follow in the Vienna City Cemetery.

Mrs. Langston died Sunday, May 13, 2007 in an Albany hospital.
George Troup
HUGO, OK — Funeral services for George Troup, formerly of Cordele, will be held at 1 p.m. today, May 15 in the sanctuary of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Rochelle. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Bennie Jackson will officiate the services.
Mr. Troup died Sunday, May 6, 2007. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Dorothy Ellison Tumlin
(Died July 19, 2011)
Ms. Dorothy Ellison Tumlin of Blue Ridge, Georgia formerly of Cedartown, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 after a brief illness.
Dot was a long time employee of the Georgia Department of Labor.
Dot is survived by three daughters, Ellen T. White of Blue Ridge, GA, Jennie T. Visscher of Marietta, GA and Ann Tumblin Carnes of Los Angeles, CA and one granddaughter, Emma L. White of Blue Ridge, GA.
A memorial service honoring Dot's life will be conducted on Friday, July 22, 2011 at two o'clock in the afternoon in the sanctuary of the St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Blue Ridge, Georgia.

Emily Butler Perry
ASHBURN — Funeral services for Emily Butler Perry, 93, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19 in the Ashburn First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Perry died Monday, May 14, 2007 at her home following an extended illness.
The daughter of the late Jordan H. and Maude B. Butler, she was born in Dooly County and had lived in Turner County since 1930. She was the widow of the late Charles V. “Pelly” Perry, who died in 1988. A member of the Ashburn First Baptist Church for 60 years, she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years, Adult Choir and Children’s Choir Director, church organist and pianist. She was a member of the WMU and was past chairman of the Prayer Circle.
Mrs. Perry was a former public school music teacher in Sumner, and served as principal of the Old Hobby School in Turner County. She was the founder, owner and operator of the Happy Center Kindergarten for 22 years.
After the death of her husband, she served as president of Perry Funeral Chapel Inc. and continued in its service to the community until her health failed. She was a Georgia licensed funeral director for more than 55 years.
Mrs. Perry received the Golden Deed’s Award from the Turner County Exchange Club in 1974 and was named “Business Woman of the Year” in 1976. She was a member of the Ashburn-Turner County Chamber of Commerce and the Eastern Star for more than 60 years, where she served as Worthy Matron and State Grand Organist.
She was a member of the Knox-Conway Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, serving as chaplain. She was a member of the Primetimer’s and Keen Age Club.
She was well-known for her musical talents which she shared at countless weddings, funerals, club meetings and at the Ashburn Health Care Center for programs and entertainment. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout the United States and many foreign countries. She was affectionately known as “Gammy” to her family and many friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, George I. Butler in 1965, her son-in-law, Marion Jack See in 2001, and a granddaughter-in-law, Amanda McMillian Perry in 2005.
Survivors include her children, Elizabeth P. See, Charles B. (Barbara Ann) Perry, H. Paul (Brenda) Perry and Edgar F. (Darlene) Perry all of Ashburn; her grandchildren, Tonja P. (Kevin) Healey of Valdosta, Laurel E. See of Savannah, Charles H. “Bucky” Perry of Quitman, Charles Jackson See of Raleigh, N.C., Maj. Stephen E. See, USAF, of Turkey and his fiancee, Ashley E. Gully of Montgomery, Ala., Melissa A. “Missy” P. (Robbie) Eason of Lenox, Eilene Perry, Jonathan P. Perry, Ashley E. Perry and Matthew C. “Matt” Perry all of Ashburn, and his fiancee, Amanda Leach of Tifton; and her great-grandchildren, Cody W. and Caleb P. Healey of Valdosta, Charles McMillian “Mac” and Anna Caroline Perry of Quitman, Robert Jacob “Jake, ” Emily Katherine and Perry Lawrence Eason all of Lenox.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Leah Kathryn Moree
AMERICUS — A memorial service for Leah Kathryn Moree, 75, of Americus will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 18, at Vienna City Cemetery.
Ms. Moree died at her residence Tuesday, May 15, 2007.
She was born in Dooly County and was the daughter of the late William Charlie and Mildred Leah Harris Moree. Ms. Moree was a retired accountant.
She is survived by a brother, Edwin D. Moree of Vienna; and 11 nieces and nephews, Judy M. Wilkes, Pam Mullis, Darla Kelly, Tommy Moree and Jennifer Griggs, all of Vienna, Sandy Kelly of Americus, Eddie Moree, Billy Moree, Heather Moree and Michael Moree, all of Detroit, Mich., and Angie Bradley of Hohenwald, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Thomas Moree and Annie Ruth Kelly.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at the home of Pam Mullis, 1000 Drayton Loop, Vienna.
