Rodney Lee Pierce
(June 28, 1964 - July 27, 2011)

Mr. Rodney Lee Pierce, age 47, of Cedartown, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2011. He was born on June 28, 1964 in Rome, Georgia; he was the son of the late Mr. Burney Lee Pierce and Mrs. Laura Bell Allen Easterwood.

Mr. Pierce is survived his wife, Audrey Sloan Pierce; daughter, Sherry Pierce; son, Keith Pierce; step daughter, Heather Harding; step son, Nicholas Harding; grandchildren, Ryan Vines, Raychel Vines and Cain Vines; sisters, Charlene Davenport, Rhonda Poche, Deborah Hicks and Linda Jolly and brothers, James Allen, Ricky McElwee and Tony McElwee.

Mr. Pierce is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sherry Lynn Bailey.

In keeping with Mr. Pierce’s wishes he was cremated. A memorial/graveside service will be held for Mr. Pierce on Friday, July 29, 2011 at two o’clock in the afternoon in the Northview cemetery with Rev. Reginald Campbell officiating.

The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for Mr. Rodney Lee Pierce.

Arnie ‘Buddy’ Jones

CORDELE — Funeral services for Arnie “Buddy” Jones will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19 in the sanctuary of the New Oak Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. The Rev. W.W. Wilson will officiate the services.

Mr. Jones died Saturday, May 12, 2007.

Survivors include his children, Jessie Corbin of Atlanta, Lonnie (Cora) Jones of Macon, and Willie F. Wilson (Tasha) Jones of Cordele; his step-children, Johnnie Mae McKenzie, Dorothy (Waldale) Jackson, John Wills Jr. and Barbara Bly all of Cordele, and Lena Mae Bly of Tampa, Fla.; sisters, Fannie Mae James of Cordele, Mae Jessie Green and Bessie Mae (Pierce) Lewis of Philadelphia, Pa.; sisters-in-law, Liz Jones of Philadelphia, Pa., Alma Jones of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Mary Revere of Atlanta; a devoted granddaughter, Regina (John) Smith of Cordele; devoted nieces and nephews, Bobby Jones, Lonnel C. Jones and Louise (Tim) Hicks; 17 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

J.W. Williams Funeral Home of Cordele and Vienna has charge of the arrangements.

Steve Lamb

CORDELE-Steve Lamb, 46, of Cordele died Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany after an extended illness. Mr. Lamb is the husband of Marcye Raines Lamb and the son of Wayne Lamb. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Rainey Family Funeral Service.

Richard Stephen Lamb

CORDELE — Funeral services for Richard Stephen Lamb, 46, of Cordele will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 25 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Service. iIntermentwill follow at Sunnyside Cemetery.

Mr. Lamb died Monday, May 22, 2007 in Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.

Born in Crisp County, he was the son of Wayne Lamb and the late Opal Clark Powell. He was a driver for Road Way Trucking Company and a member of the Crisp County Sportsmen’s Club and the Teamsters Union. He was a member of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Lamb is survived by his wife, Marcye Raines Lamb of Cordele; his father and step-mother, Wayne and Joyce Lamb of Cordele; step-father, Terry Powell of Cordele; his sister and her husband, Valarie and James VanHoosen of Vienna; his mother-in-law, Eddie Raines of Cordele; his sister-in-law, Monica McMillan of Cordele; a step-sister, Sonya Pate of Cordele; four nephews, Gage McMillan of Cordele, Ben Vonier and his wife, Savannah, Joseph Vonier and Cody Vonier, all of Vienna; and a great-nephew, Hunter Vonier of Vienna.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Catherine Bryant Cole

MOULTRIE — Catherine Bryant Cole, 74, of Moultrie died May 21, 2007 at her residence.

Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 23 in Cobb Funeral Chapel and 2 p.m. Thursday May 24, in Central Baptist Church in Douglasville, with the Rev. Danny West and the Rev. J.T. Smith officiating. iIntermentwill follow in Central Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ronnie Smith, Robby Bryant, Johnny Morris Jr., Jeff Morris, Scott Dorsey and Wesley Clark will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Coles grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Born Nov. 3, 1932 in Fulton County to the late Robert Truman and Ruby Kate Tidwell Bryant, Mrs. Cole was of the Baptist faith and retired from Walmart as a Garden Center associate. She was preceded in death by her husband Calvin Cole Sr.

Survivors include sons, Calvin Cole Jr. and wife, Debbie of Leesburg, Truman Cole and wife, Gaynell of Albany; daughters, Virginia Parks and husband, Bobby Sr. of Cordele, Roxanne Newvine and husband, Brian of Moultrie, Rhonda Lee and husband, Kerry Kimsey of Moultrie, Terri Hancock and husband, Scott of Tifton; sisters, Carolyn Smith and Kate Cole both of Douglasville, Charlotte Dorsey of Hiram, and Diane Harris of Austell; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Chapel, and may be contacted at 217 Demott St., Moultrie.

N.H. “Nay” Felder

N.H. “Nay” Felder, of Vienna died Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at his residence. The family may be contacted at 409 E. Woodward St., Apt 24 in Vienna. Funeral arrangements by Bentley Carson Funeral Home.

N.H. ‘Nay’ Felder

VIENNA — Funeral services for N.H. “Nay” Felder will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 27 in the Church of the Living God Gates of Heaven Full Gospel Ministry in Vienna. Burial will follow in the Tippettville Cemetery.

Mr. Felder died Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at his residence.

He was a native of Macon County and was in the logging business.

Survivors include his children, Joyce Jackson (Michael) Dean, Mark Felder and Lorenzo Felder all of Vienna, Brenda Johnson of Perry, Johnny (Octavia) Hutchins of Cordele, Vashica (Eddie) Carter of Albany and Debbie Felder of Atlanta; 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Henry Mae (Delma) Davis of Henderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

The family may be contacted at 409 E. Woodward St. Apt. 24, Vienna.

Laura W. Joiner Robertson

UNADILLA — Funeral services for Laura W. Joiner Robertson, 78, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 25 in the Harmony Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the Harmony-Smyrna Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Unadilla has charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Robertson died Wednesday, May 23, 2007 in a Macon hospital.

Annie M. Leary

MONTEZUMA — Funeral services for Annie M. Leary, 94, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 26 in the Little Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Byromville. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. M. Willis will officiate the services.

Mrs. Leary died Monday, May 21, 2007 at her residence.

Born in Dooly County, she was the daughter of the late E. McKenzie and Millie Daniels McKenzie. She was the widow of the late Sammy Leary, was a homemaker and a member of the Little Poplar Springs Baptist Church. She had lived in Dooly County in the Poplar Springs area for many years.

Survivors include a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

The funeral processional will assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m.

Alvie Coes Funeral Home of Unadilla has charge of the arrangements.

James M. ‘Mutt’ Nobles

PITTS — Funeral services for James M. “Mutt” Nobles will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, April 3 at Union Baptist Church in Pitts.

Mr. Nobles died Sunday, April 1, 2007 in Pulaski County following an extended illness.

Born Feb. 12, 1931 in Wilcox County, he was married to his childhood sweetheart, Geneva, for 53 years and was blessed with three children, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He retired from Robins Air Force Base after 32 years of civil service, was the groundskeeper for Union Baptist Church and cemetery and later sold fruits and vegetables in Wilcox and surrounding counties.

Mr. Nobles was an active member of Union Baptist Church where he sang in the choir, was a deacon for many years, was former Sunday school superintendent and church clerk. He also was a volunteer with Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief and worked with the Baptist Builders.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva M. Nobles; daughters, Vickie (Jerry) Rhodes of Pineview, Jean (Tim) Rutherford of Pitts, and Patsy (Billy) Hawkins of Rochelle; grandchildren, Dennis (Becky) Rhodes, Niesi Hawkins (Jamie) Ashe, Ashley Rhodes (Chris) Eason, Kasi Rutherford, Chad Hawkins and Taylor Rutherford; and one great-grandson, Jackson Rhodes.

The family will accept may be made to the Union Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Jerry Rhodes, 1075 Dozier Road, Pineview, Ga., 31071.

Margaret O. Walker

ASHBURN — Funeral services for Margaret O. Walker, 74, will be held at 3 p.m. today, April 3 in the Ashburn First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Perry Funeral Chapel of Ashburn has charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Walker died Saturday, March 31, 2007 in Tift Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

Julius Edward ‘Butch’ Boston Sr.

CORDELE — Funeral services for Julius Edward Boston Sr. were held on Saturday, April 7, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary of Bethel Baptist Church in Vienna, with the Rev. Dr. Bobby G. West, officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Vienna City Cemetery.

Mr. Boston died on March 29, 2007 at the Crisp Regional Hospital.

Mr. Boston was born March 7, 1953, and was most recently a resident of a local nursing home, but was a lifelong resident of Dooly County. He is preceded in death by his wife, Edwina Boston, father, Ben Boston Sr., and a brother, William Darnell Boston.

Surviving him are four daughters, Virginia Boston, Kimberly Phillips, LaTonya Brown and Kimberly Dawson, and one step-daughter, Patrona Jones, all of Vienna; six sons, La Derrick (Michelle) Boston Sr., Irvin Bernard (Latre) Boston, and Octavius (Cinderella) Ellis, all of Cordele, Kinda (Sheena) Jones, Julius Boston Sr., and Micheal Boston, all of Vienna; a loving mother, Annie Ruth Boston of Vienna; one brother, Ben Derrick Boston of Vienna; five aunts, Louise Boston, Frankie Mae West, and Athlene Walker, all of Vienna, and Elnora Boston and Carrie (Garland) Pritchett, both of Detroit, Mich.; two nieces, Melody Jackson of Montezuma, and Ronesseia Jackson of Decatur; two special cousins, Rev. Leonard (Lucille) Boston and Virginia Mumphery of Vienna; three close friends, James Wise and Gwendolyn Paul, both of Cordele, and Freda Mathis of Vienna; 21 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of other cousins, relatives, and many sorrowing friends.

Arnold Lewis Oxyer

CORDELE — Funeral services for Arnold Lewis Oxyer of Cordele will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Service. iIntermentwill follow at 2 p.m. at Andersonville National cemetery in Andersonville.

Mr. Oxyer died at his residence Friday, April 6, 2007.

He was born Friday, Aug. 13, 1937 in Beards Fork, W.Va., and was the son of the late William and Carrie Liford Oxyer. Mr. Oxyer was a veteran of the United States Air Force and attended Amazing Grace Baptist Church. He was a retired mobile home installer.

He is survived by wife, Rozelle Roberson Oxyer of Leesburg; three sons and their mother, Charles Todd Oxyer of Perry, James Clayton Oxyer and Terry Lewis Oxyer, both of Maryville, Tenn., and Grace Oxyer of Vienna; two step-sons, James D. Hawkins of Ellijay, and Donald P. Hawkins of Virginia Beach, Va.; a step-daughter, Sandra Rozelle Lawson of Leesburg; a foster daughter, Ciretha Wilson of Sylvester; one sister, Pricilla Harder of Canton, Ohio; grandchildren, Matthew Ryan Oxyer, Taylor Leigh Oxyer, Cody Mann, Andy Mann, Britteny Oxyer, Siera Rozelle Hawkins, Christina Diane Hawkins, Lacy Cheyenne Lee, James D Hawkins III, and Mary Nichole Hawkins; and foster grandchildren, Eddie Harpe, Shane Harpe and Nicole White.

The family will receive friends at Rainey Family Funeral Services Monday, April 9 from 6-8 p.m.
