Harvey R. Mixon
CORDELE — Funeral services for Harvey R. Mixon, 74, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Sunnyside Cemetery.
Mr. Mixon died Tuesday, June 26, 2007 in Crisp Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
A native of Wilcox County, Mr. Mixon was born on Friday, June 23, 1933, to the late Lee Coley Mixon and the late Eva Emily Statham Mixon.
He retired from the Robins Air Force Base where he was a prop shop supervisor. He was a member at Omar Heights Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He also was a United States Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara R. Mixon of Cordele; a daughter, Debra Jordan and her husband, Chris of Americus; three sons, Billy Ray Mixon and his wife, Cindy of Greenville, S.C., Tony Lee Mixon and his wife, Angie, and Bobby Glenn Mixon and his wife, Cyledia of Cordele; three brothers, Johnnie Mixon of Hawkinsville, Carrell Mixon of Abbeville and David Mixon of Canada; seven grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are four brothers, James Mixon, Julius Mixon, Henry Mixon and Harold Mixon.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

CORDELE — Funeral services for Agnes Arnett Morris were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2007 in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial followed in Dorough Cemetery. The Rev. J.T. Smith officiated the services, directed by Hughes & Wright Funeral Home of Cordele.
Marcene Freeman provided soft music for the service.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Moore, Jerry Moore, James Moore, Marty Arnett, Gene Arnett and Carl Gordon.

Ellen died on March 31, 2005 at the age of 82. Beloved mother of Dr. Deborah Hammond Budge and Colonel Harvey L. Hammond, Jr.
She was a woman ahead of her time, balancing love of family with professional pursuits. She was born into a loving Christian home on March 3, 1923 along with a much loved twin sister, Helen Crowe Colston, known as “The Crowe Twins, ” in Bogart Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Joel Allen and Myrtice McHugh Crowe.
She graduated from Bogart High School in 1940 and then graduated with honors from the Athens Business College, working for 17 years for Wilkins Industries as financial secretary and payroll clerk. She was a very disciplined person working at First Baptist Church of Athens as financial secretary for seven years and at Briarwood Baptist Church for seven years as secretary. She also worked seven more years for Dr. Eugene Younts and Colonel Robert Rowan at the University of Georgia. She enjoyed a good life, a total of 38 working years.
Ellen and Harvey were high school sweethearts, and sincerely loved each other. So in 1945 she married
Harvey L. Hammond and they were a very devoted and loving couple.
Harvey was working for Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company here in Athens and retired from the company after 43 years of service. In 1950 they joined the First Baptist Church of Athens where she has been a member for 54 years and a devoted and active member of the Dorcus-Snow Sunday School Class. Their children, Deborah and Lee grew up here at First Baptist Church and we all loved this church very much. Ellen and Harvey both were very religious people and taught many years in Sunday school, teaching young people. In fact, one of Ellen’s students is still living here in Athens and constantly tells her that she kept her on the right path and how she appreciates this care when she was a teenager. Harvey and Ellen have served on almost every committee there is in the church and her husband, Harvey, was Dr. Jon Appleton’s first Deacon Board Chairman. Ellen was a member of the Athens Country Club, an avid cook, reader and golfer and achieved the fete of making two holes-in –one, on the same hole, of golf.
She was so proud of her two children. She and Harvey loved these children dearly and were so proud when they excelled in something they were doing.
Ellen loved people and was a good and caring caregiver to her mother and for her twin sister, Helen.
She is survived by her two children, Dr Deborah Hammond Budge and her husband Arthur of Dallas, Texas and their children Ashley Ellen Atkins, Arthur N. Budge, III. and Katie Elizabeth Budge and Colonel Harvey L. Hammond, Jr. and his wife Pam of Yorktown, Virginia and their children Lindsey and Kevin Hammond. Other survivors include a twin sister, Helen Crowe Colston of Athens, niece Mrs. Patsy Hammond Thomas of Watkinsville and a grand-nephew, Joel Perry Thomas of Duluth.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM Monday, April 4, 2005, at the First Baptist Church of Athens with Dr Bill Ross and Rev. Frank Granger officiating. iIntermentwill follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to The Harvey L. and Ellen C. Hammond Memorial Scholarship at the First Baptist Church of Athens, 355 Pulaski Street, Athens, Georgia. 30601. The family would like to thank the staff of Talmadge Terrace Lanier Gardens for all the kindness shown to their mother after she moved there in 2000 and especially the wonderful circle of friends that she came to love.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Hammond, Joel Thomas, Neal Budge, Kenneth Nash, Verlyn Hammond, Cecil Maxey, Doug Hammond and Allen Crowe.

Mr. Bobo died Wednesday, June 27, 2007 in Tift Health Care following an extended illness.

WARNER ROBINS — Funeral services for Frank Johnson, 62, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Ferguson Brothers Funeral Home in Rochelle. Burial will follow in Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery, Rochelle. The Rev. Abraham Holmes will officiate the services, directed by Ferguson Brothers Funeral Home of Rochelle. A wake service will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Johnson died Monday, June 18, 2007 in Warner Robins Rehab Center in Warner Robins.

Mr. Jimmerson died Sunday, June 24, 2007.

CORDELE — Funeral services for Sylvester Morrison, 96, of Cordele were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Service. Rev. J.T. Smith and Rev. Billy Forrest officiated.
Marcene Freeman, pianist, played soft music and accompanied herself and Rev. Royce Freeman as they sang "I Want To Stroll Over Heaven With You" and "Sweet Beulah Land."
Pallbearers were grandsons, Dennis Morrison, Terry Morrison, Roger Sullivan, Skeet Sullivan, Fred Woods and Minnon Veal.
The committal service was in Sharon Baptist Church cemetery in Crisp County.

Thomas Magill Wellman, 55, of 755 Epps Bridge Parkway passed away on March 25, 2005.
A native of Athens, Mr. Wellman was the son of the late Walter M. and Carroll Magill Wellman, Jr. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Walter M. Wellman, Sr and Mr. and Mrs. Daniel H. Magill, Sr. He served in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam and received a purple heart. He was a retired Real Estate Agent, former member of the YMCA and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Athens.

Cordele — Funeral services were held for U. S. Army veteran Harvey R. Mixon at 3 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2007. Rev. J. T. Smith and Rev. Hicks Brown officiated the services in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Sunnyside cemetery with Rev. Damon Fountain officiating. Mrs. Mixon was presented an American Flag at the conclusion of the committal service.
Frank McGarr sang "Go Rest High On That Mountain" and "Sweet Beulah Land." Amy Tienda, pianist, played before and after the service.
Pallbearers were: Tommy Hughes, Ed Herrington, R. L. Garrett, Carl Gamble, Wayne McDaniel and Stephen Godwin. Honorary pallbearers were Howard Eargle, Gary Fowler, Buddy Rosenberry and Milton Bass.

Mrs. Gary died Tuesday, July 17, 2007 in the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.
A native of Dooly County, she was the daughter of the late Ida Mae Carmichael and Willie Tomlin. She was employed at the Allstate Truckstop from 2004-2006.
Survivors include three children, Theresa Tomlin and Tyrone Houser of Unadilla, and Terrance (Dannette) Tomlin of Orlando, Fla.; her step-mother, Mattie Tomlin of Orlando, Fla.; her step-children, Leroy Taylor, Otis Gary Jr., Brenda Whitfield and Patricia Lynn (Lewis) Taylor; brothers, Jimmy, Elisha, Kedrick and Rudy; a sister, Sarah (Dexter) Whitaker of Unadilla; three sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Robert Baxter Brese, III, 33, of Craigie Avenue died Thursday, May 27, 2004.
A native of DeKalb County, Mr. Brese was a son of Nina Davison Brese of Athens and Robert B. Brese, Jr of Thomaston. He was employed with International Technology as a computer specialist.
Survivors in addition to his parents include brother and sister-in-law, Darryl and Jennifer Brese; niece, Avery Brese, all of Athens; grandparents: Emily and Jim Riggs of Athens and Mrs. Jean Brese of Thomaston.
Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2004, in Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel.
