Mrs. Martha Parsing Myers age 92, of Conyers, GA, died Sunday, March 6, 2005. Funeral arrangements will be made at Osenider Funeral Home, Oil City, PA. iIntermentwill be held at Brandon Cemetery, Cranberry, PA. Mrs. Myers was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Conyers. She was retired from Senior Services at Olivia Haydel Center in Conyers. She enjoyed teaching ceramics, and working with her hands. She was preceded in death by husband, John Burton Myers; parents, Sumner Butler and Orpha Merta Roberts Persing. Mrs. Myers is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Mona and Charles Goodman, Oil City, PA, Mrs. Dolores Jean Jacoby, Conyers, Mrs. Carol Steele, Covington; sons, Mr. Jack Myers, Laramie, WY, Mr. Phillip Myers, Conyers; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mary Myers; 28 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; 66 great-great-grandchildren. SMITH
Mr. Howard F. Smith was born March 1, 1915, in New York City and died Sunday March 6, 2005, at 9:15 a.m. in Conyers. He was baptized into the Christian faith as an infant and raised within the Catholic church. He graduated from Barringer High School in Newark, NJ, in January of 1940. He was married May 4, 1940, to Ruth Fenton in East Orange, NJ. He worked for the Unemployment Compensation Board as a Civil Servant. He moved to Chicago in 1943 and worked for the Railroad Retirement Board, where his employment was interrupted by service in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Smith is a World War II veteran. He later worked for Northwestern University for 27 years in data processing. As a strict, but loving father he worked hard to support his family. He loved to fish and always laughed at a good joke. He kept puzzle games for the children to keep their minds active. Howard is survived by his wife, Ruth Fenton Smith; children, Howard Edward Smith and wife, Barbara, Barbara Ruth Lass and husband, Wayne; grandchildren, Zana Z. Smith, Richard E. Lass and wife, Natasha; and great-grandchild, Erin J. Lass. He will be buried in Memorial Park cemetery in Skokie, Ill.

HELEN H. O'NEAL

Helen H. O'Neal, age 97, of Colquitt and formerly of Donalsonville, passed away Monday, January 15, 2007, at Miller Nursing Home.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 18, at 3:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Donalsonville with Dr. Ron McCaskill and Rev. Luther Hastey officiating. Burial followed in the Friendship Cemetery.

Helen Hoffman O'Neal was born March 26, 1909, at Gordon, AL, to the late Frank C. Hoffman and Sarah Florence Dawsey Hoffman. She was married to the late James Harry O'Neal, February 14, 1936. Helen attended Norman Park Junior College 1926-1927 and received a BA degree from Mercer University in 1935. The summer of 1957 she was a house mother for Dappa Alpha Fraternity at the University of Georgia. She received a MA degree from the University of Georgia in 1958. She taught elementary school at Attapulgus 1929-1936 and was Seminole County Visiting Teacher from 1950-1975. She was a member of the Seminole County Education Association, PTA, and Georgia Visiting Teachers Association. She was the oldest living member of the First Baptist Church, sang in the choir for many years and was a member of the Pure Gold Sunday School Class. She was cited in Who's Who in Georgia in 1982, a compilation of biographical information on outstanding citizens of the State of Georgia.

She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Sara Ann Keaton, and husband Ferrell, Colquitt; one son: James C. O'Neal, Divide, CO; two grandsons: Chris Keaton, Colquitt, and Patrick Keaton (Marianne), Matthews, NC; and three greatgrandsons: Caleb, Joseph and Joshua Keaton. She is also survived by a sister Muriel Hoffman Thomas, Jacksonville, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Erin Anita O'Neal; two sisters, Elois Hoffman Connelly and Wilma Hoffman Brinkley.

Pallbearers were William Bramlett, Louis Bonner, Broaddus Simpson, David Fain, Carl Fain and William Arden Parker. Honorary pallbearers were Cecil Lunsford, Ladon Swanner, Espy Gray, Ed King, Lewis Godby and Bill Fowler.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Charlotte P. Blair
(May 27, 1933 - July 15, 2011)

Mrs. Charlotte P. Blair, age 78, of Cedartown, GA passed away on Friday, July 15, 2011. She was born in Covington, GA on May 27, 1933, the daughter of the late James and Annie Ruth Perkins.

Mrs. Blair was a beloved member of Anna Kresge Memorial United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by husband, Robert J. Blair; brothers, Willie Perkins and Johnny Perkins.

Mrs. Charlotte Blair is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Jan Blair; daughter, Ann Blair; granddaughter and her husband, Brandi and Eric Warren; grandson and his wife, Blake and Deana Blair. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Tanner Warren, Ella Kate Warren, and Truett Warren and Baby Warren, due in October, and Baby Blair who is due in March.

The funeral service for Mrs. Charlotte P. Blair will be conducted on Saturday, July 16, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Rebecca Holmes will officiate; granddaughter, Brandi Warren will deliver the eulogy. The interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour.

Honorary Pallbearers are Doris Holcomb, Sybil Temple, Mozelle Towe, Glenda Williams, Ann Hughes, Frances Wood, Minnie Lloyd, Margaret Jolly, Ellen Dickert, Betty Perkins, and members of Kresge’s Pathfinders.

The family has respectfully requested that flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions may be made to Altus Hospice Foundation Inc., 1 Dunwoody Park, Suite 128, Atlanta, GA 30338 or to The American Cancer Society, 1825 Barrett Lakes Blvd. NW, Suite 280, Kennesaw, GA 30144.

Freda Irene Steen Dunham

Freda Irene Steen Dunham, 69, of Clayton, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Habersham County Medical Center in Demorest.

She was born in Calhoun County, Mich., to Bird C. and Grace Irene Carty Steen. She was for many years employed in toy manufacturing. She lived the past nine years in Rabun County and was a Methodist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Dunham.

Survivors include: a son, James H. "Radar" Dunham of Clayton; a daughter, Patty Ann Watkins of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Alvin Steen of Palrump, Nev., and James Steen of Lincoln Park, Mich.; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Hunter Funeral Home chapel with layman Lloyd Hunter officiating. The body was then taken to South Branch, Mich., for graveside services and burial at 11 a.m. Friday at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

David R. Bailey

David R. Bailey, 79, of Clayton, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to Bill and Corrine Ringel Bailey. He lived in Rabun County for 50 years. He worked at A.I.D. Corp. until his retirement. He was a longtime member of Clayton Lions Club and Clayton First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Victoria Crisp Bailey.

Survivors include: three stepdaughters, Martha Smith of Whittier, Calif., Harriet Goodpaster of St. Paul, Minn., and Barbara Hutchings of Devon, England; a nephew, Charles Crisp of Clayton; eight grandchildren, Tracy, Ruddy, Elizabeth, John, Kathryn, Kerri, Zelda and Christina; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Clayton First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Warren Huddleston officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall.

Memorial donations may be made to Clayton Lions Club, P.O. Box 411, Clayton, GA 30525; or Clayton First United Methodist Church.

George Conan English

George Conan English, 62, of Cumming, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004.

He was born Jan. 20, 1942, in Clayton to Maybelle and Porter English. He attended Rabun County High School and Falls College of Drafting in Atlanta. He worked as project manager for Disaster Services Incorporated in Atlanta. He was a member of Timpson Creek Presbyterian Church. He may best be remembered as lead singer and guitar player in The Blue Ridge Gentlemen bluegrass band.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Porter English.

Survivors include: his mother, Maybelle C. English; his wife, Jett K. English; two sons and daughters-in-law, Marion and Tiffany English of Buford and Monty and Kim English of Auburn; a daughter, Gaye England of Lawrenceville; a stepdaughter and son-in-law, Autumn and Matt Bickerstaff of Murrayville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Sue English of Clayton and Glenn and Madge English of Mountain City; a granddaughter, Krystal England of Lawrenceville; two step-grandchildren, Ceatin and Isis Bickerstaff; and his mother-in-law, Margaret S. King of Cumming.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Beck Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Joe Nichols officiating. Burial followed in the Persimmon Community Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made to United Hospice of Gainesville, 700 S. Enota Ave. Suite 202, Gainesville, GA 30501; and the Persimmon Community Club, c/o Vicki York, 111 Gobbler Lane, Clayton, GA 30525.

Mae Carnes Cragg

Mae Carnes Cragg, 92, of Clayton, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, in Mountain View Community Living Center in Clayton.

She was born July 31, 1912, in Rabun County to Elisha and Martha Fincannon Carnes. She lived all her life in Rabun County. She was a homemaker and a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Hubert Carnes, and four sisters, Beulah Fincannon, Minnie McConnell, Bessie Hunter and Margie York.

Survivors include: two sons, Charles Cragg of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Leman Cragg of Denison, Texas; two daughters, Jo-Anne Cragg of Clayton and Martha Cragg Buchanan of Lawrenceville; three brothers, Buford Carnes of Clayton and the Revs. Olan Carnes and Cranford Carnes, both of Tiger; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday at the Hunter Funeral Home chapel with Leman Cragg officiating. Burial followed in Liberty Cemetery.

Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Frank E. Bingham

Frank E. Bingham, 77, of Clayton, died Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at Rabun County Hospital.

He was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Rabun County to Jim and Eunice Blair Bingham.

He was a heavy equipment operator and worked for the Tallulah Falls Railroad, R.T. Smith Construction Company, Earl Vinson, Rabun County Road Department, Burlington Industries and local poultry farmers.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, building airstrips with Company 185 A-5 of the Construction Brigade (Seabees) in the Marshall Islands from 1944-46. He was the last member of his immediate family.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Kate Darnell, Ruth Darnell and Polly Turman; and by three brothers, James, Max and Harry Bingham.

Survivors include: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Eddie and Jane Bingham of Clayton and Neville Bingham of Mountain City; a sister-in-law, Martha Bingham of Stockbridge; three grandchildren; four step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday at the Hunter Funeral Home chapel with layman Lloyd Hunter officiating. Burial followed at Head of Tennessee Baptist Church cemetery in Dillard.

Memorial donations may be made to the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 184, Dillard, GA 30537.

Glenn Harold Forston
(May 13, 1963 - July 15, 2011)

Mr. Glenn Harold Forston, age 48, of Cedartown, GA passed away on Friday, July 15, 2011. He was born on May 13, 1963 in Cedartown, Georgia.

Mr. Forston is survived by wife, Lorrie Denise Hulsey Forston; mother, Lura Ellen Lawler Forston; son, Timothy Glenn Forston; granddaughter, Christina Inez Forston; sister and brother-in-law, Cathy & Mike Cotton; brothers and sister-in-laws, Joe & Amy Forston, and David & Kay Forston. He is also survived by his best friends and golf partner Raymond & Anita Anderson.

He is preceded in death by his father, James A. Forston.

The funeral service for Mr. Glenn Harold Forston will be conducted on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Olin L. Gammage & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Reginald Campbell officiating. iIntermentwill follow in Polk Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 16th, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Gammage Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Mike Williams, Bobby Jarrell, Bryan McElwee, Matthew McElwee, Larry Castleberry, and Raymond Anderson.

The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for Mr. Glenn Harold Forston.
