Jable Eugene Alley, 78, of Greenville, S.C., died Sunday, June 6, 2004.
He was born in Tiger to Jable Ellis and Nancy Elizabeth Manley Alley.
He was an accountant and bookkeeper with Claussen's Bakery and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of White Oak Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Doris Davis Alley of Greenville; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Tom Kerr of Orangeburg, S.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, Leslie and Tammie Alley of Greer, S.C.; a sister, Ellie Blair of Tiger; two brothers, Jack Alley of Tiger and Claude Alley of Pontiac, Mich.; and three grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Kerr and Bryan Klee.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at White Oak Baptist Church. Burial followed in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Mabel Edna Travis Heater
Mabel Edna Travis Heater, 87, of Rabun Gap, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, at Britthaven of Franklin, N.C.
She was the daughter of Edson Alford and Blanche Olive Comfort Travis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eston Heater; two brothers, John and Edson Travis; a sister, Mildred Coss; and a great-grandchild, Jacob Rhodes.
Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Joseph Cannon of Rabun Gap; a brother, Warren Travis of New York; two sisters, Blanche Travis of New York and May Hull of Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Tammie Rhodes of Atlanta and Keri Cannon of Rabun Gap; and two great-grandchildren, Jesse Cannon and Jeremy Cannon, both of Rabun Gap.
The family will have a memorial service at a later date.

Nola Cragg Earley
Nola Cragg Earley, 97, of Naples, Fla., died Nov. 9, 2004.
She was born May 31, 1907, in Tiger to Issac and Mattie Carson Cragg.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jess Howard Earley.
Survivors include: three daughters, Jeanne Holden of Monroe, Phyllis Parsakian of Naples, Fla., and Barbara Topoleski of Ormond Beach, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rocky Grove Baptist Church in Tiger with the Rev. Rusty Wolfrey officiating.

Georgia Parker Pierce
Georgia Parker Pierce, 64, of Atlanta, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, at her home while surrounded by her family.
She was born in Gainesville to Jap and Virginia Parker. She moved to Toccoa as a young girl and graduated from Toccoa High School. She began college at Wesleyan Women's College in Macon before graduating from the University of Georgia. She moved to Atlanta and shortly thereafter married
Wilds. They had four children together.
She later volunteered as a teacher's aid and earned a master's degree from Georgia State University. She taught at The School in the Woods, Trinity School and Our Lady of the Assumption. She attended Saint Anne's Episcopal.
She loved spending time at her second home on Lake Burton where she participated in and often held the Lake Burton Bible Study.
Survivors include: her husband of 40 years, Wilds Lovick Pierce; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Lovick and Anna Pierce, Patrick Wilds Pierce and Brian Parker Pierce; a daughter and son-in-law, Julia Ann and Bill Stovall; five grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Joseph Sloan; a sister, Jean Letourneau; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at St. Anne's Episcopal Church followed by a reception in the parish hall. Burial followed at Arlington Memorial Park.

Joe Monroe Johnson
(August 2, 1939 - July 14, 2011)
Mr. Joe “Monroe” Johnson, age 71, of Cedartown, GA passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2011. He was born August 2, 1939 in Polk County, GA.
Upon retirement Mr. Johnson had been the Polk County Building Inspector for twenty-three years.
He was a member of Faith Baptist Church.
Mr. Monroe Johnson is survived by wife, Mary Youngblood Johnson; daughter and son-in-law, Connie Johnson Bray and Bill Bray; son, Rodney M. Johnson; granddaughter, Kristi Bray; brother, Jodie Rowell. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He is preceded in death by mother, Catherine Rowell.
The funeral service for Mr. Joe Monroe Johnson will be conducted on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Tucker and Rev. Earl Partain, Sr. officiating. The Faith Baptist Choir will provide the music. iIntermentwill be in Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. Tony Schubert will officiate at graveside.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 16th, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Gammage Funeral Home.
Pallbearears are David Willingham, Rocky Tillery, Bobby Alexander, Herschel Wright, Brian McCray, and Scott Brock. Honorary Pallbearers are Billy Croker, Greg Swafford, Randy Stephens, Mike Whitfield, Kevin Cook, and Leo Couzzort.

Wayne Vance Garner
Wayne Vance Garner, 63, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, in Austin, Texas.
He was born Jan. 24, 1941, in Dillard to William Buford and Mable Carver Garner.
He settled in Austin upon retirement from the U.S. Air Force, having attained the rank of senior master sergeant. He worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Austin.
Survivors include: his wife, Judy West Garner of Austin; a son and daughter-in-law, William Vance and Kathryn Garner of Driftwood, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Talina and Jim Plant of Creedmoor, Texas, and Niki and Chris Whatley of Cedar Creek, Texas; a sister, Donna Garner Bailey of Mountain City; 11 grandchildren; two nephews, Bill Bailey of Mountain City and Robbie Bailey of Wiley; great-nieces, Abbie and Lexie Bailey, both of Wiley; and many cousins.
Services were held on March 16 at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery, Austin.
Robert Walter Hill
Robert Walter Hill, 74, of Brunswick and Westcliffe, Colo., died Saturday, June 5, 2004, from post-surgical complications at Life Care Nursing Center in Pueblo, Colo.
He was born in Athens to Effie Louise Chandler and Luther Jean Hill. He spent many winters in Brunswick and summers in Colorado. He moved from Dillard to spend his final years in the Wet Mountain Valley in Colorado.
He served 20 years as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Captain in 1969. He later worked in civil aviation and as a real estate broker. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, gunsmithing and, most of all, flying. He served as a deacon in the Presbyterian Church, was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner, a member of the Confederate Air Force, a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, an endowment member of the National Rifle Association, a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks and a Rotarian.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene Hill and George Hill.
Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn Hill of Brunswick; four children, Elizabeth Sheaffer of Roswell, David B. Hill of Clarkesville, George K. Hill of Grayson and Ashley Hill Kraft of Round Rock, Texas; nine grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Hill of Athens; a sister, Linda Brooks of Crawford; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Westcliffe with the Rev. Lawrence Shipley officiating. Memorial donations can be made to the American Lung Association or the American Diabetes Association. He requested for the final resting place of his ashes to be shared between the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and the North Georgia mountains.

Margaret Henderson Broadway
(August 9, 1942 - May 9, 2011)
Mrs. Margaret Henderson Broadway, age 68, of Cedartown, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2011. She was born on August 9, 1942 in Cedartown; she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Brewster and Irene Henderson.
Mrs. Broadway is survived by husband, Dennis Broadway; daughters, Gail Stubblefield, Tami Atkins and Paige Robinson; sisters, Diane Jackson and Vickie Long; brother, Gene Henderson; five grandchildren, Ashlea West, Henzlee Zebeau, Hayden Price, Emilee Atkins and Holden Robinson and one great-grandchild, Daniel West.
Mrs. Broadway is preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Glenda Ploof.
The funeral for Mrs. Broadway will be conducted on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at two o’clock in the afternoon in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Hulsey officiating.
iIntermentwill follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Broadway will receive friends and family on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 from six o’clock in the evening until nine o’clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.

Knox Bynum age 77, passed away March 20, 2003 at his home in Clayton GA.
He was born February 3, 1926 in Rabun county GA. He work as lawyer in Clayton. He was veteran serving in the Merchant Marines.
He is survived by his wife Armede Craft Bynum, three daughters Mary Alice Bynum Haratsaris of New York, Irene Bynum Keller of Clayton and Becky Bynum Loggins of Bufford GA. One son Thad Craft Bynum of Clayton. Two sisters Roslyn Stricklin of Clayton and Emily B Albright of Clayton. One brother James William Bynum of Winter Park, FL, Seven grandchildren
