Roy Lockard Kelly
Roy Lockard Kelly went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, July 23, 2002. He was born December 10, 1942 in Fontana, North Carolina; the son of the late Claude Kelly and Beatrice Kelly. He spent his entire life in Rabun Gap, Georgia.
In addition to his mother, Roy is survived by one brother. William T. (Bill) Kelly and his wife, Jean of Dillard, Georgia; two sisters, Betty K. Wyatt and her husband, Leigh of Rabun Gap; and Claudia K. Cantrell and her husband Jim of Columbus. Georgia. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 24 from seven to nine p.m. at Beck Funeral Home in Clayton with services at 11:00 a.m. at the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church in Dillard on July 25, 2002. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service. iIntermentwill be at Wesley Memorial cemetery at Rabun Gap.

Peter Joseph Snyder Jr.
Peter Joseph Snyder Jr., 53 of Dillard passed away June 14, 2002 after an extended illness.
Peter was born on March 17, 1949 in Allegany County PA. the son of Peter Snyder and Hilda Dieker Snyder. He has been a Rabun County Resident for the past 12 years.
He is survived by Two Daughters Carrie Fortenberry of Blairsville GA, Johanna Snyder of Toccoa GA, Two GrandChildren also survive.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Johanna Snyder at 9126 Dicks Hill Parkway in Stephen county Sunday night from 6:00 PM until.
Grave side services will be 10:00AM Tuesday June 18, 2002 at Rush cemetery in Otto NC with Bill Nichols Officiating.

Fred Davis Speed
Fred Davis Speed, 77 of Warwoman Community passed away June 26, 2002 at his residence after an extended illness.
Fred was born in Rabun County on February 27, 1925 the son of the late Julius Speed and Iva Chastin Speed.
He is survived by his wife Betty Speed of the home; Two Sons William and Ellen Speed of Warwoman Rd. Clayton, Winfred and Brenda Speed of Warwoman Rd. Clayton; Two brothers Lester Speed of Dillard, Harley Speed of Staples Texas; eight Grandchildren; Nine Great-Grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends Friday June 28, 2002 at Beck Funeral home from 7:00 Pm until 9:00 Pm.
Funeral services will be Saturday June 29, 2002 at Battle Branch Baptist Church at 11:00Am with Rev Madison McCrackin and Rev. Larry Cannon, Rev Edgar Owens officiating.
Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Lola Emory Jiles
Mrs. Lola Emory Jiles, 91 of Clayton GA passed away in Gainesville GA at Linear Park Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Willie Jiles. She was born February 21, 1911 to the late Will Emory and Verlie White Emory in Andrews North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three children. Almon Jiles, Edward Jiles, Lolla Sue Jiles.
Mrs. Jiles is survived by Five Daughters Edith Gipson of Lakemont, Evelyn Bowen of Walhalla Sc., Lois Clark of Lakemont, Jean Harrison Hollywood GA, Clarice Owens of Franklin NC. twelve Grandchildren and 14 Great Grand children one Great-Great-Grand child.
Services will be held at Taylor’s Chapel Church on Wednesday June 12, 2002 at 2:00 Pm with Reverend Thomas Burrell and John Gipson Officiating burial will follow in the Taylor chapel cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday June 11, 2002 at Beck Funeral Home from 7:00 until 9:00 Pm.

V.D. Stockton
V. D. Stockton, 79, of Clayton, Georgia died June 2, 2002 at Rabun County Memorial Hospital.
Born May 14, 1923 in Macon County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Colonel Burkett Stockton and Cora Woods Stockton. He was a lawyer by profession serving as County Attorney and School Board Attorney for Rabun County and later serving as District Attorney for the Mountain Judicial Circuit from 1971 until 1984. He was a staff sergeant in the United States Air Force during World War II serving as an aerial gunner aboard B-17s in the 91st Bomb Group and stationed at Bassingbourne, England. He was shot down twice, completing twenty-two bombing missions. He was a charter member of both the American Legion Post and V.F.W. in Rabun County and a member of Clayton Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Crosby Cornell Stockton and sister, Lee Agnes Rose.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Peggy Birch Stockton of the home, sons Lawrence Stockton of Clayton and Doug Stockton of Dalton and daughter Peggy Ann Richards of Raleigh, North Carolina, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held June 5, 2002 at 2:00 PM at Clayton Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends June 4, 2002 from 7:00 Pm until 9:00 Pm at Beck Funeral Home. Alice O. Dreher
Alice Irene Owen Dreher, 92, of Clayton passed May 15, 2002 at her home after a 15v year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Mrs. Dreher is the widow of Paul Albert Dreher who passed away in 1993 after 63 years of marriage.
She was very active in the movement to ban DDT as pesticide. She was most proud of here husband and his accomplishments with his work as superintendent of parks in West Palm Beach Fl where one of the parks he was instrumental in building carries his name Dreher Park Zoo.
Alice had been coming to there summer home in Rabun County since 1954. She became a permanent resident 10 years ago and lived with her son and daughter in law who have taken care of her every need.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Paul O. and Kiki Dreher; two grand children Paul E. Dreher Jr. and wife Allison of Lawrenceville GA, Kristy Aileene Dreher Ledford and husband Billy of Franklin NC; Two great-grandchildren Kacey Marie Dreher, Dustin Paul Dreher.
The body has been cremated and there will be a memorial service 7:00PM Thursday May 16, 2002 at Timpson Presbyterian Church.

Jim Williamson
James (Jim) Westwood Williamson, of Lake Burton passed away on May 9, 2002 at his home after an extended illness.
Jim and his wife Betty have been property owners at Lake Burton since the 1950’s and made it their permanent residence in 1982 after Jim retired from AC Delco a division of General Motors where he worked for 35 years and retired as the Southeastern Operations Manager. Jim enjoyed golfing with his friends, fishing and classic cars. Jim and Betty were married
at Central Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, GA, and attended there for a number of years.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Westwood Williamson, and mother, Norma McClain Williamson, and sister, Isabelle Williamson White.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty Dudley Williamson, a son and daughter-in law, James Westwood Williamson III and Laura C. Williamson of Rochester, MI; a daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne Williamson Mitchell and Gregory W. Mitchell of Dacula, GA; three grandchildren, James W. Williamson IV, Victoria E. Mitchell, Peyton G. Mitchell; several brother and sister in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on May 10, 2002 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Beck Funeral Home in Clayton, GA. There will be a visitation on May 11, 2002 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at H. M Patterson Arlington Chapel in Atlanta, GA. The family will go in procession to Arlington Memorial Park immediately following the visitation for Crypt side services in the Sun Rise Chapel.

James Holub
James (Jim) E. Holub died April 7, 2002.
Born in Martin's Ferry, Ohio on January 11, 1939, he was the son of Edwin Robert and Kathleen Ann Holub. He and his wife, Nellie, moved to Rabun County from Gainesville in 1996.
He was a beloved husband and father, who will be missed by family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Nellie Holub; a son, Edwin Robert Holub; sister-in-law, Elaine Runyon of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother-in-law, John F. Preston of Jonesboro, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held April 13, 2002 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Beck Funeral Home in Clayton with Rev. Mike Campbell officiating.

Millen R. Pitchford
Mr. Millen R. Pitchford, age 36 of Clayton GA died Sunday January 20, 2002 at Atlanta medical center from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mr. Pitchford was a native of Lumpkin County who had lived in Clayton for the past two and one half years. He was a former resident of Cleveland, GA. He had been employed at the Daniels Funeral Home in Clayton GA for the past 9 year and was a student at Gupton Jones College of funeral service in Decatur, GA. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is Survived by his wife: Linda Pichford, of Clayton, GA, Parents: Clarence and Betty Pitchford Cleveland GA, Children: David Thomas Clarksville GA, Chris Thomas Cleveland GA, and Shelia Thomas Cleveland GA, Grand children: Levi Thomas and Cody Thomas, Sister: Coletis Wimpy, Dahlonega, GA, Brothers: Vestal Pitchford, Cleveland GA, Aubry Pitchford Dawsonville GA, Mother in Law: Bertha Sullens Dahlonega GA, Numerous other relatives also survive.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 P.M. Wednesday January 23, 2002 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church #2 in Lumpkin County with Rev. Milton Harris and Rev. Phillip Robinson Officiating; iIntermentwill follow in the church cemetery.

Wendell L. Worley
Wendell L. Worley, age 55 of Lakemont passed away Thursday September 13, 2001 at a local hospital.
He was born in Rabun County, where he lived all of his life. He was preceded in death by his father Lonnie Worley and mother Laura Turpin Worley.
Wendell was an employee of Georgia Power for many years and was a plant operator.
He is survived by his Companion of fifteen years Marry Roanne Lunsford; one son Wren Worley and Wife Lisa Worley; daughter Lesley Queen and husband Anthony Queen; One sister Wanda Marsengill of Clayton; 4 grandchildren Leah Worley, Hannah Worley, Brooklyn Queen, Cydney Queen all of Mountain City, several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 16, 2001 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Beck Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Conner officiating. iIntermentwill follow in D.D. Taylor Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 15, 2001 at Beck Funeral Home from 7:00 until 9:00 PM. The family will be at the home of Wren and Lisa worley at other times.
