Linda Allen, 55, of Cartersville passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010. Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on March 11, 1955, she was the daughter of Josephine Frances Guiffrida Allen and the late Melvin Barrett Allen, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her husband.
Survivors include her children, Waylon Allen, Micah Pedrich, Denver Allen, and Dylan Allen; her mother, Jo Allen of Cartersville; her sister, Becky Allen of Roswell; her brother, Barre Allen of Cartersville; her granddaughter, Lily Grace Allen and her mother, Kim Loving.
The family will gather to celebrate Linda’s life at 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 4, 2010 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Mike Abernathy officiating.

Jeanette Tally-schmidt
Jeanette Talley-Schmidt died on August 23, 2003 at Rabun County Hospital with her family by her side.
Jeanette was born in Utica, New York on September 6, 1932, the daughter of Gerardo and Rose Lombard Pecorello. She was educated in local schools and attended Ithaca College. She studied voice under Jessie Nash Stover in Utica and Madame Gregory of the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia.
Jeanette made her American debut as a mezzo-soprano in Philadelphia, singing the title role of Bizet’s Carmen. A winner of two Fulbright scholarships to Rome, her successful Italian debut as a soprano at Spoleto earned for her concert and opera performances with RAI, the Italian radio and television. Jeanette’s performances have included Tosca, Butterfly, Lucia, Violetta and Lady MacBeth, among others. After her marriage to Eugene Talley-Schmidt, in Germany, where her husband was engaged at leading opera houses, she and her husband performed a joint farewell concert at the Muenster Opera House and received no less than 40 curtain calls. She continued to concertize in Italy and later, in Germany and Austria. A highly acclaimed concert and oratorio artist, she was invited to appear as soloist with the Florida Bicentennial Orchestra at Kennedy Center and with the New York Philomusica at Lincoln Center.
After her concert and operatic career Jeanette began a new career as Professor of Music at Rice University and Houston Baptist University in Houston, Texas until her retirement in 2000, when she and her husband moved to Dillard, Georgia.
Jeanette is survived by her husband, Eugene Talley-Schmidt of Dillard, Georgia; two sons, Eugene Smith and his fiancee, April Harte, of Houston, Texas; and Christopher Smith and his wife, Inger, of Tallulah Falls, Georgia; one brother and sister-in law, Anthony and Teresa Pecorello, of Utica, New York; one sister and brother-in-law, Marguerite and Michael Scotellaro, of Utica, New York; and three grandchildren, Christopher Michael Smith and Abigail Rae Smith of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Shane Anne Smith of Tallulah Falls, Georgia; and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Gerard, Arthur and Edward Pecorello.
Funeral arrangements are being made by Beck Funeral Home, 898 Highway 441 South, Clayton, Georgia. Services will be held in the Beck Chapel on Monday, August 25, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeanette’s memory to the American Diabetes Association.
R. Oliver Clamp
R. Oliver Clamp age 87 of Rabun Gap passed away Monday August 18, 2003 at North East Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Clamp was a devoted member of The Head Of Tennessee Baptist Church and the American Legion. Veteran of WWII serving in the Sixth Armored Division in the European theater.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Ann Clamp, four brothers Bobby Clamp, William L. Clamp, Vernon Clamp, Simon Alfred Clamp; two sisters Camille Clamp, Margaret Harden.
He is survived by his wife Madeline S. Clamp of the home; 2 daughters Mary Ann Bunker of Texas, Phyllis Bachand of Florida; one step daughter Linda Sims of Clayton GA; one step Son Dennis Sims of West Palm Beach Fl.; two sisters Louise Gaddy, Juanita Smith; three brothers Valmer Clamp, Jimmie Clamp, Russell Clamp; two grandchildren Lindsey Bunker, Nathan Bunker; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends Wednesday August 20, 2003 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Beck Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday August 21, 2003 at the Head Of Tennessee Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Porter and Rev. Tommy Lamb officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Eddie V. Dixon
Eddie Vance Dixon age 48 formerly of Clayton passed away October 13, 2003 at Gwinnett Medical Center.
Mr. Dixon was born April 13, 1955 in Rabun County. He was employed by Georgia Power Company. He was member Clayton Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Richard Dixon and Billy Dixon.
He is survived by his wife Nancy Scruggs Dixon, one daughter Leah Michelle Dixon and one son Paul Virgil Dixon of the home. His father Corbitt Vance Dixon and his mother Lavina Whitmire Dixon of Clayton. One sister Lynn Dixon Beck of Clayton.
The family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home Tuesday October 14, 2003 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held at Clayton Baptist Church Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at 2:00 PM the body of Eddie Dixon will lie in state an hour prior to service. Service will be conducted by Dr. Joe Nichols. Burial will follow at Pickett Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Eddie V. Dixon.
Charles Elmer Grimes
(December 8, 1914 - June 27, 2011)
Mr. Charles Elmer Grimes, age 96, of Cedartown, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2011. He was born on December 8, 1914 in Cullman, Alabama; he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Fletcher and Lou Mary Herndon Grimes.
Mr. Grimes was retired after working for many years at Diamond Shamrock.
Mr. Grimes is survived by his daughters and son-in-laws, Bonnie Grimes Hutcheson and Ralph and Susan Grimes Hulsey and Cecil; daughter-in-law, Carolyne Grimes; sons and daughter-in-laws, Allen Grimes and Sylvia and Dennis Grimes and Diane; sister, Mary Estelle Greer; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Grimes is preceded in death by his wife, Lovella Emeline Stephens Grimes; daughter, Virginia Louise Grimes; son, Billy Lee Grimes; brother, Morris Grimes; and granddaughter, Lisa Grimes Heath.
The funeral arrangements for Mr. Grimes will be conducted on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at eleven o’clock in the morning in the Chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Pyles and Mr. Charles Allen Grimes officiating.

James Atkins
March 18, 1928 - October 13, 2009
Mr. James Calvin “J.C.” Atkins age 81, of Rome, GA, died Tuesday, October 13, 2009 in a local hospital.
Mr. Atkins was born in Floyd County, GA on March 18, 1928, the son of the late John L. Atkins and Susie Ables Atkins. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, but attended Unity Baptist Church. Mr. Atkins retired from Plant Bowen after several years of service. After retirement he owned and operated a lawn maintenance service. In addition to his parents Mr. Atkins was preceded in death by four brothers, Billy Atkins, Melvin Atkins, Richard Atkins, and Dock Atkins and a sister, Myrtle Weeks.
Survivors include two sons, Louie Atkins and Jimmy Atkins both of Rome; two adopted sons, Johnathan Wilson and Skyler Wilson both of Rome; two daughters and a son-in-law, Betty Jean and James Ayers of Summerville, GA and Vera Sue Foster of Centre, AL; a granddaughter, Melissa Atkins of Rome; four step-grandchildren, David Ayers, Doug Ayers, Danny Ayers, and Dennis Ayers; and a brother, Bobby Atkins of the Texas Valley Community.
A Celebration of Life for Mr. Atkins will be held Thursday, October 15, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. in the Oaknoll Chapel of the McGuire, Jennings, & Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Glen Studdard officiating. iIntermentwill follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

Ethel Rickman Page, age 86, of Rabun Gap passed away October 1, 2003 at home.
Mrs. Page was born on August 25, 1917 in Rabun County and was the daughter of Luther Rickman and Stella Nicholson Rickman. She was preceded in death by one sister, Josephine Brown. She was member of Eastern Star and Rhododendron Garden Club. She was a teacher in the Rabun County Schools and attended Wolffork Baptist Church all of her adult life.
She is survived by her husband Edward V. Page of the home, two sons Robert Alvin Page of Fayetteville and Edward Franklin Page of Rabun Gap, GA. three daughters Jane Gillespie of Mountain City, Sally O’Barr of Lavonia, GA. and Anne Free of Lakemont; one brother Frank Rickman of Clayton and one sister Evelyn Baran of Alexandria, VA.

James Emory, age 60 of Franklin NC, formerly of Mountain City, passed away September 25, 2003 at his residence.
Mr. Emory was born in Rabun County on May 12, 1943 and was preceded in death by his parents Thomas William Emory and Della Giles Emory.
He is survived by one daughter Amy Phillips of Clayton, three bothers Harm Emory of Mountain City, William Emory of Franklin, NC., and Thomas J Emory of Mountain City. Three sister Sally Emory of Mountain City, Lula Turpin of Clarksville GA. and Leila Brantley of Stockbridge, GA. and three grandchildren.

Janie Hamby Conner
Janie Hamby Conner, age 68 of Clayton passed away October 22, 2003 at North East Georgia Medical center.
She was born June 12, 1935 in Rabun County, and was a member of Battle Branch Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father Logan Hamby, her mother Ola Gibson Hamby, and two brothers Russell Hamby and Joe Hamby.
She is survived by her husband Billy P Conner of the home, one daughter and son-in-law Kandy and Randy McDonald of Clayton, sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Jack Keener of Clayton, one niece Marcia Keener Long, one nephew Kevin Hamby, grandchildren Mandy McDonald and Andy McDonald, and great-grandchild Rissa Rowser.
The family will receive friends Friday evening October 24th from 7 – 9 PM at Beck Funeral Home.
