Misty Dawn Abernathy, 25, of Cartersville passed away Sunday, April 11, 2010 at her residence. Born January 28, 1985 in Rome, she was the daughter of Bonnie Abernathy and the late David Goss.
Survivors include her Mother, Bonnie Abernathy; her husband, Derrick Griffin; her grandmother, Elsie Tomkowiak; and her sister-in-law, April Garrett.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010 in Oak Hill cemetery with the Rev. Ronald Gore officiating.

J. D. Cotton Watts
J. D. Watts, affectionately known as “Cotton”, age 58, of Clayton passed away December 9, 2003.
Cotton was born in Rabun County on November 21, 1945 the son of the late John Virgil Watts and Ethel Hunter Watts. He was a life long resident of Rabun County, and was a building contractor for many years. He was a Master Mason a member of Rabun Gap Lodge # 265 of Clayton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Charlie Watts, William Watts.
He is survived by his loving wife Sarah Chappell Watts; one son Rodney Watts of Cornelia GA; two daughters Rhonda Watts, and Lisa Watts Burrell both of Clayton; one brother Anthony Watts of Franklin NC.; two sisters Janie Benfield of Clayton GA, and Margaret Crunkleton of Tiger GA; ten grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends Thursday December 11, 2003 from 2:00 until 4:00 pm and from 6:00 until 9:00 pm at Beck Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Friday December 12, 2003 at Battle Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Glennville Nichols, Rev. Steve Lamb, and Rev. Sammy Cutshall officiating. Masonic Funeral Rites will be conducted by Rabun Gap Lodge #265. iIntermentwill be in the John and Ethel Watts Family Cemetery.

Jenny Bennett Shelton
Jenny B. Shelton, age 62 of Clayton, GA. passed away January 5, 2004.
Mrs. Shelton was born May 29, 1941 in Rabun County and was preceded in death by her parents Horace Bennett and Katherine Rogers Bennett, one sister Judy Queen, and one brother Bill Bennett.
She is survived by four daughters and son-in-laws Susan and Faron Welch of Mountain City, Tracy and Wesley English of Tiger, B.J. and Shayne Beck of Tiger and Kelly and Alan Baker of Cornelia, GA.; One sister Janie Brown of Greenville S.C.; Twelve Grandchildren, and Three Great Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home Tuesday January 6, 2004 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held at Blue Heights Baptist Church in Mountain City, Georgia Wednesday January 7, 2004 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Austin Kelley Officiating and burial following at Blue Heights cemetery with Rev. Danny Cannon at Graveside.

Mary Ellen Arkward
SEPTEMBER 7, 1949 - SEPTEMBER 3, 2010
Mary Ellen Arkward, 60, of Cartersville passed away on Friday morning, September 3, 2010, at her apartment she shared with her daughter, Jean Day, due to a heart attack. She was born on September 7, 1949 in Franklin, Pennsylvania and was the daughter of Ellen Lawrence Arkward and the late Byard Arkward. Prior to her death, she retired from nursing and practicing holistic healing. Preceding her in death are her brothers, Larry and Tony Arkward and her father, Byard Arkward, Jr..
She is survived by her mother Ellen Arkward; her children, Susan King and Jean Day of Cartersville; her son James Day, Jr. of Camp Pendelton in California; her grandchildren, Cheyenne Day, Rachel and Tony King of Cartersville and Alexis Day of California; her great-grandchildren Makiah and Saniah Reynolds of Cartersville; her brothers, Byard Arkward III, Jerome Arkward and Michael Arkward; and her uncle Tom Lawrence and his wife Kathleen.
Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Bob Copeland officiating.

Patsy Jean Law
Patsy Jean Law age 64 of Clayton passed away January 8, 2004 at home.
Patsy Law was born July 17, 1939 in Suwannee County Florida and lived in Orlando FL before moving to Clayton in 1996. She worked as bookkeeper for many years. After moving to Clayton Patsy worked at the senior center and later for the United States Forest Service. She attended Church at Liberty Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents William Charles Law and Elizabeth Greene Law Dodge.
She is survived by two daughters Jamie Stewart of Lexington, SC and Adrianna DeWitt of Homestead, FL. Three sisters Laura Baker of Clayton, Ann Prevatt of Jacksonville, FL. and Gerry Hughes of Pompano Beach, FL. and two Grandsons Jake and Dylan Stewart.
A Memorial service will be held at Liberty Baptist Church in the down stairs Chapel on January 9, 2004 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Alton Dendy officiating.

Connie Mae English Coleman White
Connie Mae English Coleman White, Age 93 died Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at North East Georgia Medical Center Lanier Park Campus after a brief illness.
She was the daughter of the late John and Delphia Hunter English. Mrs. White was preceded in death by her two husbands Verner Coleman and Frank White and also a son Ronald Coleman.
She is survived by one daughter Vernelle Strickland and one son and daughter in law Rodney and June Coleman and one Daughter in Law LaVerne Coleman, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren also survive.
She was a member of Wolffork Baptist Church, a homemaker and a seamstress for Model Cleaners which she and her husband Verner owned for many years.
Visitation will be at 1:00 PM Saturday January 24, 2004 prior to the funeral Service at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Beck Funeral Home with layman Lloyd Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Rabun Memorial Park Cemetery

Thomas Wayne Johnston
Thomas Wayne Johnston age 92 of Clayton Georgia passed away February 17, 2004 at Rabun County Hospital.
He was born in Carroll County Georgia the son of the late Earle Johnston and Sarah Coleman Johnston.
Thomas served in the Horse Marines in China from 1933 to 1937, and in the theater of WWII from 1942 to 1946. When he earned his discharge from the Marines he had obtained the rank of SGT. Major.
He was a Builder by trade and was a member of the Carpenter’s Union 125 in Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Marguerite Johnston.
Thomas is Survived by his loving wife Anita Hebert Johnston of the home; one daughter Laurel Johnston of Honolulu Hawaii; one son Michael Johnston of Buford Georgia.
There will be a private family grave side service at Decatur cemetery where his ashes will be laid to rest.
Lewis Gordon Talley
Lewis Gordon Talley, age 65 of Clayton Georgia passed away on February 21, 2004 at Rabun County Hospital.
Gordon Was born in Macon County North Carolina on July 10, 1938 the son of Valerie Burnette Talley and the late Lawrence Talley. Gordon was a former Clayton Police Chief and has been in law enforcement for many years. He was a member of the Georgia Peace Officers Association, and International Brother Hood of Electricians.
He was preceded in death by his father Lawrence Talley, and one son William Scott Talley.
He is Survived by three sons Brud Talley and wife Regina of Dillard GA, Louie Talley and wife Lisa of Clayton GA, Clay Talley and wife Tamra of Scaly Mountain NC; one daughter Kim Talley Stephens and husband Mike of Blairsville GA; three brothers Dennis Talley of Dillard GA, Garnell Talley of Chatsworth GA, Calvin Talley of Dillard GA; one sister Geraldine Talley Brown of Dillard GA; Six Grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home on Monday February 23, 2004 from 6:00 until 9:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday February 24, 2004 in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wren Worley, Rev. Roy Conner, and Rev. Al Sizemore Officiating. Burial will follow in the Wiley Cemetery.
The family will be at the home Louie Talley.
The family of Pauline Clark will be at her residence in Clayton.

Elizabeth Pearce Long
Laura Elizabeth Pearce Long age 83, of Dillard GA. passed away February 10, 2004 at home.
Mrs. Long was born March 5, 1920, to the late Robert Milton Pearce and Bessie Lee Brewster Pearce. She Gradated from University of Georgia in 1942 as a Pharmacist. She was a member of Head of Tennessee Baptist Church in Dillard GA.and former member of First Baptist Church of Altlanta.
She was preceded in death by one daughter Peggy Long, one brother Robert Pearce and one sister Margaret Maree.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years Malcolm Long Jr. of the home, three daughters Susan Elliott of Birmingham AL., Betsy Brunson of Sylvania, GA. and Laura Long of Dallas, TX., One brother Jack Pearce of Atlanta GA. seven Grandchildren and six Great Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Beck Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday February 11, 2004 at 5:30 PM with Rev. Doug Porter officiating. Graveside service will be Thursdays February 12, 2004 at 1:00 PM at West View Cemetery, Atlanta, GA.

Tobby H. Sullins
Tobby Harvey Sullins age 28, of Clayton GA. passed away February 10, 2004.
Mr Sullins was born May 19, 1975 in Hall County Georgia. He worked in landscaping, was a member of Wolffork Baptist Church, and served in the US Navy.
He is survived by his wife Shanda Lee Cummings Sullins of the home, and his Mother Elizabeth “Libby” Hicks and his Father Jerry Sullins and wife Linda. Two sister Corry Beth Sullins of Clayton, GA.Candie Pate of San Degio Cl, maternal grandparents Roberta Hicks, paternal grandparents Dorris and J B Freeman and Bud and May Sullins. A number of Aunts, Uncles and cousins also survive.
The family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home Friday February 13, 2004, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM following visitation their will a Memorial Service at 6:00 PM in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Dailey officiating.

Connie LaPrade Kastner
Connie LaPrade Kastner, age 90 of the Lake Burton Community passed away February 12, 2004 at Scenic View in Habersham County
She was born in Habersham County to John Henry LaPrade and Melinda Caroline Lovell LaPrade. She and her parents moved to Rabun County in 1926 and operated LaPrade’s Camp till 1945. In 1946 she and husband Verner Kastner established and operated Kastner’s Store till his death in December of 1991.
She was preceded in death by two brothers Buford LaPrade and Hubert LaPrade and one sister Cona Dixon.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter in law, Verner Kastner Jr. and John Andrew “J.A.” and Joyce Kastner of Clayton, and one daughter and son in law Mary Lee and Thomas “Jesse” Clark of Clayton. Five grandchildren; Andy Lee Kastner, Brenda Kastner Speed, Kathi Kastner Kesler, Barry Thomas Clark, and Janet Clark Holt. Nine great grandchildren; Justin and Kimberly Holt, Matthew and Whitney Speed, Phillip Kastner Arnold, Blake and Abby Clark, Ian and Lucas Kesler.
Family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Saturday February 14, 2004 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. She will be placed in her home on Lake Burton on Sunday February 15, 2004 till the Funeral Services at Providence Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with Rev Waymond Lunsford and Rev. Don Drawdy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
