Frances Lucille Smith
Graveside services for Frances Lucille Smith of Social Circle were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25 at Zion Hope Cemetery.
The Rev. Matt Yawn officiated.
Smith, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005. She was the daughter of Lucille Johnson Smith and the late Benjamin Frank Smith of Chauncey.
In addition to her mother, survivors include her three children, Ron Shipwash of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Shanon Shipwash of Social Circle, Sharon Watkins of Conyers; brother, Jimmy Smith of Dublin; sisters, Ann Bell of Conyers and Carolyn Altman of Orlando, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
Lowe’s Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of arrangements.

Frances Rebecca Griffith Taylor
Services for Frances Rebecca Griffith Taylor of McRae will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5 at the McRae United Methodist Church with interment in the Telfair Memorial Gardens.
Dr. Bob Williams officiated.
Taylor, 100, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005. She was the daughter of the late Henry R. Griffith and Ruth Stell.
She was a native of Nancy Mann County, Va. and was a life time resident of Telfair County. She was retired as secretary for the McRae United Methodist Church after 25 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Harriett McMillan McClung of Roanoke, Va.; son, Hugh Edgar Taylor Jr., of Winder; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the McRae United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 8, McRae 31055.
Lowe’s Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Cathleen Brown
Services for Mary Cathleen Brown of McRae were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17 in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with interment in the Oakgrove Cemetery.
The Rev. Bill Jones and Dr. William Connell officiated.
Brown, 48, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005. She was the daughter of Christine Yawn Brown and the late Ralph Lamar Brown.
She was a native of Telfair County and had worked as a legal secretary and with the Bibb County Civil Defense Department. She was a member of the McRae First Baptist Church and was widely known as an award-winning published poet.
In addition to her mother, survivors are sisters, including her twin sister, Christy B. Watrous of Peachtree City, Carolyn Brown of College Park, Marilyn Brown of Tucker and Lynne B. and Mickey Harrelson of Helena; and brother, Tommy Brown of McRae.
Contributions may be made to the National Psoriasis Foundation, 6600 SW 92nd Avenue, Ste 300, Portland, Ore., 97223-7195 or to the American Diabetes Association, Savannah Office, 5105 Paulsen Street, C236, Savannah, 31405.
Vaughn Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.

Elbert H. Cook
Services for Elbert H. Cook of Hillsborough County, Fla. were held at a private ceremony.
Cook, 72, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005 after a brief illness. He was married to Susie K. Cook.
He was a resident of Alamo for the last few years, was a retired carpenter and a member of the Snowhill Church of God.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his sons, Wayne Cook, Larry Cook and Elbert Cook III, all of Florida; sisters, Maxine Choate and Ela Smith of Florida; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Towns Funeral Home, Inc. of Alamo was in charge of arrangements.

Joseph ‘Joe’ Dixon
Services for Joseph “Joe” Dixon of Alamo were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005 at the Alamo United Methodist Church with interment in the Alamo City Cemetery.
Dr. Charles Cravey and the Rev. Nick Hazelton officiated.
Dixon, 50, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005. He was the son of Mary Day Dixon Grimes and was married to Donna JoAnn Spires Dixon of Alamo.
He was a native of Wheeler County and a member of the Alamo United Methodist Church. He was the Chief District Forest Ranger and Arson Investigator for the Georgia Forestry Commission.
In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include his daughter, Katie Dixon; son, Ted Dixon; stepfather, Emory Grimes; brother, Todd Dixon; and sister, Paulette Warnock.
Donations may be made to the Alamo United Methodist Church in memory of Joe Dixon.
Towns Funeral Home, Inc. of Alamo was in charge of arrangements.

Johnie Will Fowler
Services for Johnie Will Fowler of Milan were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17 in Sand Grove Baptist Church in Milan with interment in Sand Grove Cemetery.
The Rev. Donald Whitman and Greg Hilliard officiated.
Fowler, 77, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005. She was the daughter of the late Carlton Walker and Georgia Mae Barron Walker and was married to John Lewis Fowler of Milan.
She was a native of Dodge County was a member of Sand Grove Baptist Church, was a homemaker and seamstress.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her sisters, Ruth Maloy of Rhine, Doris Woodard of McRae and Vecha Walker of Bradenton, Fla.
Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home of Eastman was in charge of arrangements.

Randy C. Hickman
Services for Randy C. Hickman of Eastman were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17 in Southerland Funeral Chapel with interment in the Taylor Cemetery.
The Rev. Lewis Harrell and Buddy Leach officiated.
Hickman, 54, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005. He was the son of the late W.C. Hickman and Myrtle Harrell Hickman and was married to Cookie Hickman.
He was a lifelong resident of Dodge County and a member of Eastside Baptist Church. He was a carpenter and a Vietnam Veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughters, Lee Cannon, Ann Hickman, Stephanie Gibson and Angel White; son, Robert Wells; sisters, Doris Kilgore, Jean Allen and Pat Hill; brothers, Carl Hickman, Wayne Hickman, Nicky Hickman, David Hickman and Hulon Hickman; and eight grandchildren.
Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home of Eastman was in charge of arrangements.

Junior Paul Rainey
Services for Junior Paul Rainey of Tifton were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17 at Towns Funeral Home with interment in the Alamo City Cemetery.
The Rev. Danny Glasser and Rev. J.B. Floyd officiated.
Rainey, 68, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005. He was married to Bonnie Joyce Rainey of Tifton.
He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church and served two terms in the Vietnam and Korean Conflict.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughters, Sheila Rainey of Tifton, Vickey Webster of Fayette, Ala., Angela Prysock of Vidalia, and Becky Derriso of Swainsboro; sons, Johnny Rainey, Gregory Rainey, Ernest Rainey, Jimmy Rainey all of Deland, Fla., Ricky Rainey and Scott Dill of Greer, S.C.; sisters; Myrtice Reynolds, Daisey Belkey, Nellie Allen and Mildred Miles.
Towns Funeral Home, Inc. of Alamo was in charge of arrangements.

Darline F. Taylor
Services for Darline F. Taylor of Dallas, Texas were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19 at Sandhill Baptist Church of Scotland with interment in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
The Rev. Noel Robinson officiated.
Taylor, 73, died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005. She was the daughter of the late Kindrell and Mary Liza Fletcher Sr. and was the widow of Addis C. Taylor.
Survivors include sister, Pennie Fletcher of Detroit, Mich.; brothers, John Fletcher of Detroit Mich., Loyd Fletcher of Alamo, and Carl Fletcher of Oakland, Calif.
A.L. Spaulding Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.
